I needed a small gym bag for the essentials: water, phone, keys, telemetry strap and iPod, but wanted something handmade or organic. I also wanted something that didn't look like a boring gym bag. I typed in organic gym bags and Bella Bags popped up. Boy am I glad it did! Can you say cute couture? These bags have some real sass and style; they're not your usual run of the mill blah bags. Bella Bags' sister website, begreenshopgreen.com sells the Organic Ts and shopping sacks, while Marcia takes care of the fashion! I'll admit, the web site's design is a bit simplistic, but where the website lacks, Marcia makes up for it with awesome quality and great products. There's no Bella Bags store yet, but Marcia told me that one is in the works. For now, you'll have to shop on the web or visit one of the stores that sells Bella Bags, like Candy-Plum in NY, Le Petit Garage in NJ or Berkshire Fine Handcrafts in MA. My bag came in 3 days after I ordered it and I was in love! It's the perfect size and so unique. I had some burning questions when I went back to the website, though. I e-mailed Marcia to inquire as to why the photo of my bag was no longer up. She got back to me right away; here's the transcript, you might find it helpful: "Hello Angela - First, I'm so glad you are happy with your gym bag! All of my bags are one-of-a kind, so once a bag is sold - the exact same bag (fabrics and layout) will not be made again ... that is why your particular bag has been removed from the items available for purchase. I completely understand your frustration when it comes to seeing something you want but being unable to purchase it! The pictures of the bags on the main page of the boutique are just an example of the styles - unfortunately, if I were to put pictures of bags that are currently available, I would have to change the picture daily or even several times a day as the bags sell! We have since sold the house but I come to Great Barrington about once a year or twice and I never leave without making a stop here. It remains the best shop in downtown GB, beautifully curated, with selection on par with what you might find in an upscale NYC boutique with a touch of rugged flair somewhere in the village. Their selection is unparalleled insofar as brands that are eco-friendly, with an eye for fashion forward style. Great selection of cashmere tops, Hobo wallets and bags, Free People brand, soft fleeces, boots, awesome selection of denim, and mostly recently I purchased a "Save the Duck" down alternative puffer coat that I couldn't be happier with. Plus, great men's selection! Love love love. Also, major points for being run by kind dog lovers. Lots of adorable doggy themed apparel to be found. Gotta check it out!

I have shopped at Glad Rags both times I was in Lenox while visiting the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. In late November, my husband and I accidentally left my winter coats (including one I just bought at Glad Rags) behind when we checked out of our rental unit. I called Glad Rags to ask for help and boy, did I get help!!!! Mercedes drove to our rental unit in a snowstorm to pick up my coats then boxed them up and shipped them to me, saving me a substantial amount of money since their rate was much less than I would have paid for a service to do the same. I was so grateful to receive my new coat in time for a wedding on December 6th! Also when I bought the coat, the owner and employee made sure that the minor alteration they suggested to move the snaps would indeed work and not cause any mark on the coat!
