Every aspect of service was spot on! The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Despite being busy, we were seated promptly . We were then greeted by our server, Jeff. This guy really took care of us! He answered every question we had and then some! Very knowledgeable on the menu and made you feel comfortable.He made recommendations for our entees and paired wine as well.My girlfriend is very picky and he calmly described every dish and drink down to the very last ingredient. The Food..... WOW!!! The roasted red pepper and black eyed pea hummus app was very flavorful and came with fresh veggies to dip. I had the ahi Tuna (which was seared to perfection) with bacon wrapped asparagus on a bed of purple Peruvian potatoes(so tasty)! The sauce that came with my tuna was awesome .... My girlfriend had the wild mushroom quinoa w/ zephyr squash and forced me to try it... I am now a fan of quinoa!! To finish.. we both ordered the blood orange sorbet garnished with mint. This was a very refreshing way to end our meal. Very glad we didn't share the sorbet, because we ate every last bite! You can really tell that the chef and kitchen staff truly care about the presentation of each plate. Each dish was a work of art with the flavors to match! We had a table by the window and got to watch the sun go down, while enjoying our perfectly executed three course meal. The manager (Paul) came by to visit with us and check on our dining experience. Evacuated from Hurricane Irma's Path to, just by chance, Columbus, Georgia. We enjoyed the city very much and was particuarily delighted to find this gem of a restaurant: "Wicked Hen" in the historic area. Beautiful ambiance, open spacious seating, very warm service and, best of all: fantastic food! Pecan crusted grilled chicken salad with amazingly fresh greens, an awesome lamb pita sandwich with a refreshing tzatziki sauce and baby yellow tomatoes, great gumbo and OMG: the caramel cake!!! read more

Wow! What a great addition for Columbus and especially for Midtown. Relaxing atmosphere....upstairs area with seating outside as well. Jazzy menu with balanced variety. Bonus: for the 'brown' drinkers..... Scotch and Bourbon menu is a pleaser. Look forward to returning. Service was beyond poor. We ordered and waited 45 minutes for the appetizer. When we asked about our food, we were told only a bit longer and we ended up waiting another 20 minutes before we got up to leave. Once we decided to leave the manager had our food ready, and a coupon. We politely declined and left. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Needs better servers and management. read more

Went here on a whim with my husband. We are always on the lookout for a great locally owned place to dine. We were seated quickly even for 7:30 on a Friday night and the table was perfect for a cozy romantic dinner. I had seen the special advertised artichoke risotto and was definitely interested in trying that but did not was the sea bass. Our server willingly offered to upgrade the green beans accompanying my pecan crusted salmon with the risotto. Sadly, that was the only less than perfect taste experience. The artichokes did not taste fresh but canned. The risotto however, was simply delightful and oh so creamy! The Salmon was almost too tender as it melted in my mouth and was seasoned just enough not to overpower it. The biggest surprise was the goat cheese polenta. The tang of goat cheese was paired well with the smooth taste of butter and a hint of garlic. The meal was superb! read more

Arrived early on Thursday and were seated immediately. Our waiter took our drink orders and we were served in a few minutes. The six of us then ordered or meals. After an acceptable time two dinners of Ahi tuna were served but no other dinners. Five minutes later three other dinners were served but not mine. Then after most of the other diners were almost finished eating my dinner finally arrived. I think it was held in the kitchen so my vegetables would cool off to room temperature. Then my wife told me that here vegetables were also served cold. The restaurant was not busy. There was only one other table occupied. After dinner my wife requested coffee and it was served barely warm. After is was heated another coffee was ordered by one of our friends. It was also served warm and had to be heated. During the meal I requested a beer. I was served a bottle of beer but no glass. I do drink beer from the bottle at a picnic but not in a restaurant. The prices are quite high and not worth the poor service and room temperature food. I will not return unless forced too. read more

Service and food were outstanding! We had the scallops, a 7 oz. filet, and salad. The scallops were the best we'd ever had, and the filet was tender and cooked to perfection. Will definitely go there again. Now for suggestions for improvement: The entrance and parking are not on 13th, they're around back. But there are no signs to indicate that. We parked across the street because there were no signs telling us where to park, nor a visible parking area. Then when we walked across the street to the restaurant, we had to search for the entrance, which was around back. This would be simply remedied with some good, visible signs. Otherwise, this is one of the best restaurants in Columbus. read more

The spouse and I had a rare evening w/o kids an decided to spend it at the Wicked Hen. The atmosphere and drinks were great, until our food came and one order was wrong. Our waitress insisted that she had indeed brought the correct food and that I was mistaken. This elevated to the point I had to get the manager, who was very professional and offered to comp our drinks. We declined, shared the one entree which was excellent, settled-up and left. read more

Went to the Wicked Hen for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday, the experience started off on a negative note. Making reservations I encountered an arrogant and somewhat unhelpful attitude. At the restaurant which interestingly for a Friday evening was quite empty with a number of empty tables. I suspect that should have been my first clue. There were two specials on the menu scallops and red snapper, my wife had the snapper and I had the scallop. we also ordered a appetizer of Ahi tuna which was quite good, when our dinners arrived the meals looked appetizing but that's as far as it went. my meal contained only three scallops and two of them were under cooked. As for the red snapper it was utterly tasteless. the meal it self was very disappointing. We also ordered a bottle of wine, the selections were quite limited. We decided on a bottle of Banshee, a mediocre wine with steep price tag considering you can get the wine at a beverage store for $18... We also shared a dessert. The real shocker came with the bill. the total bill was over $160 for two people. For a mediocre at best meal and the limited amount of food provided the cost was obscene. After what should have been a delightful meal and experience I was very disappointed and was tempted to stop at McDonalds to get something to eat. read more

Wow... what a great place for Columbus GA! The atmosphere is relaxed but a very cool place to be seen. There's an outside area that they can use in the Spring. Downstairs is a fine dining experience and upstairs in the bar area it's edgy and fun. I travel to major cities in the US (NYC, Boston, DC, Dallas, LA, Vegas, Chicago and Seattle mostly) and I am a food/wine snob. For me the cost is crazy inexpensive for what you receive. Great taste, wonderful presentation and awesome service. I live in Atlanta and will go back to the Wicked Hen every time I go to Columbus! read more

Food was delicious and staff was all incredibly friendly! Service was fast and good. Portion size of shrimp and grits was solid but if you are a man or hungry, don't order chicken and waffles. Flavor and taste are amazing but there was 1 chicken tender and 1/2 a waffle. It was surprisingly small considering waffle and fried chicken ingredients are relatively inexpensive compared to like a seafood dish. Had to order an app after the meal because we were hungry and got the gumbo Which was delicious also! If they would add another piece of chicken and give a whole waffle vs. a half, would give it 5 stars. Nice addition for Columbus! read more

Fantastic addition to the Village on 13th! This is exactly what this location needs. Loco's is such a disaster that I'd given up going to the village area until Wicked Hen opened. The food is excellent, the menu is varied and appropriate, a well executed restaurant. The service is outstanding...on par with The Loft and Mabella's. The bar upstairs is fantastic too. Overall this place wasn't too bad. It wasn't as good as it boasts so I'd assume some of the 5 star ratings are from some of the employees. Okay to start with we had the cheese and meat tray not sure what the fancy name they used for it was but it had some decent cold cuts and cheeses for approximately 4ish people. The thing that took me back with this dish is the fact that it came with two bread disks and by bread disks I mean two quarter inch thick bread circles that were around 2 inches wide. This was concerning to me as I like to stack my meats and cheeses as do most red blooded Americans. When my friend asked the waiter for more bread disks the waiter responded with it will cost extra... The extra bread came out right around the time we were finishing things up. It was three more pathetic looking bread disks. I had the special it was stuffed prime rib it was pretty good but I am almost 100% certain that it was a ribeye and not prime rib. It was still pretty good. The rest of the group was pretty impressed with their meals. Our friend had the filet and she said it was pretty amazing. Service as a whole wasn't terrible but it wasn't what you'd expect at a place like that. At one point I waited for 30-45 minutes for a refill... The waiter asked for drinks from the bar but never followed up on if we'd like more. Dessert was pretty good! It was a peanut butter banana pudding! The portion was disappointing but it was good! We've dined here twice and this place is at the top of our list right now! I had the shrimp and grits on our first visit and the 7 oz. filet on our second round. The atmosphere is wonderful and the addition of live piano/vocal music is such a nice touch compared to the usual 'sports bars' live music in Columbus. We were able to enjoy wonderful cuisine, converse and enjoy splendid music over dinner! Thank you for this wonderful addition to our home town. I had dinner here early on a Saturday evening. The reservation was handled efficiently, and I was immediately seated on arrival. Service was excellent from start with drink requests to finish with dessert. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot noir slightly chilled and started with chicken empanadas--crispy pastries containing a blend of chicken, black beans and a light salsa in a chili sauce--worked beautifully. The duck entree was highest quality and expertly prepared, with a very well done risotto and fennel greens--again, the flavors all worked together nicely. I ended with a chocolate buttermilk pie and house made ice cream--the pie has the quality of a light cream turning to rich fudge on the palate--really decadent. When I hit the caramel ribbon in the ice cream, it made me smile. A dessert that made me take my time enjoying each bite. I've seen some reviews referencing a pretentious attitude but I saw the opposite--everyone was very friendly and solicitous. Atmosphere was casual, with a nice music selection at just the right volume. A very good experience. They do adjust their menu seasonally and I'll look forward to coming back for the newest selections. read more
