This place was amazing from the time we were greeted at the door by Colleen (super friendly) until we left. Luis was our waiter and he was friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We took his recommendations for the special on crab and cheese flatbread which was amazing. (It would have been even better had the bottom been a little more crispy. Stopped here for dinner after a movie at Cine' Bistro(4 Mins away btw), and omg I'm so glad I did. I had heard about WS from a co-worker so when I realized how close we were last night, I was excited to try. For one the food is awesome, those baked meatballs were wonderful. My boyfriend also really liked his crab cake and "smashed potatoes". Drinks were also great, as well as the service. However, what really did it for me, was the Super Nintendo in the back! Tonight we came in and 45 minutes later we still hadn't gotten our food. We got several excuses but excuses doesn't get food to us... For a really long time I wanted to visit this place. The photos on the Instagram, different reviews and whatnot made me wanna go there and see what it is. As excited as I could be I grabbed my friend with me and went there on a Sunday. Came to the restaurant waited for a hostess to come up, asked if we could seat outside (because the outdoor pics were so appealing!) the hostess looked at her computer and said it's 10-15mins wait. We said okay we will wait at the bar. So we ordered drinks , and then the was another hostess. So we decided to ask if the outside seating ready and the hostess (second one) said she didn't know anything about us willing to seat outside so she looked at the computer and said it's five to ten mins wait. So when we finally came outside the place was EMPTY!!!!! Like what?! Me and my friend were sooooo confused. But whatever. We did ask server is there a reason they make people wait at the bar for 15 min (hint hint ) before letting them seat outside but he said he knows knitting about it. So then we ordered fries meatballs and fish. Meatballs were to die for! Delicious must try! Fries were very good but had so much salt on them. And when it came to the fish at first it tasted great but than more than half way to the end fish was filled with fat, not filled but it was fat only! No meat whatsoever, I tried to bite it but it was extremely NOT yummy.... so (for the first time in my life) I asked server if that was normal or not, and ended up sending food back to the kitchen. We also order some crab cake to , potatoe salad and etc. everything was good. So overall not bad. Drinks are very good. Fries and meatballs yes yes yes! Had a great brunch with friends while I was in town for the holidays at Wicked Sisters Tavern. A friend recommended this place and I was not dissappointed! I don't get to have genuine MD blue crab meat that often anymore so of course I had to get the Wicked Sister's Benny (eggs Benedict with jumbo lump crab meat) and it was delightful! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the crab meat was so damn good. Also the potatoes served on the side were very flavorful. I also really liked the vibes of this restaurant, very cozy and we had an awesome window seat with lots of natural light. Would recommend to anyone enjoying the Hampden area on a weekend morning! read more

Right before the pandemic shut everything down we decided to take the highway through the great suburban divide to visit some friends and do some shopping in Hampden. The restaurants would be closed within a week. So, we popped in for a late lunch as the region wasn't quite down with disease. Good lunch, cream of crab, and a nice grilled/sautéed mushrooms app. Plus, I had to have The Wedge. I don't live in Hampden and I don't know if they're doing carry out but, if they are and it's convenient for you, please do this place a favor, and order some carry out - you won't regret it. read more

Yesterday was my second time visiting the Wicked Sisters. I sat up stairs this time which was a great idea. I didn't know that upstairs had a bar , seating and Tv. I love this place. Even thought I went looking for food that was previously special that the restaurant didn't serve at the time. But that was a small thing. Service was awesome. Environment was awesome. HOLY MOLY this place is amazingggggg!!! We came here for the first time on a Friday for happy hour (weekdays 3-6 at the bar) and this is definitely somewhere that we will be coming back to shortly! We started off with drinks (duh) I got a strawberry mint crush that was really refreshing and my boyfriend got a natty boh and we were off to a good start. We ordered the Natty Boh mussels - this is the only criticism that I had during the whole meal - I wish it was in a wine sauce instead of Natty Boh because I think it could have used more flavor. The mussels though were cooked perfectly and the cheesy garlic bread was to die for (maybe because I was trying not to eat bread this month and this was a cheat day). For dinner I got the meatballs and the Brussels sprouts... both were delicious. The meatballs are the best I've had out at a restaurant and dare I say they give my mom's meatballs some competition (she doesn't use yelp). It included 3 huge meatballs with a good amount of red sauce as well as mozzarella cheese melted over the entire dish. This also came with 2 more pieces of that delicious cheese bread. Now the Brussels sprouts were the best Brussels sprouts I've had. We were both eating them and had our fill for sure and there was still almost half the helping left! My boyfriend got the pork shank and mac n cheese instead of the smashed potatoes (we gave up potatoes for lent) and while I'm sure the mashed potatoes would be amazing (and we'll definitely be back) the mac n cheese was a great substitute and came with enough for 2. The shank was fall off the bone and I had to remind myself that it was his dinner and not mine so I wouldn't take too much. 100% would recommend anyone to come here... there's about 5 other dishes that we still want to try so well be back soon! read more

Review Date: 2/22/18 - 8:00pm Let me start off my review by saying I typically don't let service impact any of my reviews as I like to just let the food determine my rating, but tonight I wasn't even given the chance to taste the food. My fiancé and I heard good things so we decided to give it a try as we were in the area. The hostess was kind and recommended we sit at the bar since the only table that was available was a tiny one squished between two other couples, so we took her up on the recommendation as there were 7 empty seats. The was a male bartender at the end of the bar chatting with a customer and no other bartenders in sight. After a few minutes of making eye contact with us, the male bartender hadn't moved from his conversation while the female bartenders were running drinks back and forth from the bar to the tables. We ended up waiting even longer and finally had to grab one of the female bartender's attention to let them know we hadn't been helped and ended up just walking out. TL; DR I have never been blatantly ignored at a restaurant before until tonight. Hopefully a manager sees this and improves service as we are very disappointed we didn't get to try the food. read more

Wicked, just like me! I had to eat here once I saw the sign for it. The food was decent, but the shining star was my new wicked sister Kristen! She was a delight and I've never met anyone else who loves Scottish Country Dancing as much as me! She even managed to show me some of her moves while bringing us our meal. While doing this she did drop my roasted tomato and fennel soup, but we laughed it off and I made her bring me a new one. She delivered our dessert, without dancing, but I decided to show her my moves and accidentally knocked the 8 inch chococlate chip cookie pie out of her hands while doing my pas-de-basque. Surprisingly though, the cookie was tossed in the air, but landed perfectly on the table without a scratch on it. It was a sight to behold. It tasted alright, but the show was much more worthwhile. First, let me just say that our server was very sweet and helpful, as were the staff members that brought out the food. We definitely don't blame them at all. That being said, it was a bad experience overall. We went for brunch on the Sunday of a holiday weekend and service was extremely slow because, as far as we could tell, our server was acting as both waitress and bartender for the entire upstairs. Not sure if it was bad scheduling or someone had called out, but it was very frustrating and led to us mostly just sitting around for over 2 hours. The drinks were okay, but overpriced ($6 to add a shot of Baileys to a $5.75 cold brew coffee is a bit steep). When the food finally came out, they completely forgot one of our friend's main dish, only bringing out the extra sides they'd requested (which seemed like just the byproduct of being severely understaffed). I ordered the vegan week tofu hash, which was not a hash in any semblance of the word. It came out as a brick of tofu on top of some tater tots and peppers, with sauce poured overtop. I ate some of it (after waiting for over an hour, I was starving and willing to try to make it work), but the tofu was terrible (as bricks of tofu generally are), and the whole dish was really disappointing. They did take it off the bill when I said that I hadn't liked it, which we felt was appropriate. Two of my friends enjoyed their food (the shrimp & grits and the chicken waffle sandwich), so that was good. In general, we spent a huge amount of time sitting around, trying to flag down the very overworked staff members, and eating overpriced, mediocre-to-bad food. It's the worst experience I've ever had at Wicked Sisters, but given that I've never had an actually good experience there (always overpriced, always mediocre), I won't be going back. read more

I decided on the short rib family meal. It did not disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, perfectly accompanied by roasted carrots. (I'm generally not a huge fan of cooked carrots). Has an old world tavern/hotel feel to it, like we could have retired for the evening upstairs. The bartender and server were patient and helped us find something good on the bar menu for our group that included a vegetarian, a carnivore, and a gluten-free requirement. Both took a long time to come out, but they were slammed for restaurant week. The restaurant week dinner menu entree options were limited and didn't excite us, so we ordered off of the regular menu. Unfortunately, the crab cake sandwich was just ok. It was fishy tasting and meh with a roll that was too big for the size of the cake. Recently, I just had a killer one at Ethel's creole kitchen so this one didn't compare. My friend's burger came out super well done, even though she ordered it medium. With that being said, the sides were major! You can pay $2 extra to upgrade your side choices. I got the Brussel sprouts and she got the Mac and cheese so we could try both. The Mac and cheese is the star here. Large spiraled pasta cooked perfectly al dente with smoky cheese---heaven! We both wanted more. The Brussel sprouts were good too--they were more like kale chips, meaning the leaves were individually peeled off the sprout and roasted that way, so it wasn't what I was expecting, but delish nonetheless. First time here... Tried the steak & fries, overall pretty tasty. The steak was cooked well, the flavor was good...not great. The fries were very good, they were thicker like steak fries. The dish also came with some veggies; cabbage, peppers, tomatoes & green beans which was very tasty. I tried the cucumber lemonade which was very good, light & refreshing. The dessert menu sounded good but I did not get to try anything since I was full from dinner. The restaurant has valet parking which is a plus since street parking can be hard to find. A solid 'meh', I'm afraid. It was a mccabe burger for me which was very flat and unremarkable. And why the iceberg lettuce when real greens accompanied everything else? A thin translucent square (huh?) slice of 140% tasteless swiss cheese was also very suss. The mussels were spot on, however. My companion got the steak pita which came with chunks of meat that were chewy to the point where only half of any given piece could be chewed up. When brought up to a server, the floor guy arrived with 2 trainees in tow so they could see how a situation like this could be handled. The solution? A cursory mention of, "oh, sorry about that. They must have cut it wrong. Can i take the plate away?". Not a stellar response to some meat that was simply gnarly and not 'cut the wrong way'. There was no recognition (or reaction) that there was an unhappy/hungry customer. Not a great lesson to impart to new staff. Message received. Not sure what happened, but a pre-pandemic visit was intriguing food wise and this post-pandemic one was a simpler menu and muy mucho 'meh'. read more

I cannot give this place more than 3 stars overall, and these stars are for the tasty food and excellent manager who took care of our table after we made a complaint. We went to Wicked Sisters to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we were looking forward to trying a new brunch place with our friend. After the two of us were seated, our server said hello from across the patio and gestured that she would be with us shortly. She seemed friendly, and we assumed that's how the rest of the experience would be. When she came to our table, she said hello and introduced herself as Sondra. My name is Sandra (commonly pronounced Sondra), so I was excited that we had the same name and commented "I'm also Sandra!" For some reason, this triggered an aggressive response from Sondra. She interrogated me on whether I spelled it with an "o" or an "a," and when I said "a" she rudely dismissed me saying "Nope, that's not the same." I thought that was bizarre behavior to be so territorial about a name, so I shrugged and responded that they're still the same name (because they are both variants of Alexandra or in some cases Cassandra, both of which have Greek origins). She then got combatively pedantic and began "teaching" me on how her name was derived from the "French Alexandra," to which I added that the origin is still Greek (Alexandra). This escalated into an argument over the historic origins of our names with her "teaching" me about my own name, which was plain ridiculous when we were there to order food and not debate etymology. My husband even jumped in to inform her that I am a historian, which made her pause for 10 seconds. This recap is only part of the entire exchange.... If anyone reading got bored of that history lesson, well you can imagine how incredulous it was to deal with it as a customer who was just trying to make friendly small talk before ordering a meal.... My husband and I were offended by her combative and condescending tone. Because it was my husband's birthday, I tried to let it go but when I sincerely asked her what she recommended for sides, her reply was a sarcastic "well what do YOU like, SONdra?" As an Asian woman who is often perceived to be younger than I am, it makes me wonder whether she would have challenged someone else in this manner over something so casual and insignificant like a comment that our names are similar. What I sensed was that she was putting me in my place. We were all more upset at the disrespect than the actual pointless argument. After all of this, the service at our table was inattentive and frankly rude. So, my husband went to the manager and told her that we would leave if we did not get a new server. Fortunately, the manager/another staff took over our table. From this point, our experience improved dramatically. Our food was delicious (husband got Insanity Burger and I got the Wicked Rachel), and the manager (Camille, I think) gave us drinks on the house. We really appreciated the manager's response and her kind attention to our table. Based on the initial experience alone, I would have given this place 1 star but the second half of the experience was pleasant after we got our food. I honestly cannot say that I will be back because the first server left such a bad taste in my mouth. read more
