I have been going to Winchester Dental Group for over 10 years now since I moved to the area. I am generally not a big social media user, but I was just in the office today for a crown and a filling, and I thought it was about time I posted a review for the business. I am an engineer, so I tend to do a lot of research, get advice and opinions from friends and co-workers, and I read a lot of reviews before making a product purchase or selecting a healthcare provider. I thought a comprehensive and honest review might help others in the local area as they are seeking out a dental provider. I tried to make my review as thorough as possible so you will get a feel for the dental practice from start to finish. Location: The practice is located in a nice medical office park over near the Winchester Medical Center on Linden Drive off Amherst Street. You can only turn right from Linden Drive onto Amherst Street, which is good because Amherst is usually fairly busy. There has always been enough parking whenever I have had an appointment. Appointment Scheduling: Appointments are generally scheduled by calling the office, but they do have an appointment request form on their website where you can request one. Keep in mind though that this online form does NOT appear to be a real-time scheduling capability. If you want to get your appointment scheduled right away, I recommend calling the office. For the tech savvy crowd, you will get an E-mail appointment confirmation request and E-mail reminders about your upcoming appointment. Waiting Area: The waiting room is well appointed with plenty of chairs and reading material for your enjoyment. There are a few children's toys to help distract the younger patients. WiFi is available in the waiting area with a sign posted with access instructions. When you arrive, you sign in with your arrival time and appointment time, and you will complete any updated contact information or HIPAA agreements as necessary. The receptionist will provide you with a routing sheet and your hygienist's name. I usually have not had to wait more than about 10 minutes before being called back for my appointment. They also have a restroom available if necessary. Treatment Rooms: The treatment rooms are very well appointed with modern, comfortable dental chairs and state-of-the-art dental equipment. Each of the treatment rooms I have used has an X-ray sensor that the hygienists use to take your regular bitewing X-rays. They also have a new panoramic X-ray machine that will take a full X-ray scan of your mouth from side to side. Treatments: So far, I have had crowns, fillings and regular teeth cleanings done at this practice. The staff are committed to patient comfort, and you are usually given a set of sunglasses to wear while being treated, which shade your eyes from the bright dental lamps. The staff will ask you periodically if you are OK or if you need to take a break. In 10+ years of treatments, I have never had to call them back or go back in with problems of any kind. I think you would be completely satisfied with the long term success of their treatments. Technology: Dr. Gio and the other dentists seem to make continuous and considerable investments in new dental treatment equipment and technology for the practice. For example, the last time I had a crown done, they had used one type of imaging equipment, but for today's crown, they were using an upgrade to that equipment. The technology they use for crowns is quite impressive to give you same-day crown repair. The process for a crown is straightforward: 1.) They first image your tooth and then prepare it by grinding away the affected material; 2.) Next, they image your tooth again and generate a three-dimensional computer model of the crown; 3.) Next, they put a ceramic blank in a computer controlled cutting machine (router) that mills the blank into the crown which is exact replica of your old tooth; 4.) Finally, they test fit the crown, make some final adjustments, bake the crown in an oven for about 20 minutes and then permanently bond it to the rest of your tooth. It looks and feels just like your old tooth. Today was the third crown I have had done at the practice, and the second one done by Dr. Mitchell. Everything at the practice is done electronically, and they have other cameras to take different pictures of your teeth to aid in treatment planning and insurance submissions. Staff: The staff all are very friendly and pleasant and are committed to your comfort. Insurance: The practice accepts many major dental insurance plans. They will submit the insurance claims for you and they do a good job at estimating what your insurance will pay. Training: The hygienists are well trained and they work well with all of the computer and dental equipment. The dentists obviously are doing continuing education to learn about the new dental technologies. A great place to go! read more

This is THE PREMIERE dental practice. Let me tell you. I tend to call this dental practice, "Beverly Hills (of Winchester)." OMG! From the moment that I walked into this dental practice (for the very first time)...I was totally blown away. Let me just say that this has been (by far) the most unique and BEST dental experience that I have ever had. From the staff down to the office decor. Just beautiful!! I had let years go by without seeing a dentist (before I found this dental group listed in my dental network). I previously had some negative experiences with dentists and I had grown scared (after hearing of some dental nightmares) of visting them. I used to get so many compliments on my teeth and my smile. It got to the point where my teeth were starting to fall out. I knew that I had to find a trust worthy dentist! Lo and behold! Winchester Dental Group! My first day there....I did NOT Know what to expect. When they called my name, I was greeted by a young beautiful staff member (forgive me for not remembering her name..as I was taking in the office environment). As I was guided down the aisle to the room that I was going to be in---I noticed nothing but a clean, friendly, professional atomosphe. Other staff memebers greeted me (in passing). Not to mention the state of art equipment I observed....everywhere! For a minute...I thought I was in Beverly Hills, California. I kept wondering if there was a staff member walking around offering pate', caviar and Pelligrino (or Perrier) water in a champagne glass). Yes! That upscale! That alone...made me feel secure! *lol* I then met Dr. Gio and one of his assistants. Both were very kind, professional and they have a GREAT sense of humor. They explained everything thoroughly to me. I liked the fact that they cared enough to make sure that I had a clear understanding of what they were explaining to me and their intentions. I never once felt (like in the past) that my visit was all about money! I felt like that they personally cared and that says alot!! From x-rays,precriptions, dental care to the impact dental care has on your health...they explain it thoroughly to you. This practice is very informative. Very unique and definitley very professional! Dr. Gio to me is a genius!! He masters his craft so well! I cannot find enough words for him for saving my teeth, smile and my self esteem. He is very well educated and has a passion for taking care of his patients. I say that because with each visit...he greets you with that awesome smile of his. He makes sure you are comfortable (if you are cold..he will see to it that you get warm) . He makes the atmosphere enjoyable for you. I like to refer to him as 'gentle ben'. My visits have been pretty much painless. But, very enjoyable. That is something that I have never experienced at any dental practice. One last note about Dr. Gio (this is for the ladies..) He has to be--by far--one of the best looking dentists on planet earth (real easy on the eyes). ***To Nanci (his wife)...I am sure that you hear that all the time!!!! *LOL*** I also want to give credit and recognition to Dr. Mikhail. He extracted a couple of my teeth and made it one of the most fastest, painless experiences. EVER! I can't believe that I would ever brag about having teeth extracted. But...I highly recommend Dr. Makhail! He is polite and phenomenal! I could sit all day and write about my experiences at Winchester Dental Group. But, I wanted to write a review for anyone out there looking for a professional, friendly dental practice. Or if anyone out there is skeptical (like I was) about choosing a dentist....look no further!. I have reviewed the environment, the staff, some of my experiences at Winchester Dental Group. There is just one more person that I wanted to mention in this review. Liz! Liz Whitacre. I refer to her as the 'backbone' of this dental practice. She is not only professional, kind and great to converse with, but she is the ultimate Patient Coordinator! Liz is very organized. How she does what she does--amazes me! She makes all the "paperwork end" of your visit comprehensible and affordable! Somethimes paper work can be overwhelming. But...you can count on Liz! I think every business out there needs a 'Liz Whitacre' in it. Guaranteed a smooth operation. Liz, you are wonderful! I do not want anyone that I havenot mentioned (at Winchester Dental Group) to go unnoticed. I feel confident saying that every employee there is professional and friendly.! Thank you Winchester Dental Group! I have my confidence back and in time (with a few future scheduled appointments)....I will have my beautiful smile back. All I can say is,,,,,if you need good....no, an excellent, dental office for yourself or for your kids,,,,I recommend Winchester Dental as THE ultimate great experience in getting any and all dental work done, Here is my story: We discovered WD years and years ago......my husband has a phobia to dental work of any kind,,,,,and so,when he had to have some serious work done, I decided to call some one new,out of town, but with very convenient hours. I explained the problem,,,,,and got the sweetest dentist lined up for my husband, an elderly dentist who was so gentle and assuring,Ed was impressed and has been back, even though the dear Doctor has since retired! For myself,,,,,I was so scared about having two wisdom teeth extracted,,,,,,but I was under the care of a wonderful dentist too,,,,,who literally "scooped"out the two wisdom teeth within 5 minutes......no pain,no problems, even AFTERWARDS! Then there is my handicapped son,,,,,who also goes to WDG for regular and continuing visits, like this week! He has never had a time where he didn't just LOVE going for his exams and cleanings.......what more can a parent ask for? Our kids need to start early to grow to love going to and looking forward to dental visits,,,,,,and here is a great place to start them off! Another great aspect,,,,,,if you NEED to be seen,you WILL get an appointment within a reasonable length of time.....past experience.....my own chipped tooth last week! I had a new to me dentist and assistant,,,,Dr.Mitchell and Megan.....OMG! No one has even been so gentle, informative, thorough and willing to SAVE the tooth rather than to suggest expensive root canal or capping......plain and simple,,,,,,since I don't know what is REALLY going on in my mouth,it is a matter trust,,,,,TRUST! A wonderful thing with a dentist!I had the tooth fixed and more, and the price was reasonable, AND,only waiting ONE DAY,so there was no further damage to the tooth!!!! I would say that was wonderful for a Friday set-up!!!!!! End result.......I have made a follow up appointment to "get back on track" with regular dental cleanings and exams,,,,,I WANT to KEEP my teeth,and Dr.Mitchell says he wants me to keep my teeth too! NOT under a pillow, but in my mouth! His approach to dentistry is not only excellent, but he adds his own brand of humor to it that you will find refreshing! And if you can't get Dr. Mitchell.....rest assured, ANY dentist in this practice will give you the same professionalism and excellence. Go the extra miles if you are out-of-town....just do it! I am a 65 yr. old woman who had a major dental trauma as a teenager; consequently, I have delayed dental visits as long as I could and when I did finally go, I was filled with terror. I had no choice this time, and my husband's colleague recommended Winchester Dental. I can honestly say I have absolutely NO anxiety or fear of the dentist now, and I have been there often because there was so much work needed on my teeth. Dr. Gio is beyond fantastic, and all his staff, from the front office to his assistants, hygienists, etc. are professional, extremely competent, caring and warm. I have had Dental problems all my life. My first dental visit before the age of 7ys old., I had double the amount of cavities then I had teeth. Through the years becoming unwillingly educated in the difference between good and bad Dentist. The Experience I had with Winchester Dental was exceptional and I thought their prices were below normal cost for good care. This is just an outstanding practice! I recently experienced an infection around a wisdom tooth, and a misaligned bite at the same time. After controlling the infection with antibiotics, I was unable to find a specialist in my own area who had the skills AND the necessary technology to relax my stiff jaw and treat me for a TMJ disorder before addressing any other issues with my wisdom tooth. I knew that Dr. Gio came highly recommended, so I drove down from my home in NJ to ensure I would receive the right treatment, and I did! After leaving 2 other dentists in the area, I tried Winchester Dental and have been using them for the past 12 years. Their prices are comparable to other dentists in the area.
