Beautiful area and stunning lake. Fished a derby this weekend and had a blast. The cabins are in need of some help but were adequate for what we needed. My husband and I stayed a couple nights last summer to celebrate our anniversary. It's not a fancy resort. The cabins are basic. The beds are ok. The restaurant is pretty good. But if you are looking for a home base to explore the area- it's perfect. Everyone who works there was super kind & helpful. The manager (I think) even bought us dinner one night to celebrate our anniversary. The WiFi is virtually non-existent. Which is exactly why I booked an entire week this coming summer and we're taking the kids. Perfect place to unwind and just be. read more

We have been going to Crescent Lake off and on over the last 35 yrs with our children who are now grown. Our son has great memories of the lake and wanted to take his kids there on 7/30/18. After a fun afternoon at Tranquil Cove we went to the Lodge before heading home. Our grandkids wanted to ride the big tricycles on the lake and the man who rents them out was more than kind to the grandkids :-) He was helpful and gave them a good deal on the rental which made everyone happy. I think he said his name was Lonnie but I am not sure. We are glad that the employees of the Lodge are such nice people - the gals in the bar/restaurant were very friendly too! read more

I've been coming here with my family for 30 years. Before Hoodoo bought them they were respectful and somewhat organized. Since the purchase we have been repeatedly treated like garbage. We have booked one of the nicer cabins 4 times, paid the deposit, and 3 of those times they canceled our reservation to give it to someone else they knew. The last two times, we even checked in every couple of weeks to make sure it was confirmed. They still gave it away to someone else with no replacement options, explanation, or apology. They just blamed their computer, which is ridiculous. We talked with several other people who had experienced the same thing. It is really disappointing because it is a really beautiful place but there is no guarantee you will have a place to stay. read more

The name is misleading. This is less a "resort" and more a campground. The cabins range from yuck to ok (we only saw two), and the "lodge" is a small, two-room building filled with cheap furniture (Formica tables). The fireplace is cozy, and the actual bar is wood, but otherwise it's a lot like being in a very unappealing diner. We were disappointed upon arriving, but decided to make the best of it. However, on our second day the "lodge" was closed most of the day, so we couldn't get in to eat or sit by the fire. We'd been told they'd be open at 11am, but when they were still closed for a meeting at 1:30 and the staff couldn't say when they'd be open, we reached our limit and checked out a day early. If you're looking for a charming lakeside resort, look elsewhere. If you're aiming to go camping without really roughing it, then this place might be for you. read more

We bought the Living Social deal too, but they extended this due to demand and allowed us to use it Labor Day weekend which was very cool of them. The lake is beautiful....it is cold, though. If you want to get in the water, later in the summer is better as the snow-melt water has all summer to warm up a bit. I agree with the person who mentioned that furniture was not clean. Everything did smell like dog (they allow dogs in cabins for free). The sheets also weren't clean when we arrived (we complained about that). The heater should have been replaced years ago.....bearings were shot in it and you had a choice of freezing or listening to loud whistling all night. We rewashed all the dishes before using them. The TV is really bad....they should either cut it off completely or pay another $3-5 to get a base package from DirectTV. You get no national networks/no sports/no news/no local stations, 20 infomercials, and 2-3 cartoon stations.....we went during a big college football weekend and you could not find a single game. The lodge hosted the Ducks/LSU game, but they reserved out all of the tables to people staying at the campground next door. This place really needs to get a TV for their patio for events. Food at the lodge was decent.....you could get a large pizza for about $20 and they had mac&cheese for the kids. There is wifi if you stay near the lodge....they don't tell you about it. The jetski rental they included was very cool.....2 hours excl gas. Gas ran up to $22 for us and kids had a blast. They also have fishing boats available, but don't include depth finders so fishing from these in a 300+ foot deep lake would be very difficult unless you knew the lake well. Aqua cycles were great too.....I wouldn't pay $20/hr for one, but free was a good price. read more

We've been vacationing here for over 10 years. The "resort" has changed hands three times in the last 10 years, and we were hoping for some good changes once Hoodoo stepped in and started running things three years ago. Sadly, the cabins are not in great shape, and really are only a step above camping. They suit our needs, but we bring our own bedding and I try to do as little cooking in the kitchens as possible. They have been slowly remodeling some of the cabins, but the one that we stay in (Crane Prairie) has the same tired furniture and the carpet has seen better days. However, the kitchen floor is linoleum, as opposed to some of the other cabins which have carpet, so that's a plus, we just ignore the fact that it slopes drastically. There is usually a problem somewhere in the camp with the sewer, and that can be smelly, depending on how far away your cabin is from the problem. We have never been in the winter, but I imagine that the wall mounted space heaters must run around the clock to keep the place warm, which isn't as much of an issue in the summer, but it does get cold at night, and the heaters are loud. The staff has always been kind, and are attentive when we have had problems, but it appears that they have limited resources and can only do so much. The lodge has a full bar, and the food is pretty standard for what you would expect in a small, out of the way town. Food Services of America. The lake is beautiful, and the beaches are great. We've never had a problem getting a spot on the dock to moor our boat, and the lake is never very crowded. The water is cold, even in August, but if the weather is nice this isn't too much of an issue. You can leave your stuff on the beach and in the boat and not have to worry about things getting stolen, and they are pretty strict about pets running wild. We go in August and the yellow jackets can really be a problem. It would be nice if they had some traps around camp, but you can go buy some at the store up the road. We are hopeful that they will continue to make improvements to the accommodations, and we still enjoy our time spent there. It's a great place for kids, and we always go home dirty and tired. If you stay in one of the cabins close to the lodge you will have wi-fi, but it can be pretty spotty, as is the cell phone coverage. read more

First of all, Crescent Lake has been one of our favorite places to camp for decades. Beautiful lake, great campsites and a nice array of fun things to do. Sadly, we've seen the facilities and service go downhill with every "management" change, but this past week was the worst EVER. We got a campsite close to the main boat landing where campers and day use people all share one bathroom...yes, ONE. We chose this spot because we have a differently-abled person in our group and needed to be close to both boat access and a suitable restroom. When the bathroom ran out of toilet paper (one day into our stay) we informed the camp hosts who told us they weren't responsible for stocking that particular bathroom, the forest service was. Huh? Almost all the bathrooms in the campground are stocked by the camp hosts, except for 2 or 3. Soooo, we asked them to contact the forest service and have them restock. Get this: they supposedly don't have ANY numbers to call and weren't interested in trying to find them. WTF? One camp host said he placed some of the partial rolls of TP in that bathroom just to be "nice" but ultimately it wasn't his problem. Two days into our stay the forest service DID restock that restroom....with 2 rolls that were gone in less than 24 hours. Then it was back to nothing. Our differently abled friend couldn't comfortably walk to another restroom because the next closest one was across uneven terrain that would've been unsafe for them to traverse every time they needed to pee. So we ended up using paper towels as TP. By the time we left (two days later) the bathroom STILL hadn't been restocked! So here we are, paying the same rate as everyone else and not getting the same service. How hard is it to stock one simple restroom? Apparently pretty difficult because no one there could figure out how to do it, despite multiple complaints. I really hope these people get their act together and start providing services at the level befitting the campground's wonderful history. This last week the services were truly pathetic. read more

If i could I would give this a half star the service wS so bad... Took 10 minutes before a waiter even acknowledged we had sat down and then another 20 before she took our order and OVER an hour to receive our food. It wasnt like they were absolutely packed either. To top of the horrible service our waitress WREAKED of alcohol, not like an oops i spilt some, like ive been taking shots my whole shift. Wont ever eat here again which is sad because i love the rest of the resort. read more

we got a "deal" for this place on living social and didnt do too much homework- so- some of it is our fault. It was snowing, raining and freezing in late may- so be wary of weather- its up in the mountains. But here is the biggest thing- the furniture, had to be 20 yrs old and smelled like wet dog- with large holes in it. Sheets ok but comforter, again, holes, and maybe 10 yrs of use? Bed WAS very comfortable though. Kitchenette useful but old, old silverware, pots and pans- yuk. Almost no elect. outlets, and NO MICROWAVE? They should get this one, microwaves, about $50 for A LITTLE ONE, WOULD SAVE TONS OF ELECTRICITY..... Next gripe- I called and was told they had grilles, but wasnt told there are none at each cabin, you could RENT a weber for $10- and get this- NO FIRE-RINGs?? Hello- folks! We go camping in some cold mountains we want a nice FIRE! Oh, another major one- {if you're stuck inside|} TV is direct tv and they have the barest package available- basically there was like 40 infomercial channels, ngc, and i think comedy central- I couldnt watch any news at all- it showed and allowed ABC, but it was playing a montel infomercial instead. Loud heater- in living room- and almost broken elec. oil heaters in bedrooms which, again were like 10 yrs old. View of lake was real nice, and would've been better if the nasty dog tongue slime {?} was rinsed off the windows- - all of them- yuk. So, if you want anything like a decent motel or whatever , forget it- If you're a young pack of fisherman wanting something just above a tent- its ideal. I will say this- for $90 there was 2 doubles and a single bed, so at $15 a person I wouldve loved it in my youth. 1000 times better than a tent. Shower, though cramped had lots of nice hot water- and was enjoyed. I caNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE FOOD AT THE RESTAURANT- BUT THE MENU LOOKED GOOD, AND PRICES FAIR- and they had a little mini bar area that looked ok. People were fairly friendly also- I doubt we'll be back-- oh, and the "free boat" w/ 2 day rental is a tiny one- which i would only take out 50 feet from shore on a calm day- and definitely not in the wind chop we experienced all weekend... jet skis mightve been fun, a few months later. read more

We also did the LS deal. And overall I was happy with the experience. The people working the resort and the other guests (mostly white guys who fish) were very nice, the food at the "lodge" was perfectly good diner food--the cob salad, fries, and burgers were quite good, actually, and they had a decent chardonnay. The scenery is the gorgeous mountain-lake-landscape of Oregon that we all love. I took a long walk with my six year old daughter through the adjacent, forested campground: we saw snakes, chipmunks, birds. A western grebe came by the shore in the morning and evening. We saw a bald eagle winging by. We made our own fire circle outside with rocks that were around, which seemed perfectly permissible. We got a boat with our deal and thankfully my father-in-law was with us to both fix the boat (the resort's handyman didn't have the right tools) and guide us on a lovely fishing trip. The trouble is with the cottages. They're pretty gross. The furniture isn't just old, it's worn out and ugly. Most of it is from that worst of all eras, the 70s and 80s: thick dark wood, unappealing to begin with and now greasy with age and use. The "overstuffed" chair and couch in the living room were losing their stuffing, literally. The beds were fine, it's true, and in our usual bedbug check it looked like the mattresses were pretty new, but they were jammed into these dark, poorly lit rooms. On the upside, one needn't worry one's child or animal will ruin anything. And I have to say, it was clean, the kitchen was not crammed full of useless plastic crap left behind by others, the fridge was completely absent of leftover, crusty condiments, and the towels--get this--were fantastic. White, fluffy, gorgeous clean towels. In the end, between the beautiful setting and the squalid cottages, I don't think it's worth $175 a night for a 2-bdrm deluxe. Because of LS, we paid 125 a night. That seems just about right for what you get. read more

Not so peaceful It's not often I complain about experiences with businesses but my husband and I were disappointed with our recent stay here. My review pertains to company policies and failure to communicate with us. I booked our stay here over a month out and after a long week of work, my husband and I were looking forward to a nice relaxing stay at crescent lake resort. When we arrived at 330 pm on Friday afternoon, the first thing we heard was beastie boys "fight for your right" blaring in the background. We laughed it off, thinking it was an event at the lake or coming from the lodge (which it was). After checking in, we realized it was a wedding party and that there would be a reception later that evening. Ok, no big deal we thought. Well, as the evening progressed and the reception commenced it was a big deal. Our cabin was very close to the lodge and for the next several hours we endured very LOUD music pounding through our cabin walls. Now I'm no prude by any means and understand that companies do host weddings on their properties but my complaint is that the company does not seem to care that they have other guests not associated with the event that are also trying to enjoy themselves. That evening, we had to crank up the tv volume and play or own music. So much for a quiet evening or book reading. Not to mention the drunk shenanigans that ensued later in the evening by inebriated guests arguing outside our bedroom window at 1 am! Fast forward to checkout on Sunday morning. The woman I talked to was polite and understanding when I explained to her why we did not have a pleasant experience. I told her I was surprised they didn't call guests that were booked into the middle of a wedding party (we were basically the only ones not associated with the event) to ask if they still wanted to come understanding that there would be a lot of hoopla happening. She said they'd never done this before but didn't indicate that she thought this was a good idea (why would they potentially lose out on profit)? Also I asked if there were noise limitations like as to how loud the music could be. She kept asking if it was after 10. Does it matter if it's after 10 if the music is POUNDING the walls and it feels like we are "vacationing" next to a nightclub in Portland? She kept saying it was a resort and they allow events. Well I've never been to a Resort that didn't respect the needs of other guests and not just the wedding party. Long story short - call this place if you have reservation to make sure you will not be vacationing in the middle of an event. The other night was great, nice and peaceful like I had hoped the whole weekend would be. Wish I hadn't wasted the time and money it took to drive out there. read more

I can't speak to the condition of the rooms because I've only eaten there once and been into the supply store a handful of times. The food was good, the service was friendly but incredibly slow considering that they had three waitresses on at the time and only two tables (including my party of two). I almost felt like I was putting them out by being there, but they did go out of their way to accommodate a special food request we had so I can't say the service was bad, just slow and, perhaps, odd? I would definitely go back and see how things shake out a second time if I feel like heading out to the lake. read more

The cabins are getting very run down and in need of repairs. Outlet in bathroom didn't have screws holding into wall. Sink drips, toilet runs, toilet seat is broken, etc. Price is high for the lodging but you are really paying for location. I wasn't expecting fancy spa type amenities but we didn't even get a bar of soap. Really?? Staff is unreliable. Waiting 20 minutes for the store to open one day. read more

Ok we used the deal from Living Social and the pictures online make it look a little less rustic then it is. It's upscale from tent camping in that you have a frig, sink, private bathroom w/shower, stove top w/oven and clean beds w/sheets. We kinda knew not to expect total luxury so we packed accordingly. We went in early June w/my husband, 2 girls and 2 dogs. The weather was perfect! The staff were extremely laid back and nice! It felt like a "small town" camping site. The lake was breath taking!! Water a little too cold to swim in but we have some awesome pictures! We got to try an aqua cycle and if you pay for the gas, 2 hrs of a VERY fast jet ski. My kids loved the jet ski even tho one got thrown in the freezing water. Oh the cabin even has Direct TV but no internet (which I prefer not having). If you love nature and aren't high maintanence then this is the place for you. Bring your own food to cook up and it will save you money (they do have a restuarant on site but nothing fancy). Again our family really enjoyed our stay and plan to return. read more

Setting is beautiful, staff was great, & snowmobiling was so much fun. But....lots of problems here and avoidable issues. Boyfriend and I came here to SPECIFICALLY rent a double snowmobile, calling a few weeks in advance to make a reservation. Crucial info we didn't find out UNTIL WE GOT THERE...no double is to go out by itself for safety and liability reasons. That's fine, but nobody notified us letting us know they had no other reservations for the day and didn't say this could be an issue when I made the reservation. They did work with us giving two sleds, one half off. So they still got more $ from us. Deposit online states "$300" but says on a board when you get there "$500". They also charge for fuel and a map which also wasn't stated online. It also doesn't take long to tell that to a person over the phone. Website needs to be updated!!! All this info wasn't even under "policies" SO BEWARE! Also, there were no other reservations again the following day so we again couldn't rent a double, and they wouldn't give us the same discount so we bagged it. Some money is better than no money you would think considering we weren't even out the full two hours and used very little fuel. Didn't stay in cabins (we were at Shelter Cove 10 miles west on HWY 58 and loved it) but only "Paulina" and "Crescent" were lakefront. "Ochoco" was on a little hill but had a deck overlooking the lake. "South and North Twin" had the "newest" remodel (info from employee). They also had problems with freezing pipes as we heard. Will we be back?? Maybe, but we atleast know now what to expect, and now you do too. It was closer to 2 1/2 stars but the setting and adrenaline rush on the sleds pushed me to 3 stars. Closed in the winter now which is stupid. Used to be a great stop when playing in the snow. Definitely needs some repairs and fixing up.
