What's up: The next destination on our Distillery Row Passport adventure! This time, it brought us towards Wild Roots. Parking: Paid street parking. Environment: The place was empty when we arrived. It has a very open feel to the place with all the large glass walls so you can see the outside. To enter, we had to ring the doorbell where the staff member came and let us in. There's a couch seating area as well as the tasting counter where we sat. We picked a couple of drinks to try out. There's also merch available along the back wall, near the restrooms. What was ordered: - Peppermint Hot Chocolate (spiked peppermint hot chocolate?!...so dangerous but oh so yummy hahaha) - Maple Bourbon (sweet! Just like pancakes) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The hot chocolate was awesome if you like hot chocolate, you can barely taste the alcohol so it can definitely sneak up on you. Credit cards are accepted. read more

We stopped here on a whim and stayed for a while. The seasonal cocktail flight was a group favorite. The room is open, with lots of natural light. Even on a cold and rainy day, this place was bright and energizing. Wild Roots was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend you stop in the next time you're in the neighborhood. read more

My daughter tried the whiskey at the farmers market and was a fan. She sent me out to pick up more. Although I don't drink, my wife and daughter proclaim the whiskey and gin to be excellent. Flights of cocktails? Yes, please!!! So delicious! Such a nice change of pace if you typically do wine or cider tastings. Not in anyway knocking them, it's just fun to do flights of something unique like vodka and gins from Wild Roots. Their tasting room is lovely; it has a clean modern decor reflective of the clean taste of their spirits. The vodkas and gins are flavored with real fruit - think blackberry, pear, peach, apple cinnamon, dark cherry and so much more. You can do a flight of the the vodka or a flight of mini cocktails that are beautiful, well thought out, and most important, delicious!!! For $15-20 you can sample most offerings. Definitely a good deal. In addition to their tasting room, Wild Roots is a fixture at many area Farmers Markets and craft festivals. Recently I saw them at the Milwaukee Farmers Market and they had a gorgeous display. I always buy the straight vodka and gin, preferring to make my own cocktails without having to commit to a flavored spirit. Just the way I roll. But for those who like flavored alcohol, they offer a pack of assorted mini bottles that are great for your own tasting party or hostess gifts. I'm a big fan of Wild Roots and go out of my way to purchase their products. Luckily the liquor stores support local and stock their products. The bottles and labels are so beautiful that I keep them out on display rather than hide them in my liquor cabinet! read more

Wild roots was cool. I have had their offerings and enjoyed them, but had not made the trip to the tasting room. Its a decent looking building. It was around a ton of cool coffee shops. The person in the shop was really nice. My wife grabbed a drink and I grabbed a flight, I believe mostly whiskey. The whiskey was pretty tasty, but in the end the one I wanted was a little more than I had to spend at the time on this trip. I was curious about a few of the vodkas, but I am not a huge vodka fan so it would sit for a while. I did like the stuff I tasted, but my whiskey shelf is already out of control, so maybe next time I will grab one. read more

Unique spirits, artistic decor, and great service. My fiance and I were in town visiting and we saw a Groupon for a tasting, mini cocktail and reusable metal straws so we thought we would try it and we had a great time. I tried a few different vodkas and my fiance had the gins and bourbon. I had the adult lemonade and he had the mule, both were delicious, but we both agreed mine really hit the spot! This tasting room is beautiful! We enjoyed flights where we got to choose which spirits to sample, as well as a cocktail menu. It was fun to be able to enjoy ourselves and try what we wanted before buying. They also have a wall with merchandise-clothing, barware, and even some candles! They also carry CBD products, and they even have slushies! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable-she answered all of our questions and gave us a detailed background on everything we tried. They are enforcing masking, sanitizing and distancing in a time of COVID-19. They have QR codes so you can scan the menu at your table. We would come back in a heartbeat! Came here recently with my partner. We already purchase their products occasionally so I thought it would be nice to go to their tasting room. Seems like a different location from years ago. The place is really nice, but it's a little weird you can't sit on the couch and enjoy your drink. Something to do with OLCC according to them. Anyway, the place looks great and service is pleasant. It was nice to sample new products as well as some I wouldn't just take a chance on by buying a bottle. Definitely think they've upgraded their cocktail game. I prefer this tasting room mostly because I prefer their products. That's because I prefer flavored alcohol. It's hard for me to taste straight vodka, but a lot easier to taste pear vodka for example. Mostly I'm giving it a higher rating because I like the cocktails and interior more than before. read more

What a cute homegrown storefront in the heart of Portland! I loved the decor and feel of the space. The two girls working here were friendly and knowledgeable about the product. My friend and I got there at the perfect time and had the place to ourselves. We were able to ask all the questions we had and enjoy our tasting before a group of 17 people crammed in with a "passport" - note that the space can comfortably accommodate roughly 6-8 people at any given time - there are not enough seats or space at the counter for much more than that. The fire code here probably is for max occupancy: 10 (including employees!) My friend had a Groupon for a tasting which gave us each 5 choices for sips and then a mini drink. They were all so good I couldn't decide which to purchase! I ended up getting the mixed pack with one of each flavor and the new little bottle of huckleberry! These would make great gifts for friends and it is nice to support this local business! read more

It's wild (haha) but my boyfriend and I actually tried Wild Roots peach-infused vodka at a Yelper party in Detroit months before visiting Portland. We loved it so much that we made a point to stop at their tasting room while there. I'm so glad we did, because their spirits are amazing! They also offer mini cocktail flights, which is genius and one of my favorite things. The tasting room is modern and bright, and the girls working while we were there were super helpful and polite. We chose the mini cocktail flight, which was $20 and great to try out some of their offerings. You can customize each cocktail with any of their spirits, but we mostly went with the recommended pairings: adult lemonade with fruity vodka (I think it was raspberry), frozen cherry cold brew with cherry vodka, gin & tonic with cucumber infused gin, Oregon mule, and apple chai with apple and cinnamon vodka. They were all delicious and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet. My favorites were the adult lemonade and the Oregon mule. But I really could have had a full size of any of them. The vodka is distilled 100 times and is like drinking water, it's incredibly smooth with absolutely no burn. The peach vodka is probably my favorite by itself but you can mix any of them to make lots of different cocktails. We also got a taste of the pear vodka and it tastes like straight up pear juice! I'd love to mix that into a drink. I highly recommend a stop to Wild Roots if you like craft spirits and cocktails. I'm keeping an eye out for Wild Roots locally where I live! read more

A quick drop in after walking across the Burnside Bridge, I decided to taste a flight of five fruit infused vodkas - Huckleberry, Peach, Pear, Dark Cherry and Marion Berry Infused vodkas. They were incredibly fruity, my favorites were Peach and Pear. I liked the minimalistic aesthetic that wasn't antiseptic. It was open, and bright with natural light through its many windows (Love natural light). The only unfun, awkward thing was I was the only customer and the "Spirit Guide" decided to work on the computer instead of talk story. So happy I found this place! My husband and I visited Portland a few weeks ago. We knew we'd be able to find plenty of breweries, but my personal favorite is vodka. This shop was not too big and very quaint. We sat up at the bar and were quickly greeted by someone. We went with a tasting of 5 plus a mini cocktail. This vodka was the best I've ever tasted. The fruit flavors include 3 pounds of fruit per bottle, they truly taste and smell like the flavor they are. My personal favorites were peach and pear. You can easily drink them on their own but they'd be great in a mixed drink as well. For the mini cocktail I had sweet tea with the peach flavored vodka, it was refreshing without being too sweet. I plan on buying multiple bottles during our next visit to Portland. read more

Wild Roots is a tasting room with a boutique type vibe. A nice and clean space with many drink options. They offer spirit tastings, spirit flights, mini cocktails, and now their canned cocktails. In my opinion the cocktails are great but they are super tiny. 5 dollars isn't a bad price but maybe not worth it for the size. But they do good quality drinks and if you enjoy fruit infused vodka this is your place. My favorite is the lemonade slushee with marionberry vodka on top. The 5 stars though comes from the fact that their infused vodkas are legit. I bought a sampler and the vodkas are out of the world delicious. Cannot recommend enough. The Wild Roots Vodka tasting room is a lovely little space to duck into for a tasting of deliciously fruity vodkas. I am in love with the pear vodka here! We tried all of them between the two of us and all of the fruit vodkas tasted exactly like the fruit - none of that fake flavor you'll find with the cheap mass produced brands. They also carry a plain vodka and some gin, but that pear vodka is definitely the star, in my book! There isn't any distilling equipment to look at as you'll find at other distillery/tasting rooms - this is just a tasting room. As a trade off, the space is more cute and casual. It's kind of like sitting at someone's counter in their kitchen. The young woman working here was friendly and chatted with us about podcasts while she guided us through the tastings (we did a Groupon, so we got take home some shot glasses too). After all was said and done (took about 30 minutes for tasting) we took home a bottle of that delicious pear vodka. Our friends and family loved it too, so we just got another bottle to replace the empty one! read more

A group of us gals came here for a birthday party. We bought the Distillery passports, which allowed us tastings at a ton of distilleries in the area and Wild Roots was our 2nd stop. I am no novice to their awesome vodkas. They do tastings in the Pearl on First Thursdays at Cascade Sotheby's International Realty, on NW 13th and Hoyt. I thought the pear vodka would be my favorite but the cinnamon apple was amazing and would be sooo good heated up on a cold winter night. I also tried the raspberry, marionberry and the dark cherry. I skipped the cranberry. For 2 reasons. 1) we only got 5 tastings. 2) cranberry ranks right up there with grapefruit and not in a good way. Those 2 fruits can go away, IMHO. The gal who did the tastings for us was super cool and very knowledgeable on the subject matter. She was also kind enough to oblige us in lots of photos. I bought a 6 pack of mini bottles because I couldn't make up my mind. When in doubt, buy them all! If you get a chance, stop by their tasting room, or if you are out and about on a First Thursday in the Pearl, swing by Sotheby's and go to the back. That is where we always find Wild Root tastings. No guarantees they will be there, but it doesn't hurt to pop in and check. read more

This was another distillery that had far more products (about a dozen) than the number you could taste in one day (5), and where everything I did try was amazing, so I was super sad about that fact. Anyway, though, everything I tried was indeed pretty fantastic, especially the raspberry (tasted like straight-up raspberry juice), and the apple (did taste like alcohol, but like really smooth, sweet, fresh-apple-y alcohol - I bought a bottle of this one. Would've loved a bottle of everything, but I only had so much room in my luggage.) The Cold Tree gin was a lot of fun, too - not the best gin I've ever had, but pretty tasty, and very Pacific-Northwest-y. I would definitely make sure to drop by if I was back in the area, to try more off the list I couldn't get to this time. read more

Having been privileged to enjoy this vodka at a recent Yelp Elite event at remote.ly, I want to share how wonderful this spirit is. In the past I have been plagued with headaches after drinking, and I recently figured out that I cannot drink beer or wine, because the following morning guarantees my feeling ill - and yes, often with only one glass, so I am not imbibing myself silly and then not expecting a hangover, duh. That doesn't mean that my past drinking behavior some larger amounts were involved, but age brings wisdom and experience and trials, so yeah, it's the tannines or sulphates or whatever. To return to Wild Roots vodka: a lemon drop cocktail was offered to me at the City Grill (I am pretty sure I have a pic up under my review a few years back) and loving lemon, I decided to try it. Yay, no headache!! Since then, I have tried many more cocktails; the Angry Habañero Mango is a favorite now. This vodka is smooth, regionally made, combines well with other flavors, and I am a fan! I had two cocktails that evening and no headache and a wonderful time. Going to buy me some soon, maybe today?! read more

Such a special little spot! Loved the decor and atmosphere! Stopped in after a day of exploring Portland and Mississippi Street. We shared a flight of the spirits as well as a mini cocktail flight. Loved being able to taste the spirits and then how they taste in a cocktail - ended up buying a bottle of the peach vodka and the pear vodka. The flavors are phenomenal - the vodka is infused with real fruit, which really shines through - the complexity of real fruit is so delightful, rather than just artificial fruit flavors. We ended up enjoying the peach vodka on ice later in the evening while laying in bed in our hotel room watching TV, so tasty!! read more

Super yummy Vodkas! We love the Marion berry for making yummy drinks. They have many flavors. And I love that they are a local brand.

I loved the setting and atmosphere here, very feminine. The tasting guide had Adele playing so that was happy in my book. She was super nice, not as knowledgable as some others but she said she works there part time so I understand. Raspberry was so good, it had a very tart flavor but I enjoyed it. The Marionberry was amazing with lemonade. I wanted to buy it so badly but taking it back with us to the East Coast is just too difficult. She said you can't put them on their sides because it will pop the top out. I love the signage here, the typography is on point; that's the nerd in me! The fruit is all real with no preservatives which is awesome and the reason you need to refrigerator it after opening. I think these would be great for summer drinks or a brunch! They also have cream soda recipes for the alcohols and I got to try one which was dangerously delicious. read more
