We were with a different practice out of Morgantown and it was a nightmare. They were going to charge us $13-15k for my daughter dental surgery at Christmas time. It took 8 months to even get in for the surgery and by the time it was time for surgery they told us it would be $14k and my poor daughters teeth were getting worse. Dr. A got us in within days for the consolutation and a week later, my daughter went into surgery with Dr. Norbo who was absolutely wonderful, caring, and did amazing work on my daughter! we could not of been treated with more love and respect at this practice and we are telling everyone!!! thank you to Valley Pediatric Dentistry of Winchester for all you did for us!!

I will start by saying the medical team I interacted with was amazing. They billed the wrong…read moreinsurance (one given to them last year, before I was even a patient), and I paid much more out of pocket than I should have. This was an administrative issue, but how it was handled is where I became frustrated. On March 26th, they said they would bill the correct insurance. I checked my insurance portal to make sure the claim was registered for 3 weeks, and never saw it populate. I reached back out on April 16th to check on the status because I didn't see it on the insurance side at all. In an email correspondence on April 16th, I was told that they billed the correct insurance on March 26th, but that she would resubmit it to make sure. Coincidentally, I finally saw the claim registered on the portal and then received the EOB in the mail on April 29th. I emailed them on the 29th to let them know that I received my copy of the EOB and asked for the timeline and process of getting a refund for the overpayment. I did not hear back. I emailed again on May 5th to follow up -- again, no reply. I called on May 6th, and as told, everything was still pending. I let the lady know that I am showing that payment was issued. She said their insurance person would review and call me back the next day. I waited all day, the next day, and again ... no call back. I called them at 1pm to follow up because I knew they closed soon, and was told the insurance person went to run an errand and would be back within an hour. I waited by the phone for 2 hours until their closing time to receive the phone call, and you guessed it ... no phone call again. It wasn't until I reached out to my dental insurance company to help with my money being held with no response from Tolley. I finally was able to get assistance and speak with a manager. There was little to no accountability, and I was told repeatedly that they ignored my requests for calls/emails because they had no information to share. Communication was the root of this issue and continued to perpetuate it throughout the past month. They continued to stand by their reasoning of not answering my emails/calls. I am disappointed as I changed my insurance specifically to become a patient here, and while the medical team was phenomenal, the front desk team and leadership of the practice is lacking basic customer service skills.

She told me I'm out of network and would have a copay due and I said I don't care I'll pay it because my daughter's tooth is cracked and she's in extreme pain. She said hmm ok. I asked how I would know how much would be owed at visit and she said I don't know we run them 2days before and tell you day of appointment. Because my daughters in pain I said ok just book it please and then she proceeded to give me a date 3 1/2 weeks from now. Shenandoah smiles, please consider taking Serena off the phones as that definitely drove my business elsewhere and I'm sure I'm not the first or last.

I left for a better dentist and sure enough, I had a couple of serious problems that had gone undiagnosed. I ended up having to go to a periodontist for surgery. The periodontist asked, "How did this happen?" and inquired who my dentist was. Had this been diagnosed two years earlier, I wouldn't have had to go through this surgery. Stay away from this third-rate dentist.

I came in today to only find out that bc they didn't inform me (their admission too) either up front NOR with the plan I was supposed to have set up (which, when I made the appointment, was said to happen AFTER the extraction), I needed over $100 with insurance. I had asked before if I needed anything but given no answer. So now, I have to wait until I can find a new one to go to and pray I can get off my new job to have it done. Ugh!
