For a discount grocery store, this place pretty much takes the cake. Even that is cheap. (Can't vouch for the quality, however.) Winco at this location is right off the I-10 freeway in a convenient location. They have at least 100 bulk items at much less $$$ than purchasing them at regular grocery stores in packaging. While you often see grocery grazers at the bulk section, at least you know that the food items contained in the self-dispenser tubs are not fingered by the masses of the east Coachella Valley. To document how much cheaper bulk items are here - I needed chili powder. Could have bought a 16oz. container at WalMart (yes, I hate going there too) for $6. Got a pound of chili powder in the bulk section at Winco for less than $3. For all the non-math wizards out there, 16oz = 1 pound. Surprisingly, they also have frozen gardenburgers cheaper than any place else I've seen them so I stock up. The area is safe, huge parking lot and ready to go pizzas... if you feel so inclined. read more

The team here are the best! In these trying times the bulk food bins which we use extensively are obviously out of action. What a pleasure to find that the staff have taken the time and effort to bag and label packages of our favorites. We were able to get bulk apricots, dates, figs, ginger and coffee just like the pre-virus days. Keep it up Winco. You have earned our regular business. Be safe at home everyone. read more

I have been going to Winco for a few years. I would say about 90% of the time, employees are very welcoming. Prices are very reasonable. I buy items from bulk bins, a lot. Everything from bird seed to flour. Can even order Gluten Free pizza from little pizza place inside. read more

It has been 4 years since I wrote my first review. I still shop at Winco and appreciate the store as a whole much more than I did originally. You eventually learn to cruise the aisles and spot weekly specials. But here is one more strange experience I had. I used to buy their house brand caesar dressing. Loved it. Then one day I open a bottle and it has a new consistency and tastes lousy! So being retired with plenty of time on my side, I E-mail Winco corporate with the intent to inform them that their new purveyor of salad dressing has deteriorated! I received an E-mail back from some customer service individual referring me to an internal Winco form with which I contact their supplier directly and explain the QC problem on their caesar dressing. Stunned.... all I could do is think to myself... really! This is unbelievable.... where is management? Or is the company just run by all the employees with no management accountability! Again. When staying at hotels and/or timeshares my family and I like to stop for groceries so that we don't have to eat at restaurants 100% of the time. I live in Corona so I was excited when I saw that there was a Winco. We stopped in at spent around $120 on snacks, drinks and other foods for meals. We probably bought too much but it would have been at least $50 anywhere else. This location is a bit smaller than the one that i normally go to in Temecula, but not everywhere can be the same! Overall i was impressed with the variety of products and the freshness of the produce. Also, I got gummi worms from the bins so I was a happy camper. Great selection, good quality, inexpensive items and opens 24 HOURS! It was my first time to Winco and I was sold after this visit! I'm going to look for a Winco in my hometown and make them my go to place for groceries! I like how they let you choose how much you want on certain items instead of forcing you to buy in bulk like other places in order to give you good decent prices. First things first... Its a big supermarket that is OPEN 24 HOURS! Craving for something in the middle of the night that no other stores have... then go to Winco. Its a grocery store! What more can I say... one thing sucks is if you bought a cart full of grocery then you would stay longer to bag them yourself. I feel sorry for all of you lazy dudes out there... I like going here because the prices are great and it's the closest grocery store to me. And the staff is really nice too. Since I always grocery shop on the same day and time, the staff recognizes me and says hi to me. The quality is pretty good. Just inspect all the produce you get just as you would at any grocery store. I wish the cuts of their beef was a little better, but if you get steak to chop up and put in recipes, it doesn't really matter. And for the price I'm buying it, I'm not going to complain. But their Foster's chicken, pork, seafood, and lamb (when they have it) are pretty much the same stuff you would buy at any other store but a little cheaper. And when Thanksgiving comes around, they will lower the price you pay per pound for your turkey if you buy $50.00 with of groceries. Last time I got a 25.25 pound Butterball turkey for about $14.00! They also have a pretty good bakery selection. Their variety of bagels are great for entertaining! The only bad thing I had there was their cookies. The only big down side is that they do not provide natural or organic products except for some lettuces and milk. If you must buy the "dirty dozen" in organic, you'll have to stop by the Target across the street. Target also has a bigger and nicer selection of frozen foods and ravioli. But since I shop at both stores on the same day, it's no biggie for me. And a useful side note is that they do not accept credit cards. But if they did, it would drive their prices up. read more

It's just a great place. Back in the 70's WINCO was the go-to bult place to buy food in Idaho. They have changed and now they don't just sell bulk. They opened a store in Indio and it's wonderful!! The place is super clean, it's huge, the people are so very nice. Finally, there were checker/out clerks waiting so the pay for the stuff was quick and easy. It's as big as costco, but it's got more food stuff and it's way more friendly. There's something about being and Idaho based biz that makes it just nice. We are going to start making the drive to Indio from DHS for the prices but more than the price the store appearance and the kindness of the people that work there. read more

Usually pretty happy with this store BUT they are not careful with their dairy products especially whole milk, twice now the milk tastes I don't know maybe bad? But it curdles more than a week before it's supposed to expire. The ice cream makes it home completely fine but the milk is bad. read more

I like shopping at Winco I always go but today there was a really rude employee his name is Jose. He is so rude to the customers. He accused my mother of eating something from the self serve section when she didn't. He saw us getting something in a bag which I informed him we were serving it to buy it. He got smart and told my mother I saw you eating something. Then he was loud and said that's my salary right there. I told him him he couldn't be talking to people like that and that I was gonna speak to his manager. He laughed and said out loud go ahead I'll probably get a raise. Worst employee ever! They can't have someone scarring off and insulting customers like that. Something needs to be done. I was also informed from employees from there, that he gets loud and insult people like that all the time so I really don't know what he is still doing there if he's been there for five years. Best food market in the desert and the cheapest. Plus personnel are very helpful and no waiting in line like at Walmart. Wide aisles to maneuver your cart and people will help you find anything or help you pick out produce. Open 24 hours a day, every day. Best fried chicken in town at their deli department too. We do a lot of grocery shopping at Winco. Generally, we find their prices and products as good if not better than any other grocery chain. And that says a lot. However, we had what had to be the worst pizza from their "take 'n go" pizza dept. Usually, their pretty good, but this gluten free pizza not good. The meat component was tasteless and there was no seasoning. Yuk. To make matters worse, they charged me for baking it, and I specifically asked for unbaked. I'm upping the rating for this Winco Foods page (there are two, why?, how do we combine it?). First off, I lived off a stipend when I was in Indio and Winco is definitely my go-to store if I can't find all I need at the Desert Store (a local farm :) GO THERE IT'S CHEAP even though there's limited fresh veggies). Winco is the cheapest place in Indio. They sell all sorts of goodies in bulk and after spending hours comparing prices, a few dimes add up when buying in bulk! Another thing that beats Walmart and competitors is that it's apparently owned by their workers! Here's some tips: +pasta is cheaper in bulk than in the $1 boxes +frozen and canned food heaven +cheap bellpeppers, cucumbers, and other produce +have the 5$ rotisserie chickens +lovely variety of bulk cheese! the chipotle [when they have it] and pepper jack my all time go-tos and it's cheap compared to the processed, already sliced ones [more processed = more hazardous fyi] +buy the swiss farm milk even though it costs a few cents more because it's more local and traveled less to get to the store! +shop by price per ounce [anywhere :) ] +try the Bear Flag 7$ wine +wide selection of cheap to quality breads +one of the best pizza to orders [and bake it yourself pizzas] I've ever had; they weigh their ingredients so they don't skimp on the toppings! +INSTANT DISCOUNT: BRING YOUR OWN BAGS and tell them how many bags you have at the register and they'll deduct a couple of cents. Best grocery store in the valley. The staff are always saying hi to me and are always making sure the store is well stocked. The checkout staff are always always really kind. I decided to write this review because today in the store one of the employees spilt a box of mushrooms on the ground and I say another employee ran over to help him pick them up. It was nice to see they help others out. Not only great staff this place is way cheap. You can get 4 Gatorades for the price of one (Im comparing the price to a Walgreens.) How can you beat that! I wouldn't shop for groceries anywhere else. Great prices, good deli, and the staff are always friendly, polite and helpful. The bins have many items that one can buy in bulk that you may not find other places. The store is always immaculate. And I have never once had to wait in a long line. Compare Winco to the ghastly Walmart in La Quinta. The prices are the same or less than Walmart, no enormous lines, and the customer service is the best anywhere. I hope Winco's customers will drive right past the huge Walmart they're building nearby! read more

No communication. They do things differently in this store than you're used to. And nowhere are these differences mentioned. I got 2 cartons of strawberries and tried to pay for them on the self service line. The lady who works there was standing a few feet away watching the self service lanes. Never said a word. My card was declined which was strange. I tried again and again. The message said "transaction not transmitted to terminal" so I thought it needed to be tried again. What a waste of time. My card is fine. I finally paid cash. I found out after I left talking to someone they don't take credit, only debit. Well, please have your error message say that instead of some cryptic nonsense disrespecting people's time. read more

today is the most pissed i am about a grocery store. i have been a loyal customer of yours but today is the end for me shopping at winco. since we've been dealing with this virus. we all dealing with it. long line 6 feet distance from the other customer. as a busy mom with 3 little kids at home home school, house duty, then husband work at night, don't have time even for myself or even watch tv at times. the lady at the entrance only allowing customer to come in one at a time. she had a mask and most of the customer not everyone. to remind everybody i am a busy mom. since i did not know that everybody now must wear a mask the lady did not even tell me the new rules. so, she let me in. i am trying to finished my shopping quicker and comeback home because my husband need to leave for work. (the only time i have to run must needed errand is few hours before he goes to work) to the end of my shopping after standing on for a while, then full of grocery in my cart for my families so we can eat tonight the manager asked me if i have mask, i said no, so she said you can not shop without it, i said i am already shopping and almost done, then she said you have to leave. first of all i did not know the rules. i said since you all know "how come the lady that allow people in "did not tell me that" from the beginning before she let me in that i need to wear mark, then she have the got to tell me i don't know, (remind you she supposed to be a manager), then tell me she don't know) then she have the got's to tell i get penalty for $100 dollars shouted at me in front of all customer. this manager/employee did not respect the "all" customer that comes through those doors and talk to me badly. there is no explanation at all. since she think she's doing the job, she fail on doing her job to inform "all" of the employee that works there to treat "all" customer with respect specially like us and for the employee by the door to communicate and to inform a mom like me on what's the rules are. now winco manager lady my kids "did not have" the food they need. i am nothing but a loyal customer of winco. it because this manager lady treated me badly i will no longer a customer of winco. customer of winco must know the damage this lady have done. this manager i guess fail to do one job the most important job. i am upset, frustrated, disrespected. not everyone have the same schedule, duty, or time. if she have kids she should know how hard it is to know everything beside the duty of a mother and a wife. if she don't have kids, she should know how to communicate better with her employee and customers. read more
