It's a bummer that Wienerschnitzel closed its Irvine location, but I wanted to introduce my daughter to this fast food chain so we made the drive out to Lake Forest. I remember seeing a promo about their unbelievable $6 chili cheese deal which included two chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries...now that's what I'm talkin' about! I didn't see any signage about it when we arrived at the restaurant and it wasn't on the menu, but I was able to order the deal. I also picked up two corn dogs for my daughter. Service was friendly and they even brought our order out to us when it was ready. My only gripe was that the air conditioning was busted and coincidentally it was a hot day outside. They had some electric fans running indoors, but a meal just isn't as enjoyable when you're sweating while eating. I also downloaded their app and besides the ordering function, I didn't see any reason to use or keep the app because Wienerschnitzel doesn't appear to offer points or rewards accumulation, membership deals, etc. Having said that, I'll be back next time when I'm hungry for a hot dog! read more

I got to try Wienerschnitzel for the first time after signing up for their email list. They sent me a coupon to try one of their Chili dogs for FREE and I took their offer! The front lobby was very clean and the woman at the front desk was very kind. I wish I had gotten her name. The Chili dog itself was good. The flavor of the chili could have used a little more seasoning for my tastebuds. Yet, I'd give it a 4/5. We had an absolutely wonderful time at this Wienerschnitzel. The service was professional, and the lady who took our order was genuinely warm and welcoming. My daughter didn't like the blue raspberry ice cream and they gave us a vanilla one for free and let us keep the blue raspberry one. I however liked the blue raspberry one. It was delicious very nice atmosphere. However, I would say one thing is that there booths are a little too crowded ( the benches are closer to the table that is typical for a fast food restaurant). We went through the drive-thru at the Lake Forest, CA store, thinking it would be fast and easy to get the "4 for $4 special" on Wednesdays. It was a good deal, until we received food that looked like it had been dropped on the floor, picked up, then wrapped! These are pictures of what my wife and I saw when we opened up the wrappers. Simply gross looking! Not taking any chances that they may have been dropped on the floor. We threw the dogs in the trash. I sent a complaint on the Wienerschnitzel website. A Mr. Gonzales replied that "all locations are independently owned and operated." He said he would forward my concern to the franchisee."That was it. The store never reached out to apologize, not even a peep! Apparently, the corporate office and the store do not give two s**ts about customer satisfaction! They offer dine-in, drive-thru, and online ordering for pickup or delivery. Excellent options! There is always parking. Restaurant looks clean inside. The cashier lady has always been very kind and funny with us. So is the manager when he is available. When we come here, it is usually around 6:30 pm. So the restaurant is not busy at all. Our order is ready within a few minutes. My wife loves the jalapeño poppers from here, I usually just go for the mini corn dogs. read more

Juan says I would have to come in to get a refund even though this was an online delivery order made with my credit card. I will never order from this place again. Do you ever drive by a place 1000 times and never stop? I don't know why I stopped today, but I'm glad that I did. For the uninitiated, there's three dogs here. All beef, Polish, and blend. The dogs come in a bunch of different forms: corn dog, Chicago style, sauerkraut, chili. They also have fries. And shakes. That's all I have to say, it's not the highest quality but you get what you pay for and prices are reasonable. It's pretty tasty, and I'm gonna say something controversial: these thousand island fries that they have are better than the animal fries at In-N-Out. They have a lot of the same ingredients. Thousand island, cheese, fries. But these come with chili as well, and that takes this to the next level. This was my first visit to any Weinerschnitzel. We did not have them in the Midwest before I moved to California. I was impressed by the variety of hot dog flavors. I ordered the Texas BBQ one and the Chicago Style, both with all beef hot dogs. It was a slow day indoors, so I can't comment on the service. Here's my take on their food: I think the toppings carry the flavor. The Texas BBQ one was good, and the Chicago one was good enough. The hot dogs themselves are not as tasty as the ones I cook at home, which are Applegate brand hot dogs cooked in butter and olive oil until they are crispy on the outside. Clearly, I've spoiled myself. In general, I think fast food places such as Weinerschnitzel would benefit from cooking their food in higher quality ingredients, such as olive oil, lard, or even bacon grease. Vegetable oil or boiled water simply won't do. 4 stars on account of the variety and flavorful toppings, but the hot dogs themselves should be cooked differently. read more

It's Friday night March 1st and I'm personally feeling low and decided to spend part of my last couple hundred dollars on a root beer float. The young man who served me - who I've spoken to briefly in the past and liked immediately- showed just the best customer service at the very end of the open lobby day. As I walked out I even spilt the remaining tiny bit of float on the floor when I dropped my cup. He came out and mopped it and emphasized that it was no big deal and not to worry it's cool. I just find his work ethic and kindness worth mentioning and if he's in line for a raise maybe management can snap their fingers and make it happen because I work in customer service and sales and I know I'm not alone in noting how agreeable he is - but also the staff seem to be polite generally.. I didn't get his name I was too tired and embarrassed from the float faux pas. Oh, and also if you haven't tried Wienerschnitzel's rootbeer float, I get one pretty much every other night. While most reviews are centered around the wieners, this one is about ice cream. Ice cream? Yes, this is a Wienerschnitzel - Tastee Freez location so this is about the Tastee Freez side of things. The interior is dated and has a 1970s feel. I walked up to the register and my order was taken by a smiling young woman brimming with enthusiasm and positive energy. She was working both the drive-thru and the front counter, dashing back and forth. I ordered an M&M sundae with caramel sauce. It was very inexpensive. My treat was ready quickly. The soft serve ice cream was what you'd expect at any fast food joint. There were a few mini M&Ms on top and more in the bottom of the small cup. She was generous on the sauce which was the best part of the sundae. I'm sure kids would appreciate this far more than I did. read more

But unfortunately the last dipped cone I got not only was icy but the chocolate dip flavor was lacking in chocolate. Very waxy. Having ate at the restaurant for quite a while, I always appreciate the food that is served there as comforting and warm. While the food obviously isn't the healthiest, that's a given considering it's a fast food restaurant. Overall, the warm feeling of the food and the quick service from the cashiers and drive through workers contribute to an overall good environment that can help with long work days. read more

12-23-19 Update :-) I received really great service this morning. I arrived at around 9:30 am, thinking this is when they opened. I was let in early and allowed to order. They actually open at 10:00 am. After receiving my food was told where the condiments were located. Food was excellent and the quality of their food has been consistently good. It took him a while to find a bag for me after we were done eating. My chili cheese dog was really salty. I think it was because I got the all beef hot dog and not the original hot dog. I ate at the Wienerschnitzel on 20652 Lake Forest Drive in Lake Forest. I ordered a Polish Sandwich: sourdough bread; with Polish sausage, mayo, mustard & pickles. You could taste the Polish sausage, the pickles, the mustard, and the mayo, a nice combination of flavors. I'm not a mustard friend, but in this case it helped. Green Chili Fries: green peppers, green chili, bacon, and, yellow cheese on top of the fries. The chili fries were spicy hot with those green peppers, but you can still enjoy the taste of bacon, the yellow cheese, and that green chili on those fries. The place was nice and clean. The cashier was nice and friendly. The preparation of the meal was great. I ordered a old fashion Strawberry Sunday: vanilla ice cream, strawberries, whip cream, and a cherry on top, it had a smooth rich flavor with chucks of strawberries & sauce, for a delightful treat! Service was good. Pleasant. Store seemed clean. Food was good. My complaint is presentation. I order a mustard dog. When I unwrapped it, the mustard was only on 1/2 of the dog. Also got a chocolate dipped cone. The girl either rushed through the process, or was not familiar on how to dip the cone. When it was handed to me, there were huge holes in the chocolate which allowed the ice cream to start running out. The chocolate was also running down the cone, as it was still "wet". It is always best when they make a fresh batch for you but sometimes you're not that lucky as I have had the not so fresh experience here. Good service is something you can't expect here for some reason but again just look past that and just remember you're at a Wienerschnitzel. The food was made quickly and it was hot. During this pandemic, it seems like a safe place to go as the worker had a mask and gloves. I've read another review that said they didn't so I was a little worried but thankfully I didn't experience that. If people are really worried about eating out and catching the coronavirus then they shouldn't eat out at all because you can never be 100% sure you won't catch it. The chili cheese fries were delicious and hot. I also asked for a Dr. Pepper with no ice which they were able to get right. Overall quick and great experience. My boyfriend and I really wanted some tastee ice cream and the closest location to my house said their machine was broken. So we busted a mission to the next closest one to try and get there before they closed. When we pulled up to the drive thru, the loudspeaker said "we are currently closed" but then the dude working (we think his name was James?) spoke over it and said "ahhhh I can squeeze ya in" and we immediately asked excited and frantically "is your ice cream machine working??" And he said yea! He had such a great personality and I hope he gets a raise or something. Not the best hot dogs or burgers in the world.... BUT, great value. And fantastic service at this location. Our orders are always correct, staff are super friendly, and it's always a pleasure to eat here. Bathrooms are kept pretty clean too. There's plenty of times I choose to eat here over somewhere "nicer" because it's simply a better (and good) overall experience. Cudos to the owner and staff, ya'll are doing a great job. read more
