Now that it's Monday, I decided to head into Guru to grab an a fritter of the day. New week new flavor of fritter. The gentleman that helped me today was super nice! I asked him what the fruit flavor of the fritter was and I was told it's cherry again. I told him that I wanted to grab the fritter on Saturday till I found out it was cherry as well. That's when I was told it's more like flavor of the month vs. week. I'm determined to grab a fritter that my husband will like so we will just have to wait till August. We have tried fritters from every shop imaginable so I'm determined to try one from here. But today I grabbed another Hipsterberry, a seasalt chocolate glazed bar and a cereal of the day. I didn't get a chance to eat the Hipsterberry on Saturday so I will have some today! You can't go wrong with a classic chocolate bar with seasalt and a cinnamon toast crunch topped donut. All 3 donuts were killer good today! Fresh, soft and so flavorful! It's hard not to get one of every donut from this joint. They all look so good! My husband and I got to start our week off with some great treats from Guru. Looking forward to coming back and trying a different round of donuts. I might have started a new bad habit for my husband and I.

Decent place in downtown Boise. Love the vibe!…read more I don't really eat doughnuts very often, but when I do, it's almost always an Old-fashioned doughnut. This is what I use as a comparison to other doughnuts. It's my baseline. This one was good, but not at the top. The outer crust was good, and the icing was the perfect amount of sweetness. The interior was just right. We also grabbed a cup of doughnut holes, which is where we struggled. They were overly sweet and fairly dry on the inside. We ended up throwing the rest out, unfortunately. My other baseline is an Apple Fritter, so if I give them a second chance, that will be my next choice!

Honestly, at that moment in time, I wasn't even excited for the fritters after having such a dry donut the day before. I asked for 1 fritter to be in a box and the other 3 to be in another. The gal that helped me the day before opened the window, didn't greet me, stared at me which was an awkward interaction. I told her I was there to pick up my fritters and her response was "I know". Yes, you know but I didn't know if you remembered..... A sweet gal popped up with my boxes. Explained to me which box was what and sent me on my way. I got my goods and made my way home. When I was picking up the boxes, I noticed the warmth of the box and the weight. I can tell these were going to be heavy weight fritters. Opening the box, this baby was huge! Perfectly glazed from top to bottom. My husband took his first bite. He was very happy with the fritter. I took a chunk and was very delighted at how sweet, crunchy and delicious this fritter was. The middle was soft and airy. The exterior of the fritter was crispy and crunchy even though there was a glaze over it. The cinnamon and apple chunks were in every bite. It was a fantastic apple fritter! My husband was greedy and ate a majority of it. I'm happy I got a nice chunk of it to try out. The donut and fritter was night and day. I'm happy that I got to experience the hype of the apple fritter that everyone had raved about! Believe the hype! The apple fritters here were money. If I could do half stars, this visit would have been 4.5 but it's going to be a 4. My first initial interaction with the first gal wasn't the best. You deal with a ton of different people everyday, how was I to know you knew what I was there for if you don't say anything to me? A simple "we are grabbing your fritters" would have been cool but I got stared at. I'm assuming the gal that gave me my order was the person in charge. Professional, sweet and great line of communication. I don't know when I'll be back for another round of goodies but if someone asks where they could get some fabulous fritters, I'll be suggesting this joint for sure.

A treat when she had a good session. My son and I finished having brunch down the road. We were both bummed that my husband couldn't join see we decided to get him a sweet treat. The way to make everything better for my husband is a good apple fritter. Apple fritters make everything better. The size of these donuts are the first thing you see. I don't remember these donuts being so big! There were some round ones the size of a salad plate. It honestly would be fun to have this huge donut for a first birthday photo. Shoot, I would love to have this huge donut for my birthday! I couldn't get over the fact at how glorious these donuts looked. They were all delicious looking! There were plenty of huge apple fritters! No need to ever be concerned about this joint running out. There was 3 big trays worth. Maybe this joint is known for their apple fritters. Plenty of stock on hand. The sweet girl behind the counter grabbed the five that I asked for and got them all packaged up. One for my husband. And of course some for my boys and in laws. Country Donuts did not mess around with these apple fritters. They were perfectly fried on the outside, golden and crispy. So soft in the middle. A hint of cinnamon to make it warm. Chunks of apple throughout the fritter. This pastry did not lack on the glaze, every inch of that baby was covered. Everything about that fritter was fabulous! I guess it's good that this shop is clear across town from where I live. I would become a diabetic if I lived closer. We do have a couple local bakeries by us but they aren't pushing fritters out like this. It was cool coming in and grabbing a sweet treat for my husband. Even though it is an older shop, don't let the hole in the wall look deter you from coming. Shops like this usually push out the best products. It was worth stopping in for that apple fritter today.

And it's one of the donut shops that's so popular, they only make a limited daily batch. When that's sold out, they won't make more. So you have to get there early. Choosing from the few donuts that were left upon our arrival, we enjoyed the quality and creativity of the product at Sweet Sensations. The cream cheese donut was excellent. This isn't a place that will rival the best donuts in the U.S., but it's certainly an enjoyable and worthy morning stop. The interior is a little too modest and not updated at all. But don't let that scare you away.

I love all the pastels and flowers everywhere. There's a beautiful display of all their donut options. We were instantly greeted by sweet lady. She guided us through the menu. The menu has quite a few options but it's rather small compared to other boba spots. We were given a free chocolate glazed donut while we were waiting for our drinks to be made. I thought it was really nice of the owner to give us a free treat! The donut was really soft and airy! It was on the dryer side but it was still a decent donut. I ordered the peach and mango clear tea today. It was pretty in color. You can taste the peach and mango in my drink. It's not as sweet as I'm used to but it was still good. There's a light amount of jellies on the bottom. I'm personally used to a bit more jellies in my drink but as a collective it was still tasty. I'm happy I ran into this cute venue. On the morning we stopped in there weren't a lot of choices and judging by the size of the cases on the counter that's typical. I give major props to that little glazed croissant- it was delicious but I also appreciate that it wasn't huge. I felt satisfied but not sickly full afterward. I tried the buttermilk later in the day and it wasn't okay, the frosted donut for a similar review from my daughter- like, solid food donuts but nothing we couldn't find at the local grocery store bakery. Worth the stop if you're in the immediate area, not a destination spot though.

Headed to gym event, but needed doughnuts haha! Did they have them? Nnnnnnope! Made me very sad. This place sells their cookies in WinCo and I think Whole Foods. Their cookies are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I could easily eat a bag of 8 in probably half a day lol. Then I'd get all depressed because my bikini wouldn't fit right :( So when I asked about the doughnuts she said they haven't been making them and I think she said it was because of staffing issues. Thanks to the virus and people now refusing to work because the government is giving them too much in unemployment, this is the case with way too many restaurants, bakeries, etc. That's my subtle jab at the current government and what they're doing to the country lol! So I left without doughnuts BUUUUT I did buy a bag of cookies. The same bag I could have bought at WinCo or Whole Foods. She said basically everything they did that morning was make the cookies for the stores and she watched them leave to take them to the stores. Exciting! I felt all guilty as soon as I bit into one of the cookies but OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD! Have y'all ever been to a crumbl? If you have one where you live GOOOOO! This places cookies are basically they lower calorie version of Crumbl because some Crumbl cookies have 850 calories in ONE cookie hahahaha! Is it worth it tho? Absolutely lol So are these cookies, but if you are trying to watch your calorie intake then maybe stay away because you can tear through a bag of these with ease. Chocolate crinkle and snickerdoodles are my go-to's! Ooooooh! Ok, y'all, WTF is with the twist ties you used to tie up the bags of cookies? STOP using those! They are literally THE WORST! I'm sure they're cost effective but stop! I'm also sure with selling to those two major grocery stores plus selling them in your bakery that you can absolutely afford to use better ties, ones that we can actually open and reuse vs these where you can't just open them, you have to cut the top of the bag and then basically...the bag is useless after that. I know this sounds petty, but ugh they're they worst! Aside from that, this place is super nice. It's in a very weird location tho, I was surprised by that. It's like the only sit down place on this street. Across from them is a warehouse of some sort, half a block up are homes, it's just seems like it would be better on the north end, or NW Boise, basically anywhere other than where it is lol. The staff is super sweet, the ones that were there lol. I'll definitely be going back. Glad my first experience there was a decent one even if they didn't have doughnuts for my heffa ass hahahaha! Thanks for reading, Yelpiiteees! Cheers!
