Anyway, the mechanic, Chuck, did a thorough diagnostic test, checked all that could be wrong, test drove my car, and found nothing wrong. I was told it was most likely my driving habits causing the engine light to illuminate. I checked out with Lauren, who was very nice. She explained the findings in detail. She said to bring the car back if the light comes on again. To make the visit even more special, Lauren told me there would be "no charge". Holy Lucky Day, Batman. I was ecstatic. I admit, I cried when I drove away. I'm not usually that fortunate. Veteran's is a treasure. They were honest, fair and professional. After driving the car back to Michigan, the humming noise was unbearable. So I took the car into a local BELLE tire too have the tires inspected. First thing the technician noticed was that each tire was from a separate manufacturer. I contacted the dealership and their answer was by the state of Wisconsin they are only responsible for putting tires on the vehicle with enough tire tread to meet safe driving. Who puts 4 tires from four manufacturers on a 46 K car. Could have been a 1200-dollar fix but the general manager simply told me good luck we did what we are expected to do by state laws. I asked Mark to install 3 plugs on the back side of the engine, the hard ones to replace. He advised that would require and hour of service $138. I agreed and signed the agreement. I ended up with a bill including $126.00 diagnostic test. I was told, a new or rebuilt transmission would be appropriate. Do you think they checked the transmission fluid? No but they charged me $126.00 to read the code. I understand car Dealer Service Centers earn $1,000,0000 per year. I think Mark is right up there, ripping off people like me. If you are an honest operator, is there any hope for people driving older cars ?? Try checking the Transmission fluid level, it is not impossible even though it is a sealed system, it has a cap clearly visible and accessible. Gary K.
