I would like to highly recommend ASHLEE HORNICK, PA. She has treated me a number of times with multiple Orthopedic injuries. Ashlee is very compassionate, she gives you a number of options for pain, inflammation and a number of different types of injections. Ashlee was extremely sweet and thorough during each of my exams and follow ups. PAs like Ashlee never get enough credit for the amazing job that they do. While the facility is clean the experience bombed bad. We brought my 20 month old because he had been sick all week. We were worried an ear infection or strep throat, maybe even the flu. It's a few days before Christmas so we wanted to play it safe and get checked. The first visit was three hour wait and 15 minutes in the room...?! The doctor didn't look at his throat or test for anything. Looked in his ears and said "I'll just give him an antibiotic in case he has something, that will take care of anything"!!! What!? Then my son had a allergic reaction to the antibiotic because instead of regular amoxicillin he gave him some other crap he never had before. So we had to come back and they said there won't be a wait just come right in and be seen. So here we are with another 2 hour wait and both visits nobody seems particularly interested in my sons health or our questions as parents. We will never come back here for anything. We been better off waiting in the hospital ER for 3 hours and getting better service. read more

I only came here for a TB test and reading, so my review won't be as well-developed as some, but I still have things to say! I work in healthcare, so I needed to get my yearly TB test done. CVSes in the area don't do it, so I had few other places to turn to. I popped myself in and asked for a test. The cost was $29. Not too bad, but they don't take insurance for it. The clinical side of the lobby was packed. I was worried I would be called after everyone else, but I wondered why since I only needed some air injected under my skin. I sat around and waited for 30 minutes before I was called in. Clean, minimalistic room. Just like how every exam room should be. I was only in there for a few minutes anyway. The nurse who administered the test was very nice. Asked me how my day was, where did I work since I needed the test done, etc. She claimed to be over from the cardiovascular side of the building, so she didn't know her way around, but she did fine in my opinion. She also seemed to be out of breath. Poor dear. It was super busy that day. When I went back to visit, it was a Saturday and not busy at all. I had been sitting by myself for about 20 minutes when an elderly couple came in and they were called before I was. I was a little peeved because I just needed my test results back. Obviously, a communication error on their part because the nurse had no idea I was there until she saw me in the lobby. Another nurse did see me, but I don't think he was too concerned. The receptionist and the nurse who eventually read my results (negative, of course... and she read it right in the lobby - weird) apologized for making me wait. Anyway, got my paperwork signed and I was about to leave until I got my fingernail caught on something in my purse. I asked the receptionist for a bandaid and she was very hesitant to give me one. I thought maybe she was worried that I needed something more than a bandaid, like I was bleeding profusely from some unseen orifice because she gave me the once up-and-down, but she did eventually get me a bandaid. Wilmington Health - And here is the proof!! They don't care about the patients only want they money!! - Urgent Care Near Me - Jacksonville, North Carolina

If you expect your doctors to deny you pain management for kidney stones and tell you to "wait until the pain gets worse to come in" this is the place for you. If you expect your doctors to find kidney stones but not take any course of action for months and brush off your pain, this place is for you! My mother in law is immobile, she cannot come into the doctors without us bringing her and her doctor, Catherine Hawley, knows this. They found kidney stones a while back and didn't do anything about it, they set up the earliest appointment available which is in December. My mother in law called and cried about how much pain she was in and the doctor just told her "try to come in earlier" but the earliest appointment they have is, once again, in December. I find it extremely alarming that my mother in law filed a complaint about her care provider here and months later she's being refused pain management for kidney stones and being told nothing can be done. I hope for her sake and the hospitals sake that nothing happens to her otherwise this hospital can be held liable, especially since we will have it documented in her patient notes that she was refused care. read more

Slowest doctors office ever, I came there to get a drug test done and waited a good 45mins. They were rude on the phone and rude in person. I called before hand to ask if I needed an appointment for a drug test, and they told me no. If I have known that it was going to take forever for me to pee in a cup that took literally less then five mins, I would have made an appointment and came in two mins before I was to be seen. Oh, and the people in the receptionist area seem to have no clue how to properly enter in an "e-screen passport". Besides the customer service department really lacking here, the interior of the "Doctor's Office" was ugly in my opinion. For instance, the bathroom that they have you go in to take a urine sample has no sink in it, and there was signs and tape everywhere in the bathroom saying not to flush the toilet and to not put the urine sample in the little cubicle that connects the bathroom to the lab. If it weren't for Onslow county requiring that I get my test done here I would never visit this place again. read more

This is my first time here and I came in for a sinus infection and was the only person in the waiting room for 15 minutes prior to being called back to wait another 45 minutes in a suite. Well NO ONE came in except the nurse who had supplies to draw blood and give medication. Saying " the doctor want's to draw blood"...... I spoke up and said NO...... Wilmington Health - Urgent Care Near Me - Jacksonville, North Carolina

I have debated posting this review for several months now, but I think that anyone considering this place has a right to know my experience. I chose to go to Wilmington Health based on recommendations found on multiple websites. As a new patient, they required a telehealth visit with my provider prior to an actual office visit. I was charged $10 for this so-called visit. They scheduled me two appointments after that: one for labs and one for a visit with the provider once the lab results had been received. I requested an annual physical exam with a PAP (I was due for one). Both were supposed to be covered 100% by my insurance. I was mistakenly charged a $10 copay at the time of visit, which I spent several weeks resolving with the office. They credited my account back with the $10. The visits primarily went well, but I was very uncomfortable during the gynecological portion of the exam. There was not a second person in the room to witness the exam, which has been standard in the past for gynecological exams with other providers. The provider did not give me a chance to relax before inserting a speculum into me, pried my legs back open when I closed my legs by reflex, and said "stop doing that" any time I inadvertently closed my legs because I was so uncomfortable. It seemed very forceful and I was too in shock to say anything at the time of the exam. I left the office in tears. I've never felt so violated by a healthcare provider in my life. Fast forward a few months, and I am still receiving bills for this visit. They ran lab tests other than a CBC and UA, but I didn't speak up about those because I thought those were more pertinent to my chief complaints. I was okay with paying ~$130 for those additional tests. However, apparently, during the gynecological exam, the provider ran tests other than the PAP without informing me. There were several tests not covered by my insurance. When I contacted Wilmington Health's billing about this, I told them I never authorized these tests, to which I was told "the provider can run tests without your authorization if they feel they are medically necessary." The tests that were ran on me were for STIs. I have been in a committed relationship with 1 partner for the last 4 years, so there was nothing that would have made those tests medically necessary. The unnecessary tests totaled ~$90. I have called back and spoken to several people about the extra charges, and I get a different excuse every time. One of the other excuses they have used is "this is standard for females your age at this clinic," when this has never happened with this type of exam anywhere else. They say they will call back after they "listen" to my concerns and don't. I highly doubt that this will be settled by the provider's office, based on the communication I have had with the office so far. The tests weren't covered by insurance, and though I didn't ask for or give consent to the tests being performed, I am sure I will still be responsible for the costs. This is the difference between eating healthy meals and eating Ramen for my family, but they don't care. They just want your money. I'm sharing this long review because I would not recommend this facility to anyone. It's not worth potentially being violated by your provider, your provider running tests on you without your consent, and having to pay fees for lab tests that you didn't even need. I will not be returning. PROs: - my provider's nurse/MA was friendly and helpful - the nurse/MA communicated concerning lab results to me - clean facility CONs: - everything mentioned above - you will have to wait a long time to get a hold of someone on the phone - if your call is transferred, you will be waiting again - it takes a long time to settle disputes about charges (they probably won't get settled) - I had to call multiple times and beg for my patient portal to be set up - provider satisfaction surveys on website are from 2018; no one has asked me about my experience to date read more

Long wait for drug screen. Should not have to wait over an hour when you need to use the restroom. Staff unprofessional talking and joking with friends/family that walk in to see them. If it wasn't required I would not come here. Also one of the staff I am assuming a MA or Nurse informed me that drinking water will dilute my urine and I would probably have to come back and repeat! I have never ever in my nursing life ever heard of this so hey all you drug users apparently plain old water is the cure all for passing drug screens, also I had to wash hands after test and she was standing there, I said excuse me and she didn't move, Really... really lady.....Get A Life and some Professionalism to go with it. I have been here several times. I try to make an appointment because especially during the busy seasons, the wait time can be a little long. I have seen several providers there all have been great. I try to see Ms. Hawley. She has been an excellent provider and has addressed every concern I have presented. I don't think it is fair to have one bad experience somewhere and then review them with one star. This place is a complete waste of time. I suggest going anywhere else but any of these medical offices. Never truthful with how much an appointment is. The people working there always refer to themselves as 'just as qualified' as ______ fill in the blank: doctor, nurse, Urologist. They are NOT! Seriously regret going. First time there for a physical and told the doctor to please not mention my diabetes, I already have another doctor for that. He said ok but proceeded to talk diabetes anyway. Everything he said to me was nothing I didn't already known. Result? $300 dollars added to my already high bill because (as the insurance stated) he mentioned diabetes. My husband gets his blood test because he takes coumadin for his blood and he needs to get lab every 2 -3 weeks. He came there and asked to get blood test. lady on front desk was rude, she sent him to the lab. Lady in the lab said that she needs his order for blood test. My husband asked lab's fax # for sending the order from his doctor, but lady said that they cant help him, because this is private hospital and sent him to look for another hospitals. He did not have time to look for any hospitals because he needed to go. My husband was truck driver. Next day he called me and said he has some problem with his heart. After few days he came home and check get his blood test. Result was very bad - 9 ( normal is 2.5 -3.5). !!!!! My husband's doctor was shocked, she said that we are lucky that my husband still alive. My experiences with Wilmington Health has been nothing but positive. I have been seeing Dr. Gallagher and PA Catherine Hawley for going on a year. Was there yesterday and arrived 10 minutes before my appointment. I was taken back before my scheduled time, was seen by the nurse, had labs done and got results from Catherine before I left 40 minutes later. I like the staff and know sometimes one patient takes longer than another as I have been that patient. Catherine always asks me before I leave if there is anything else I want to talk about. Maybe some of the complainers just hit a bad day when there were several patients who needed a little extra time. I would suggest giving them a second try. read more

I have been to this establishment several times with different reviews. Within the last year or so, they have a new location, which I have been to 1 1/2 times (will explain). First time for a laceration on my thumb, which severed the nerve and needed stitches. Saw Dr. Clark and was VERY please with the courtesy, promptness and level of professionalism. So, when my son had a playing accident and hurt his shoulder (has already fractured his clavicle recently), we figured we would try it. We got there just after 7:30 and they close at 8pm. I REFUSE to go to onslow memorial and really didn't want to have to drive to New Hanover. The Dr. on call basically refused to even look at him or bring him back because he didn't want to be late getting home. He sent 3 different staff members out making excuses, telling them what to tell us in the waiting room from LITERALLY right around the corner...but would not speak with us. I plan to find out who he answers to and address this because it was absolutely uncalled for. Will not be back! read more

This place has moved, but it seems to be the same personnel. I go here every year for an OSHA physical. Catherine Hawley, was the PA this year. Though I show up 15 minutes early as requested with all of my paperwork completed, I wait one full hour beyond my appointment time before I see the PA. Keep in mind I have already had all the blood work, etc done the week prior and was waiting for what is essentially a 15 minute appointment. About 45 minutes past my appointment time I ask if I could get an ETA. "Wait a second I'll ask", says the receptionist. A few minutes later I'm ushered into a room with no medical equipment where I wait another 15 minutes. A lady takes my temperature and my blood pressure even though all of my vitals were collected the week prior. This was obviously them attempting to placate someone who they assume to be very stupid by pretending to provide some kind of service. What really ticked me off enough to write this review is that the entire time, not one person acknowledged much less apologized for having me wait such a ridiculous amount of time. I have a feeling this is pretty normal for them, as another very frustrated patient was complaining to me in the waiting room. I was at least expecting Catherine to say "sorry for your wait" something, anything! Nope, just a general smugness. If I respect your time enough to show up 15 minutes early for my appointment (as you request) then you should respect my time enough to see me punctually, or if not, at least acknowledge the fact that my time may have some value. I won't be coming back for my annual physical next year. Neither will my crew of six. read more

Wow! That was interesting... First I overhead them realizing that they forgot I was in the room, "Oh shit, he's still in there!" They tried to get me out the door without doing a vision screening which was one of my main concerns. After doing the screening the tech told me I could leave. This was after I peed in a cup, had blood drawn, and the vision screening all with no follow up conversation. I asked what was the next step for me and she said I needed to schedule a physical but still did not address anything that I was in the office for in the first place. I had to ask about my vision test and she said I might want to get them checked. I asked if I should I be worried that this vision loss has happened so suddenly and she looked at the doctor who was nodding her head. I guess it's good I asked. I then asked about my lab results and she said that my urine came back ok (this was happening around a group of other people) but my blood would be back later. It was unprofessional, disorganized, and did nothing to make me feel like my health was in good hands. Be careful going here! read more

I have had good service from Wilmington Health, PA Hawley has been great. But my last visit may lead to change providers. Dr. Hawley and the rest of the staff have been wonderful. Because of the service I have been provided I decided to use Wilmington Health for my orthopedic care instead of making the hour drive to Wilmington from Jacksonville. I use the Jacksonville office of Wilmington Health. On the last visit 1/14/13 I was supposed to meet with Dr Colquhoun, when I called for an appointment I informed them that I had multiple ailments to address. I have a shoulder that has serve pain and limited movement, an elbow that cause so much pain that after strenuous use I unable to move my arm without a lot of pain for the rest of the day and a knee when my weight is applied I am unable to bend it to 90 degs or more. I also mentioned my problems with carpel tunnel in my left hand and left knee problems (yes I am falling apart). I inform the receptionist that I only need my right shoulder, elbow and knee examined at this time. Very courteous staff, upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly staff and asked to wait. 45 minutes after my appointment and about an hour after my arrival I was called by a nurse and asked which ONE of the problems did I want the Dr to look at? I made an appointment to get all looked at and was not informed that this was not possible, the woman who took my appointment and I joked about how bad my body was. So after an hour wait the Dr wants me to choose what part of my body I would like him to look at. As a college instructor it is hard for me to take time off of work and it is real hard for me to stand on a bad knee all day and even harder for me to write on the whiteboard and he wants me to choose. Why did they bother to take my information if they were not going to look at all of my problems? A lot of time could have been saved if I was told that they were not going to examine all my all problems I would have gone to Cape Fear Sport Medicine, even after the Dr knew of the error he did not care so now I am making an appointment to Cape Fear Sport Medicine where they most helpful and are patient oriented, see what I get to try and save an hour drive.
