Difference in mini vs. regular kahlua pork=1 scoop of white rice for $3.00. Tricky. At $10 the "regular" kahlua pork is no deal. Get a carnitas bowl at Chipotle for $7. this place gives the wrost customer service i had ever experience in my life!!!! last week one of the oprder i had, the meat was not fully cooked. i tried going there for a refund but the owner would not give it to me because i had already ate some of the food. i told him i wouldn't of brought it back if the meat was not raw so it's not my fault. long story short the owner of the place started yelling and started saying the f*** word. i feel that if you are in a customer service business you can't penny count but that's ok he won't be seeing my money or any of my coworkers or employee's money.wei used to order from this place a couple times a month but i guess that $10.00 was worth more then a few hundreds to him!! i will never ever return to this place again!!! read more

Terrible terrible service food disgusting yuk and the atmosphere was so uncomfortable and dirty

I walked in on Friday around 1ish and I was very hungry because of the hassle of going to class , work and so much . So I start walking looking for some good food . I walk in (wiki wiki) it wasn't so clean thank God I didn't have to use the bathroom... so I was thinking it's (Ono's) and order me a chicken katsu... What i didn't like was the lady tone and the house way she spoke made me feeling like my business wasn't appreciated. First she assume I want take out yet she doesn't realize I'm starving then I told no I want it here, she looked disappointed.so i simply ask her if the Arizona is 99 cent? She says no it's 1.70 ? I tell but it says 99cents then she rudely tells me I can buy some where else and she also tells me to go talk to the boss and pointed at him( he didn't say word), as if I wanted some trouble... So I was thirsty and didn't care and bout the arizona pricing and bought it, waited 15 min for katsu and it's not like Ono's! Katsu was way too crispy , rice had to much starch and macorni was alright but no great taste sause was ok* but I've have never written review before in my whole life on a restaurant til today and That's how mad I was on the way she spoke to me , my best advice to the owner is to invest in younger employees that are more friendly, nice, and have better communication skills in the cashier position . The food can get better . And the place could be more cleanier. read more

This place is pretty mediocre. The food is kind of bland, but at least it is really cheap. It's also one of the few places that gives you a plastic takeout container if you are eating in... That can't be good for the environment. I can't really recommend this restaurant. read more

I was told that I ordered the wrong food here from a friend, but honestly speaking, if I were to walk into a restaurant and ordered randomly, the food should still be good. So I'm not buying that. I ordered the Fresh Pork Lau Lau because I thought it sounded really good, although I guess I should be wary to begin with if a restaurant uses "fresh" in the name of a dish (it always makes me think, "well...are the other pork dishes not fresh?"). I unwrapped by banana leaf and kept on unwrapping it...I thought that I was getting a really substantial portion but what ended up being edible was probably 1/4th of the size of the entire portion. What was inside was really disgusting...the butter fish...I honestly couldn't tell if it was fish or just globs of fat. The pork was flavorful and tasty, but it was so disgustingly greasy that I suppose having a bigger portion would have been just as bad too. Well...at least the big plate comes with macaroni salad and rice so I won't be left completely full. But the macaroni salad did not taste fresh. I did end up eventually getting quite sick from the food and I honestly expected a lot better because I heard great things about this restaurant. I'm willing to go back to try more of their other food, but I shouldn't have to know what to order in order to get passably edible food. read more

Really cheap. Not that bad, not that great. Good place to stop for something quick and good. I get a craving for lunch like once a month. The bbq chicken is really good. Id recommend that. They are actually very accomodating and are willing to substitute for anything, really cool. Close to my place to. So that is nice as well. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could-this place made me wish I'd stayed home! A beggar woman at the restaurant kept hassling me for money and wouldn't leave me alone when I said no. She was really persistent, telling me her entire sob story about needing to feed her grandson, which was obviously false due to the two hamburgers in her hand and her not-too-shabby clothing. When I asked the owner for more information, she matter-of-factly explained that the beggar woman is always there and she bothers customers constantly. I find it unacceptable that the staff have not intervened and that they allow her to haunt the place and bother their supporting customers! If I wasn't so hungry, I would have left then, but unfortunately I stayed to order very bland, low-quality chicken katsu with a puddle of vinegar and overcooked rice. Huge portions, cheap, tasty. I always order their mini chicken katsu (I have my coworkers hooked on the place now!) A regular order of katsu can feed two people for lunch. I steer clear of the macaroni salad that comes with an order of katsu (not a big fan). I always ask for two portions of rice instead. I've also ordered the katsu on their catering menu - I got 2 medium platters. It definitely fed more than 20 people and I still had a lot over! read more

Went there once and got the teriyaki pork chop. It was just a super bland hunk of pork. Pretty cheap though.

I spent 4 years in Berkeley, and I can gladly say I was a regular here. My rating is for the orders I usually get, which are for the chicken katsu or deep fried mahi mahi (comes with rice and macaroni salad). In terms of price, the portions are very generous, and can easily double as another meal. Flavor wise, I think it's one of the best things one can eat for $7-8. The fried meats and seafood taste crisp and fresh, and though I am not usually a fan of macaroni salad, I will eat it all. For the fastest service, I recommend just calling ahead -- food takes about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare and will be ready when you walk/bus there. read more

The food is bad. The service is worse. I ordered a lemon chicken and it tasted so bad that I asked for my money back. The entire staff argued with me that they would not do this.
