I had my first visit a few weeks ago. I thought all the staff members were excellent- very accommodating and professional, without any of the abrasiveness that sometimes accompanies dentist appointments. My visit was with Dr. Chou, who was very intelligent and easy-going and as well. I appreciated that he took the time to examine my teeth from a comprehensive viewpoint, explaining possible future issues with my bite that I should be mindful of now. He struck that very important balance of being informative and instructive without lecturing or judging. After one visit, I was truly impressed with how the health of my teeth impacts my overall health. If I could write this zero stars I would and this didn't even start with me in the office this is just a phone call alone. I spoke with a woman named Janette and before then I had tried calling about two or three times because this was an emergency I'm pretty sure my filling is coming out. I left a voicemail because the recording said they were at lunch (yes that's the first thing the recording said) THEN it said or we might be on the other line with a patient. I have had to make many Dr appointments in the past and know how busy their lines get and know that if you keep calling you might get through (it's like a radio station) . When the receptionist finally answered said excuse me can you please stop calling this is your third time now and I informed her that yes this is an emergency I need to see the dentist as soon as possible and she said this line is for emergencies you need to stop calling I told her politely this is an emergency I think one of my fillings came or is coming out. She rude again said we are not Open today and they won't be open again until Thursday or Friday, I told her that I was sorry I didn't know you guys were closed your voicemail that I reached did not say that you were closed and that is why I was calling continuously and she said well I don't know about that I'll check to check and see... in a rude voice so that is when I decided to tell her you know just to let you know for future calls that you're being extremely rude and you should not treat your possible patients that way. She said sorry (sarcasticly) if I come off like that but you did call three times sooooo. I told her regardless of how many times I called you should still not be that rude what was your name again? She ignored me and rambled on about stuff she had already told me avoid the question. So when she stopped I asked again, she reluctantly answered Jeanette and I said thank you Jeanette goodbye. I do not know if that's your real name but you better believe that when I call again or go into the office I will ask if there's a Jeanette that works there and if not I will let them know that I called at this time on this day so whoever answers the phone at that time was extremely rude and explain what happened. The only reason why I say that I might go actually go in is because my family recommended this dentist and said that they did a really good job on their teeth so I'm hoping that their dentist and their actual dentistry work will overpower the rude receptionist. But for now I'm calling the dentist specialist next door to see if I can get an appointment if this place fails. read more

I've been going here for a few years. My husband and I are very happy with the quality of their Dentistry and professionalism of everyone. The Dr. is very easy to talk with he answers our questions and explains each treatment. The gals in the office make us feel welcomed and they aren't busy talking. The office is clean, the rooms are clean, neat and receive natural light. The equipment are clean and modern. It's quiet and relaxing. The Dr. always checks to make sure your doing ok. This is the first time I am writing a yelp review because this place was that bad... I don't know how this place has gotten any good reviews. I came here with my 10 year old daughter for a checkup and cleaning. As soon as I saw the dental asssitant I wanted to get out of there. She was the sitting at the front desk messing around with her cell phone and did not ever crack a smile. She still was on her cell phone even when she was talking to me! Talk about terrible customer service! She seemed bothered that she had to get up and do something. She took my daughters x rays and had the same terrible attitude the whole time and I swear she never smiled. How can you have a job where you have to deal with people and have no personality nor charisma? I don't know how she is not fired yet. There was another employee there who wasnt as bad as her but she wasn't very friendly either. I didn't have an issue with the dentist Dr. Huang but because of his unfriendly staff I will never set foot in that place. I would give this review 0 stars if I could. What an awful experience. Never in my life have I had such a pleasant experience....never. I've had nothing but trouble finding a good dentist who actually cares about the patient and not how much money they can squeeze from them. Dr. Hwang did a procedure on me last Thursday and was so gentle, I didn't feel a thing! I had some issues over the weekend and the office got back to me right away. I was even able to speak to Dr. Winston on a Saturday night (I needed a prescription right away) and he was not bothered by me at all. He genuinely seemed interested in helping me. I have never been a fan of going to the dentist. I've always had a fear due to horrible past experiences so I put off going to one for 10 years. I finally faced my fear 6 months ago and gave Whittier Square Dentistry a try. I saw Dr. Winston, who was very nice and understanding. The dental hygienists are very friendly and easy to talk to. They took my x-rays and within minutes I was seen by the doctor. He examined my teeth and cleaned/polished them. I had a concern because one of my teeth is a little more sensitive than the others but he said it was fine, just a little worn and took extra precaution when working on that area. To my surprise (and I think Dr. Winston's too) I had no cavities or anything wrong! All this fear was for nothing! I was happy to make my appointment for my next visit. I came in today and again perfect teeth! I was treated with the exact same amount of kindness and professionalism that I experienced the first time. AMAZING!!! I'm one who had a major fear of going to the dentist, but after going here there will be no need to find another dentist. This dental office is so sweet and the doctor is so kind. The doctor explains what needs to be done and is very gentle working on your teeth never in a rush just to get you in and out. I had an appointment at 11:00am and got to my appointment a few minutes early. I was greeted with a smile from the nurse and she helped me right away. I had some trouble with my insurance and the nurse let me know exactly what was taking place and everything was figured out. Once we were done with my paperwork and insurance information the nurse then took me in for X-rays, as the doctor was finishing up with another patient. As the nurse was done with the X-rays she stepped out of the room, but didn't forget about me she would check on me to make sure everything was ok and would let me know the doctor would be with me shortly. After a less than satisfactory and overall stressful experience at Brea Dentists with Dr. Gaffino (please see their Yelp for my story and review), I was on the hunt for a second opinion. Having the gut feeling that Brea Dentists was scamming me, I too was very wary of Dr. Winston at first. But I desperately didn't want to give $800 to Dr. Gaffino for something I believed I didn't need. So I was open to a second and even third opinion. (I ended up seeing another dentist as well who is a friend and he confirmed too what Dr. Winston said) Dr. Winston was incredible. I've gone to more than several dentists in my life, and he was the first one who let ME talk first. I explained my entire fiasco and he just sat there- listening! He didn't butt in once. I have never in my life seen this with a dentist let alone any medical professional. I was floored. He also had incredible bedside manner, something I have found is incredibly difficult to find in male dentists. After I completed my story, he examined my problem tooth and proceeded to tell me that the "big problem" Dr. Gaffino had seen was really not a problem at all. Where Dr. Gaffino had noted bad "decay", Dr. Winston said the tooth was just stained near the composite filling, as they do over time. My suspicions were confirmed about Brea Dentists just wanting my money, and just like that, I had found a new wonderful, thorough dentist who cares and who isn't just looking to pay off and make a profit on his Cerac machine. 1st off let me say since I was young, I've always had a horrible phobia of going to the dentist. Which is almost the reason why I always waited until I was in pain to go to the dentist. So one day almost out of no where I start getting this horrible toothache, finding this place to was easy for me, lets just say I am in the neighborhood. I was able to make an appt. that same day, thank god!! I was seen by Dr. Winston who was great, made me feel at ease. However Dr. Aaron is who did my treatment (root canal). BEST DESCISION EVER to go there! I have never experienced such low/ to NO pain at a dentist in my life. My mother is a member of Caremore Medical Group and this dental group is the one her plan put her on. I'm so glad they did. She was having tooth pain so I called and they got her in quickly. The staff was friendly, they treated her very respectfully as a Sr Citizen and we extremely gentle with her. There was no waiting so she was able to get in and out in a very short period of time. I love coming to this dentist. They are always ready for you on your appointment time or even a few minutes earlier and they are very quick with any procedures. I am usually out in 30 minutes or less which is important to me. My last dentist had me waiting over an hour after my appointment time and that was just annoying. Why even make an appointment? I also like that they do not try to sell me dental products that I "need". This drove me away from my last dentist too. Always trying to get me to spend almost $100 on washes, pastes, etc. This office has never done that in the past 3 years I have been going there. So, I've avoided the dentist a lot but finally bit the bullet and called around to find a place I was comfortable with. The staff here were extremely helpful and accommodating. My current insurance doesn't cover dental so when my upper wisdom tooth emerged and was causing me pain I hesitated. Luckily, the quote they gave me was financially manageable for me. When I went in for my initial exam and xrays I brought my one year old (because it's hard to find a babysitter on short notice when family isn't available). They were extremely helpful and accommodating to us both and I was able to schedule the extraction for a couple days later. As for the extraction itself, it was awesome! I think I waited longer in the sitting room and to get fully numbed up, but the Dr. was excellent and pulled it out in seconds! My healing has been extremely fast, I'm not sure if that's common but I definitely attribute it to his skill! I would definitely recommend them! read more
