This is a place you can feel good supporting. The employees here are very hardworking and kind, always a great experience. The food is always great with huge portions and a large variety for dietary needs. I went here with my Burger group on March 10th 2014. I took a poll of the group and based on very subjective criteria I scored them in several different categories on a scale of 1 to 10. BUN: 6.4 BEEF: 7.5 CHEESE: 8.2 EXTRAS: 7.8 AMBIANCE: 4.9 ACCURACY: 5.6 SPEED: 7.6 VALUE: 7.9 OVERALL SCORE: 7.1 if I equate the 7.1/10 score to the 5 star rating it becomes 3.55 Stars William's is a great place to stop by for lunch if you work in RTP, but be prepared to wait. Our burger group however went on a Monday night, and the place was mostly deserted. That said you can see from the overall scores GENERALLY people were please with the food. There were two areas William's really gets dinged: Ambiance and Accuracy. From an ambiance standpoint William's I think is just very plain. Compared to some of the other burger places we've been there's just nothing here that stands out or makes it feel unique. From an accuracy perspective, very few of our burgers came out cooked the way we asked for. The two burgers I asked for medium and they were clearly well done. I will confess though having been here during lunch before I HAVEN'T had this problem. So this could be cook related, I don't know. Overall William's is a great place to have a burger. William's has catered for a couple of HOA meetings, and before one Board meeting I stopped in for a burger and fries. I left with a "black 'n blue" Cajun spiced hamburger with melted crumbled blue cheese. Yummy! Along with that, the house speciality, sweet potato fries in a "waffle fries" pattern. The included cinnamon butter dipping sauce was unexpected, but superb. The whole thing was sublime. We've gone to Williams since they opened about 5yrs ago. Like many places we've been to, our experience has come down. A few years ago, it would have definitely been a 4 star place. Recently, I think three is as fair as I can give. Service- not usually a big deal for me, but these people have generally been pretty awesome. The sisters who work during the day are great and a guy named, Shay I think. was really helpful, however I haven't seen him in months so he may no longer be around. The other staff they've hired since have been fine. Not bad, but not like the others. Overall, you won't have a bad experience with service. Food- pretty good. It's a diner folks. Let's be real. It's locally owned and run, so already a big plus in our book. Some of the food is really amazing. Some of it is what you would make at home. Order wisely. Their specials are worth it! Generally pretty unique (just ordered a meatloaf sandwich recently) and a lot of times we have requested the specials on non-special days. They are pretty easy going! The soups are great, salads are well, salads and sandwiches are avg to great. Breakfast is the way to go; good portions, delicious food and best value on the menu. Prices- a bit high for a sandwich only, no sides, so we haven't come as much as we would like. Breakfast is a value, lunch/dinners not as much. If they could knock a dollar or two off or add a side or two to the entree, I would bump up to 4 stars in a heartbeat. Overall, we really like Williams. Local food, good preparation and good service. We'll keep coming, but will cross our fingers that the prices/portions get a little more competitive. read more

We love Williams! The food is as fresh as can be, and the service is friendly. Brittany always has a bright, beautiful smile to greet you; she knows my husband's favorite order by heart (blackened chicken sandwich with blue cheese). I feel happy getting to go there to eat - it is a real treat!!! Antonio is an outstanding cook - and his blackened chicken is second to none! This place is a favorite of my husband and I...and he frequents this place about once a week. Your order is made just for you...not sitting back in a pre-made kitchen, so it is hot and fresh when it comes out. We look forward to lunch there as often as we can, and want to try breakfast too - which we hear is amazing. Today I did a to go order in their drive through window - and my husband is elated that we're having Williams Gourmet for dinner. I get the blackened chicken on the side with garden salad and dressing on the side...it is delicious perfection and more than enough for a couple of meals with one order. My family and I love Williams! It's a quirky little dinner with fast service, delicious food and a friendly staff. When our relatives visit, we always make sure to stop by Williams for breakfast. The food is quality (definitely better than Waffle House) and we love that we can eat in, eat outside or get it to go. Our only problem is that they aren't open on Sundays! We get it, but I can't tell you how many times we've forgotten and gone there and were disappointed because they were closed. read more

They have only a few choices for vegetarians but the food is good. you can customize somewhat to your needs. The place gives a feel of local diner with good food. We ate here on a Friday , placing our order 30 mins before closing .My friend is Hispanic as was the intake person --but despite this we ended up with food we discussed but specifically said we did not want . I would prefer to praise this food because on the whole it was very good . The sandwiches are Humongous. We ended up with a turkey sandwich , Burger and a chicken salad sandwich. I asked for Wheat bread instead of a croissant for the chicken salad . All three were almost the size of a standard salad plate . The chicken salad was somehow " HOT" despite supposedly only having black pepper in it . The Turkey was " a good mix" and not too spice for my friend who also liked the basil tomato bread it included . The Burger was cooked to order -no pink .It disappointed me because it had few mushrooms and therefore no mushroom flavor . Actually the Swiss cheese was so mild its flavor was faint --but still a GOOD burger . It was served on a Brioche bun which added to the sweetness you get with Swiss cheese . Please note because not everyone wants a " sweet NOTE to their Burger Potato Salad --- deserves a place in the Potato Salad Hall of Fame . I have cookbooks devoted to Potato Salad alone . I love this place...with an office nearby it is a staple of breakfast and lunch during our hectic work days. The breakfast omelets are amazing, the oatmeal is hearty and filling and pretty much everything we've tried at lunch is phenomenal. I visited this restaurant twice in one week for takeout. Once for lunch and the next day for breakfast. Their turkey sandwich was flavorful and delicious. The Greek salad, 1/2 portion was just how I like it. Could've used more dressing though. The next morning for breakfast I ordered the breakfast sampler. It came with eggs, your choice of meat, I had all bacon and your choice of hash browns or grits, I got the hash browns and the largest pancake I've ever seen. It was the size of a plate and an inch think and boy was it good. Unfortunately the hash browns were burnt and crunchy so I gave most of it to my dog. They did not skimp on the bacon either. From my limited experience based on a catered work lunch, the sandwiches and salads are light, fresh and inviting. I tried half of a sundried tomato tortilla wrap with veggies, feta and sprouts, which was nicely flavoured with the right amount of dressing. The pasta salad was a little less exciting but still tasty, and overall a pleasant meal and better than your standard catered work lunch. read more

This place is a good restaurant to have a cheap and filling breakfast. I liked my chicken fajita omelet, which was fluffy and good. My husband got the southwestern omelet, which I liked better than my own. He also got the grits which were really fluffy and tasty, probably from all the butter and salt. It was definitely not a healthy breakfast but it was delicious. The items were on the saltier side, but it tasted good from doing hot yoga in the morning. I'm sure if I wanted to order something healthier, I could choose items from the menu with less salt and fat. I would like to go back and try more things on the menu. read more

I have eaten here several times for lunch and I should preface that this review really should be 3.5 stars, but I'll round up for creativity. This place does have many unique sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been pretty tasty, I just think they are a bit overpriced. There are bergers and sandwiches served here you just can't find elsewhere in the area. They Havel amazing burgers and soups, and I know their club sandwich is good as well as their sweet potato fries, which comes with cinnamon butter, how can that be bad? On my recent visit I got the soup of the day, which was shrimp bisque and I got the royal with cheese burger(they take temps on buyers BTW). The shrimp bisque was alright not a standout like the loaded potato soup, which you should definitely try. The burger was good the egg and guacamole made it unique. I've never had anything spectacular here, but there food is imaginative, tasty, and they really have something for everyone. read more

If you are a student in the Durham area and you want some good food and free wi-fi to study, then this is the place for you. I had the steak and cheese and it was the best one I have ever had. But what made this place even better was the wi-fi. Being a law student, we study constantly so going to a place where I can get a good meal and study is a added plus. I work near William's, so every time I go, it's packed. The food is always good. One of my favorites is the buffalo chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. The only true drawback is the price. A few of my coworkers wanted to order takeout from here, so I decided I would give it a try. What a nice surprise! I got the Chipotle bacon cheeseburger with a side of french fries. Cheeseburger was delicious! Could not think of one thing wrong with it. Even though I'm not a big fan of the steak fries, these were perfectly seasoned and fresh. Stopped here for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. I wanted something better and healthier than the typical fast food options. I had the breakfast platter with scrambled egg whites, turkey sausage, grits and wheat toast. The eggs were good and upon request they made my turkey sausage a little burnt just the way I like it. The grits were perfect, not too thick and not too soupy. They had a nice creamy texture. I will definitely return here again. Next time I'm in the area on business I want to try the lunch menu.
