If you are scheduled for a procedure at Premiere Surgery Center, I highly recommend reading this…read morereview. I was scheduled for an outpatient procedure at Premiere Surgery Center in Concord, CA. Although I have undergone several similar procedures with the same doctor, this was my first visit to PSC. I checked Yelp reviews before my procedure and became concerned by what I was reading, particularly the more recent reviews, ranging from about 26 days to a year old. There was enough consistency in the complaints that I felt I needed to address my concerns. I called PSC and asked to speak with an administrator. I was told the administrator was out and there was no one available. I then asked to speak with a charge nurse or floor supervisor. This was around 10:00 a.m. I was told a nurse would call me. By 2:00 p.m., I had not received a call, so I called again and was assured I would receive a call before the end of the day. By 4:45 p.m., I still had not received a call, so I called again. There was some confusion, but I was eventually connected with a nurse. I explained my concerns. She was already aware of the negative Yelp reviews and was extremely professional, personable and reassuring. She shared her history with PSC and my doctor and took the time to address every concern I had -- and then some. That conversation completely changed my anxiety level. She was confident and knowledgeable, and I felt much more comfortable going into my procedure. She also told me the procedure room would be very cold and suggested appropriate clothing. I asked whether completing the patient forms online would save time. She confirmed the forms were current and that completing them in advance would reduce my waiting time. The morning of my procedure, I arrived with my paperwork completed. PSC asks that your driver wait outside, but if you need someone with you for support, they do not object. Upon entering, I was greeted and my initial information was taken. I was directed to the registration/waiting area, which had quite a few people waiting but was comfortable. The reception staff were personable, organized and clear. Because I had completed my forms, this part went quickly, and I was called to the back within about 10 minutes. As I walked into the pre-op area, I immediately noticed that it was clean, organized and comfortable. There were large, puffy, cushioned chairs covered with clean sheets, with individual areas separated by curtains. The chairs were comfortable and much more inviting than I expected. The pre-op area was not large, but it was arranged efficiently. Even as more patients arrived, it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. Privacy was consistently respected, and the bathroom was extremely clean. My nurse, Myra, was very pleasant. She explained the procedure and started my IV quickly and easily, which I particularly appreciated because I am not a fan of IVs! She also respected my request regarding IV placement, which had been documented during my previous telephone conversation. I felt that someone had actually listened to me. About 12 minutes later, RN Chantel took me to the procedure room, only about five minutes past my scheduled time. She was extremely personable, confident and reassuring. As I walked through the facility, I paid attention to my surroundings because of the concerns I had developed from the reviews. What I saw was clean, orderly and well maintained. Yes, some spaces were small and some furniture was aged, but nothing was unacceptable. I saw no reason to be concerned about the size of the rooms. The procedure room was clean and organized, with equipment and supplies arranged in an orderly manner. I felt confident that I was in a professional medical facility. By this point, I was completely at ease. Once I saw my doctor, Dr. Hou, everything remained calm and went smoothly. Afterward, I was taken by wheelchair to recovery, monitored, given water and crackers, and checked several times before being wheeled out to my waiting ride. A special thank you to Myra, Chantel, Aeyzah, Hanna, Christine and, of course, Dr. Hou. I also want to recognize the registration staff, whose names I unfortunately did not get. My experience at Premiere Surgery Center was extremely positive, and I felt secure in the environment. I am not discounting the experiences described in other Yelp reviews. Everyone's experience is personal, and I can only speak to mine. However, I did not see or experience the issues described in the negative reviews I had read. In fact, my experience was quite the opposite. Based on my experience, it is clear PSC takes pride in the service they provide. Everyone I encountered was professional, personable, respectful and attentive. Most importantly, Thank you, Dr. Hou and the entire PSC family, for taking such good care of me.

Another Reviewer compared the waiting room to the DMV and that is accurate: it's crowded, people…read moretalking loudly, one woman was using the speakerphone option on her cellphone (so everyone got to listen in on this persons inane conversation for about five minutes), then she started up conversations with the poor people around her about the stupidest topics which were seemingly picked at random in her hamster-wheel of a mind. At one point, I was (thiiiiis close) to asking her to pleeeeeeaaaase shut the heck up but I was saved by the bell when my name was called. Behind the door in the receiving/prep room it looks and sounds like a Detroit assembly line. Nurses/techs are quickly moving hither, thither and yon at blinding speed, loudly speaking to patients and each another and lowering gurneys, with patients onboard for the ride, with audible "thunks". (They even return sedated patients back into the prep room after their procedure right there in front of God and everybody! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes.) Yes, the prep room has privacy curtains but they're not fully closed so neither your privacy nor dignity are their concern. *Truly, there is nothing even remotely comforting or calming whatsoever about being in the prep room, where efficiency at all costs presumably reigns supreme.* To whit, I saw the physician that would perform my procedure greet a patient, then see them taken to the surgical suite, perform the procedure, return and greet another patient from whom he was removing cancerous polyps in his colon (I know this because as I mentioned before, everyone can hear everything in the prep room), perform the procedure and return to the prep room for me--all within the span of 25-30 minutes! Like I said, efficiency reigns supreme! In the surgical suite I was briefly acknowledged by the doctor performing my endoscopy and no one else. The anesthesiologist walked over, checked my IV line and I asked him if he was using propofol to which he literally grunted in the affirmative, then walked away while a surgical tech unceremoniously placed an oral bite block in my mouth (no explanation, just ruthless efficiency). The anesthesiologist returned, juiced me up with a fresh dose of "Milk of Amnesia" and down I went. I woke up in the prep room after obviously being wheeled back under sedation in front of the other patients-in-waiting, my "privacy" curtain hurriedly "closed" and I was told to get dressed. (For all intents and purposes she might as well have told me to hurry up and clear out.) The physician arrived at my bedside (gurneyside?) and provided me with the paperwork and photos of my procedure, asked if I had any questions, to which I had none because I was still a bit foggy, and promptly beat feet for the next patient. Efficiency at all costs. Seriously, it was a dystopian wonder to behold. I would not have been surprised in the slightest if the shady doctor from the Simpsons walked in and said, "Hiiii, everybody!" Yes, it's like that. One bright note: the nurse who ran my IV, Stephanie, did a superior job! Quick, virtually painless (really just felt like a tiny pinprick on the top of the skin), no bruising and only the smallest dot on my hand afterwards. Give her a raise--she's fantastic!

For a long time, I wasn't feeling like myself -- constant sadness, low energy, painful periods, and so many other symptoms that were affecting my quality of life. My doctor at Kaiser suggested it was depression, but something inside me kept telling me there was more to it. I started doing my own research and learned about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I didn't know MSPA offered it until they sent me an invitation last October. I made an appointment right away. From the very first visit, the staff made me feel heard and comfortable. They were kind, patient, and took the time to walk me through everything -- what the treatment involved, what to expect, and why it might help. They sent me to Quest Diagnostics for bloodwork to check my hormone levels, and after reviewing the results, we moved forward with the procedure. It was quick -- about 10 minutes -- and the only discomfort was a brief sting from the anesthesia. Within the first month, I noticed a remarkable difference. For the first time in my life, I had my period with NO cramps. I felt happy -- genuinely happy. It's hard to describe, but it's like I finally wanted to live again. Six months in, and there is no going back. This has been a life-changing experience. It turns out it wasn't depression or me "feeling crazy" -- it was my hormones. I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff -- Stacey, Brittany, and Hailey -- as well as the friendly and welcoming team at the front desk. You are all truly appreciated -- every single one of you. From the moment I walked in, you made me feel welcome, cared for, and never rushed. Your warmth and professionalism made a huge difference in my experience, and I am truly grateful for each of you. I can't recommend this team enough.

She performed surgery in October 2025, but I received no post-op communication from Dr. Kwan. I had to proactively call with concerns when the bulge remained. At my follow-up, the issue was still present, and a CT scan later confirmed the hernia had not been repaired. Dr. Kwan then admitted she had repaired a different hernia during surgery and missed the one that was originally diagnosed and causing my symptoms. I was never informed before or after surgery that the correct hernia had not been addressed or that a new/different one was present. I only learned this weeks later after raising concerns myself. This experience was extremely concerning and disappointing, both in terms of the surgical error, lack of communication, and now the need for repeat surgery.
