We had the pleasure of stopping into the lovely restaurant in Kalkaska. We made the decision purely out of the fact that they had seating outside and we had our golden retriever with us. I don't think we could have picked a better Restaurant to have our dog with! We literally had no idea that this restaurants theme is dogs! Moose and Stella's is such a cute Restaurant! The dog decor is absolutely adorable! We were greeted warmly and told our dog was absolutely welcome and they brought her a big bowl of water and some biscuits! This is definitely a mom café with lots of delicious looking foods to choose from. I decided on the corned beef hash as it was mentioned that it was homemade and popular and we also chose blueberry pancakes as it came highly recommend recommended. My husband chose a skillet that had several types of meat and sausage, gravy and hashbrowns. It was a daily special. Our waitress and other staff were so kind and kept our coffee cups full. As a sidenote, it was fairly close to closing time I would say about 45 minutes before they closed and not once did we ever feel like we had to rush. Our food came out and looked absolutely delicious! The servings were very big and everything was hot. The corned beef has was most likely the best I've ever had!! it was like a very rustic take on what I know is corned beef and I absolutely loved it! It was very flavorful and it had that nice crispy. Text her and places that you really crave with corn beef hash. 10/10! The blueberry pancakes were exceptional as well. They were light and fluffy and fresh blueberries all throughout. My husband skillet was full of all kinds of breakfast meats, cheese, hashbrowns, and gravy. I don't think you can do much better than that. He said everything was delicious and he really liked the gravy which is a complement to the business as he is extremely picky about sausage gravy! My daughter had the kids hamburger slider with fries and applesauce and she said it was delicious! Just a sidenote, they have a small menu for your dogs as well! We ordered our dog, Marley, a big hamburger patty and she gave it a 10 out of 10 We will return again and again, we come to the area for vacation and this restaurant will definitely be in our normal rotation when we visit! read more

Stopped at Moose & Stella's Cafe on our way to a week on Torch Lake. Nice little breakfast and lunch place with great coffee and great food. Super friendly people. We shared the Wild Mushroom Poutine... was delicious. I had the Detroit Coney Dog. The all beef dog, the chili, raw onions and mustard... was fantastic. The breakfast dishes looked amazing too. Cuteness overload!!!!! That's how I'd feel if my dogs were with me, but they weren't. I had the lavender latte (tasty), and the breakfast bagel (yummy). Me and the fam enjoyed the cute ambiance of the lake town, and when I saw that there was a funeral home across the street -- notice that funeral homes are called funeral homes. It makes me very uncomfortable because it's as if that will be my future home. Home like Billy Joel's "You're my home." I cannot imagine that I will have the same feelings that his lyrics reflect. Regardless, if I did end up dying and that's my the elected "funeral home," then I'm glad that whoever still loves me will be able to have a nice meal at a doggy themed cafe. Such high quality food, wonderful service (go, Sage!), delicious coffee bar options, and cute decor. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. The Hash & Eggs is my FAVORITE. Chunks of fresh cooked corned beef, potatoes, and eggs. I added a cup of gravy with my biscuit. The biscuits are a MUST GET ITEM! I loved the MS Mocha drink w/ oat milk. Stopped in earlyish on a Monday morning to get some biscuits and gravy, and I do not have enough nice things to say about this place! The service was prompt, super friendly, and consistent. Tanya seemed to have the dining room to herself, but at this point it was mostly a couple regulars and myself, but she was doing her thing. They had hot sauces (cholula and tabasco) at the table, along with the standard diner stuff, and notably, Tanya was killing it (in the best of ways) on making sure that everyone's coffee was topped off. All in all, this is a super good unassuming little spot that is 150% worth the stop! It doesn't hurt that they're named after two sweet little puppies, but maybe I'm just biased lol read more

I've had occasion to stop here twice and both times the food was fresh and tasty and the service was great. The first stop was in the summer season and the second stop was recent (late October 2024). Off the chart coffee options but I am content with regular Joe. The only "ding" I have is they have that super duper sweet syrup that reminds me of a low end hotel one stays at on a road trip. Seems like it would not be too much of a stretch to get local maple syrup. Other than that (but that is a real "ding" in my book) this is a fabulous place. Update: On my third visit I noticed the menu option for local maple syrup for $2.99. While I thought that was pricey for an upgrade I gave it a try and it was delish! Cute little dive. Moose and Stella's named after two cute pups. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. We had: The Big dog. It was just that, eggs your way, bacon, sausage, ham AND yummy potatoes well seasoned AND a hot biscuit. Baked French toast. This was so surprisingly good. Imagine bread pudding meets coffee cake with strudel with fresh berries in a creamy sauce that you want to bottle up and take home to put on everything. This place was all around fantastic. Plenty of parking in the lot and around the corner on the street. If its a nice day eat outside their patio is adorable. You want Mariam as a server; she treats you like you're the only table she's serving and her sunny disposition makes you feel welcome. This super cute cafe is the perfect stop for brunch in Kalkaska. They have an outdoor space which is perfect for dogs (though it can be a little loud from the street noise). The food is homey and tasty (we recommend the Country Skillet), and they even have a separate menu for your furry friend. All the staff were kind and very happy to see our golden retriever. Typically love this place. Corn beef hash is amazing with real chunks of meat and potatoes. Have tried the french toast among other items, all good and above. Speciality coffees are good and a nice option. Unique items. I will say today was a little less than good. Omelette was odd. A folded egg, rubbery and tasted premade, with the meat and cheese added to the middle. Not cooked in at all and completely fell out of the folded egg. The last three visits I have asked for whip cream on my drink and they have missed it all three times. Again, not a big deal and we love this place. Just would not recommend the omelettes or at least the ham and cheese one. read more

We stopped here before a Sunday morning hockey game this past weekend with a couple of small groups (we sat at the "bar"), and I cannot say enough about your staff and the service we received during our visit. As a restaurant owner myself, and with what the last couple years have dealt many of us, I can tell you that your staff is engaged and operating at a very high level. The food and drink were fantastic during our visit as well. It proved to me that we will fight our way forward through this new normal, and that if we take care of our people we will win in the end.
