My go-to mechanic! My family has been bringing their cars to Puente Hills Auto for years - ever since Denny was the main mechanic working the shop! I remember going there as a kid and my parents being friends with Denny. So naturally as an adult now with my own vehicles I am now bringing them to Puente Hills Auto. Things have slightly changed and Denny is now retired with Eduardo taking his place but I still trust them all the same. As long as I've had a car I've brought it to Eduardo whenever I've run into issues and he's always been able to fix it pretty quickly. The main thing I like about the auto shop is that I can trust Eduardo to be honest with me and not try to upsell or overcharge for things that don't really need to be done. He's always let me know exactly what's wrong and doesn't try to add in extra "problems" like other mechanics have tried to do in the past. His prices are always fair too. Granted, I know it's not original stock but I know he wouldn't put cheap or faulty parts in my car. I usually call ahead of time to let Eduardo know I'm bringing my car in so he's able to work it into whatever his current schedule is with other cars he's servicing. Usually oil changes take no longer than an hour but other car issues could take a few hours but good thing is there's a Carl's Jr. right next door if you want to grab a small snack and wait there. Or there's plenty of shopping strip malls to walk around while you wait! My family have been customers of Puente Hills Auto for over 20+ years and we are still more than satisfied with the service we receive and are appreciative of Eduardo being as helpful and honest as he has been over the years. After departed from my favorite auto repair shop, I was in need for a new place for oil change. Found Ed here and took a risk. Oh silly me, there was no risk. Ed was like a teddy bear, took my car in and out of the shop within 35 min. So I returned again when it was my due time. Walked in, Ed was working on some car and cars everywhere. I asked him if he had time for oil change and he thought for 2 sec and told me it was fine. I dropped my key with him and quoted for an hour. I walked off for some food and got back within 40 min. Was here to service my car everything was nice at first . Change 2 tires break pedals and oil . I resumed to ask the manager about the pricing since I was a little confused on it. We had an urgent car situation (ran over a shredded tire on the freeway, couldn't avoid it...) and we don't live in the area, looked up closest auto shop near where we were and so glad we came here! Our front bumper was messed up and there are weird sounds coming from beneath the car. But in under 20min they zip tied the front bumper and fixed some bent pipes and we were good to go! It's expensive to fix a water pump, it cost me over $900. My friend who is auto technician said he can fix with $700. It took two months before he can sent me the receipt after I requested again for my car other issue. I showed the receipt to other technician, he asked if I fixed that from a dealer. My understanding is, that is too expensive....my parts cost $400, labor $460. According to CostHelper, water pump replacement averages $300 to $750, depending on the make and model and labor costs. The water pump itself may only cost $50 to $100, but labor can run between $200 and $450, depending on the difficulty level of reaching the pump. read more

Ended up needing to get my front brake pads replaced so I left my car there until i could get it back after work, which was possible because their closing hours are around 7:30 or so, I believe. I was hesitant on driving down to my old mechanics, so I yelped and searched for a new auto service. Wonder's of wonders, I found this place. My dad has been taking his cars here for decades, way back when Danny and his partner Ed both ran the operation. Over the past couple years, our mix of Toyotas, Nissans, and Hondas increasingly became basket cases. Every visit would be one failed component followed by another or some other bit needing repair. We always chalked it up to the high mileage and age of the cars, but for whatever reason we just couldn't sort out these cars no matter how many times they visited Ed's place. It was frustrating and something never felt right, but we stuck with this shop because my dad and Danny/Ed go way back. The last straw was when they replaced the radiator fan on one of the cars and the next day it overheated! We approached the shop about the possibility that their work on the radiator led to the overheat and they denied any responsibility. However, they did offer to help us find a new engine for cheap. We took it to another shop for a second opinion they said we need a new engine or about $4k of work, mechanically totaling the car. We will probably never know what caused the overheat, but we do know that we wont be taking our cars here again just based on the experience alone. read more

What else can I say? My family and friends have been here with Eduardo for decades. We are very comfortable here. It is extremely hard to find an auto shop that is skillful and trustworthy. With Eduardo, we never have to worry about being over charged or making unnecessary repairs. If things can still work and we can get by safely, he will tell us to hold on the repair. Today, I have a flat tire, which was purchased at Costco, so it was obvious to go to Costco for the covered flat repair. However, when I got there, they told me that I have to wait 2.5 hours. Ok, I understand Costco is busy, but what threw me off was the attitude of the tire specialist that helped me, he treated me like I am an ignorant, uneducated person that doesn't know anything about cars. So, I did my refund with Costco, and turned around to Eduardo's. He saw me from afar, and welcomed me with a warm "I see that you have a flat." What a different atmosphere!! Fantastic job! I had been looking for a new auto service as the manager of a Midas I used to go to was really rude to me one day and left a bad taste in my mouth. I called at around 11:30am to ask if I could come in around 12:15 during my lunch for a synthetic oil change on my Toyota Prius and they said no problem and they would have it done in about 30 minutes. My car was hit previously leaving the door only able to open a quarter of the way, so I apologized for the inconvenience and the guy said it would be no problem - he even fixed the door for me free of charge once he changed my oil and filled my tires! Eduardo even recommended a shop he trusted to help me with repairs to my damaged Prius. While driving around I noticed my car temperature gauge shot up to the max hot level and I immediately pulled over. I checked my fluid levels and surely enough it was low. So I went out and bought some coolant to top it off. However, the temperature was still overheating. I decided to drive down the street to the pep boys and seek advice. The workers ended up telling me the issue could be the coolant levels or something more serious. Not wanting to take any risk, I yelped the closest auto shop and ended up finding this place a mile away. The shop was not very visible, as it was located behind to the side of Carl's jr. When I got there, I explained to Eduardo the issue and he looked under my hood. Apparently my radiator hose was leaking and it actually began to smoke a little. He gave me an estimate $60-70 and how long it would take. In the end, my car was running normally as it should and I was able to drive home with a peace of mind. read more
