I will start by saying the medical team I interacted with was amazing. They billed the wrong insurance (one given to them last year, before I was even a patient), and I paid much more out of pocket than I should have. This was an administrative issue, but how it was handled is where I became frustrated. On March 26th, they said they would bill the correct insurance. I checked my insurance portal to make sure the claim was registered for 3 weeks, and never saw it populate. I reached back out on April 16th to check on the status because I didn't see it on the insurance side at all. In an email correspondence on April 16th, I was told that they billed the correct insurance on March 26th, but that she would resubmit it to make sure. Coincidentally, I finally saw the claim registered on the portal and then received the EOB in the mail on April 29th. I emailed them on the 29th to let them know that I received my copy of the EOB and asked for the timeline and process of getting a refund for the overpayment. I did not hear back. I emailed again on May 5th to follow up -- again, no reply. I called on May 6th, and as told, everything was still pending. I let the lady know that I am showing that payment was issued. She said their insurance person would review and call me back the next day. I waited all day, the next day, and again ... no call back. I called them at 1pm to follow up because I knew they closed soon, and was told the insurance person went to run an errand and would be back within an hour. I waited by the phone for 2 hours until their closing time to receive the phone call, and you guessed it ... no phone call again. It wasn't until I reached out to my dental insurance company to help with my money being held with no response from Tolley. I finally was able to get assistance and speak with a manager. There was little to no accountability, and I was told repeatedly that they ignored my requests for calls/emails because they had no information to share. Communication was the root of this issue and continued to perpetuate it throughout the past month. They continued to stand by their reasoning of not answering my emails/calls. I am disappointed as I changed my insurance specifically to become a patient here, and while the medical team was phenomenal, the front desk team and leadership of the practice is lacking basic customer service skills. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Mitra for about a year and had scheduled an appointment with her to have an old existing crown replaced on an upper tooth, an additional new crown made for a lower tooth, and older existing bonding replaced on my front teeth. About a month before the appointment, I called to reschedule for a later date. When I originally scheduled the work, I was told by Tolley's billing agent that I had a $600+ credit in my account left over from work my husband had had done the previous year. When I showed up for the rescheduled appointment, I had been rescheduled with a different dentist, Dr. Joy, because Dr. Mitra does not work on that particular day of the week. This was not mentioned when I rescheduled over the phone. Dr. Joy numbed my gums and ground down the lower tooth being prepped for the new crown, but afterward I realized she had ground down the tooth in front of the one Dr. Mitra had recommended crowning. Dr. Joy showed me the x-rays and explained she chose the tooth with the most visible decay. Scans and measurements were made for the permanent crowns, temporary crowns were fitted, replacement bonding was done on my front teeth, and I was scheduled to return ten days later for installation. While paying for the work, my husband and I were told we owed $1,100+, although we had originally been quoted $800+ because of the $600+ credit. The billing person then said there had been a mistake and that we only had a $300+ credit, which had supposedly been applied to recent cleanings, despite cleanings being fully covered by our insurance. She said if we overpaid, any remaining credit would be refunded after insurance processing. That night, after the numbness wore off, I experienced significant pain and sensitivity in the lower tooth. I noticed the temporary crown did not completely cover the tooth. I returned to Tolley the next day, where Dr. Joy instructed her assistant to patch the temporary crown or make a new one. The patch came off within two hours. I avoided chewing on that side until my permanent crown appointment six days later. During that time, pieces of the new bonding on my front teeth also chipped off. At the permanent crown appointment, the replacement upper crown did not fit because Dr. Joy had decided to make it larger to better match the corresponding tooth on the other side. She said the lab would need to remake it according to the original scan, which would take another ten days. Another temporary crown was placed. The permanent lower crown was installed, but it felt too tall and painful when I bit down. Dr. Joy shaved it slightly and said the discomfort was normal and would subside in a few days. Additional bonding work was also done on my front teeth. That night, I realized the bonding work had completely closed the space between my front teeth so I could no longer floss between them. I was still experiencing pain and sensitivity in the lower crown after several days. My husband and I then received our explanation of benefits from the insurance company showing the cleanings had been fully covered and that we owed $1200+ for the work performed. Since we had already paid $1100+ and supposedly had a $300+ credit, we believed we should have had a credit due back of about $170. Instead, we received an itemized bill from Tolley showing we still owed $137 and no account credit was listed. When my husband called, the employee stated she could not determine what happened to the credit and would need to review all statements more carefully before giving us an answer at my next appointment. Because of the pain, bonding issues, and billing confusion, I posted a negative review online. The next day, Dr. Tolley called us directly, apologized, asked us to explain the situation, and assured us he would personally handle my next appointment and make everything right. At my next appointment, Dr. Tolley redid the bonding on my front teeth to my satisfaction. He agreed the lower crown needed further adjustment and believed the pressure from my bite being off had irritated the root and caused the pain. He adjusted the crown until my bite felt correct and said the pain should subside within 4 or 5 days. He also installed the remade upper crown, which fit properly. He then told us the billing issue had been resolved and that it would be explained at checkout. The billing agent explained that the credit had been an accounting error. read more

After nearly a decade of being a patient, the changes in personnel attending to mine, and my wife's care merit no stars. Since Dr. Tolley has brought on additional dentists to his practice, their level of care is nowhere near what he offered. Since 2023, I've experienced multiple breaks in a filling by his new staff. They don't make it a year. The first time it broke the "warranty" covered the repair. Less than a year after the repair, it snapped off and became lodged in my gum. During my visit, they wouldn't begin until I signed their treatment plan of $384.00 to repair their poor work. Additionally, a hole was present between my teeth to which Dr. Joy said she could do "nothing" for but asked me if I had a water pick. I also made a poor decision in referring my wife here for more advanced work. Temporary crowns were applied to which one broke within a day. They then left the temporary crowns on for less than a week, rushing to get the permanent crowns affixed. Their poor work left her teeth in a condition to which only Invisalign can fix, per Dr. Joy, which would've cost nearly $6,000.00. She has since sought additional opinions and the other doctors feel her experience was not what should've been undertaken - especially crowning front teeth. My experience was phenomenal up until two years ago. But, this new staff does not have the skill of Dr. Tolley. It appears this new staff is more sales-oriented than care-oriented. A positive of this office is the office staff and hygienists have always been a pleasure to speak to and have as a caregiver. Sorry, Ben. It had to be said. read more

I have never seen anything like this. I feel sure there isn't enough space here to tell you what I have been though with this Dental Office so I will give you the long and short. Do not trust them when they tell you that they got Insurance Authorization, because they never called. They only checked to make sure you had it and guessed at what the Insurance would pay and you pay the difference that day and then they overbill your insurance company but the insurance company sends an explanation of benefits to me and the Dentist pointing out the agreed contract amount that the Dentist is allowed to charge so they have to write off the overbill and in so doing I over paid $5,534.00. This happened in September and for months I have called and called and could not get anyone to call me back over the overpayment finally I called their other office and got someone to talk to me. This was from September to March I tried to get someone to answer me. I have left messages for the Dentist themselves to call me back to no avail. I have received a partial credit but not in full and still no one calls me back. I said all of this to tell you if you have insurance you better call your insurance company yourself and not trust they did. My insurance declined a lot and had I known I could have waited to have the work done a few more months later and it would have been covered but I wasn't given that option. I find it so hard to believe a Dental Practice operates like this. read more

I called Tolley Dental gave my insurance was told I was cover 100% with Delta Dental for a cleaning. Had a good visit as the dentist was great, then almost a year later I get a bill saying my insurance is not accepted at Tolley Dental! I have called and emailed they give me a breakdown but I was told my insurance was covered not that only certain plans with Delta were covered! So they have told me it is my responsibility pretty but yet I did my part and called in advance to make sure of coverage! I am beyond upset that Tolley Dental conducts business like this as it seems they do have done this to other clients after speaking to others. This should be Tolley Dentals responsibility as they quoted me incorrectly, I would not recommend as they do not stand by what they say and have no respect for their cli ! I've always hated going to the dentist so it had been years since I visited. I reluctantly made an appointment and went in for a cleaning. I was assigned Christin as my RDH. To say I was satisfied would be an understatement. Christin was tremendous. She was gentle and very thorough. After visiting Tolley Dental I feel silly for being apprehensive. I was scheduled for an appointment as a first time client in a month, then suddenly I got a very bad toothache. Knowing that I could not last a month, I called, described my immediate need, and they squeezed me in the next morning. Dr. Tolley and his staff are very professional, warm, and proficient at their jobs. I have felt very comfortable with the care that I have received at this office. They are very much perfectionist's, like myself, and I trust them to make decisions about my dental care. I recently had a crown that fell off, which was not originally placed by them, but he explained why it had fell off, and what we could do in the future to prevent this from happening again. He was very thorough with explaining and showing me why the crown needed to be replaced, and I will be going to dr. Tolley to have him replace the crown. I had to take one of my granddaughters with me to my first visit. It was amazing because the staff understood and didn't give me attitude. The hygienist I saw was Missy Blitch (look closely folks that is her real last name B L I T C H) LOL. She listened to everything I had to say and understood my concerns. For the first time in my life, I had someone tell me if I hurt too much let her know. She did amazing. I haven't been to the dentist in years for a cleaning because I am very very afraid of the pain and dentist in general. Well, when Dr Tolley came in he was very pleasant and we talked about options and next steps. The thing I liked the most was that both Missy and Dr Tolley they only made suggestions and didn't try to push things on me. I even received and estimate to make the decision for treatment. I am going back at the end of April and plan on recommending this practice to my daughter. Not every office is understanding when a grandchild needs to come. If you are looking for a practice that cares about and listens to the patient this is the one to go to. read more

Dr Tolley is partially correct. We are not patients and will never be patients of his practice. My wife made an appointment to which was cancelled when we contacted our insurance carrier and learned his practice WOULD NOT take our insurance. We re-contacted his practice and I directly inquired their fee structure and as to whether they would accept the "reasonable & customary" fee structure as listed by the insurance carrier. The belligerent and evasive female office help, once I forced her to directly answer the inquiry, responded that they would not accept the reasonable and customary fee. Again, Tolley's response affirms his attitude and questionable integrity fee issue. You may "trust" your mouth to him, but he'll pilfer your wallet. TRUST has to be earned, not just granted! read more

I have been a patient at Tolley Dental for nearly 4 years, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. Dr. Tolley and his entire staff are warm, welcoming and friendly, and always make me feel like a part of their family whenever I have an appointment. Dr. Tolley has a gentle way about his work; I have rarely felt the shots he's administered (which is a rarity for me!), while working quickly and efficiently to make my stay in the dental chair as stress-free as possible. He has never suggested additional work simply to charge for unnecessary services (again, an extreme rarity among dentists). The first time I was seen there, I had lost a filling with a suspected crack in my tooth. I fully expected Dr. Tolley to suggest a root canal and crown - because up until then, that is what every other dentist would have told me. Instead, he cleaned it up and filled it. We agreed to keep an eye on the tooth and would address any issues later, if they occurred. To date, my tooth is still great with no need for additional work. When getting cleanings and checkups, Dr. Tolley and his staff track against a proposed treatment plan rather than addressing every issue at once, which is fantastic. I have to say, in all of my years going to the dentist, Tolley Dental is by far the best office I have gone to. Everyone there is wonderful, and they truly go out of their way to make your visit a good one. We live in a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) where the average age is somewhere in the 70s. Many of us are choosing Dr. Tolley to be our dentist because when he took over his father's dental practice many of the patients were also retirement age, and Dr. Tolley found that he likes doing senior dental work. read more

Not happy with my experience with Dr. Tolley. Had a tooth extracted a week ago Thursday still in much pain. Went back 4 days after the extraction dr. Tolley put in some wadding and sent me home. Seems like all they're concerned with is selling preventive maintenance instead of taking care of the problem at hand. I'm 70 years old not concerned about straight teeth just the ability to chew.
