    Whitefish Salad Sandwich
    Briana N.

I'm always on the hunt for something that can live up to a NY Bagel, and although I'm still looking for an actual dupe, Wholy Bagel is decent in its own right. Service is pretty fast and the servers are so friendly! They have a good amount of choices when it comes to bagel and cream cheese flavors. I got the whitefish salad sandwich toasted on a spinach asiago bagel and it really hit the spot! It was fishy and salty in all the best way, while still feeling pretty light. And the price was pretty good compared to other bagel places in Austin.

Service is decently fast and the servers are so kind! The bagels are delicious and there is a large variety of toppings and spreads. Love stopping here for lunch or breakfast!

In route to San Antonio...need sustenance.... Stopped by Wholy bagel Wholly Molly... Sticker shock...the internet stated my bagel sandwich would be $5.50 and when I arrived the bagel was $7.99. Note to self, don't believe internet pricing. The bagel sandwich was good. The bagel was toasted and soft and fresh inside. I had a choice of several types of cheese...a pleasant surprise. The meat and eggs were cooked well and flavorful. The bagel sandwich was quite tasty. Service was good with my server offering me jelly. Wholy bagel is very small for sitting. There are some shared seating outside.

Pros: tastes great, garlic aioli tastes awesome on any sandwich, option for egg whites Cons: pricey (see photo), no option to suggest specific time for ordering ahead, forgot the cheese on my sandwich

First time stopping in on a walk, awesome bagels. The Everything is always my speed and the scallion cream cheese didn't disappoint. 1/2 portion of turkey was enough. Stephanie, the new gal at the register was super friendly. Great job for your 2nd day!

Got the #4 scrambled egg and lox but where is the lox? Talked to staff and they said its in the scramble. If it is, its the smallest serving of lox ever because I can neither see nor taste it. Sorry but this is a hard pass.

They have the best cream cheeses here! Whether you're looking for something sweet or savory, they have a huge and unique variety. Not only are their breakfast sandwiches great, so are their lunch ones. I had the rajin cajun on an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and it was so delicious. You can really taste how fresh the turkey and vegetables are inside and all of the flavors blend well together. We also got a pumpernickel bagel with blueberry cream cheese on the side and I also enjoyed it, the cream cheese flavoring reminded me of yogurt in a way. Not too sweet, but the perfect amount

I'm always on the hunt for some good vegan cream cheese. So when I heard about how good their bagels are supposed to be and then saw they had vegan cream cheese on their menu I just had to go! I read reviews about the blueberry bagel and so I ordered it. It was really good, though I'm not from the east coast so I don't really have anything to truly compare it too. I got my bagel extra toasted and the perfect amount of cream cheese was spread on it. It was a small place with some bar stools for seating. The staff was really nice and my order came out fast. I want to go back and try a breakfast sandwich!!

Wholy Bagel? More like, Holy Cream Cheese! There is only one true way to eat a bagel, and that's toasted with a mound of cream cheese on top. If you eat it like a sandwich and the cream cheese falls out you know it's done correctly. It is difficult to come across bagel shops that aren't chains like Einstein, so it's refreshing to get a chance to have a legit shop nearby. So far, I have only gotten their sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese, but their bagel sandwiches look delicious, and will be next on my list. The only "negative" (based on my 5 minutes in there) is to maybe put a door separating the kitchen from the dining/order area. The prep station's music was outplaying the music in the front and it kind of threw off the vibe. But again, I didn't eat there so maybe other people don't mind.

I'm still dreaming of this rainbow bagel from wholy bagel! It was so big and fluffy. I paired it with I think it was the honey cream cheese and it was the perfect combo. It looks like a bagel you'd see someone post in nyc- so glad we have an instagrammable bagel shop here! Not only is it picture worthly, flavor and value and is there too. Wholy bagel is a great spot for a grab and go bagel I've also had their bagel sandwiches in the past and those are also a 10/10 but I like to pre order those as sometimes they do have a line, but definitely worth checking out!

But by the time my friend arrived about 1:10 the line had disappeared and the crowd was quickly thinning out. I had the farmhouse club and my friend went with a salad (I forget which one). My sandwich was absolutely delicious and I cleaned it up. His salad was enormous and he couldn't finish it. He had enough leftover to take home for another meal. Neither came with a side but they are available for purchase. The restaurant is bright and cheerful inside with plenty of seating. And the staff are very friendly and eager to assist throughout the meal. The only downside is their prices being a little high for the type of setting so one star off. I will probably return anyway for the delicious sandwich. But I wish it came with chips!

I've been for both lunch and dinner, and lunch is clearly the peak time, which makes sense given the sandwich, salad, and soup menu. It feels built for the midday lunch crowd. The kitchen runs very efficiently, the line moves quickly, and online ordering is very easy. It's counter service, but I've taken meals to go a few times and everything traveled well. As of February 2026, it still has that brand new restaurant feel. The interior is bright, clean, and modern, and there's a ton of outdoor seating. However, you are just off 38th Street and across from the Seton medical complex, so al fresco dining may not be the quietest experience depending on traffic and time of day. Overall, a great addition to the area for lunch (or dinner).

***SMOOTHIE ONLY REVIEW***…read more I'll be honest, Yelp: I most sincerely had reservations about The Soup Peddler. Reason: The menu reads sort of average and practical. Why buy stuff I could make at home? When I spend money, I'm paying for a hit of culture and flavor. This economy is crazy. You've gotta choose wisely. I can save money and do average at home. HOWEVER, I was on a mission for a real pineapple and kale smoothie, and Austin has been inconsistent with this. Juice-Land makes mistakes with substitutions (they don't have it on the menu) and Smoothie King is an "all over the place" expensive hot mess caught up in a boycott, so here I found myself. I ordered the Tropicalia (24 oz): mango, banana, pineapple juice, lemon, kale, spirulina. Solid lineup. But I don't like juice substitutions when you can have real fruit, so my *ONE ASK* was to please add real pineapple on top of everything. Add actual pineapple, not just juice. They said yes!!! No extra charge. And that's where everything changed. This tasted CRAFTED. This tasted INTENTIONAL. Winner. WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER. This is easily the BEST smoothie I've had in Austin. That I've had ever. Ok, Erewhon in LA has been the best. But this was fresh, bright, and clean. Sweet without tipping into sugar overload. The pineapple flavor popped and was balanced by the earthiness of the kale and spirulina so it felt refined and it didn't feel like a juice bomb. Perfecto. Service was straightforward. Pleasant and efficient, not over the top. It works. But the point is I came in skeptical and I left planning my next visit. I want to try everything. If this smoothie delivered then I have high hopes for the rest of the menu. Forgive my doubts.

The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good. I feel like it could improve with packaging that doesn't steam it during transport though (wrapped in sandwich paper and then foil). Perhaps a box or styrofoam container that can vent would help it be less chewy and retain some crispness? It's not a gimmick if they have good food…read more Handsome Dan's has been on my list to try for months, but I've been on a keto diet most of the time, so a bunch of restaurants have been put on a "someday" list. Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.
