We have been multiple times over 4 years but I've never written a review. We came here at 9pm after leaving a spot across the street halfway though the meal due to terrible service. I know how it is when a table gets seated basically At closing time. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and attentive. She gave great recommendations and the bar staff mixed up some great drinks as well. We were never rushed out and we couldn't have been happier with another great experience here. Stopped by for lunch on our vacation and the service and food did not disappoint!!! Sat outside and was a perfect setting for our meal. A great little place to eat a fine meal while in Highlands. It can get crowded so reservations are recommended. On a nice day conducer the tables outside. When we ate there was a rather annoying folk music type band playing in the courtyard. It was rather loud, making conversation difficult. It seems like a solid place. Maybe just a bit pretentious. Rode motorcycles from SC and stopped here for a late lunch. We arrived a little after 2pm and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table outside. Food, drinks, and service were all amazing! I had the black burger with the rice salad, definitely recommend both of those. It was pricey, but it's Highlands so it comes with the territory. This past Sunday Jimmy was our hero server, but tonight Angela, our bartender, was. My party of three were fortunate enough to sit at the bar and not only was Angela an incredible bartender, but she was a godsend serving us as well. Her positive attitude, her expertise, her smile, her product knowledge with not only the alcohol suggestions, but also with the menu items and tonight's specials were beyond exceptional. I have dined at this restaurant several times and have been very pleased each time. But, yesterday was the BEST ever! It was all because of our server, Jim, who went above and beyond to make our experience there magnificent. He was slammed due to their being extremely busy, but he was attentive and always had a smile on his face and a fantastic attitude. He recommended the crab cake sandwich for me and it was excellent. When they say "no filler" in their crab cakes, they mean it! But our lunch experience there was just absolutely made by Jim. He's a true gem and if his bosses see this, they need to give that awesome man a raise! :) I can't rave about him enough (as you can see). He's a true ROCK STAR! The WORST customer service ever! Rude hostess/owner to start and then served cold French fries. I was told they were "too busy" to replace the cold ones with hot ones. We had lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was almost full inside and out. They have a full bar, which also has full food service. Our server was friendly and helpful. She told us about the specials and took our drink orders right away. We were a party of four and each of us had something different. Everything was fresh, cooked and seasoned just right. Best meal we had while staying in Highlands, NC. Food was impeccable, staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful with menu suggestions. We had the spring rolls and lobster tempura for appetizers and I cannot say enough good things about the lobster. It was a delight! Our entrees were equally delicious! My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the crab cakes. I really don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. Went here with my entire family. I was able to reserve two tables because there were 12 of us. Plenty of parking downtown, although it can be a little difficult to park when it gets crowded. The place was nicely decorated. Outdoor seating was a plus! It was nice to enjoy the cooler mountain weather. Service was great, although I do have to say that the food took a little longer to get served. I do take into account that there were a lot of us, so I'll give them some slack! The food is on par price-wise with other "fancier" restaurants. Our entire party enjoyed their meals! I had one of their specials for that day which was the Chilean sea bass. Anyway, we came on a busy Saturday afternoon and I felt lucky we got seated right away. I ordered a glass of rose, my husband got a beer. I ordered the soup of the day ($4.95), which was a Thai Coconut. It had silky noodles, and a rich broth with a kick to it; it was delicious. For lunch I got the Goat Cheese Salad ($10.95 + $5 for Grilled Portobello) and really enjoyed it. It came with mixed greens, goat cheese, toasted pecans, grilled red onion with the big Portobello on the top and the Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side. My husband got the Crab Cake Sandwich, which were two smallish crab cakes on a large baguette with sweet potato chips, that tasted like Terra Chips from the bag. Wild Thyme is a solid place in a town with what I consider to have limited dining options. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch on our visit to the Highlands. We chose Wild Thyme because it had the best reviews and seemed to have a pretty decent menu. The restaurant was packed when we arrived which is generally a good sign so we were pretty excited to try them out. We started off with the soup special which I believe was a seafood chowder. I can't remember off hand anymore so it obviously wasn't memorable. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which I did like. The crab cakes were delicious, not overly fishy tasting which I like. It was seasoned just right and had great flavor. The downside was it was served on a baguette which made eating it weird but that's really neither here nor there. I'm sure you can have them switch it up. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was served on a different bread is all. But overall it was still a pretty awesome sandwich. The lunch menu was simple but everything seemed solid. You can't beat a deliciously crafted sandwich! I'd be interested to try out their dinner menu. I say if you're in the area Wild Thyme is a good place to try out. read more
