Not Wimpy here. Huge crowd here on a Friday nite. We only came because of the great name and glad to support a local business. Lots of food options for an ice cream / coney joint. The girl taking orders was so nice & we just made the 830 cutoff for hot food. The 2 corn dog combo was a good value w/ tots & drink. Added jalapeño bites which my wife loved. My corn dogs were perfect w/ nice browned batted. Tots were pretty crunchy too but they forgot my drink & didn't realize til we were too far away. Place was clean & in nice shape. Wimpy's is a Grayling staple, definitely worth a visit. The ice cream selection is off the charts, they have hard and soft serve in a bunch of flavors. You can also get coney dogs, burgers or corn dogs and nachos. The staff is super friendly and they take cash or credit card. Plenty of places to eat outside in the shade of you want. read more

Great service there's almost always a big line that takes about 5-10 minutes. The ice cream was amazing worth the wait.

Ice cream/banana splits: 5 stars, no question. Lots of flavors to choose from, I sampled a little from everyone's cones and every flavor was great, lots of cone options, enormous scoops. Burgers: 3 stars. Cold buns, low on lettuce/tomato/pickles, generous but dry and gray burger. I finished it because I was hungry but would not order it again. The kids' chicken strips and wife's battered fish were much better. The tables and benches were a little sticky, but it's all outdoor seating and everyone is going to be eating a sticky ice cream of some kind. Here on vacation, I would be perfectly happy to get lunch/dinner somewhere else, but make a point of stopping here for an ice cream on a hot day. Quick thing while I'm remembering it - one of the earlier (and hidden) reviews from a few years ago referenced some unpleasant possibly political signs. How can anyone go to Grayling and not visit Wimpy's. They have a full menu but we only ordered ice cream. They have soft serve and Ashby's Sterling Ice Cream, made in Ludington, Michigan. I had a scoop of Sea Turtle ice cream and it was generous and delicious. We also had a large soft serve vanilla cone. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting with ample seating outside. read more

I always get good service at Wimpy's. It's a wonderful little place that's convenient to access, affordable, and offers tasty desserts. Someday when my sweet tooth is sated, I'll try the regular menu...but I see lots of people doing that...enough to draw the conclusion that it's also good. read more

They said they were out of sour creme so they offered us some cup ranch (trash). Nachos supreme were all chips and no supreme. They did give us extra mild salsa which was not good at all. 2nd time here and the same service. Go somewhere else. This place sucks. read more

I ordered two chili dogs to go the other day and she charged me $13, lol. I thought she made and honest mistake so I called back and nope, a single Chile dog is $7, are you freaking kidding me? Stopped here after a canoeing trip and it really was the cherry on top! Ordered an Oreo shake and it was so tasty and light - you could taste all ingredients starting with the milk, vanilla ice cream and Oreos. The shake was just right, not too rich and overpowering. Also ordered a coney dog to satisfy a craving and boy did it hit the spot. Before receiving it, I'd promised I'd share but after biting in to it, I didn't hehe. Great little mom and pop Ice cream shop. Treats are a little smaller than the big chain ice cream places, but they put alot more toppings in them. Prices are fair for what you get. This is our go to place for ice cream in the summer. read more

Needed a quick bite and we were starving! This place seems to be family owned and operated and they are very friendly and fast. Got 2 meals and realized we were undercharged, so we let the staff know. They treated us to a sundae for being honest about the undercharged food! I stumbled across this place while on a road trip home from a Labor Day gathering. I wanted ice cream and a burger from a local place for lunch to celebrate the end of summer and I definitely found the right place. The cheese fries were so hot and crispy I had to be careful. The burger was made fresh, and one of the juiciest and most perfectly cooked I've had in a long time. They have lots of ice cream options, and I went for the peanut butter & brownie hard ice cream. I come to Traverse City at least two or three times a year and always stop here both coming and going. They've got the best soft serve ice cream I've tasted anywhere - better than McDonalds, Burger King, or Dairy Queen. New Owners; they care about the ingredients they use. You know what's upsetting? Woke reviewers like "Rachel T" from Grayling below (aka Karen). With only one other yelp review, I suspect she owns or works for a competitor. Shame. I have been visiting Grayling most of my life and we have been enjoying Wimpy's for years. In recent years we have made it a summer destination to hit Wimpy's at least once for an ice cream. I read Rachel's review tonight when checking their business hours and I was shocked. So we went and I made a point of looking. There were some funny "signs", a pro military / America sign (we are 2 miles from Camp Grayling) and a 3 Stooges sign. Nothing remotely racist and the staff is very friendly. Ice cream is great, service with a smile and GREAT meals. Had their burger tonight and it was fantastic. Tried some of my their fried chicken that my daughter got and i will be getting that next time. Please check them out and take the Karen's of the world with a grain of salt. Wimpy's is a throwback destination worth checking out. read more

Wow. We were hungry and grouchy and found this place. Patient and friendly Sam took everyones order even with four boys hollering at the same time. This is an amazing ice cream and hamburger stand that is only open in the warm months. All of the food but especially the coney dogs and ice cream was really good. read more

Wimpy's is great. Always lived super close so I could pop in for a wizard anytime. Staff is usually high schoolers so they are always very friendly and considerate. 110% recommend over any other chain ice cream place. read more

fantastic!!! went to wimpys for the first time and had the best chicken dinner ever!!! would definately go there again and again!!
