On the day of my appointment, was able to drop off my car in the morning, and had a chance to speak with Andrew about my squeaking breaks and issue with my AC. Brought a car here and was told their technician needed to take it out for a test drive. The technician drove it home and used my car AS THEIR PERSONAL CAR FOR TWO DAYS DESPITE HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES and when I picked up the car they had used 25% of a tank. Took it to lunch, took it home, etc. Amazing they don't even bother to unplug the dashcam. When leaving they lied to me about washing the car, insisting it was washed and that the rain made it dirty. Considering the bug splatter on the front bumper and all the brake dust on the front wheels, this too was a lie. The repair was completed, but I later found out from a different Mercedes independent mechanic that documents from Mercedes need to purchase the correct part. So what likely happened is that I paid full price for a used part and they just reprogrammed it to work on my car. Given what happened with lying about a simple car wash, I would not be surprised if this happened. read more

Next appointment is Monday and told him I need a 30 thousand mile service the gentleman using the far right computer. This is my first time try their rental service, very impressive! Hank and William were super friendly and very considerate when helping us out with a sprinter rental. The Mercedes Sprinter Van we had was very clean and ran great for our drive to Las Vegas and back for the Memorial Day. The van looks like brand new with nice scent inside. If you have a BMW x5 v8 (2006 or similar), I do NOT recommend taking your car here. Please take your BMW to a shop that specializes in BMW, not just "European" cars but, SPECIFICALLY, for BMW. They use aftermarket parts, not BMW OEM, and unfortunately my BMW might have been too strong against those inferior quality parts. (Or maybe it's old and weak thus needs better quality parts to withstand a v8 engine.) I was not aware they used aftermarket parts before thus the "new" hoses kept breaking down, or there would be coolant leaks here and there and I had to go back to the shop several times. And BMW has A LOT of nuts, bolts, screws, and parts. A more experienced or someone who specializes in BMW would know and remember to tighten those screws. I went in and came out only to find months later that my bottom cover was missing. And another time, my sway bar was lose ( no wonder there was a period of time that I felt my car shakes/swings whenever I make a turn or hit a bump); they found out that my car was missing some screws. So I had to pay more to get them re-tighten. And during mid-2016 to the end of 2017, I only visited SilverStar (went 8+ times) for my auto repair, so there was no other repair shops to blame. And since they might not be familiar with BMW, they had a harder time pin pointing where the coolant leaks came from. And there was one time that I told them my car leaks oil and they told me that there was no oil leak but a water leak. I'm not sure if they were lying because anyone who goes under the hood can see oil leaks. But at that time I was inexperienced thus I let them fix the water leak, which created even more problem (coolant leaks and car making noises-drove me crazy. Starting that time was when my car went downhill). I felt like I ended up paying more to fix problems that weren't there before. And even after several visits and "fixes", my car finally stopped leaking coolant ONLY after I took my car elsewhere to repair. So if you need a replacements of water pump, hoses, coolant expansion tanks, spark plugs, gaskets, belts, etc., basically anything that requires dismantling many parts, take your BMW to a shop that specializes in BMW. Or your BMW might suffer, unless you're lucky. Coincidentally, I went to another shop that specializes in BMW, and they were fixing a BMW x5 that SilverStar had messed up on. Something was still wrong with that car. So that shop had to replace SilverStar's new spark plugs with New BMW OEM spark plugs. Seriously... And their advisors might not know BMW that well either. I should have realized, in the beginning, when the advisor didn't know how to open the front of my BMW x5. He was not aware that we need to pull a lever to unlock. And of the many oil changes (four times) they did on my BMW x5, the mechanics didn't or forgot to reset the oil service light. For a while, I thought it was broken so I didn't inquire, but it wasn't the case. Lastly, I didn't realize until after several oil changes with SilverStar that they didn't change my oil filters. It was when I took it to another shop for oil change and flush that the mechanics there told me there were a lot of old gunks and the screws to the filter were difficult to remove/stuck. This surprised me, because I had oil changes done 4+ times in a 1.5 year time frame. It shouldn't be too difficult to remove. So I recommend to check under the hood when you do oil changes with SilverStar. BUT, if your car isn't a BMW [Toyota/Mercedes(maybe)etc Toyotas and Hondas aren't as time consuming to dismantle], I would recommend SilverStar for the following reasons: 1. They are flexible with emergency drop offs. 2. They provide free loaner cars. 3. Car wash/rinse 4. Affordable pricing (but if BMW, I would not risk using cheaper parts. Learned the hard way. But I would take my old Toyota or other brands of cars here. But... hmm or maybe.., I remember I bought a windshield wiper from SilverStar before and the quality was bad, it was Bosch but not a good wiper. It made noises and doesn't wipe away the rain drops too well.) *And for those who are curious, you will recognize a real BMW OEM by the logo. All BMW OEM has its crest/circular logo on all the parts. In 2.5 years, I have spent $6400+ in repair and maintenance on my BMW x5. And $2500+ was spent with SilverStar out of the three repair shops I have visited. And in 1.5 year time span, I had to knock on SilverStar's door 6+ times (not including the 4+ times of oil changes). So my post isn't just based on one or two experiences. -Review was written in 2018. Forgot to post. But no major problem with my BMW since I haven't gone back to WiHa. read more
