REALLY great brewery near downtown Asheville- my favorite one actually!! Absolutely loved the beer, and the atmosphere here. The brewery is quite large, with several tables both inside and outside; it does lack some parking though so expect to walk a bit. Outside and inside are dog-friendly (if well-behaved and on leash), and is a large grassy field, filled with Adirondack chairs, and wooden picnic tables. Everyone outside is enjoying music, playing ball, eating and drinking, and just having a great time (very family/kid friendly). There were a few food trucks outside- one in particular was a grilled cheese food truck ("Melt Your Heart"), and it was one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had!!! I loved the beer at this brewery- I only drink sour beers, and was so happy to see they had 9 available!!! I've never gotten a sour flight (this was a first), so that was really cool! They also offer wine, tea, and cider. The staff were all really helpful, and friendly here. They were attentive to us, willing to give tons of samples of whatever beer we wanted to try, and made us feel right at home. Would definitely return to this brewery next time we are in town!

One of my favorite breweries in Asheville - the entire experience from start to finish. Beautiful view of the once vibrant River Arts District. The proximity to the river did not help them much during Helene but glad to see they are back and up and running. No kitchen/food menu but they have food trucks every day! I love Bun Intended (the fried chicken plate hits the spot and the green papaya salad is FIRE (almost literally bc it's spicy lol). Most recently I enjoyed the smash burger from Smasheville! Be sure to try all the beers, both seasonal and classic. Order a flight if you're indecisive or go all in on a full pour. My favorite is the Juice Force - tastes like Red, is what our favorite bartender told us back in '22. You won't be asked to tip when closing your tab but if you love your bartender, they do have a physical tip jar/bucket. We asked our favorite bartender if we could leave him a tip and he said "no need! We're paid a living wage here!" And I'm definitely super supportive of restaurants or bars willing to pay their employees a living wage! Dog friendly inside and out! As long as your dog is friendly and leashed, enjoy the AC, or enjoy the sun on a beautiful day on the covered or uncovered patios. Free EV charging! Although I haven't wanted to advertise it to ensure I get a spot whenever I visit... last time I was here was before Helene and they were renovating the big green yard so not sure if there has been any change to the parking since then. Even if this isn't the only New Belgium location, it's still one of my favorite stops when I'm in Asheville!

Came for the full tour on Saturday. Checkin was easy and there were about 14 of us on the tour. KT was our guide and provided a lot of great information and history about New Belgian and brewing beer. KT was super personable and a great storyteller! I like the way they incorporated samples throughout the tour and the number and size of samples alone is worth the price of the tour. But I also thoroughly enjoyed the tour itself along with the tour surprise. Beautiful grounds at a very good location on the river. My favorite location so far of the 14 breweries I have been to in Asheville. Definitely recommend trying just for the location alone.

This was one of our favorite breweries we visited. It was within walking distance from our rental house so convenient as can be. Good people, great vibe and amazing beer. Beautiful property and I'd love to come back for a visit when it's warmer.

AMAZING brewery that the kids brought us to and we have a seat overlooking the French broad river. I'm not that into beer unless it's a gluten-free so I'm drinking Savignon Blanc instead. They are very dog friendly and they give out treats to all dogs! The guitar player is really great, he's playing Tom Petty and he has a velvety voice. It's a great vibe here and they have clothing and merchandise to support the wonderful facility!

Looking to get our weekend away in this beer Mecca started off right, we picked up two tickets to the 45 minute free brewery tour at New Belgium. They offer several other tour options, the others are a bit longer though, and have a small cost to take. We didn't think we had the attention for anything much longer and opted for a short and simple tour to get the fun started Our tour guide Emma was friendly, and quick to answer all the questions people had for her. The tour was informative telling us about the history and extensive clean up of the land before building the brewery, as well as their brewing process, and offered samples of their flagship Fat Tire beer. Overall it was a good, informative, though simplified tour. The guide was friendly, the beer was tasty and we had a good time. Beautiful facility, and a great addition to the Asheville brewing community We enjoyed another beer after the tour in their beautiful"liquid center". They don't serve food, but did have food trucks parked out front

The space is large with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The draft list had a fair share of beers available. The venue seemed clean while we were there. I am giving it a 3 solely because I'm not a fan of any of the beer they have on tap. Tonight I had an Octoberfest beer that was quite forgettable. It's a shame, nice venue, not so great beer.

Bar in main building - check in here.

Our friends recommended this brewery's 90 minute tour, and we were so glad they did. We checked in for our tour at the bar in the main building at the parking lot. We had 10 minutes before the tour, so we sampled a couple of beers, looked at the merchandise for sale (hats, tees, socks, etc.), and used the clean bathrooms that had cup holders in each stall. We met outside with another couple for our tour with Lydia, who was an exceptional guide. We were on the 2PM tour on July 9, 2024. We started at the entrance to the brewery, walking over the creek that was lush with greenery. Lydia told us about the environmentally minded founders who bought the brown site in 2012. After renovating and building on it, New Belgium opened in 2016. First stop was the brew house, with 5 vessels for brewing beer. We each sampled one of the Voodoo Ranger IPAs. We had four different ones: Fat Tire (Tom liked this one), 1985 Mango (Husband liked this one), Domingo Paloma (really good!), and 1554, a black lager (Tom's wife enjoyed this). We looked into each Tun, and saw details about what was going on in each by looking up at the HMI video panel. The next stop was a hallway with a cow shaped board full of detritus from the grounds when it was dug up and built upon: keys, tools, nuts, bolts and more. Letters on the wall were pictures from the past use of the area: circus folk, cars and trucks, farm animals and more. To get downstairs, we could take the stairs or slide down the slide. Guess what we 4 did?? And we loved it!! Bicycles were on display everywhere - at the entrance, in the brew house, above our heads. After one year at the brewery, an employee receives the newest edition mountain bicycle. We walked past a wooden heart (employees place a trinket on it after working here) to a replica bar from Brugs, Brussels, where the idea of New Belgium blossomed. We were invited to sample one of 3 New Belgium sours: Tart Lychee, Trippell, and La Folie. Our favorite was Tart Lychee. We walked the hallway - peeked inside the cooler full of New Belgium beers & walked past a room where several employees were testing and creating beers. Our last stop was a room overlooking the conveyer belts and the employees packaging bottles (not operational on 7/9) and cans (fully operational). This was our last chance to sample Voodoo Ranger IPAs: Mango, Imperial, Juice Force, and Tropic Force. Juice Force was my favorite! Lydia posed for me with a Voodoo Ranger Bobblehead. She was an exuberant, knowledgeable, and well spoken guide! Lydia took us outside, and we walked a path by the creek back to the entrance, and main building. The area is beautiful! We highly recommend coming here to just look around, have a beer, or take this informative & delicious tour!

Located near Asheville along the French Broad River that offers brewery tours and beer tastings near the River Arts District. Open daily 12-8 They do not serve food but there is usually a food truck on site. Beers are super cheap. Had the Mountain Time which is a light lager. If you don't want to sit inside the tasting room overlooking the river, there are plenty of tables outside near the food truck. Great for families. Parking is available in the lot or on the street.

This was my favorite brewery we went to while visiting Asheville!! They have an extensive beer menu, dogs are allowed inside and outside, and they were food trucks parked out front that we grabbed some snacks at. Would love to return!

No trip to Asheville is complete without New Belgium. This is always my first brewery I hit when I come in town! The variety is always on point and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Also a huge bonus that they seem to love and care for their community.

Ask the Community - New Belgium Brewing

The daily public tour says the tickets are available day of on a first come first serve basis. Can I call and buy tickets or do I need to be in person to buy the tickets?

You can book on line 3 hours before the tour, but after that, you need to call. We called at noon for 4, and got the 2PM tour. Another couple was with us. $15 each was a good price for the 90 minute tour 7/9/24.

Are there TVs to watch football on Sundays?

I don't recall TVs during our visit and we sat at the big bar inside. Which means if they do have them, they are limited.

Do you offer anything for folks with Celiac's Disease or a gluten allergy? Wine, liquor, cider?

Yes! There is always 1 wine option (usually on tap) and New Belgium makes hard seltzers and hard refreshers that are gluten free.

    Do they serve wine?

No, they do not offer wine.

For the upcoming Labor Day music concert, is it Teen-friendly? Are teens (15-19) allowed into music venues at night?

I'd call to dbl check but it should be fine. I've seen lots of kids there in the past.

    Do they serve food?

New Belgium doesn't sell food, but they usually have a food truck there and you can bring your food inside. They publish a food truck schedule on their website: https://www.newbelgium.com/brewery/asheville/food-truck-schedule/

Are there TVs in the taproom? If so, curious if they play nfl games on Sunday?

I don’t believe there are any.

    Is it dog friendly?

Yes, but after you order, you need to take the dogs outside. Dogs cannot come on tours.

Right away the place had a cool vibe, not just a regular brewery where you go in and drink a beer. It had a lot of interesting decor and you could tell they really lean into their own weird, artsy style. The decor was colorful and fun, with murals and random quirky details all around. It kind of had this dark but playful look to it, which somehow worked really good. The beer garden area also gave it a laid back feel, and the whole place had way more character then a normal taproom. The beer menu was creative too. There were plenty of beer choices and I got the Sinister Gaze of the Unapologetic Imperial Stout. With a cool name like that it fit my mood from the heat. With cocoa nibs, sea salt, vanilla bean, and that rich stout flavor, it sounded bold and kind of dramatic, which fits the place perfect.

The outdoor seating area is spacious and fun with old cars turned into self imposed selfie stations (guilty as charged) and a haven for sticker placements. Bartenders were great once served. However, on NYE you would think that both bars would be open?!? Having a huge line deterred me from getting another beer.

Lot's of eclectic spice and vegetable beers, but the pairings are generally interesting and well done. They also have a few more traditional beer styles, if that's what you're in the mood for. The space is also very nicely done. Plenty of room at the bar. A somewhat dark and muted color tone that created the feel of a slightly rustic and understated space. I liked it. In terms of food, I ordered a mediterranean bowl and was pretty happy with it. Reasonably well presented. Some evidence of investing effort in creating an individualized concept. The ingredients were also very fresh. The toppings also fell within a reasonable balance. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't the best salad of this type that I've had, but it made for something crisp and fresh to pair with a pint. All that having been said, my suggestion would be to go for the beer. It's quite possible if I'd have visited during the day that my review would've been 5 stars. However, we came at night (well... winter night it was like 6pm?). It was dark. First, the parking lot. It looked like a scene from a horror movie where everyone gets killed. There was no actual parking lot, just some grass along the road where people were parked. There was a chainlink fence gate that was barely open, with an overgrown sign, and it looked like you were walking into a haunted factory. We walked in the brewery and it was only light by faint lights and candles. We jokingly started calling it the MURDER BREWERY in a spooky voice. I see the beautiful plants in the pictures in reviews here and we saw none of that. I have less-than-stellar night vision and actually held onto my wife's shoulders for her to lead me around. They also have a lot of tables without chairs. Maybe that's trendy, but really I want to sit and chat while I try your beer. I don't want to have to stand around.
