This was my worst sushi experience ever. I ordered three rolls, two of which I eat regularly when I dine out for sushi. My first role was a new one for me. I ordered the white tuna jalapeno roll. Unfortunately, it was more jalapeno than white tuna. The second role was a spicy scallop roll. They added Panko breadcrumbs to their spicy scallops which were very soggy and had an off flavor. The scallops had a very poor texture as well. My last roll was an eel avocado roll with cream cheese. This is listed on their menu has an eel avocado roll but I asked them to add the cream cheese. They did so without any question, but then charged me an extra dollar for the effort. Normally this would not be a big deal, however on my very last bite I bit into something hard. When I showed it to the sushi chef he told me it must be a bone. I don't know about anyone else, but I like my sushi to be bone free. I wish I could say anything nice about this restaurant however the service was even poor. I will not be returning to this restaurant anytime soon. read more

I gave this place 4 stars a few years ago and continued to go since the sushi is very good (30% off on Wednesdays) but only 4 instead of 5 because of the service. Most times the main food would come out before sushi. Visiting again tonight was a totally different experience! Fast service, new sushi presentations, very attentive, everything tasted great. Good sushi, but that's where it ends. We have tried a few different things from them and overall, it's just not as good as some of the others in the area. That said, their sushi is very good albeit a touch overpriced. This is my daughter's favorite place for sushi so we order from here often. They use decent-sized chunks of fish and they offer a spicy kani roll which is both very good and virtually unheard of at any other sushi joints. There's a place in Towson, MD that offers a crab roll similar to it and up until now, we hadn't been able to find anything comparable anywhere else. read more

This place has great sushi and great Asian food. Usually when you go to a place you either great good food or good sushi, but not both at the same place. And a bonus with this is that is has nice decor and good service. WG has many choices from sushi, Thai, Chinese, to Japanese. One thing I love about this place is the presentation. Every dish is presented in a different way to please even the most hard to please foodie. There's just no where to start in what to say about WG except to say that I always find excuses to come here. We came here based on the positive reviews. We ordered the crispy duck confit roll, sakeage maki, ichiban roll and the jerry roll. This was some of the worst sushi I've had. The batter on the sakeage sushi was greasy and unappetizing, the duck confit roll tasted like bad tuna. The shrimp fired rice and chicken fried rice we ordered was just ok, not very flavorful. The food itself tastes good but my biggest complaint are that the nigiri orders are by the piece and pretty tiny portions. The nigiri was about the size of a teenager's pinky finger. I also think the spicy tuna roll is just a bunch of crunchies with a little tuna in it? Overall I gave them 4 stars in case this was just a blip or because of financial cutbacks for CV. Dining here inspired me to make a Yelp account! The location of Wild Ginger leaves some to be desired. I really wish that they were in a busier, nicer area so they could get the larger dinner crowds they deserve. Once as you enter, it's as if you can forget the strip mall you just pulled in to entirely. The restaurant has a lovely, calm atmosphere with wood accents and subtle wall art. Our waiter was accommodating and kind - I'd imagine some people dislike it when you have more than one waiter trying to take your order as they see it as disorganized, but I thought it was nice how more than one person wanted to make sure we were served drinks promptly. The drinks (for a party of three) arrived quickly and were satisfactory. They were also very attentive when it came to refills. I ordered the double dawn sushi roll, which featured crunchy salmon/tuna topped with raw salmon and tuna. It was plated beautifully alongside wasabi and ginger. I was also provided a dish for (I assume) soy sauce. It was delicious! :) Everything tasted very fresh and bright. My table and I all tasted each others' meals (albeit one who isn't into raw fish) and we all agreed it was fresh and flavorful. I can also recommend the general tso and coconut chicken. We shared a slice of cheesecake (served with either red bean or green tea ice cream - chose green tea for this one) and a dish of red bean. Both were great! The cheesecake was rich yet delicate, and the ice creams were unique and tangy. These were also plated beautifully - I didn't want to mess up the plate! Overall, it was a great experience. We pulled in to the lot expecting Okini II, but were surprised to see a new 'Wild Ginger' sign and the Grand Opening streamer and flags adoring the building. We decided "why not" and stepped in for our lunch. We were greeted and it all smelled so new inside with a nice simple layout and elegant decor. The tile flooring is dark and the lighting is subtle. We noticed the coupons on the menu, but were not offered a discount for our meal. It did not occur to me until later which is why I didn't ask for an explanation. My wife had the bento box lunch special which included california roll and teriyaki shrimp as well as salad and a couple dumplings and rice. I had the lunch sushi roll special which was a choice of about 6 or so different rolls. I chose the boston roll and kani roll w/ a salad. The salad was good and the dressing was substantial and not watery like some I have I had. I enjoyed the freshness of the boston and kani rolls a lot and they were presented nicely. I appreciated the value, but noticed the green tea was 2.oo a cup for a total of $4.00 for both of us and I really only got 8oz -they didn't offer another cup of hot water. This was not a big deal, but accounted for 1/8 of the meal price so I would have liked to know in advance next time. I would return here with one of the coupons for $5.00 or 10% off and thought the sushi was very well made, but if going for dinner it could end up on the pricey side. read more

Quite possibly the worst service I have experienced anywhere this year. There were two waiters and maybe six patrons total. We ordered green curry; basil curry, and a dragon roll. We got our tea and souos. Then our dragon roll sat on the sushi counter for iver 10 minutes until I actually ASKED one of them if that was ours. As if that wasn't bad enough...they bring out the green curry...and pad thai. When I asked the waiter "Is this basil curry?" She actually couldn't tell me. Now you would think....at this point...they would at least attempt to quickly rectify my order and get me the basil curry put asap? Wrong you are!! Took them another 15 minutes. At this point there were two other patrons besides us there. At no point did anyone even say "we are so sorry" or even acted like they cared. I'm shocked that there are so many bad reviews! I usually go here by myself for late lunches. I enjoy that it's usually not busy around this time, and it's nice and quiet. The waitress is always polite and unobtrusive. She's there when I need something, and that's it. I always order a few different sushi rolls, usually one of the chefs special and one off the menu. I have never had a bad experience yet. I leave satisfied every time. I do however feel that the food is better when you sit in the restaurant. Although I still love this place, I miss their old Pan Asian Fusion menu. It was one of the best. Luckily they still have the Tomato Avocado Salad and the Roti Canai, a favorite and still yummy! I will still come here for dinner, but the excitement and anticipation of their old menu is gone. Wild Ginger is now a normal, generic Chinese-American food place with a smattering of unique items. Maybe the York area is not progressive enough to support creative cuisine? If you go, try the Roti Canai. One of my favorite dishes and one of the hold overs from the old menu. Tried Wild Ginger on a suggestion on Black Friday with my wife. Got the special Big Mac roll and the sushi regular. They were accommodating and substituted the crab and shrimp, which I always do. The edamame was really good. The Big Mac roll was my wife's and she enjoyed it. I got the regular combo. The fish was good. The salmon was probably the best. The tuna lacked some flavor. I was not happy with the rice. It was very wet, did not stay together and was flavorless. It continually fell apart when I attempted to pick up the sushi. The yellow chicken curry was quite tasty. The service was average at best. We were charged for a sushi deluxe that we did not order that they had to remove from the bill. They never refilled our water or hot tea. Never even asked. The family wanted to take me out for Father's Day. In the mood for Asian cuisine (specifically sushi) we decided to try Wild Ginger. We were not disappointed. We started with the crispy calamari which was simply done with a tempura batter gently laced with black pepper. For an entree she had Green Curry and the Seared Pepper White Tuna Roll. She raved about how delicious they were. We tried our child's Sweet & Sour Chicken which was a mammoth portion. A colorful blend of veggies and chicken in very good sweet and sour sauce. I opted for a Spicy Tuna Roll and the Crazy Roll. The Spicy Tuna Roll had a hint of sesame to give it a little crunch and was what I expected. The Crazy Roll was a delicious blend of 3 fish with avocado wrapped in a green soy paper with a spicy mayo. Absolutely Phenomenal. Great food and the service was great. I visited Wild Ginger for the first time last Friday. A friend of mine was praising this place and so I decided to try it. I've never been treated so rudely by a waitress before. I asked a question about the menu and she huffed (literally) and was shifting her hips like a teenager with an attitude. I'm reading through these reviews and I'm almost relieved that it wasn't just me. Others are receiving bad service. I was so uncomfortable that I was afraid to ask where the bathroom was located. The waitress continued to give me dirty looks when she came back to our table. I asked a waiter that was with another table to tell me where the bathroom was. I spent $75.00 on 4 drinks ,2 General Two dinner and 3 sushi rolls. I would have rather go to the food court at the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill to eat sushi.
