Very disappointing! I had family in town from out of state for my birthday and we booked on Open Table awhile back, which we've always used for Wild Ginger and it was still listed on Yelp. We booked dinner on my actual birthday (landing on a Saturday). The day before I got a text confirming if we'd be there. We show up and the guy tells us they no longer use Open Table so my reservations were cancelled. Happy birthday to me! So now on a Saturday night, all ready for dinner we are headed back home. Very impressed on first visit. First some cold starters - shared a few nigiri and the jalapeno hamachi. The fish was fresh, nicely plated, and the pickled ginger with the sushi was clearly made in house and was quite nice. The hamachi combined fish and fresh crunchy veg in each bite sized piece, and I loved the slices of jalapeno atop each one. Wish there has been more flavor in the dipping sauce it came with, but it was still a plate I'd order again. Wife loved the wild side cocktail, and I was quite happy that although the draft beer list was short, it included sapporo and gerst amber, both excellent choices. I was a little skeptical of the pita chips with edamame hummus, but it was on the wife's short list and the wait person recommended. It was delightful, the pita was fresh and the pieces grilled warm, and the hummus was very flavorful. The gyoza I'd order at every visit, but I'm a sucker for pretty much any dumpling. The yum yum roils were a fun take on an egg roll. Good crunch and interesting mix of shrimp and veg, Good, I'd have liked more of the chili sauce with it. We're still in Franklin restaurant discovery mode, but Wild Ginger definitely holds a spot for us in rotation. read more

Celebrating your birthday in quarantine is a bit of a drag, but having Wild Ginger helped! It was a bit of a bummer their online reservations were still booking even though they were open for dining. Dynamite shrimp (our favorite), fantasy roll, atun atun roll, and the Havana Roll. Everything was delicious! Very fresh and flavor packed. The fries were the least favorite, but not horrible. We've been a regular customer at Wild Ginger for 20+years celebrating birthdays and other family occasions.This evening we had a table for 4 adults and 2 kids and noticed a 30% gratuity built in to the bill for a large party. Since when does 1 table constitute a large party? Frankly, it seemed kind of slippery especially when they added in a per person surcharge for the birthday cake we bought. I came here for lunch solo and I found it a bit hoity-toity. For a land locked state (no ocean around) I was a bit suspicious if this could be a good place or not. Now granted I have lived in Hawaii and California so my sushi expectations are a bit different than most of your southern. These guys have a strange spin on things. Everything either has some foo foo sauce or name to it that doesn't make sense. Such as "Ebi"... really? It's shrimp just say shrimp. The portions are good and the service is VERY quick for a lunch stop. Also, notice nothing on the menu says "sushi" it's all called Maki or something strange. Plenty of parking by the restaurant. All of the staff were wearing a mask, but for guests it was not mandatory. We were seated fairly quickly despite having a large party. We did order two sushi, but I didn't sample the dish, but it seemed to be well liked since it was all gone! Tokyo Gyoza: it was delicious! Very flavor without having to dip in the sauce. Merlion Chicken Rice: the chicken and the rice were so flavored!!! Chicken was nice and tender, but the salad was meh. Mee Goreng: it was a bit too sweet for our liking. Would have to be our least favorite from the order. Miso Sea Bass: the sea bass tasted amazing for the first few bites, but then the flavor profile is just a bit light. The tempura vegetables were pretty standard. Although usually it's more sweet potatoes rather than carrots...but it wasn't bad. The pizza from the kids menu is a no go...super sour. My little one only took a bite and he munched on our dishes. I should have order the fries for him as a side, but usually he likes veggies...just not these type of veggies. Steamed and cut into such slices isn't very "kids friendly dish". Overall it was a nice dining experience and the restaurant itself is beautiful as well! read more

This is a hidden gem in Franklin! The crab rangoons and dynamite shrimp were the perfect starters. So much crab meat! I had the crazy cow roll and my husband had the honey chicken. Both so delicious and flavorful. Pineapple and filet in sushi?! Sign me up! We ended with a slice of key lime pie that is made daily in house. I always enjoy Wild Ginger whenever I go. The service & food are always on point. They have a really nice patio area, so I prefer sitting out there whenever the weather is nice. The food is always super fresh and if you're, a water snob (like I am) I love their water. It is so crisp tasting. I tend to compliment them on their water filter when I'm there. This visit I enjoyed one of their wok dishes, which is one of my favorites. I got the Wild Ginger fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The blend of the flavors is nicely prepared. It is not too much or too little. Just right! Arrived 15min early for 545p reservation. There was a bit of a crowd, so noise level was a bit elevated. After about a 10min wait we were seated. Waiter greeted us promptly and asked for our drink order. We needed time to view the drink menu, so he gave us what seemed to be 2.2 sec to look it over. The Sake he suggested was great, the mix drink wasn't good. I sub'd it out for their version of an old fashion which was much better. The Food: The lobster bisque was so good we ate the bread bowl it was served in. [Probably frowned upon in this establishment, lol] For the main course we shared 3 signature rolls; The Shakura- large (3 bite) roll that was just ok, not as flavorful as the others. The Crazy Cow was the favorite by far. I no longer eat red meat but after picking off the steak, I couldn't stop eating this roll. I was told it was even better with the steak. The Lobster Lobster roll was also a good choice. With both tempura & spicy lobster it was flavorful & well presented. For Dessert we had Chocolate Martini & Chocolate cake, both were exceptional Overall it was a great meal with very attentive service. Do yourself a favor don't bother going to any other restaurant for sushi. While we've watched many of our favorite restaurants raise prices and decline in quality since Covid, Wild Ginger has gotten even better with fair pricing. Stopped her for dinner after dropping my car off as every time we one to the dealership we say that we need to try this place.
