I'm from the South originally and judge BBQ places accordingly so when you claim to be legit BBQ I'm gonna hold you to that. I'm pretty sure this place used to be an Irish Bar and it still has the dark look and feel of one rather than the BBQ place it purports to be. The hushpuppies were very tasty here and the portion was huge, we were hungry and we couldn't finish them all. That's the good news. The bad news is when you lead off a review of a BBQ place talking about their hushpuppies that usually means everything else is sorely lacking and that's certainly the case here. The pulled pork sandwich was a large portion of heavily sauced pork that tasted like the stuff you buy in a tub at the grocery store. For $7 it was a decent deal for happy hour since I was hungry and it was a lot of mediocre food but certainly not worth the $18.95 they would charge during non-happy hour times. However, the pulled pork sandwich is a prize-winning BBQ masterpiece compared to the purported "Sticky Maple Bacon Baked Beans, Cornbread Crumble." At $7.95 this is a must-skip as it turned out to taste like a decent sized serving of mid-grade store brand baked beans with a few small cornbread croutons thrown on top. There was no maple bacon flavor to be found in this tepid offering and in fact I have a free suggestion to this place, I added a little of your mustard BBQ sauce and it improved the flavor so maybe you can try that as well. Service was very friendly here and the place understandably wasn't very crowded around 5:30 on a weeknight. There are lots of food options in and around AC and the various casinos, this place is okay for happy hour only as long as you stay on the HH menu and know you're getting a mediocre at best meal. Otherwise, if you want to replicate the taste of their BBQ pork sandwich, save your money and grab a tub of pulled pork and a sesame seed bun at the store and enjoy. This place served its purpose since I was hungry but I won't be back and at this rate I don't know that it will be around too much longer. Today I was in ac staying at the hard rock and wanted some bbq style lunch . I figured I'd give this place another try for lunch . One of my favorite YouTubers that covers ac recently posted his experience so that was good enough for me . I came in about 2:30 or so it was pretty slow and I was sat immediately. After my previous review I was messaged by the owner Tom. Traveling so much for business means I eat out A LOT and sometimes my experience's are not that great. My original experience here wasn't necessarily bad. I've definitely experienced far worse. What has stood out to me during those times is a lot of places will try to post a response to save face and look like they care, but really they don't and there's rarely any offer to make things right. Well not here! Tom sent me a message to my inbox and told me to reach out the next time I'm in the area. Two months went by and I happened to be celebrating my birthday in the area and I reached back out to him. I told him when I wanted to come and he made sure I was taken care of! Got the "Big Ass Biscuit" (really, that's the name lol) with Bacon, egg and cheese during my last visit to AC a few days ago. It was very good! The Biscuit was fluffy and so were the eggs. It was rock hard on the bottom and hardly fluffy. We each ordered the beef biscuit sandwich and it was dry and lacking any flavor . Neither one of us finished our dinner. It was very disappointing . Ambiance is so so, very dark and does not appear to be very clean. read more
