I do not work for and am not affiliated with wilm build supply. However, Just reading these reviews, people are obviously ignorant to their own stench of what a pain they are as a consumer. If you look at the other reviews left by these people, they are not exactly balanced. They use Yelp exclusively to leave bad reviews. For the record, I have worked with, and used Wilm build supply for years personally and professionally, and have never had an issue. There are 3 unhappy customers on Yelp, and Wilm has been busy since the early 1900's, so how many happy customers are out there using WORD OF MOUTH to keep local businesses in business? People like the aforementioned reviewers are why Yelp is not a viable source of balanced reviews. They have no accountability. If this was a verified Facebook account, with their picture, they wouldn't be talking crap as freely. If a customer makes it a chore to earn their business, I personally wouldn't want it. Especially if they can't take personal accountability for their own home projects. It's called a tape measure. Measure twice, order once. Simple. read more

They had what I needed but GOD what a hassle. I got a quote from one guy in the store on what I was looking for, shopped around to make sure I was getting a good price, then came back a few days later to put in my order. Since the guy I'd dealt with wasn't there, the other two employees made it abundantly clear that my presence was an unwelcome hassle. They were incredibly rude and talked about me in front of my face like I wasn't standing 5 feet away. Well, I happened to be in a good mood that day, and shrugged off the rudeness, thinking it wasn't really worth getting bent out of shape about. They told me that my order would be in three weeks later and then walked away after taking my deposit. No "thanks for coming," or "have a nice day," they just turned their backs and walked away. Well, I called a few days before my order was supposed to come in to make sure I could plan to be home when delivery would happen, and was told my order would be five days later than was promised. I was pissed, obviously, since I'd already hired a contractor who was ready to go on the promised delivery date. I expressed that it was later than promised, and the guy told me that it was "close enough." Not really, but there wasn't anything they could do at that point. So the promised delivery date arrives, and I took a day off from work that I couldn't really afford so that I would be home to take delivery. Lo and behold, I get an email from this guy first thing in the morning, saying the truck would be coming in early in the afternoon, but that the items wouldn't be sorted and couldn't be delivered until the next morning. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I had waited an extra five days without complaint, dealt with their rude attitude without getting upset, but this was too much. So I emailed back (and was admittedly rude, but I was fed up), saying that wouldn't work since no one would be home to take delivery and I'd already taken the day off, relying on his word the order would be delivered that day. He emailed back that they would be bringing it to my house that afternoon. The guys showed up, and again I was treated to the rude attitude. It was the most unpleasant and off-putting shopping experience I've had in quite a while. I got what I ordered, and they get the two stars for doing their job, but I wouldn't go back. I wouldn't recommend shopping there unless you have a really high BS tolerance. It's really not worth the hassle. read more

I don.t even know where to start but I can not remember when I had an easy time there . They don't keep track of inventory.I will call to see if they have something in stock and they say they will call me back .crickets! No call. yesterday I called looking for siding and the tell me they got 5 cases left and I asked if they could check before I go there . Sure let me get your number and I will call you back . NO CALL so I call back asking if they have this certain siding and they tell me they have like 60 cases .I get there and they sell me the wrong stuff after 20 minutes later I have to go back in and get a credit and try to locate the right stuff.go back outside give the guy the slip and now I have been there for 45 min .The guy come back hands me the case and it look like the right stuff says exactly what I want on box . I get home open box wrong stuff.BACK TO STORE I GO ! After today I'm done I will drive further than I have to to get stuff. read more

Uggg, terrible shopping experience! If you are not building a house or better yet, an entire condo development, then this is not the place to be shopping for your lumber needs. As a small contractor, I have always found Wilmington Builders Supply to be the most restrictive, cumbersome and time-wasting shopping experience for small and medium miscellaneous building supplies purchases that I have ever experienced. Their staff is very unfriendly and act as if your value as a paying customer is not all that important to them. But I must admit, the warehouse guy was very honest when he conveyed to me that the reason he had to be so intrusive and omnipresent, was because 'people walk out the gate without paying' (paraphrased). I really didn't know how to take that and do appreciate that there are people who do such nasty things, however, I'm not one of them! So, as an inherently honest person, I actually found this statement to be patently insulting. Anyway, allow me to digress.... Although their warehouse storage facility is meticulously maintained and abundantly stocked, a potential buyer is restricted from even looking at stock prior to purchasing and forget about thinking you are going to have an opportunity to pick and choose - that just isn't going to be allowed at Wilmington Builders Supply! All of the premium offerings are stored on the second level and the buyer is restricted from going up there. Perhaps an insurance issue, but I have never had issues with inspecting and choosing my stock at their competitors such as Doyle Lumber (Andover), Concord Lumber (Concord), Sherburne Lumber (Tyngsboro), Jackson Lumber (Lawrence), Moore Lumber, etc. Let's face it, anyone doing high quality work makes an effort to do their best to choose what they are spending their hard-earned money on. My latest visit to Wilmington Builders Supply was a forever deal breaker as I refuse to spend my dollars at a local business that doesn't place a value on my making an effort to shop at their business. Allow me to explain: I recently went in for some of that stock that's stored on that top level and was actually told I could go up there (surprisingly!). I thought for sure that I was doing everything by the book as I checked in at the office first and told them what I was looking for, etc. They then directed me to the warehouse. Upon entering, I was greeted by a warehouse guy who actually escorted me to the stairs leading to the second level. As soon as I found what I was in need of, he placed himself right by my side as if to be guarding his possessions. He then started making comments that I wasn't even supposed to be up there despite the fact that he told me to go up there in the first place. Yes, I naturally found this confusing, irritating and interfering in my need to run some mind-math in determining just what lengths and what totals I would need. I wasn't even going through the stock as the item that I was in need of was in strapped eight-piece bundles which prevented me from an opportunity to inspect each piece even if I so desired. When I made the point to him that it was he who told me to go up there he then ratcheted to def-con level two and told me that I was not to be touching the stock. Umm! That was it! I told him that I was going to file a complaint at the office and believe me, he was more then thrilled to direct me to the president, Robert McNamara to whom I immediately marched. My conversation with Mr. McNamara was, to say the least, both enlightening and most importantly off-putting. He, from the get-go, made it very clear that he was not at all interested in my complaint, my business or my money and conveyed a complete indifference to my concerns. Worse yet, he refused to do anything to even make me feel that my business and my dollars were of any value to Wilmington Builders Supply. I found him to be smug, arrogant and indifferent as he made it abundantly clear that any decision on my part to not do business with Wilmington Building Supply meant absolutely nothing to him. So I walked out and I will never be back. You see, I live in the United States of America and as such, we all have choices. Competition is all around us and when a business owner treats one as if his or her business is of no worth to them, then it is up to us to take our business elsewhere and to those businesses who earn it and appreciate it. Furthermore, I decided years ago that I would make every effort to do my best to avoid spending at the big mega-stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's and that I would make every effort to direct my spending to the local businesses. So while I'm doing my best to be a committed supporter of local businesses, WBS will not be one of them. read more

Wilmington Builders has disappointing customer service. Ordered balusters and railings. The salesman John came out and I thought at that time was awesome. he knew what to order for us to do the railings as my husband was going to do the work. We met and he placed the order. When the balusters came in they were way to high to do a railing He got 39 inch balusters. Brought them back and they said it should not be a problem but that there might be a restocking charge and John needed to call us. We ordered the appropriate height so we could do the railings. A month goes by .....no call at all. Went down to find out and John called us liars and we signed the order etc. manager says "there's nothing I could do" which I cannot believe. It went from great to a disaster and will never use them again. It was the worst experience ever. Out almost 300 dollars To boot the salesman knew how short I am and should have realized that the balusters would have made a railing way too high for me. read more
