I sure miss having a Wienerschnitzel in Austin TX. Now we have to make a little road trip to San Marcos, TX, but it's well worth the drive. We like the Chili Cheese Dogs, so we order the #1 combo (2 Chili Cheese Dogs, fries and a drink). We add onions too. I/we really like the way the cheese melts into the chili and bun. The bun is really fresh, warm and soft. The fries were hot and tasty. Everything was delicious! The server behind the counter was polite and friendly. He made sure he understood what we wanted in our order. We got our food really fast. The inside of the restaurant was very clean, tables, counters, booths and floors. Nice welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Even though we have to drive a few miles, I'll/we'll be returning customers. OK, this is a hotdog place, and I have never ordered a hotdog here. I was drawn in by their tasty freeze ice cream sign on a hot day. I tried their chocolate dip cone, and it was really really good. The ice cream was creamy, and the chocolate actually tasted like chocolate, but it was dipped in. It was much better than the DQ competitor. read more

Holiday weekend and we're enjoying giving in to cravings between the places that remain open this time of year. We each got kraut and junkyard dogs and split a chili cheeseburger and polish sandwich. This is a good lower cost, open-later place to succumb to the siren call of salt fat and carb snacks. Back in the day I'd often upgrade the dog to brats or sausage and the steamed bun to a pretzel bun, but that was back when eating out was cheaper and these days we're here less often while trying to not need larger pants. The best item bringing satisfaction for cost IMO is the Polish sandwich: split sausage, pickle spear and cheese on untoasted rye/mustard. Straight up chili dog cravings we bring to the abuelas at Chili Dog Stand, but for a more varied menu on occasion Wienerschnitzel hits the spot. read more

I LOVE Wienerschnitzel but now live in a state where they do not exist! Visiting Texas for the eclipse, I realized that there are Wienerschnitzels here, so I rerouted our trip to make a visit here! They were everything I had been dreaming of since I realized I could actually have some Wienerschnitzel during this vacation! Basically it is almost an infinite variety of hot-dogs and a few burgers. Since I didn't see anything I had already scoped out, I ordered in a rush. And, I guess - to paraphrase the knight in Raiders of the Lost Ark: I chose poorly. The BBQ Burger tasted good, but was definitely a jaw muscle strengthening workout. I'm not sure if it was the bun or the well cooked burger that was so chewy, but it gave me a work out. The fries were very good so it made up for it somewhat. Finally, I tried the Jalapeno poppers. I don't know what Marketing person labeled it, but I'm sure there was some Legal involvement in some obscure disclaimer - 'cause there weren't any identifiable Jalapeno peppers in that thing. Maybe somewhere in small print it will say "Jalapeno flavor" somewhere. If "Jalapeno flavor" means extreme heat with no flavor of a pepper, then they nailed it. The nuggets of fried cheese were creamy on the inside with a cheese that was amped up on the heat level. Didn't notice anything nearing the green lightwave in there either. Go if you are in a hurry or love hotdogs. Otherwise, spare yourself the culinary workout. read more

I am absolutely in love with their cucumber lemonade! Yep, I said it. I was hesitant to try it, but oh my! It's my favorite, and I'm sure it will be removed and seasonal. At 1005 in the morning we had to knock numerous times on the window to get the employees, 3 that we could see, attention. Even then it was obvious they did not want to unlock the doors. Finally one woman did open the doors. You could tell by her attitude she was not happy. When Maria finally got to the register to take my order, she could not operate the register. She tried numerous times with no success. The others would not help her. She finally got to the point for my credit card. Of course she couldn't do that either. I've always seen this place driving past as I leave Sam's Club but never thought to stop in because I usually eat the hotdogs from Sam's. I had a coupon for a free chili dog with the purchase of one. New favorite junk food - Honey battered mini corn dog bites. I've never been a fan of their larger brethren; but for some reason these mini bites are amazing. I ordered them as part of little Rooster's kids combo and he didn't want anything to do with them. He instead concentrated on his small fries with his juice. I had no problem knocking off every single one of them. That sweet fried batter, chicken mini dogs, and mustard. My meal with two chili dogs with cheese was ok grub. I dined here a couple of times years ago and the menu hasn't changed much except they don't have onion rings anymore. Who doesn't like Wienerschneitzel?! We tend to stop here on our way to Austin as it's not far off 35 and has a drive thru. The prices are low and the food is great. Is it healthy? Heck no!
