I drove by this small park that I did not know existed and stopped to take a quick walk-through. Ended up staying a little longer because of the cartography art I discovered on the ground of the plaza area. I'm a nerd that loves maps and geography so I was excited; even more so because I had been to the following points that were labeled and given coordinates: Mt Wilson Point Dume Mt San Antonio Mt Baden-Powell Point Fermin Griffith Park Observatory Sandstone Peak Point Vicente Went home and did my research. This park opened on November 2012 and is the location of Longview Point, the highest peak in Long Beach. There is no grass at this park. The plaza area is partially made of tumbled glass. It's pretty but I would be concerned about bringing your pooches on this surfaced section. These four acres overlook the cemetery to the south but you wouldn't know it unless you walk off the trail to the boundary and looked down. Unlike Hilltop Park about a mile away, not so much of a view here unless you like looking at those green oil pumps but I shall return on a clearer day to see if that holds true. Hope this park stays clean.

This park needs to attention. I came for the first time and the parking lot had cars parked with people smoking and doing who knows what else. Seems shady. I get out, got my pepper spray and took a trail. Every educational sign had graffiti on it. If the city took money and cleaned it up to make it look like a well visited and cared for park, it can be very beautiful.

Despite having this picture of the map with me I got turned around 2x lol. I recommend when making the descent to always stay to the right.

My favorite place in long beach, there is a small farm, LB sustainability HQ, community composting and there is free mulch!

Is it ok to bring dogs?

I suppose if on a leash and behaved. It's a wildlife preserve and may not be ok.

Still nice but with a major upgrade. It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Long Beach has its hidden gems and this place was one of them.

Quieter, green grass (it'd be nice to bring a book here) away from the hustle and bustle. And the views are hard to beat, the Lighthouse, the shore with boats and Queen Mary in the near distance. Bring a snack, a drink, take a nice break here, a cool walk to explore the Shoreline Park. Always enjoyable!

And it's completely free. At the top, there's a flat, grassy path that runs along Ocean Boulevard, and it's great for walking, jogging, or pushing strollers. You'll see a steady mix of locals and visitors out here, from joggers getting in miles, families strolling, and plenty of dog walkers taking advantage of how dog-friendly the whole area is. Getting down to the beach is simple too, thanks to multiple staircases that drop from the bluff to the sand below. From there, you can connect to the roughly three mile paved pedestrian and bike path that runs along the shoreline. Parking along Ocean Boulevard is generally pretty easy to find and often free, which makes it even more convenient than most coastal spots. And if you want to make a day of it, you're within walking distance of a lot of local favorites like the Bixby Park farmers market, neighborhood juice bars, and a bunch of casual, dog-friendly restaurants. Seriously, Long Beach is a city that LOVES their pups! The park itself is also home to some nice touches of history and scenery, including historic architecture nearby and the Lone Sailor Memorial, a bronze statue overlooking the ocean that honors the U.S. Navy and Long Beach's naval roots. All in all, Bluff Park feels like one of the most beautiful parks in Long Beach. It's simple, scenic, and right on the water, with unbeatable ocean views and an atmosphere that works just as well for locals as it does for visitors.

The garden features a large pond filled with koi, including around 30 big koi and what looks like hundreds of smaller ones they are raising. It is a relaxing place to watch the fish swim by and enjoy the scenery. One of the best parts is that visiting is free, but you do need to make a reservation ahead of time. They allow up to six people per reservation, and they typically do not take walk-ins, so plan ahead before coming. The garden itself is on the smaller side, and the walking path takes about 15 minutes at a casual pace. Still, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. You will find charming bridges, small waterfalls, lily pads throughout the pond, and even a little Zen garden area. Even though it is compact, the peaceful atmosphere and the well-kept grounds make it a great visit. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and want a quiet, refreshing escape.
