Our Women's Group went to Wilson's Saturday Breakfast Brunch to celebrate Galentine's Day and my birthday. The brunch buffet had a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch items that did not disappoint. The restaurant is nicely decorated with striking Black art displayed throughout the space. The live DJ Malcolm Hill got the dance party started with his great humor and birthday shoutouts. He opened up the dance floor and had everyone out of their seats having a great time! Our girls' group will definitely keep Wilson's as a go-to spot for great food, drinks, music, and entertainment!!! read more

Let me just say One thing.... The place is Amazing.... Food IS DELICIOUS!! You'll find that you're having a tough time to Narrow down your choice of food!! The only item that we did not enjoy, was the Korean breaded shrimp with the garlic Parmesan and the sweet Thai chili sauce had way too much breading and came out cold. The food, ambiance and service was on point BUT the peach cobbler, which is normally home made was horrible. Drove 1.5 hr and brought friends especially to try the cobbler and was embarrassed and disappointed to have them taste last night's store bought tasteless pie. What a difference!!! Revisited this establishment and I must say service has gotten soooo much better! They seem to have pared down the menu which has probably helped tremendously. But there are definitely enough choices for everyone. And the food and vibes are still great! I did notice that for our party of 5 an auto 20% gratuity was added which we were unaware of, but Phil provided great service so it was more than deserved. I went to this spot to meet friends and I was not disappointed. The place is super cute, the staff was friendly and the food/drinks did not disappoint. I ordered the fried salmon and grits very flavorful, one of my friends had the grilled salmon and grits, they enjoyed. My other friends had the chicken and waffles which they didn't like. The chicken pieces are "wing dings" and not whole pieces of chicken like most places who serve chicken and waffle's and it wasn't flavorful. However, she has been before for dinner and said the food was delicious she just wouldn't order the chicken and waffles again for brunch. The cocktails were amazing. I'm a Tequila Gal and had the limoncello margarita... highly recommend. I was buzzed off the first drink, we also had the VIP which my friend enjoyed who likes cognac. The DJ played all the RB classics and got the bday folks straight for dancing. I will be back! they do have comedy shows, jazz nights and other events. The two of us questioned the amount of the bill. The waitress and manager did not explain that they had added an auto tip of 20% to our bill. Instead, the manager, with a security guard, didn't answer our question and asked us to leave. The bill shows a subtotal called Amount. Below that is an Additional Tip line. Below that is a Tip line. Finally there is a Total line. I believe the reason management didn't explain about the auto tip is either 1 they wanted us to leave another tip on top of the Amount or 2 we were being singled out with the auto tip. Either way the matter was not handled properly. We will never go there again. I suggest anyone going there look very closely at their bill before leaving a tip. read more

I had such an amazing 60th birthday celebration at Wilson's! Everything went well! Behind the scenes Ms. Barbara organized the event for me. I had continuous email communications with her. She responded to any changes I needed to make immediately. She gave us detailed billing so no one was confused at the end of the night. The food was delicious. Chefs kiss! All of my guests enjoyed what they were served. Unfortunately I don't remember my server name but she was patient with all of our drink orders. Our food came out immediately thanks to Ms. Barbara suggestion to pre-order in advance. I've gone to Wilson's multiple times before my birthday celebration and I must admit I was worried because of some mishaps I experienced in the past. But on Saturday, March 28th. nothing went wrong. It was easy to download multiple tickets. The host at the door seated us immediately. If you're looking for somewhere where you don't need to do anything but show up Wilson's is the place to go! Wilson's seems to have gone down since our last visit. We were there Fri. 11/21 for a show. The service was poor, our drinks came out 1/2 hour after the order despite our appetizers being ordered as soon as we were seated they came out the same time as dinner leaving little room. The waitress was soo overwhelmed, she rolled her eyes & snapped at another employee who asked her about something ducking her teeth in front of us, she never returned to check on our table. Wait it gets worse...one person in our party of four was never served, so they comped us his meal at the end of the night. We all shred our meal with him. The owner walks around flirting with the ladies and wad tipsy as ever. He asked us ladies how we were doing so We told him about our experience his response was " Would y'all expect excellence at a White establishment"? (A totally ignorant response). Needles to say, we're not returning, we will tell our circle about our experience and advise the unsuspecting public to take their hard earned money to a better ran Black establishment. For a date night, we chose Wilson Restaurant, a new spot for us. The food quality was average and the temperature was cold. The bartender seemed inexperienced in crafting a Shirley Temple. On the positive side, the lemon and pepper wings were delicious, whereas the Caesar salad was just okay - I've had a better Caesar salad from Louis. The sangria had a harsh, cheap wine taste, which was underwhelming for someone who appreciates and collects wine. The interior of the restaurant was welcoming and showcased beautiful artwork. Nonetheless, the addition of a 20% fee to our bill for a two-person meal was puzzling. Given the experience, our next visit will likely involve sitting at the bar, where we can enjoy the music - we missed out on jazz tonight as it was R&B night. I ended up discussing my concerns with Manager Aynna. The waiters said that they don't have Happy Hour. I even wanted to change the pasta sauce and the waiters said no they don't change the sauce. She didn't even go ask. Family and friends told me that we need to try their brunch. It's different it all you can eat. The chef needs to be able to accommodate every taste buds. We heard about this venue and wanted to give it a try. Went there for a girls' get-together for Brunch, seated at 2:25 pm, but the food didn't come out until 3:50 pm. The vibe was nice, with a great DJ, and people were up to dancing and having a good time. The service was horrible, and I had to wait a long time for my food. Friends said fish and grits came out hot, but French toast came out tepid with cold butter. No orders came out correctly; despite this, we were still friendly and cordial, but then the server started to develop an attitude. Soon, she started ignoring us and wanted to line dance instead. Got the bill, and had to wait for 30+ minutes for her to come back, after we enquired. Nice vibe entertainment, but we won't be back. I would give 1 star but the DJ and "hype man" made the vibe pleasant. read more

The glaze sauce that was on it (believe it was a teriyaki) had good flavor. My shrimp and grits were just meh. The grits were a little cold, but my shrimp was decent. The drinks we ordered were good. Rum punch/LIT. There was nothing overwhelming great and underwhelmingly bad. They do include an automatic 20% tip no matter the party size just fyi. I was skeptical about this venue due to the many bad reviews but we were there today and it was a great time for all. We were a large group and had our own personal server. Drinks were very good and the food was great too! I had the shrimp appetizer and there were 6 jumbo shrimp. I could only eat one and also ate one of my husbands wings. They were delicious too! For my entree, I had the fried lobster and grits. The grits were amazing; I thought I would need extra butter or salt but they didn't need anything. Service was fast and our server was very attentive. I ended up bringing some of that home too. Then there's the music! The DJ was great and made sure to call out the birthday peeps multiple times, including "shine a light " and other birthday songs. Recently, I visited this establishment for a Saturday brunch. Food was amazing and in abundance! Ambiance very nice, clean and bright. Music and guest comedian host fantastic! Service is concerning. My waitress was friendly but slow in cleaning up our table and delivering drinks. Hard to get additional food with dinner dishes in your face. We had to ask several times. Only one bartender on staff which made receiving your cocktails slow. The hostess and owner was present. The hostess was phenomenal as for owner she was very standoffish. Did not give a kind vibe, never gave a warm smile. I felt since the waitresses were slow or shorthanded they could have help remove dishes. Step up! Very nice venue to dine and listen to live music. The crowd are generally mature adults of which I'm sure is the targeted audience. Wilson's is spacious with a large performance stage, it's simple but nicely decorated. The staff overall is efficient moving with ease between the tables, the bar and kitchen. I was surprised the food is fairly decent not great but slightly better than average. The oxtail soup was delicious while my husband enjoyed the wings. For the price I found the short rib portion small but my catfish platter generous. Both were enjoyable and served hot. My Long Island ice tea was worth the standard price of $13. The only concern is how close the tables are to other parties, traditional old school 'supper club' connected tables. For me with or without COVID it's too close for me! Would I return? My cousin took me here tonight for music, dinner and drinks. This place did not disappoint. Very nice ambiance. The staff was great. I ordered a rasberry lemon drop martini So delicious. And it made me feel so good. :-) I ordered the cheesesteak potstickers. They were good. Not great. Needed more of the cheesesteak flavor. There are no vegetables inside of them. And i didn't taste any cheese. I ordered the Cajun Chicken and shrimp jambalaya. That was mouth watering good. Sausage had just enough spice that flowed throughout the whole dish. The fettuccine was creamy The chicken was so tasty and the jumbo shrimp was divine. And we add music to this and yes a good time was had by all. I will be back the next time I'm in town. read more

I was told about this establishment by a coworker and she really enjoyed her time there. Surprisingly my daughter got tickets to go to the comedy show for my birthday. I was so excited until we got to the door. Two gentleman standing as security said we couldn't come in because the guys had on what they deemed to be sneakers. My dad had on Skechers slip on (for peek sake he's 73 years old) my boyfriend had on Italian Maison Margiela's casual shoe-type $500 shoe. So because my daughter had paid for each of us to see a show we decided to stay. I got my dad sandals from the car. My boyfriend had to go to Walmart to purchase a cheap ass shoe to get into this establishment. I was confused because I thought the dress code was grown and sexy. Meanwhile everyone in the establishment working and performing has on fricking sneakers. The food and drinks: it was so cold in there we ordered hot teas to start. Took them 30 mins maybe more to bring them. The waitress said she had to put on a pot of water. Why isn't there a hot water dispenser for coffee or tea? We also ordered drinks which were good, no complaints there. It took about an hour and a half to get our food. I ordered the catfish dinner it came with black-eye pea jambalaya and collard greens. The peas were not cooked all the way they were really firm, and the both were cold the greens and jambalaya, and the fish was hot. My dad enjoyed his short rib, it was tender. Our waitress was nice, not sure why our orders took so long that reinforcement was needed. The comedy show: the comedic acts were really good and kept us laughing. Really lightened the mood cause I was definitely irritated by the security guy at the door. I hope he puts the same energy in there if anything ever happened and security was needed. Note to management: Just say dress shoes so that people already know what's expected and not have to be running to a store to buy something else. I went to The Pre New Year's party and felt very disappointed. I arrived early and was told to wait in my car til 9:30 pm to enter. That was a lie. They had us lined up outside in the cold til after 10pm. They allowed people to just walk in and bypass the line and my I add some folks were seating inside at 9:45pm. I was here for an DJ event, the service was horrible it was as if this place did not plan accordingly to service the event properly. You could not get drinks at the bar only through servers. It took a very long time to get our order. The servers were dropping off random plates that didn't belong to us and tried to charge us for it. It was totally unorganized. We arrived as the 1st guest as a group of 8. We were escorted to our tables by a hostess who looked angry most of the time. Our waiter, James, was polite and courteous towards our party. The DJ played a great selection of R&B of music. The karaoke was fun to watch. The dysfunction began when we decided to order our dinner. To make a very long story short...after an hour and a half we started receiving our meals. Two people received dishes that they did not order. After waiting another 30 minutes, My husband's order of coffee and red velvet cake was not available. He then ordered Bread pudding, yet received Peach cobbler. Our friend ordered a dish and received the wrong dish, but he was hungry and ate it anyway. The waiter then approached him with his original order. The dishes were all pretty much room temperature except the peach cobbler. I ordered a dry dirty martini which was mixed with sweet vermouth. Not good. I told the waiter that it was not made correctly he promptly told me I was wrong etc. etc etc. The venue was clean and nicely decorated. In my opinion, the food service should be discussed with the management. Server(s) need be trained. The kitchen staff needs further training as well. On May 18th, 2022, my family brought me to this place for dinner to celebrate my graduation. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised because I never knew this place existed, and its in Hi-Nella (of all places) which is like a blip on the map you could blink and drive through it. There's ample parking in the private lot. Once I had walked inside I immediately noticed that the decor looks new or it's seen good upkeep over the years (not sure when this place 1st opened). The walls are covered in art and sculptures that evoke a feeling of Harlem Renaissance X bluesy jazz scene for the well-dressed, high class kin folk. Our group of 12 had reserved seating which was made up of fours tables or so, set side by side long the right edge of the dance floor. Nice comfy seats The DJ was great! He had a good mix of classics to keep people interested and dancing - for those brave enough to do so. There was a live performance from the man depicted who sounded like a lot like Otis Redding X James Brown - he has a BEAUTIFUL rich sound in his voice tonation. I enjoyed his show very much -- so much so that I was compelled to ask for a pic with him and my sister. The food was allllll good. I ordered the duck and it was so succulent - or should I say "duckulent " LOL - that I ate the ends off the bone. Five finger licking um um good! The bartenders held it down. All 4-5 ten eleven drinks I had were on point. My only criticisms are that: 1) the toilets had no pressure so I had to flush 2-3 times just to get down just pee and light TP. 2) Also, the DJ speakers were so loud that I couldn't talk to the person next to me without yelling. read more

I did not have not one complaint about my first visit to this beautiful venue. I went on a Wednesday evening which has a Wine Up Wednesday theme (i like it). I did not have a reservation but thankfully my niece and I arrived at a time where they had a table available so we did not have to sit in the bar area. We had the $10 per person cover charge at the door (you buy tickets in advance on the website) and upon walking in we were greeted with a smile. I stated we did not have a reservation and offered the bar or a table and I asked for a table. We were seated near the stage and music was being played by the DJ. I'm happy already. It's a grown and sexy environment so come dressed (if you are not sure what to wear, check out their website for the dress code). It was still happy hour when we arrived so we both ordered a Pineapple martini (yum). I was hungry so I ordered an appetizer of deviled eggs with crispy chicken and cheesesteak egg rolls. Both were delicious. For my entree I ordered the Oxtail Grilled Cheese. I like oxtails and I love grilled cheese so it was a win-win for me. It came with sweet potatoes fries and a bowl of gravy to dip your sandwich in. I must have missed it on the menu but the sandwich includes horseradish so if you don't like your food to have a kick, then do not order this sandwich. I enjoyed it but my niece who does not like horseradish did not. However, our lovely and attentive server took the sandwich away and allowed my niece to order someone else on the menu. She went with the Old Bay Chicken Wings and was happy. I tried one of her wings and I will be ordering that during my next visit (yes, I am going back but on a Saturday). The entertainment was exactly what I enjoy. It was a mixture of a live singer who covers many old school R&B songs and the DJ playing a mix of old and some fairly recent music. When those line dance song came on though, that was it. I jumped out of my seat and was on the dance floor (there is a space in front of the stage flanked by tables) along with some other diners. A friend and I had been planning to have brunch here for quite some time. We finally got the opportunity to do brunch or so we thought. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we waited in line for the doors to open. Once inside there is large older guy at the door with a wand. He proceeded to wand everyone. As he approached me, he asked to look inside my purse. He asked what the "heavy" item was. I advised it was a weapon and I am a law enforcement officer. As an officer I carry for safety purposes. I even showed additional identification to back-up my stance. The guy says, "you cant bring a gun in here." I repeated once again that I was a law enforcement officer. He stated again, "no weapons" inside. I turned to my friend and said, "we aren't eating here." The area where this place is located isn't in the nicest part of South Jersey and I definitely didn't trust anyone in that place to protect patrons should anything happen there. So, needless to say, I won't ever be dining at Wilson's and will advise my fellow LEOs to stay away. read more

I visited here for dinner and live jazz on a Friday night. We enjoyed everything about our experience...the food, staff, entertainment, and ambiance were excellent. There are no bad seats; every seat from the table to the bar area gives u a good view of the stage. A very nice size dance floor. I'm already annoyed they claim to be a grown and sexy adult place and we're STANDING outside until 6:24 Well once inside yes it's really chic! I can't enjoy it because certain people who were let in and with large parties were taken out of the line; so we're waiting our stage side reservation was obviously given away bc We weren't let in when the doors opened at 6. We were seated at a bar table top then moved to another table close to the stage(my mood was getting better). We're seated; receiving strange looks from the tables on both sides. We initially ignored this and then realized we were seated in the middle of a LARGE party of people sho came together‍. We knew this because they we're having conversations with each other across our table. RUDE and terrible on the hostess part for that seating arrangement. The music was great the food not so much. It was over priced. The tables next to us with crab cakes and red snapper replied to each other it wasn't the best. I took that cue as to order Cesar salad and sweet potato fries. My fries were fabulous and well seasoned. The waitress was the nicest person and she is the reason for two stars. At the end of the set everyone was welcomed to stay free until 11 except the men they'd pay $10. Wee decided to stay once we ordered more drinks we were kicked out of our seats and told to move to the back of the restaurant near the bar. That was different for me; moving with all my things and a drink to the other part of the restaurant. The final thing for me once we moved and settled to the back finally able to talk without people talking over us; another worker who I haven't seen all night tells me to poor my drink into a plastic cup after I've already paid $17 for a passion fruit margarita(it was awesome) with 1800. I had the EXACT same experience that Tiki C had on January 3rd on my visit on 12/14/24. We were a party of 50 with a reservation made three months in advance where we had to pre-select our meal. I thought it was just a bad night for them, but now I see it's the norm from reading other reviews. I was in communication with Mrs. Wilson, who after offering a partial refund for my bad experience and for overcharging me, but I never heard back from her. No partial refund. No reply. Very upsetting as I want our black owned establishments to do well. Here are some things to be weary of when visiting Wilson. Entertainment is great but: -don't go hungry-manager on duty is impersonal-food will not come out at the same time as your party-they will make substitution w/o informing you-you may be overcharged-your food may not be hot. read more
