But if you are looking for a home base to explore the area- it's perfect. Everyone who works there was super kind & helpful. The manager (I think) even bought us dinner one night to celebrate our anniversary. The WiFi is virtually non-existent. Which is exactly why I booked an entire week this coming summer and we're taking the kids. Perfect place to unwind and just be.

Its so quiet, and the views of the lake from the living room and master bedroom are epic. I enjoyed sitting inside by the fire and watching outside, it was so peaceful. We ate at the lodge, the food was so yummy. We loved the soups and bread. Perfect after being in the snow. Wes did a phenomenal job serving our table. We also went on a guided snowmobile tour. Candice was our guide and she did fantastic. She made our adventure so much fun!! My cheeks hurt after because I was laughing and smiling so much. We will DEFINITELY be back!!! Staff were so kind to me and catered to my unique thru-hiker needs. They even shuttled me around because I was traveling on foot! This was the PERFECT place to recover after being caught in a multi-day snow storm on the mountain. The owners are outdoor enthusiasts, so they are genuinely interested in helping everyone enjoy the outdoors. Very hiker friendly! Great atmosphere. Caring staff. Cozy rooms. Stunning views. Delicious food. Cute gift shop. Roaring fires. Fair prices. Live music. I was able to get the rest I needed and to get all of my things prepared to continue on my PCT adventure. I was treated like family. I felt like I was in Heaven. Unforgettable.

Premium sites were reserved for those that can afford to rent spots and yet do not have to occupy…read morethem! These rented sites sat vacant for the four days we were there while we were left with an undesirable spot! With some pressure they gave us another "Premium" site situated in a gravel area with roads on two sides and another trailer situated 12 feet from ours. Fire pits and picnic tables in that area are unusable due to the proximity of neighbors. Attached are photos of the first "Premium" site we were given.... Yes that is actually a site next to public areas and fuel tanks! Terrible!

Their "premium drive through" spots are misleading. They are drive through, but certainly not premium. Electric only. No water nearby, sp. 55. Several spots stacked on one another. Our trailer and the motor coach next door, were only 12' apart. Gravel only and the fire pit and picnic table were virtually unusable due to proximity to the road. Our rate was $75/night, with a supposed 20% "FLASH" discount. This is a crowded, over-priced RV facility that has gone downhill in recent years. SAD!

Approximately a week before I booked a room at the Best Western Newberry in La Pine Oregon, I was…read morenotified that my cousin was in ICU in Bend- to say this was shocking would be an understatement. I rushed to Bend to be at her bedside, she was only 51, and sadly she passed three days later. I drove approximately 200 miles home to pick up my husband and son and put together a few things. Also I booked a room with Best Western Newberry because I needed to go back to La Pine for an impromptu funeral for my cousin. Once I checked into the hotel and I had seen the room I was given, I was appalled! I then requested another room, but I was informed there were no available rooms, except for possibly one that wouldn't even be open until Thursday at 2, but I would have to be out by 11, then move again to a another room that would possibly be open on Friday at 2. You can see by the attached photos unsafe exposed ducting, wires, window screen and not mention the dirty moldy stall shower. The air conditioning unit sometimes worked and I did call the front desk to asked for maintenance. I was informed not to adjust the thermostat, there were problems with the unit and it would freeze over. Therefore it was either hot in the room or freezing. I could not even open the window to cool the room off due to window screen being so damaged that insects or whatever could get in and also I was concerned for my family's safety. The Wi-Fi was horrible! Completely unstable, it continuously dropped, I would have to re-login so often that I actually memorize the login and password. The Wi-Fi could not even support my own logged in channels on the TV. I was so fed up. I just used my own data so my son could watch shows and our cell phones could have internet. There were no power sources near the bed whatsoever so charging our phones, etc., was ridiculous. I truly did not feel safe in the room with all the issues, especially the exposed wires. Unfortunately, I felt had no other choice but to stay in the room I was given. I had to be in La Pine. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager after we checked out and got home. The hotel manager stated that the room that I thought I booked was misadvertised on the Best Western Newberry hotel webpage and I was actually booked for ADA room. Shel also stated that I should have expressed more of the issues with the room during my stay and because I did not she could only offer me $100 or $150 gift card towards another stay with best Western Hotels. I respectfully declined. I truly don't understand what difference it would have made for me to express "more of the issues" with the room, also not to mention I would hope that a guest who actually needed a ADA room would not have to accept the accommodations that I was given as their only choice. I would think at the very least some form of courtesy notice from the hotel explaining the condition of the room prior to my stay would have given me a choice to change the room or even upgrade before the hotel was completely booked. I was under complete distress and did not want to cause any other conflict that may have resulted in no place for my family and I to stay for my cousin's funeral. I chose Best Western hotel because I am a Best Western member and for over $700 for 3 nights I could depend on Best Western for decent room during this devastating, heartbreaking tragedy. Unfortunately this was not the case. Please check double check and even reconsider your stay with Best Western Newberry in La Pine Oregon

We came here for a 6 day family reunion trip. Two families stayed in cabins (we were in #2, other…read morefamily was in #3) and two stayed in their own trailers in the park. Overall we were really pleased with our stay. The cabins are about 85 years old but in good condition and our cabin had a cool old fridge that my kids were really impressed with ("the door is so heavy!"). The kitchen was pretty well appointed and had a coffee maker, toaster, silverware, dishes, most kitchen utensils, pots and pans, baking dishes, and even a hand mixer! Our cabin consisted of a full or queen sized bed in a room with an attached bathroom and a futon bed in the living room. We have 4 children under 10 and we barely fit! Laundry is available ($1.50 per wash or dry load) as long as they aren't using them to do cabin laundry. I ended up having to wait 30 min for cabin laundry load to finish but was able to do two loads of my own with no interruptions. The owners were great. About 1 hour after arrival I got a big sliver in my hand and had forgotten to bring tweezers. I went up to the little store/check in area and they did not have tweezers for sale. So the owner lady went to her personal first aid kit and got tweezers and then pulled them out for me! I joked that I did not know that medical services were included :) The guy owner gave our two youngest kids a ride in his tractor when he saw how in awe they were. Pretty nice! The little store has very very limited items. However, just down the road there is a bigger store that has more and in about 30 minutes you can reach an actual grocery if you need one. Wifi is available but very very weak, at least in the cabin area. The only downside to the cottages is their close proximity to Hwy 58. You can hear traffic very loudly. Its not too bad at night but not really all that quiet. It also made me a little nervous with my wandering 3 year old. That said, the creek itself has a lovely sound that drowns out the traffic and I was not bothered too much by the traffic noise overall. The surrounding area is gorgeous, tons of Forest Service roads to explore, Crescent Lake (Simax Beach being our favorite), the gorgeous and clear Lake Waldo, Willamette Pass, which unfortunately did not have their gondolas open when we visited. Odell Lake had some great recreation options but was non usable when we visited due to blue-green algae. The COOLEST thing that you must do is go out to the Sunriver Observatory, about 1 hour away, at night and look through their telescopes. Whoa. So cool. That was the highlight of our trip. You can also go during the day and view the sun... one of the few places in the US you can do so. Well worth the drive.

A king size sleigh bed, a high top table and 2 bar stools, awesome nightstands with table lamps on each side. The bathroom was fair sized, and plenty of room outside the bathroom for all your extras. A fridge/freezer and a microwave. I loved the bench right outside the front door. If you're a smoker, there's even a can of sand for your cigarette. The convenience of the BigFoot Tavern right next door and the Mohawk restaurant across the street made it even better! All the conveniences, at an awesome price. Don't underestimate this place. Definately worth the stay!!!

Shortly after we arrived, they yelled at our 1.5 and 4.5-year-old kids for touching the sprinkler system. Instead of a polite heads-up, it was immediate hostility. Later, they got snarky with us for being about 10 minutes past checkout--even though no one was waiting for our site, and we were clearly in the process of leaving. It wasn't just a reminder; it was rude and unnecessary. We had to directly ask them not to speak to us so nastily. Between the two families, all of us felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. There are just too many beautiful and friendly places to stay in this region to deal with that kind of treatment. The only reason I'd recommend this place is if you absolutely need a hot shower and can't find one elsewhere. Otherwise, steer clear.
