Afternoon, snack, and a copy, and donut holes to take back to the office.
    Jerry O.

Back to Winchell's for a couple of donuts and coffee. I also took some donut holes back to the office for others to enjoy. The store has always done well each time I have been in. The coffee was made fresh for me! The staff have been friendly and attentive. They have a couple of nice tables to enjoy your donuts there, or you can take it with you. The parking lot is not so nice, so go inside the shop to enjoy your donuts, or take them to go.

pretty good donuts here! They don't skimp on frosting and toppings, so that's a plus! Donuts are soft but also a perfect level of crispy on the outside! They also have maple iced donuts which are delicious as well.

Always nostalgic to stop by a Winchell's and grab a classic donut I don't eat them as munch as I've gotten older but nothing wrong with treating yourself to something sweet and you can never go wrong with the good ol' classic raised glazed donuts and the best cake donuts still no matter what m, the service was good and not bad and not bad being the clerk didn't seem to speak a lot of English but that's ok we made it work would of been 5 stars just the cleanliness could of been a little bit better besides that when I'm ever in this area I'd stop by as this the 1st time I came in and he was just finishing make some fresh donut holes the pic serves well but they should do fresh more often like when Krispy Kreme warm light is on but they could never beat the original donut house can't make something that's already delicious more delicious it just is

Breakfast combo comes with coffee, sandwich and donut!

I've been to Krispy Kreme and all the other fancy-chain donut (doughnut?) places after hearing tons of praise for their pastries, but somehow I always end up back at Winchell's. Maybe it's because I never got to Krispy Kreme in the magical five minutes when a smaller-than-average donut is supposed to be like taking a bite out of heaven, or maybe it's because anywhere with really fancy donuts also charges really-fancy-donut prices and I'm a bit of a cheapskate. Maybe it's because I just like my neighborhood Winchell's to the point where I've been going to this location off and on for twenty years despite moving out of the state and coming back to a different part of town. Your guess is as good as mine. Actually, no, I can probably expound some more. This Winchell's is conveniently located on 44th and Kipling, just south of I-70 and easily accessible from the intersection. I remember dropping by during my high school days for a quick breakfast, stopping by on my way to college classes for a snack, and during the pandemic I ordered their breakfast sandwiches and got back on the train once again. Their donuts are great and their breakfast sandwiches are really tasty without being too over-the-top. Overall, if you want an absolutely primo donut and don't mind spending three to five dollars on a small treat, there are some great places out there with premium toppings, torched glaze and tons of panache. But if you just want a really solid donut at a great price, a tasty breakfast bagel sandwich, or a quick cup of coffee from a friendly face, this Winchell's cannot steer you wrong.

We had some mimosas to share. We chose orange and cranberry juice to go with the bubbles. I decided I was feeling more lunch than breakfast and chose the Southwest Turkey Club. It is served on toasted ciabatta with tomato, red onion, shaved turkey, bacon, roasted poblano pepper and chipotle aioli with pepperjack cheese. Yum! I got fries as my side as well as an extra serving of the chipotle aioli to dip. My daughter selected the Works Burger with the day's soup, corn chowder. Her burger had lettuce, tomato, red onion, bacon and sharp cheddar. She really enjoyed it. Genaye was fantastic. Great service!

At the times I go, Bread Winners is usually closed. So I never think too much of it. And I haven't thought about actually checking it out in years. Until the other day, my wife was like, "hey we should go get breakfast at the place next to Bluegrass." Well, we all know what happened next. With the in-laws and little man in tow, we ventured out for a Sunday morning breakfast on the patio. I had no idea what to expect, all I knew is that I wanted to sit outside. Their patio is amazing, completely turfed, shaded, and covered. Nice big chairs and tables, too. Portions are huge, and extremely generous for $15 plates. This is old school breakfast and brunch, not the trendy BS you see on social media. Which is why you won't find too many people online talking about this place. Well, except for Yelp, of course! I ordered a green chile scramble loaded with eggs, chorizo, potatoes, and spicy pork green chile. It came with toast and I loaded it up the scramble with cholula. The food was great, with the green chile being the star studded standout. It had an awesome kick to it! Service was friendly, coffee was refilled multiple times, and we were stuffed. Can't ask for much more these days!

There is a lovely patio and plenty of seating inside but this is a popular spot for good reason! Service is cheerful and expedient throughout. We started with the Mexican cold brew coffee and it might be the best coffee I have had in the area!! It was OUTSTANDING!!! Get it! It's the perfect blend of cold brew, horchata, sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon and I think I could drink it everyday!! We each ordered a skillet, I had the chili relleno skillet with chicken and pancakes for the side and they must be putting magic in those pancakes because they were special. I'm not a big pancake person and I couldn't get enough. They were fluffy and yet they didn't fall apart and I could taste the vanilla they use in the batter. The skillet was massive and delicious and the rellenos were crisp all topped with a hearty portion of expertly prepared green chili. My husband had a different skillet and modified it to add extra proteins and also the rellenos. They were happy to accommodate. What a fabulous brunch experience! I wish I lived closer! I would certainly be a regular! This place is fabulous!!!!!

And, my, oh my, as soon as we parked, we saw the line. Thank goodness, these folks were on their game and despite a decently long line to be seated, they were able to get us in pretty quickly and continued to do so with others, throughout our entire visit. This is teamwork at its best - front and back of the house killing it. We ordered brunch cocktails (bloody mary and mimosa), shared one of their seasonal specials (churro french toast) and had entrees (chilaquiles and crispy rellenos & eggs). Yes, before you think it, yes, we ordered way too much food but took some home with us. Service was really great - fast and cooked to order. Our server checked on us often but not so much that we felt rushed (despite seeing all the folks waiting to be seated, lol). It was a great meal that we'd drive back for. Brunch House has a great vibe - a bit of an upscale diner feel with really elevated food. We will def return in the fall and maybe sit outside. Do yourself a favor, add them to your short list.
