If you haven't been to this establishment, you walk up and order. The gals at the counter are friendly and efficient. You seat yourself and your meal gets delivered to you. Soda and tea you can fill and refill yourself. Today I was craving a burger so I ordered a cheeseburger with fries well done. My husband got a platter of 3 meats. It was all delicious, the burger satisfied my cravings. It was juicy and bigger than I expected. My fries were made to perfection. We love this place!! The burgers are just so juicy and full of flavor! I always upgrade to the onion rings because they are just so good and that buttermilk ranch is heaven! They have huge sodas with free refill stations and lots of fun BBQ sauces to try! It's more of a quick service so you order at the counter and they bring you your food! I'm able to order my meat lean which I really appreciate. The sandwich comes with your choice of bread, which goes great with garlic toast. The meat is lean, the perfect amount of smoke flavor and super tender. I picked Hush Puppies for my side, they came fresh and crispy. Not over loaded with onion flavor which I appreciate. My husband ordered the Brunswick Stew and raved about it. He said it was packed with meat! We ordered via Uber so food was delivered, with a 20 minute drive it still was fresh and well packed. Would definitely not going to drive 25 minutes to get there and open up the plate and found a POOR portion of BBQ. Usually we but at Bono's, but this people said that their BBQ are better, which is the same thing, I do BBQ all the time and I know that. But the point is the Really POOR portion, I did call them and explain what I saw when I opened and me and my family was very surprised and disappointed. The brisket came only one little peace and the turkey came 3 very small slices, ribs didn't came with enough meat either. I bought 2 plates, paid for the 3 entries and the other one was 2 entries. Not very close to where we live but it's always fun to try a new place We read what our fellow Yelpers wrote and we decided to try their pulled pork platters. Came with two sides and a piece of garlic toast. I ordered fries and coleslaw and wife had green beans and slaw. Fries nice and hot like they should be and a nice size portion (could have split these). Wife's green beans served hot with nicely seasoned. We both like our coleslaw They have a four bbq sauces - at a self serve station. They are heated. We liked our pulled pork - good size portions. Served on metal plates - yep plastic knives and forks. So it's a 4. Good worth a try but for "real BBQ" spend some time in Texas. read more

My family and I stopped here for a quick barbeque fix and I am so glad we did! This is one of those places where you walk in and place your order then find your own table. They will pick up your order and call out your name and bring it to the table when it's ready. My in laws split the burger special with bbq sauce, cheddar and an onion ring and said it was really good. My husband and I split the brisket and smoked wings with two sides and they were both absolutely delicious! This place also has a separate a bbq sauce bar where you can help yourself to different kinds of bbq sauces. We had a corporate work event and wanted to order delivery. We chose this place for some good BBQ. We got the fried pickles w/ranch (OMG so yum), its the perfect mixture of tangy and creamy, I got a pulled pork sandwich, fries, macaroni, hickory wings, and the BBQ nachos. We appreciated that they kept the chips and toppings separate, so they weren't soggy upon arrival. They gave us a good mixture of different sauces. I haven't had the best meals here in the past, but they stepped up their game! We ordered through door dash which had a significant amount of fees unfortunately, but we had plenty of food and some leftovers as well! It was $74 for all of our food. Yup I believe it is just that unfortunately, clearly they made an investment in the infrastructure checking off each detail to ensure it fits the profile of just another location in their business model. The food is okay but expensive for what you get, the restaurant is professionally laid out as you'd expect, but the term "old school" is a reach in my opinion but it sounds nice. The" roasted meats" are okay but inconsistent, we ordered a half rack of ribs which were under cooked and chewy, the same ribs on the 2 meat platter were barked up and fell off the bone the seasoning was as inconsistent as the doneness. The sauce bar was a nice touch- warmed sauce from the bottle out of the retail inventory, I just get the feeling it's more about marketing than the food. I love BBQ but this is not what I consider great BBQ, no pit master would serve up this and feel good about it, the service was friendly and attentive but they aren't excited about them food. It was just okay and at the same time disappointing. It's probably a nice addition to the area offering up some diversity for the locals, but it's likely to become like an old hat like any chain restaurant, you'll settle to dine here out of boredom. read more

Last year's visit was so memorable we decided to go back when we found ourselves in St Augustine again this year. It was actually Easter Sunday, the a4 of us arrived in what seemed to be a relentless thunder storm and knew it was close to where we were staying. We checked to see if they were open and so we headed out, thankfully the storm had let up some. We were the only ones in the place and although we had intended to do a carry out. The place felt comfortable and it smelled just amazing so we decided to eat in. We all ordered different items, except for the peach cobbler. That's just something seldom available elsewhere and we couldn't pass it up. The portions are substantial. They come out piping hot. The food came out super quickly and every bite was wonderful. I lived in Austin a few years and really love beef brisket. Tender, tantalizing and cooked to perfection as at Salt Lick BBQ. Wet in Texas actually is fatty but at here they actually say fatty. Um, no. They have a sauce bar but I tried only the mild. It had a deep vinegary kick which I prefer over screaming hot. The platter was $12.99 and came with a lot of brisket. It was tough so I gave the rest to my cat. I ordered the sides of green beans and mashed redskins served in tiny paper containers. The potatoes were the special of the day. They were out of iced tea both sweetened and unsweetened so I settled for diet coke. They do have grape lemonade which apparently is a local favorite but I don't even try regular lemonade unless it is sugar free. The restaurant is nice with upended galvanized apple baskets for lights, rustic decor and great servers and hospitality. read more
