5 star eating establishment. A local casual, out of the way place to get delicious food. It is nothing fancy, but then I don't go to a restaurant for fancy, I go for great food and Willowes does not disappoint. The waitress Desirae was promptly taking my drink order and recommending the onion straws for an appetizer. She delivered it with both a homemade ranch as well as a homemade Cajun ranch for dipping. Make sure to try the Cajun ranch sauce. I the ordered the Cajun Pasta and did it deliver. Shrimp, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms in Cajun white sauce served over penned pasta. It came with 2 pieces of Texas toast. I required 2 more pieces to soak up all that lovely sauce. The meal was very reasonably priced. They serve Pepsi products. I recommend this place next time you're in the area. I was staying at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park and wanted to eat. There wasn't a lot to choose from but I found this place and am so glad I did. Being a big-city gal and a female traveling alone I can feel a little apprehensive when stopping in small towns. It was obvious all the customers were regulars and they all knew each other, but the staff made me feel welcome. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I had never had meatloaf smothered with brown gravy before but it was great! They have a full bar and a great selection of beer. I loved the ambiance of the place, it felt like a throw-back in time. The menu was a combination of good old-fashioned comfort foods and some exotic items on the menu. They have something for everybody. read more

Great hometown atmosphere. Waitresses so sweet. You could tell most patrons were regulars. I had the French dip so tasty. Brown gravy was not good on the mashed potatoes though. Nice side salad, fried pork tenderloin was tasty. It is in Linn creek not Montreal. We took a 20 minute detour to get there from Montreal. read more

I have tried the fried chicken and it is ok. I usually get the grouper fish sandwich with fried potato salad, which used to be really good. But lately the portions are much smaller and the price went up. Not what it used to be food wise. The atmosphere is decent. They have Guinness now which is an improvement. This is a country bar and grill. The atmosphere is nice and it is clean. I was there on a Friday night and it was pretty slow. There were a lot of empty stools at the bar and most of the tables were vacant. There were only 6 tables occupied out of about 22. The food from the kitchen came out pretty slow. The servers were okay. They seemed to be trying to do their best at the level that the establishment was likely expecting from them. I would return to this location. The food had decent flavor and was at a good temperature when served. There was nothing bad about this place other than the feeling that it took a long time to get food out of the kitchen. read more

I hate to leave a bad review on any business but feel I must. My husband and I ordered the Friday night special of fried cod. The fish felt wet and we at first thought it was greasy but because we were so hungry we dug in and realized that it was raw breading on one side of each piece of fish. His fries were cold too. My hubs picked off his breading and I left one piece untouched after seeing how raw it was on one side. We both chuckled that at least the coleslaw out of a bag tasted good. Our server could tell that we did not like it and was apologetic, I told her it wasn't her fault but they should tell the cook. She came back w the check and it was for the full price of both meals. I realize food is not cheap and we did eat part of it, but that is not a good way to do business. We both feel as though they should have taken one meal off the ticket or applied a discount. We have been to Willowes before and never had anything so gross. I tipped for the full amount as it wasn't her fault, but they lost our business for life. I gave one star for the ambiance of the place and how sweet our server was. Do better. read more

I come in to shoot trap at Linn Creek from Texas. This place is amazing. Other food and beverage operations should train their staff here. The food is outstanding and service even better. Excellent drinks and cold beer if that is your choosing. I'll be there soon again since we will be shooting on the 20th. of Sept. I'm ready for some of that grilled Grouper. If you're like me and love to support family-owned places, this is the place for you. I've never been to a bar & grill with a better staff. I've been to Willowes for lunch & dinner more times than I can remember and if the food didn't keep me coming back, the staff would! Call ahead to find out the specials. You MUST go for the prime rib and lasagna specials. Soooooo good!! My favorite regular menu items are the crab rangoon dip, GIANT mushrooms, meatloaf & grouper. If a burger is what you're in to, the Patty Melt is awesome. Another must try, is the deluxe grilled cheese, YUM!! The staff goes out of their way to always make sure you're happy. What sets this place apart from any other place at the lake (aside from their fantastic food) is that other places hire seasonal people who could care less about the reputation of their employer. Willowes employees are family and friends who care about their patrons. That's other reason people keep coming back. read more

Good food, great service. According to my fiancé the Liver and Onions are the best. I asked him on scale of 1-10 how was it and he said 12. Only been there twice and go early to avoid smoke which isn't to bad. Smoking section is open so still smell it. Good ice tea which is important to me. Great variety of food. read more

Poor service. The grilled grouper was awful. The coleslaw was inedible. The kids had chicken strips and fries, they said they were "ok". My wife had the country fried steak. She said the only reason she could eat the meat was because of the gravy. I don't know what the so called "biscuit" was, but it had to be off the shelf re-heat, and was not at all what I'd call a biscuit. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. This restaurant is family. This restaurant is home. I don't normally give a five star review because there's always room in any place for improvement. From fast and courteous service to a family friendly atmosphere and incredible food ( bar and grill with a touch of down home comfort food ) and incredibly talented local entertainment... Brings to mind a song by Toby Keith... I LOVE THIS BAR! When my husband and I walk through the doors our wait staff has two cherry DR. Pepper's... Friendly staff, food is ok if you stick to what they are good at fixing. Fish sandwich was fine, but meatloaf was not so good. This place was recommended for fried chicken. It turned out that is only served on the first Sunday of the month. How could a place with good fried chicken not gave good homemade meatloaf?
