I had the EXACT same experience that Tiki C had on January 3rd on my visit on 12/14/24. We were a party of 50 with a reservation made three months in advance where we had to pre-select our meal. I thought it was just a bad night for them, but now I see it's the norm from reading other reviews. I was in communication with Mrs. Wilson, who after offering a partial refund for my bad experience and for overcharging me, but I never heard back from her. No partial refund. No reply. Very upsetting as I want our black owned establishments to do well. Here are some things to be weary of when visiting Wilson. So the biggest sticking points about our experience at Wilson's R&B Brunch this past Sunday. 1. Being greeted with security requesting to "wand" the group (ie mobile metal detector), and search our bags. 2. Being told (when we were sat) that our reservation was for two hours, and after two hours, we would be asked to leave. 3. It taking 15 minutes after the hostess informed us of the time limit before server approached the table. 4. Having to share two menus between seven people. 5. Offering drink towers, but extreme ambiguity regarding pricing of the towers. 6. Not serving real Malibu in aforementioned rum punch tower. 7. Ignoring request for salt, pepper, and hot sauce for our appetizers. 8. After second request for hot sauce, being told that they RAN OUT OF HOT SAUCE. On a Sunday - at Brunch - in a Black owned establishment. 9. Never receiving salt and pepper. 10. Entrées coming out at different times. 11. Having to request missing items long after food was finished. 12. Never receiving our bacon. 13. Playing hip hop 90% of time at a "R&B Brunch". 14. 20% automatic gratuity for substandard service. We had an amazing Brunch at Wilson's . The music , atmosphere and waitress were wonderful. I have waited a long time for an establishment like this. The drink tower was great. We ordered two for my birthday. The food needs a lot of help. It was served cold 30 minutes before we were being asked to leave before the next event. The table next to us never received their food. It was sad. The event was from 2-4. So imagine waiting two hours for your food. Many plates were sent back because the food was below average. I had Belgian waffles and bacon. I played it safe. This is my 2nd bad experience at this place. I got there about 20 minutes past my reservation last time and they told me I had to sit at the bar I don't drink alcohol so I and my wife left with no refund for the cover charge. The last night I went for the New Year's extravaganza which day charged $100 per person And you had to pay as soon as you order your tickets online We sat down at 8:15 PM and did not receive our food until after the New Year's I promise you I am not lying. If you know anybody that was there last night just call them and ask them they will verify everything I'm saying they do you terribly if you're late then when you're on time they are 4 hours late with your mail we were sitting there starving couldn't even enjoy ourselves you can't leave and go somewhere else because they already have your money This was a terrible experience and I will not be returning. read more

After visiting Wilson's when they first opened, I decided to give them a second try Saturday evening. My husband and I went to the 6:30 seating with another couple. We were seated by a pleasant hostess in a nice booth on arrival. We ordered cocktails and appetizers and didn't have to wait an eternity for them to arrive. The speed of service definitely has improved compared to my first visit. The chicken wing appetizer is no longer fried and was okay. We also had the baby back rib fingers that my friends simply loved. The guys had dirty martinis and they said they were a perfect mix. I opted for a glass of Chardonnay since I'm big white wine drinker. The wine was AWFUL!! Absolutely, no improvement from my first visit. I have no idea why the owners would put so much money in making this beautiful establishment and sell you this cheap, vinegary tasting wine. On my first visit I had a conversation with the owner about purchasing a reasonably priced decent Chardonnay. I'm no sommelier but I could pick nice low end red and white wines. My girlfriend and I took a few sips and pushed the glasses aside. So much for the wine lol. The entrees were prepared much better than on my first visit. I was told there is a different chef in the kitchen. I had the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was pretty good just a little too much gravy for my taste. My husband had the salmon with risotto and spinach. He said it was pretty good. My girlfriend had the catfish, greens and jambalaya. She said the catfish was heavily breaded and had a mushy, creamy taste. Her husband also had the braised short ribs and enjoyed them. The place is still very nice, chic and clean. Improvements have definitely been made in the kitchen with a new chef and speed of service by the wait staff. The bartenders were even more expedient with preparing drinks. The night's entertainment was mediocre and the wine was an insult. Also, on hot humid nights the air conditioning needs to be turned up. I was sweating while sitting and almost passed out on the dance floor. Attention to details is so important. It is for these reasons that I can only give a rating of "3". read more

Discovered Wilson's by chance while looking for an evening out with live music. Came across the Roy Richardson Jr. show on Eventbrite and this was the venue. The show was excellent and fun. The space was lovely and the service was great. The food however was another story. Chef Melly is apparently a draw for the place and popular enough to be advertised as a draw for Bruch but, our meals were Not delicious. The catfish was cooked hard enough and had no seasoning . The jambalaya rice didn't taste anything like jambalaya and was dry and overcooked. The salmon eggs rolls were just ok. The frozen/ not hand made margarita pizza was the saving grace for the entire dinning experience. Also I didn't appreciate the 20% gratuity being included in my bill. Not to mention, I ordered Chicken and Waffles with side of eggs. Well the eggs came out, the waiter took the Chicken and Waffle to another table and my order came out 10 minutes later with the replacement cold eggs. The prices at Wilson rival some 5 star establishments where the quality of food and service are leaps and bounds beyond what me and my family experienced. Being a black establishment doesn't exclude you from top notch services, especially when you boast hi prices. For brunch 112.61 without drinks. I'll pay for a meal regardless of price. However, poor food, service... Wilson please do better. Y'all ambience is nice though, provided if you're going to a club. I was looking for a good restaurant. We were there on a Sunday @ 5. The restaurant is very nice and clean. It has a warm atmosphere. As with alot of restaurants, the tables are very close together and leave little room for intimate, private conversations. The music is awesome and the host is engaging. There is a very limited Dinner menu and not alot of Entrees to choose from. I ordered the Old Bay wings, and they were really good. How are you going to be a black establishment and serve thick, cold, grits with no salt/pepper?? Waffles were soft AH and the Spanish waitres said they didn't have butter....she said it to about 3 of us at different times. .....and to top it off, there was no air or it was not blasting.... you know we need air. $55 for 6 shrimp, nasty grits, 1 watery $15 drink....and no water refill without asking 4 times. Wilson's can improve on their menu they expect you to order an appetizer or something off the menu when some people cannot eat seafood and have gluten allergy I had to order a huge salad which was thrown on a plate that was not good at all please offer gluten options if they expect you to order something. read more

I had been trying to get here for a while. I finally made it & the food was good. Although I didn't like that we had to select from a pre fixe menu & there was no mention of that on the website. I had the oxtail egg rolls, red snapper filet entrée & a slice of red velvet cake. All were very tasty. They had a jazz band there that wasn't good at all. The hostess was not the friendliest. It's like she had an attitude to be there. Waitresses were not that much better. They weren't that attentive and I believe a waitress's demeanor should be more pleasant. Maybe if she worked for her tips she would've been nicer. (Tips included in the check). The food: The oysters need to be taken off the menu. They were super tiny so you couldn't really get a good feel on the taste. They were both laughable and frustrating. Take them off. The snapper was okay. Shrimp just okay. I've been to New Orleans and Wilson's version of etouffee is not it. Salmon egg rolls not good. My brother in law enjoyed his salmon dish. The cornbread was really good although there were some pieces of mushiness. But very good nonetheless. The menu had great ideas, but it seems they could not execute them all properly. Maybe because I'm comparing to NO bc it's set up like a NO menu. But incomparable. The drinks were the best thing about this place. They have really good mixed drinks. The atmosphere was decent. Took my family out yesterday evening to celebrate my mothers birthday and overall let me start by saying I was not throughly impressed. I saw this place on tik tok and was really excited to try a few of the dishes I had seen in previous reviews but literally nothing I was interested in trying was available, therefore don't get your hopes up high because I believe they roll out seasonal menus that rotate (I'm assuming), so I just went with the flow. The drinks were really good, as I tried the pineapple lemon drop and was not disappointed at all. The cornbread was weird af if you ask me, it had pieces of corn in it (which I don't mind) but the pecans threw me off completely (and I actually like pecans). For my meal I had the shrimp and grits which was very salty in my opinion but nonetheless tasty. I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed their meals. We came on comedy night which had a total of (4) acts and everyone made me laugh so mission accomplished. If I had to give a few cons on my visit, it would be that the staff was very inconsistent--some were pleasant and others were very rude. The establishment prides themselves at being "upscale" and honestly I think it's a BIG reach. They have a strict policy about shoe wear but the staff wears sneakers. They literally turned my stepdad away to go to Walmart to buy some cheap ass cop shoes in place of his Italian made shoes that cost well over $500... Like really? After driving an hour, not even greeted with a hello at the door and the first thing that comes out their mouth was "Sorry, I can't let you in with those." I was pissed. It was freezing, and the upscale establishment does not provide shaws for the ladies (disclaimer) so I ordered a hot tea to warm me up--The darn tea took at least 30 minutes to come out and the food took an hour and a half--I'm confused. Like I literally wish I could've been a fly on the wall in the kitchen cause w t f are y'all doing?! Last but not least, the lemon pound cake was horrible...Idk who made it but please chill out in the extract as I could almost breathe it, that's how potent it was. I had a chance to stop in for a Jazz brunch here this weekend. Place has a nice Vibe cute setup , and the food was good. Service was gal so pretty good. This was a buffet style brunch so there was a variety of food on a pre set price and menu. $35 PP came with a Mimosa. Thy had SWaI fish , fried chicken wings , shrimp and grits , eggs with cheese , home fries , beef bacon, waffles and turkey bacon. The food was great. Seasoned well , crispy fish and chicken. The music was nice , but the band was not that great. Was a band I wasn't familiar with so took a chance and unfortunately was not impressed with the music. Firstly, it wasn't Jazz. Just because you slow a song down, Doesn't make it Jazz ! They tried but it was just a really LOW Energy band ! I would have preferred they kept the DJ that was playing when I got there. But non the less I can tell this could be a really good time with the right band and music ! I'll try another event in the future. Didn't get any good pics tho! read more

I was here last night with a party of 7, it was my friends 70th birthday. We all had a horrible experience. My friends vehicle was towed, the vehicle was properly parked. He had got there early and was sitting in his vehicle until the establishment opened. When the other members arrived we all entered together. After about ten minutes in the establishment an announcement was made for two vehicles to be moved. Note, the vehicles were parked legally. My friend and myself walk out together, we noticed my friends vehicle had been towed . The manager stated his car was towed because it appeared suspicious and several announcements were made previously before the establishment was open. What's odd is no announcement was made when the business was open. The next morning I took my friend to the towing company the bill was $253.00. It clearly was a mistake but no offer to compensate was offered just an apology. read more

The waitresses were kind and nice. The Door Greeter is consistently polite and accommodating. The performances are always entertaining and the food is beyond good. The Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya​ is incredibly good. I've only had that and the chicken. So I recommend those two. You won't regret it. read more

The service was HORRIBLE!! I Waited an hour for a peach mimosa tower, and ended up receiving a mango margarita tower. I then made mention to my waitress, who took over an hour to even address my table, only for it to take another 20 minutes to get the tower I ordered. The food came out cold, and one order was incorrect. When it was time for the bill, a drink I never received was on there and then they had the audacity to Charlene me full price for the tower that we didnt even drink HALF of! When we asked for management, we were told they were too busy to come over to our table. They took off the drink we didn't receive, but left the 75% mimosa tower on the bill...only offering 25%off. The food was just okay the music was great and the waitress was great. The problem I had was it was a 1 drink and 1 food item from the menu requirement which we knew. 6pm-9pm. After my husband and I paid $230 + a $60 tip. 4 drinks 3 appetizers and 3 entrees ( just tasting the entrees) as well as supporting the establishment. They said we were going to have to pay again after 9. It wasn't that we couldn't afford it but we paid way more and you would have thought they would have said you are good and you don't need to pay to stay a little longer. The last 2 times I have visited Wilsons I had an exceptional experience with service, food and entertainment. This most recent experience, not so Much. It stated with the inability to contact the Resturant to ask a question about an event. There is no phone number and so I had to contact the Resturant via social media. Luckily the person responding via messenger was prompt but unfortunately the person was unaware of the details on a flyer which was listed on the restaurants site. When we arrived for our reservation we encountered a host with blonde hair who was not the most welcoming. Again, in the past I have had very good service at Wilson's. The owner came to check on us the first time I visited the location. I am not expecting that every time but the host and waiter should provide great service and saying hello or smiling is not alot to ask for service. I'm hoping this experience was a one off and the host and waiter are coached. The Resturant offers a very nice environment and good crowd. It would be sad if service does not improve. read more

My husband gave me a milestone bday surprise this time last February. We had a private room set fir about 60 family and friends. Flat screen tv to view and hear the music. It was a wonderful time had by all and the live jazz music and food was extra cherry on top of my surprise ! They had all the bday people come out and did a soul train line song and dance celebrating all of us. Which was also a special touch to my evening. Didn't like the extra charge and decline the service to cut my bday cake we brought in for my guess. Thank God we had cup cakes as an alternative to offer them. I Attempted to make eye contact with the bartenders who seemed more interested in socializing with patrons, waiting on people who ALREADY HAD DRINKS in front of them or checking their phones. When we brought the issue to the manager named "Yanni" she tried to make is see like we were lying. As if we drove 25 minutes to have a bad time. We went for the brunch. I got the House Hibachi steak and chicken was hard over cooked food was Lukewarm. Lobster was tender but didn't have any flavor. Service was horrible party of 6 .only gave us 4 menus then gave us 2 drink menus.
