Several folks out front at 7. I called the office, no answer. I went in at 10 and complained. I was told that breakfast was served from 8 to 9. I call BS. Their prices say $80 for one night. Was one of my favorite places to stay BUT I will NEVER stay there again. Front desk rude, condescending as if I was interrupting her. Toilet took a long time to flush. Shower backed up so we actually took baths in dirty water. Just a horrible experience. Complained through third party booking refunded me and was aware about their history. The room reeks of tobacco smoke, and our mattress is sway backed. The lobby does have a sign prohibiting cooking crabs in the rooms, so there is that. The receptionist was very nice. YMMV, but the Inn doesn't meet our expectations. read more

We were meeting some friends at the 30th anniversary of an absolute beautiful gallery in town where there's lots of wine etc. so thought, what the heck, let's spend the night. And here's where. It's a pretty old little place but I guess there are new owners and they certainly are jazzing/cleaning up the place though. It was clean, and no rug (thank goodness). Rugs hide SO much and I always feel creepy when walking on one especially in a hotel, and especially one that allows pups. Speaking of pups, he enjoyed the room as well and I'm so glad they do allow for. I wasn't as happy about how high the fee is though but you never know what ANY hotel will charge for that. And I do get that dogs can cause some damage after all. They did have the choice of king beds and sometimes older hotels do not have those so we were again happy about that. We noticed how very quiet it was outside and were able to sleep well because of that. I do like hotels where your car is parked directly in front of your door so you don't have to worry so much about break ins. I've been to other hotels and actually had that happen to us. After reading the reviews about breakfast issues I really don't see what the big deal is. This hotel is not one of those brand names so I can't imagine anyone should expect a brunch and those hotels really use powdered eggs and go on the cheap at any rate. Here they had really great STRONG coffee (love that), oh and if you don't like just add hot water to the coffee. That way we both win. ;) The bagels were fresh and they didn't just have the boring plain ones (like some, ahem, hotels do) but had 3 choices including the everything bagel. So there.. haha. They had real cream cheese and you could toast them too. Also, there's cereal choices too. It saved us a little extra money not having to go to a restaurant for a bite. One thing you need to know is that there's a 72 hour cancellation time. All in all we were ok staying here and really this is a tiny place so there are limited options. We felt completely safe too. I didn't think the town had any kind of weird vibe regarding that. The place is still a work in progress so have some patience. :) I did love coming out of my room and seeing the pretty harbor view. read more

I know this is the town's only hotel but damn. Not hot water, it's warm enough to shower in I guess. Was a single dead crisp bug in the towels. Nights were not easy as someone with kids and a dog was above us, we didn't sleep very well. Could hear the dad and every snore over the night. Was woken up by kids at 8am running overhead. Can hear ppl coughing in their rooms. Not private whatsoever, even the curtains hardly fit the windows and there's a big sight into the bathroom from the back of the hotel...only stayed here in Reedsport bc it was the last hotel open...given how this killed my sleep, and motivation to get ready in the morning. I have stayed here several times. I will not be back. My partner witnessed the management harassing a man for smoking a cigar in the parking lot. Claiming he was smoking marijuana. He was not. We had called and needed 10 minutes longer on check out. Loud neighbors that night so slow start. They said no problem. We were billed for another night. I tried calling and working this out Raj I believe was his name called me a liar. Paying an extra 126 dollars for 10 minutes, when we asked about that when we called and they said don't worry about that. Poor business practices all around. Was in a pickle the other night, in need of a place to stay that allows pets after a bad experience with another rental in the area, hotel clerk very kind, very accommodating, even offered to allow us to see the room before renting, the room was a standard king, very clean, updated, everything you normally get, also small refrigerator, and coffee pot, price was fair for the area, only complaint I had was the pet fee was 50.00, stayed at a nice place the next night in Coos bay and pet fee was only 15.00 total, but over all this is a nice location close to store and restaurants/bar, and marina :), beautiful area read more

Basic motel in heart of Winchester Bay Checked in Sunday afternoon. Staff scrambling to service the 50 rooms from the weekend but Lori(?) was very helpful to us and appreciated Room was basic room w a Queen, desk, chair, tv, micro and frig. Bathroom had new updated fixtures and was very clean. Bed was not new but was fine. Room was clean just like other reviews. Our stay it was quiet all night Water pressure is A+ and the shower was very welcome w the new shower head Very reasonably priced. We had visiting in Coos Bay but stayed here as the Bay Area rooms are over priced Not a Best Western or Hampton. But a clean room for a reasonable price. ​This was the most negative experience ever because there was no hot water - at all. The heat, which we attempted for an hour and a half did not heat up that room. The bathroom actually locked one of us in! There was rust around the rim of the drain in the bath tub. There was some old ratchety door with sliding locks from the early 70's at top and bottom. The lamp by the bed when turned on was flickering like a horror movie. The beds were ancient and the bedding looked dirty. There were only two other cars in the entire place. It was like an abandoned ghost town. The front door lock, as another reviewer mentioned, was feeble and not secure. The "harbor view" as another reviewer mentioned, was miniscule, silly to advertise. The person who checked us in warned us not to use the winding staircase and when we approached we could see why. If you are into horror movies this would be a cool place to hang out and spend a night. Not us. We asked for a refund and the person in the office said this would take place as we were only there 1 1/2 hours trying to brave the experience with some humor. Nope. Didn't happen. The full amount was withdrawn from my account. I just called now and spoke with the (supposed) manager who was rude and argumentative. What a flop house! At 145.00 a night they should be begging people to stay in this dump but instead they are.... Let's just say " not overly friendly ". The rooms are cold and uncomfortable with hard purgo floors that Echo when you walk on them . A twin queen room is actually separate into two separate rooms ( which is actually kinda nice) except for that there is only one tv in one of the rooms. The shower pressure is a trickle and water is BARELY warm enough to shower. The cadet style wall heaters are either on and cooking you out of the place or off freezing you out. Thermostat is useless. Curtains do not fit the windows and the VERY BRIGHT lights from the outside catwalk shine directly into the room. The beds are cheap, lumpy and hard with flat pillows. Everything about this room is LOUD! Cheap flimsy doors echo when you close them. It's nearly impossible to walk without waking the neighbors below. We can hear conversations next door through the walls. Basically this is one of the weirdest , loudest and most uncomfortable room I've ever rented. read more

We have never been to or heard of Winchester Bay, Oregon. We've driven past it probably a 100 times in my life but it's a 1 road in and out town. Lots of fishing, crabbing and boating spots. The location of this hotel is perfect, nice and quiet. No traffic at all, what so ever. Small boat marina across street but does NOT have the typical fishery smell like some beach towns do. The hotel has a full kitchen, very spacious, full size bathroom and great views with lots of windows, all of which open on both sides for a great breeze and airflow. Its recently been over taken by new management/owners and just from previous reviews and photos, the new owners have brought it to great conditions. Yeah, everything is older and not from this decade, but it's all in good condition and it works! Some people are just expecting the Hilton in the middle of nowhere. Definitly would stay again with the wife and kids! Beds comfy, vending/ice machines and a walking distance to everything in town. read more

If I could give a minus star he would have a full -10 The owner at this establishment is so unprofessional it was unreal. He yelled at my husband who was asking him to deal with the noise at his establishment. Did not happen I should have looked because there had to be a reason his place only had 3 to 5 rooms rented. Bad service horrible owners! The room smelled bad of old stale smoke the water never got above luke warm.. after the worst treatment and no solution we left. Booked a room through Expedia and while the booking process states to contact the hotel it doesn't inform you that they have only certain pet friendly rooms and you must call right away. Contacted the hotel a week before my stay and the manager made it very clear in a condescending tone that it was my fault that I did not call right after booking and they would not be able to help me. Manager continued to state it was Expedia's fault not his that I was not informed of these very specific things. Booked with multiple properties all over the US and never had an issue with Expedia providing me with correct information. I have a hard time blaming them for something a hotel controls with their booking requirements and terms. Even if I don't have my pet I will never choose to do business with this hotel for being treated so poorly by the manager. read more

Disappointing! Will not stay ever again. 1.) we ended up having to bring our shih tzu (10lbs dog) because we lost our sitter for her. The owner told us we needed to let him know ahead of time and said there was no pet rooms. So we said okay we will just snuggle her up in a bunch of blankets in our truck. He refused and said that he wouldn't allow it because she could bark. Then he said we could take her in the room if we paid him $25 a night. I said no way. I'm keeping her in my truck and I'm allowed to! He then said he was going to watch us on security all night. Crazy rude little man. 2.) kids ended up getting puking flu so we ask to leave a day early with a full refund as our other group was leaving. He said okay come see me in the morning and we will square up. Next morning he told me I lied and he would only give a partial refund and if I complained I wouldn't get a refund at all. He then proceeded to tell me I wanted everything for free. He said I was lying to try to get my way. He said this after I told him the shower door had a note on it that said do not open, well my 8 year old grabbed it and it almost took him out. I told him this and he told me I was making up excuses. It's room 42. Go check it out! Also he told us the motel was packed. There was only 4 cars in the parking lot. He lied to us to try to get more money from us for our dog. Very deceiving. Also my pillow smelled so I flipped it over and it smelt clean so I'm sure the sheets and pillows were not changed. It's older and outdated which was okay but now it's not clean and that's not okay. There was a inch of dust in the corner of the bathroom. Btw, he does not offer breakfast or coffee but it states he does online. Bottom line I was calm and he was hysterical. We have stayed here twice this year. The owner is very nice. Housekeeping came in the early afternoon to see if we needed anything. The room is very clean and spacious. Very close to the marina too. This place is great for people who have families that camp but they don't want to, as there is an rv park/campground right behind it. I will say the continental breakfast could use some work. Fruit and juice would be nice and maybe one of those do it yourself waffle irons. The only other thing complaint I have is the beds are a bit hard, but they aren't lumpy at all so all in all, I would give this place a B+ for sure. read more

We have stayed in this establishment for at least a dozen years previous to it changing hands but it's doubtful we will ever stay here again. DANGER!!! DANGER!!! If you need some excitement in your life then this is the place for you. We had 10 people on a motorcycle ride that were cold and tired asking a grumpy motel owner if she had any rooms available. She was extremely rude and when asked the price of the room she became even more agitated. When she finally gave us a price, I exclaimed WOW. At that point she became irate and said that she had to pay the state of Oregon $18,000.00 in taxes. I told her she should not complain to us but rather take it up with the state of Oregon. She then yelled for us to leave and that she would not rent us a room. As we were leaving, she ran to the door and locked it; showed us the sign that she was not required to rent to anyone. As we got on our bikes and in our cars, she unlocked the door and ran out with a camera and started yelling that she was calling the police and started taking pictures of our lic plates. With that done, she ran back in and got something else and came out and started spraying it at one of our ladies on a trike. It turned out to be pepper spray and she sprayed it on her helmet. She then ran over to one of the cars and sprayed it on the window and then into the car. Then she proceeded to hit the female driver on the arm. The driver made it about half a block before suc***bing to the pepper spray at which point we called the police and filed a complaint against this person. This place could be the best place in town IF NOT for the unprofessionalism of the lady who owns it. We have stayed there many times.. even though the rooms are overpriced crap! It's the convenience of close walking distance to everything the town has to offer. Boat docks. And access to crabbing and fishing. We do a group trip same time every year for many years. Upon checking in most recently she was so rude and disrespectful, had I not already invited our friends and family up and needed the accommodations, I would have told her to shove it!!! She claimed the previous year we destroyed our rooms !! And damaged her property !! For years I've overlooked her crappy attitude, the stank dank smell of the old outdated rooms. Dingy linens and filthy carpets, to be treated like that! And I 100% assure you we did not do any such thing to our rooms or property. We are clean respectful people. Best we can come up with is that she confused us with a rowdier crowd that was there the same weekend. Regardless, her behavior was way out of line and I will never go there again!!! read more

I truly hate to write a terrible review but hope it helps someone in the future from making the same mistake we did. Made reservations over the phone months ago arrived to check in finding there was no reservation under our parties name. We still however we able to get a room. Sadly I wish they wouldn't have been able to accommodate us after it was all said and done. Cigarette butts on the floor of our room upon checkin in..... no toilet paper in room which I guess was ok because our toilet didn't flush anyway. Had to use our friends bathroom. Thankfully my husband is plumber so after he was back in the evening from fishing I was able to use the one in the room that we paid over 400 dollars for. Only hot water in bathroom sink because the faucet was broke, no maid service with a 3 night stay so had to find someone to ask for a towel 4 days in and on top of that the day of checkout I came out of the shower to get dressed and had someone use a key only to find me standing there naked 2 hours prior to the check out time. Honestly it makes me laugh because you can't tell me they were coming into the room to clean it especially if there were still cigarettes butts on the floor when we checked in. Am I confused or what? Haha! To top it off we just checked out and went to grab a bite to eat so we asked to leave our car there so we could walk. We were told it was ok (please keep in mind there's 70 empty spots on a Monday afternoon) only to get a phone call 20 min later saying to get the car off off the property. Haha! I understand that due to fishing industry for tourists and such these rooms will still always book no matter how bad the place is but I strongly recommend booking at harbor view if you can or sleep in your car. I have gone to Winchester Bay Inn for years now for crabbing. They recently have new management start Sept 2017. From the previous review about dogs they are relentless. I had made my reservation asked about pets being allowed and was told okay for a small fee. I fill out my paperwork select dogs and go on my merry way. After about 20 minutes of being there the owner comes running and says "you have dogs" I said yes, i check marked on my paperwork, "Oh. this is a problem come to the office." I was clearly right he didn't see the check mark, but wanted to blame me for this mistake. He then said he has to move me to a designated dog room. The room already had my stuff in it and my dog, by the way there were never any designated dog rooms over the many years. He went ahead and made an exception since he is new and is going to be painting and ripping out the carpets within a month. The whole time my family was there they watched everything we did like "Spying." After our weekend of crabbing and cleaning up the place, more then some people do, I get this voice mail stating they may have to take action on me for stains on the carpet a heater register broken and dog poo on the front lawn. I could not believe them. My dog was crated in the house the whole time and there were previous stains all over this carpet from many many years of abuse not just since I got there. As for the heater register, we didn't even use the heaters but noticed they looked unsafe. As for the dog poo, I am a very responsible person who picks up after their dog. All I can tell you is BEWARE, they are new owners trying to make a buck anyway they can off someone else. I wouldn't even be surprised they have camera's in the rooms SCARY. read more

So i love coming to Winchester bay to go crabbing. Stayed there last month, just an overnight stay with my family to go crabbing overnight. The morning we were supposed to check out, checkout was at 11am... it was about 9:30am, my husband and son went to go check on the crab pots over at the crabbing dock. I decided to stay behind and take a shower. About 2 minutes after my family drove off, I here a quick knock at the door, I thought my son must of forgotten something, then like 5 seconds later the door opens, I am sitting on the bed with a towel on, nothing else, and the lady from the office of the hotel walks into my room. I ask her, "can I help you", she says" oh no, I was just checking". Then before i could say anything else, she closed the door. This totally weirded me out, why would she be coming in, couldn't be house cleaning, she never said that, plus we were just staying one night, and due to check out in just over an hour. I then called the office, no answer. Then at 11am when i went to check out, I was going to ask her about it again, just felt weird about it. Like what if i had went with my family to check on the pots, then what is it she would of been coming into my room for, but when i went to check out at 11am, the office was closed, with a sign on the door saying to leave the key in the room when you check out. Never did get an explanation, but felt weird about it, will never stay in this hotel again. read more

My boyfriend and I spent memorial weekend 2015 at the Winchester Bay Inn. The Inn is in the perfect location for walking to shops and restaurants. The location is very clean and quiet. This was my first time visiting Winchester Bay and staying at the Inn. The owner Lena was so kind to help my boyfriend plan a romatic getaway. She decorated the suite beautifully! I was welcomed by flower petals on the bed, jetted tub, and bouquets on the table. I felt so welcomed by her warm smile the next moring. She was such a pleasure the two nights we stayed. This place is a run-down, outdated dump!!!!! We pulled in here because we were doing the scenic Highway 101 drive and didn't want to drive any further to get to North Bend. Other places had No Vacancy then we found this. The office door said not pets, but she allowed and said not to have the dog on the bed and we obliged until we got to the room. We asked for something on the main level and she said she didn't have anything but the parking lot was half empty the whole time we were there. She also said we were the last ones to get a room with her but her vacancy sign stayed lit up and she was still checking in drive-up people when we went by who didn't have a reservation either after us. Seriously lady, your clients aren't as dumb as you! So we took a 2nd floor unit and the furnishings, curtains, bedding, towels are all from the 1970's and don't come clean anymore. The boxspring was all shredded underneath. There are large black stains everywhere on the carpeting. There wasn't even a locking mechanism inside the door to lock up extra for overnight sleeping, because the owner was so cheap! There's a paper thin white curtain in the front window with a large, bright fluorescent light right outside your large window all night, I unscrewed the light bulb on 2nd night there so i could sleep. Ran out of toilet paper first night we were here, ran out of hot water 2nd day we were here - really?!?! The walls and floors are paper thin as we could hear every step people would take in other units and almost all of their conversations, we could hear their tvs, showers running and closing doors. My son closed the doors between our bedrooms and bathroom and it sounded like he slammed them and i came down on him to not slam the doors until i went to close a door and it slammed even when carefully closing it. After getting checked in I checked her website and it says pets are allowed and children under 18 are free but the front door says no pets and she said she was making an exception for us because it was late?! Read your own website lady!! Her website also says children under 18 free but she charged me for my 15 year old son I'll be talking to her about when I check-out. If all that wasn't bad enough, then the toilet backed up! Ewwwwww!!! Don't stay here! When we checked out the owner asked us to write a really great review on TripAdvisor about how much I liked the place - trying to persuade us to write something other than the true condition of this place! I told her I was writing a review alright, just not what she wanted to mislead the public! This is the true, honest answer of this place she calls a motel! The old russian check-in lady comes across as rude and unfriendly, seems old and miserable and lazy.
