*NOTE: This review is for a specific groomer, Lexie, and the other friendly staff at the salon*…read more I have taken my pup to several pet grooming business in the Austin area for several years, never quite satisfied with what I get for the cost. It's to the point where I have just started grooming her myself and only going in for nail trims (still scared to do those myself!), which are usually still unsatisfying jobs for the whopping $15-20 they charge (ex: leaving cracks down to the nail bed, snags at the ends, and often drawing blood). However, I took my dog in recently for a simple nail trim and was talked into their current special of a grind, ear, and teeth cleaning for only an extra $2 by a super friendly salon staff member (Why not? It's only $2!). I have to say that I have never seen anyone handle my typically anxious dog so gently and still managed to trim her nails to the perfect length (short enough I don't have to come back within a few weeks), grind them to a pleasant rounded tip with NO snags or cracks, a good ear cleaning and teeth brushing, and at the end of it all: my dog not shaking like a maniac when she is returned to me. And all in a quick 5 minute walk-in appointment. Very satisfied and happy to write a positive review for a chain business that I would usually avoid.

Today, 06/16/2026, I had my Lab and English Springer Spaniel in the grooming salon for a bath and…read morehaircut. The Spaniel came back with issues but I accepted it. The Lab however, I could not accept because of the poor haircut. There were streaks down here back where the clippers did not overlap leaving slightly hair creating the streaks. The back of her head and neck area was irregularly cut. Her chest area irregularly cut. The young lady that brought out the Lab and the slightly older lady told me it was because of the coat on labs. Also, my lab kept wanting to sit down. The older lady did tell me that I did not need to bring my lab back again. The previous time rendered similar issues. What is frustrating about this, is that I have used the Gtown store for probably 7 years. I know they can do better work because they have in the past. Beware of the quality of service at this store because they will probably give you a story if you complain.

So far so good in the process. JC is busy tending to the birds so he clearly states he does not…read moretext. He has picked up most of our calls and when he can't, he calls us back the same day. He takes the time to answer all the questions and although he was delayed in sending us photos, I understand the time and manpower it takes, and that takes away from the care of the birds. Communication obviously has made it clear that he has the bird in his best interest. He is working with us and our situation and is taking the best care of our baby until we can fly him home. We are waiting for her to be fully weaned and he is letting the baby decide when that is. I am relieved he is not rushing this baby out the door and out his care to free up more time for making money. We are excited to love our blue headed macaw!!! will update.

Breeder ethics concerns:…read more Obtained a female yellow crossover quaker parrot from JC Aviary Feb 5, 2026. Hatched August 2025. As of February 13: Defensive against fingers & hands. Shaking when picked up & heart racing. Grabs cage bars to avoid being picked up. Reluctantly accepts a few head scratches. Mostly leaving her alone except for "nice baby talk." She acts like she was forced throughout her young life. No free choice ever, based on her behavior with me. What did they do with her both before she was weaned & after? Looks to me like they didn't socialize her at all and instead spent their time making TikTok videos for a subsequent sale. No proper nor adequate handling and loving. No teaching of the birds that the human touch shouldn't be feared. In my view and observation, this breeder simply did not work to ensure that this bird, and probably the birds in that clutch, were actually going to Enjoy being around people. My new bird was not a properly hand raised quaker baby. Now I agree, she could be worse, but still a properly hand raised Quaker baby shouldn't basically be afraid to be touched and be shaking when picked up, nor immediately defensive of all fingers and hands when gently reached out to in their cages. I compare and contrast to my own experience with quakers & other people's new quakers also. Expected better from modern breeders. In my view: Inadequate socialization. Insufficient individual attention. Emotional underdevelopment. Also she arrived with a closed leg band - inherently risky. Paid $100 to a vet to have it removed this past weekend. Band had "JCA" on it & a number. No one, near me will know what that means. Poor communication: Ignores most SMS queries. Voice phone calls rushed and dismissive. Pushed a $285 nebulous "starter kit" and required a $40 carrier fee, for a huge bulky heavy handmade wooden carrier. Received a not properly socialized bird. In my view: This breeder is Strange. Stuck on himself. Not, ensurung the birds he raises & sells, as pets, Actually Enjoy the Human Touch. And frankly the man is hurting American aviculture. Slipshod know it all know nothing pompous treatment of his birds and of his customers too. I received a bird apparently Forced to do this with that, from day one. Check the bad reviews here. Quote from one: "I have a very sweet friend that was told that she was getting a hand fed conure and when they picked up their baby it was not a friendly bird. This couple has had beautiful conures for 30 years & never have they bought a hand fed bird that bites & where it draws blood. They even let it out of the cage everyday & they spend all day with it & they've tried cuddling with it & it would just bite them. I have seen this bird & tried to handle it myself & it tried to bite me. I have hand raised birds for many years for a local pet shop and they were always lovable & they never would bite me or anyone. JC Aviary charged them $800 for this bird & they are very unhappy & they should get their money back!!" --end of quote I do know what well adjusted properly raised quakers act like, yes with all the wonderful boldness of quaker parrots. Maybe Sweetie Pie will warm up, but still...
