Over the years, they've serviced several different German cars for me, and I've consistently had good experiences. Most recently, my SL55 with ABC suspension developed a leak--a repair that usually comes with scary and expensive possibilities. M-Star was able to diagnose the issue as worn O-rings on the pressure lines and fixed it at a reasonable price. That kind of expertise and transparency is why I keep coming back. My friend recommended M Star because I could not find an honest place where an estimate was given for a tune-up in addition to installing a spark-plug, amongst other things my car needed updates for...So, I came to M-Star and was very impressed with the estimate they gave me, their customer service, and their kind attitude towards me. I came back a second time for a tune up and they discovered my tires were worn out ( I did own those tires for over 5 years ) and the brake pads were worn out as well. They took clear photos, showed them to me while talking me through the details of the of the damages and the options which I can choose, or not to, in order to solve this issue. This is the place my parents have been coming to for over a decade and this is the place I started coming to as soon as I could drive. Mac is really professional and gets the job done. In fact most people don't even come unless he's here. I came in today to get my car maintenance and change the oil. It was around 11am and they had a lot of cars they were already working on so I knew the wait would be long. Either way they fit me in. They close at 3 but they stayed an extra hour to work on my car. I was out at around 4. They also fit in my moms car for a quick oil change despite being backlogged and already working over time. The shop has a nice waiting room. Comfy seats and free wifi. There are also desks for if you need to do work. Lastly, they also have wireless phone chargers which totally saved me. Was referred by a nearby smog check place for a MBenz sprinter van quick repair in order to pass smog check. After dropping off the van at the shop, was told they needed to clean the def-fluid residue and then the vehicle should be up and running. And that is when the nightmare started! Supposedly after the clean job was done, was informed by the service rep that the vehicle couldn't start at all because the onboard computer needed a master reset?! And the vehicle was in their shop for 2+ months and at one point the service rep went on a vacation and no one could tell me what exactly was going on with the repair. At the end, I was informed the vehicle was sent to the nearby MBenz dealer to replace the master onboard computer and paid a hefty amount for the repair. Afterward, had a conversation with the service rep at the MBenz dealer and was told this auto shop messed up the computer and didn't know how to reset it and just send it in to the dealer for the replacement service at my expense. Service is awesome here, and by that I mean honest and genuine, they take responsibility for their work, are fair and give the best deals for what you are trying to get done. I had vibrations in acceleration on my minivan's steering wheel and drivers side for a while, and after changing a whole new set of tires and also get alignment done, it didn't go away. After asking 4 different places I decided to go with M STAR, since my mother-in-law had taken the van in before, they said they would waive the $100 inspection fee. (It's higher than a small shop in Alhambra but cheaper than toyota dealer for sure). So now it's free, I'm happy, I take it in and they tell me a few hours later that the 2 axles are unbalanced and they'll need to replace. Turns out it's $900/ea original retail price, but they have OEM w labor&tax $320/ea. Ok, this is big drop for me, but I know it's really important as my wife and I share the same vehicle and we both did not like how dangerous the car felt w the vibrations. So I went ahead to confirm it, When I arrived to pick up the car, get this: They said before they changed these axles out for my mother in law so this is the part's fault and it's on them, - they are waiving the labor fees, - crediting me the full amount I paid last time (showed me the receipt from last time), - sending the fairy new axles in for warranty replacements (showed me pictures they took of the parts and the work) - and all I have to pay for is the difference between the new and better quality axles they put in today and the alignment. Ends up being $230! I'm very happy they were so honest and responsible and good business practice. This place is legit. The people are good. I have written my fair share of reviews on shady and evil auto shops who swindle you or unsuspecting, especially since we didn't know. They could've kept the work from last time from me, I wouldn't have known. But they chose to be honest and genuine, and you CANT ask any more from an auto shop!! Highly recommend!! read more

The car was driven for a month and was ok, then after a month the fricken car would just completely die while in motion on the freeway. The owner said to just pull over to the side and restart next time. Mofo if it's on the street that could be a possibility. But on freeway??!! I'm so fired up because this involves the safety of my family members well being. We ended up having to take it to another shop and change out all 24 cylinders. This place is a crook. Brought my SL class Mercedes Benz in too have a consultation on the hydraulics. Usually when you have a pricey car, Mechanics think they can charge you an arm and leg just to have the consultation. But this company as well as Eric. did a good job and assessed the problem to let me know what was going on even before charging me. I would rate zero star if possible. I was so upset about this place destroying my valued S600 that it has taken me a while to leave this review. My car was running perfectly, no leaks, no other issues only issue was AC not working. They said had to wait for part to come from Germany. Took over 4 weeks and thousands of dollars I ended up with AC that worked for 20 minutes and did not work after that. Mechanic drove the shit out of my car heat saturated my twin turbos, put a hole in my radiator, they took the car back and forth to a dealership 3 of 4 times without my authorization because they could not figure out the AC problem and at the end dealership West Covina MB who sold the AC compressor would not warranty compressor sold on M-Stars repair because it was done wrong ( did not flush the system). Top it off this guy charges me for my radiator his mechanic broke when replacing the compressor (i had no leaks prior to bringing car there). I left there $3000k less money, burnt turbos and no working AC and greasy footprints on my cream colored floor mats! The mechanics should not be trusted working on Camry's let alone a top line car like the $145k S600. BEWARE TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS BENZ TO THE DEALER SAVE YOURSELF HEADACHE $$ AND YOUR CAR!! read more

If I could give them negative stars I will do it without hesitation. I took my car for a back and forth fixing for the same problem over and over again and every time there's gotta be some new part I needed to change. Finally, the owner Mac told me why don't you leave the car here for a week let us fix it an drive around and see if the same problem gonna pop back up. I gladly accepted his idea thinking he is a trustworthy person and could finally get my car fix once for all this time around. One week passed I go and pickup the car and drive away. I recently took my car here to get my brakes inspected and they tried to scam me. They tried to tell me my brakes were overheating and all my brake fluid was gone... but somehow my brake pads were still thick. Plus they said my right side brakes were wearing extra. I knew something was wrong when they said that my brakes were wearing inconsistently and unequally. I took my car to the dealership service for $145 and they checked everything for me and confirmed w me that everything is fine. The dealer even told me this company was trying to rip me off. Had I listened to the liars here I would have spent $125 on each brake and then some for service and tax! My other friends have come here as well and have gotten ripped off too. Also, my friend's friend used to be the owner at the company M-Star took over (in terms of building space) and he has heard a lot of disappointing reviews about this place that involved scamming. Don't trust this place! Go somewhere more credible... or just your dealership who would know the most about your car anyway. The low rating on this company is corroborated. Be careful. read more

They specialize in Mercedes but service all make/model vehicles ranging from your basic oil changes, to alignments, to major repairs and services. Mac and Rodger both give you very straight forward explanations of what needs to be repaired. They use genuine Mercedes parts and show you the exact part before installation as confirmation. They also give you a free inspection and quote for any repairs or services you may need with no pressure at all. You gotta love the dozen or so blue plush lazyboy chairs in the lobby and free wifi and big screen on the wall while you wait for your vehicle. They definitely aren't the cheapest in the area, but definitely do quality work with top notch service. read more

Brought in for oil leak (main seal) and oil change (maintenance on), quoted $850 guarantee fixed on top of the trans pan leak they said they found, nothing else wrong. Picked up the car with maintenance light still on, check engine on, skid warning, and car won't engage 4th gear. Wt?!! Owner said they didn't touch the engine, but should I be expecting that after paying $850 ? Then they called and saying rodent chew up the cable (I heard of this excuse years back) but repairable, it will cost me $150 for a patch instead of $1000 for new set of cable. I said go ahead but forgot to request pictures so I called them back to make sure they will take picture of the damaged cable, the guy said yes they will take pictures. Picked up the car, no more light, shifted fine (at least for now).... but guess what happened to the pictures they promised? Not going back ... read more

Worst place ever!! I sent my Nissan GTR for tires change. Here is what happened: 1. I checked in on 9am this morning, they says car will be ready in coupl hours so I wait in there. I got my car back on 2pm, they started working on my car at 11:30am when I asked them about the status. 2. My rim got scratches and dents, not just one rim, two if them got damage and scratches. 3. Quoted me $20/tire plus $3 recycling fee, but once I sent in my car, they said the price is not right, it's $30/tires plus recycling get. 4. They took my car for "testing driving" over 10 min. And said they need to check and make sure the tire sensor is working. It's a horrible place and experience, be aware of this shop!!! read more

The day before, I called to ask if I had to make an appointment to get my oil pan changed. No appointment needed, just come before 12 because in the afternoon it gets busy. I got here, they took my keys right away and TWO HOURS PAST until my car was actually looked at. On top of that, they said it'd take another 1.5 hours for my car to be fixed WHEN the part arrived. They also don't use authentic parts from the dealerships. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because 1. They had nice chairs and Wi-Fi for people to use. and 2. One of the guys, Eric, was extremely nice. Waste of my time. Ended up just going to my regular mechanic and got it fixed right away. I really wanted to like this place. read more

I brought my car here last week after installing some aftermarket suspension parts and new wheels. I needed a performance alignment (you give them specific alignment numbers instead of them just getting your alignment within a range provided by your car's manufacturer), corner balancing, and ride height adjustment. I called around to some friends to see who locally could do this work and I was referred to Mac at Mstar. I called Mstar and told them what I needed done and they told me they could do everything I asked. I brought my car down there and the guys at the front reassured me that they had the knowledge, equipment, and experience to complete the work. We agreed to an estimate and they took the car around back. This is when things started to go downhill. Once they had my car in back a tech came up front to tell me that they actually don't do corner balancing. I told him the guys up front said that they did and he replied (their own lead tech) that the guys at the front desk are all yes-men and don't know anything about cars. I said skip the corner balancing and continue the work. After waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours somebody finally came out to tell me that my car wouldn't be ready until the next day. I wait until late afternoon the next day and when I don't hear from them I give them a call. The guy who answers tells me that my car has been ready for a while, just no one bothered to call me. When I get there we go over the alignment numbers and they are WAY off the numbers they told me they could achieve, and the numbers weren't even equal left to right. Now this is understandable for a standard alignment, but this isn't what they told me they could deliver. They promised a precise alignment. Turns out they don't have the equipment or personnel for such a job. Then I measure my ride height and it is off by over 1/4" left to right. Instead of getting into what I know was a losing argument with these guys I decided to pay my bill and leave ready to give them a 3 star review. Too bad for me, things got worse. Five days later (today) I was installing wheel locks and noticed that every single lug hole on every single wheel had paint stripped out of it, and two bolts in my suspension were completely loose. When I took my car to Mstar these wheels were brand new with less than 5 miles on them. Turns out their tech has used the wrong socket to remove the lug nuts. I went in to complain and spoke with Mac. He told me flat out that because it had been five days I couldn't prove that his employees had caused the damage. He knew damn well that they had (his tech admitted as much to my face), but all he cared about was whether or not I could prove it. No integrity at this shop. tl;dr If you know nothing about cars, and are happy as long as your car isn't falling apart or making obnoxious noises you'll probably be happy here. The seats in the waiting room are soft. But if you love your car and everything about it, and you expect to the person working on your car to be honest and to treat your car with the same respect they would give their own car, don't come here. read more

I came to MStar for my 150,000 miles maint. I spent $260, it seems like a good deal but actually I ALMOST DIE AFTERWARDS!!!! According to the invoice, the description was Motor Oil, Oil Drain, Oil Filter, Transmission and Brake Fluid........ Two days later, I was driving on the freeway to work, suddenly my dash screen pop out ABS and VSC (stability control) malfunction. I hardly stop my car and I had to slam on my break in order to stop, almost got in a collision. Thus, I drove back to M-Star and asked Eric (super nice guy) and Mac (BIG FAT LIAR). Mac told me my Toyota Camry Hybrid had lots of problem after a high mileage. He told me to change a accumulator which was $1,200!!!!! That is half of my salary!!!! I asked one of my buddy ( a car freak) he told me its impossible.... So my bud sent me to his trust-able mechanic. The mechanic opened the hood and laugh, and said my BREAK FLUID IS EMPTY!!!!!!! M-Star was once a honest, no nonsense repair shop. Now? Not so much. Perhaps it's the pressure of the expansion, and the need to cover new expenses... They're no longer what they used to be. Brought my Altima in for 90k maintenance, during check out the other guy who runs the front with Mac tells me that my front bearing hub assembly needs to be replaced (both of them) and it'd set me back $750. Consulted 2 other shops, Google, etc. My car wasn't making the usual noises that'd indicate the "hub" problem. What I needed was new breaks. read more

The amazing part is that he will give you most diagnostics for free and print out a few quotes from nearby shops! In some cases, he ended up giving me some cheaper places, and gives me the why / why I shouldn't go to location x y and z. Nice people, but I don't think their service is of high quality for cars that are not BMW or MB. After a crash everything was replaced perfectly, BUT my interior panels were all scratched up and marked with sharpie. AND they spilled soda in my car, didn't clean all of it up, AND left a receipt of where they last ate by using MY car. During my crash the airbags were activated and to get rid of the airbag light they needed to tamper with the ECU. I don't know what the heck they did but my electronically controlled power steering became extremely stiff, Approx. double oem power steering ratio. Now I need to go to a legit dealer to get it reset properly. They replaced some of my brakes as well, and my brake pedal became extremely mushy. It used to be extremely direct. Other than that, every other problem is what you'd expect from a minor crash (ie. tire sounds, weird noises). DON'T come here if your car is not a BMW or Mercedes Benz. I wouldn't trust them with sports cars either, unless for simple jobs. read more
