Well I'm leaving today homeless, although my income is substantial and 2 apartment complex, that i found by searching myself and really doing most of the work to process to avoid homelessness, especially since I'm 72 years of age, with no living relatives. At the last minute the folks in charge realized that I didn't have a hard copy of my social security, and even after receiving a receipt, stating that the hard copy would be mailed. I was told they would have to kick me to the street and then I can go to the city of Mesa ,and start over again with the process to get funding for housing,the initial move in cost.Unfortunately even after being told I would receive additional time pass the 90 days, because the documents needed were recognized and believe that little more time to finalize everything would be granted Some of the clients had expressed that they had lived there for months to a year. I was shocked when they wouldn't wait less than 3 weeks to help me Yet,my pension from the railroad was more than most of the clients that were involved with the housing for the homeless. So, I'm not going to dump all over them like so many others have done, but I will shoot straight! Ya know what this place needs? A millionaire benefactor a la Bruce Wayne to come along and dump 10 million or so into it, because the bones are there, but the flesh is definitely starting to decay. Actually, the rooms are in decent shape. Huge! Set up nicely with a decent channel selection on the old telly. WiFi? Forget about it! No, that's not an Italian American jargon reference, it's meant exactly as written. The reception is so horrendous they might as well not have any at all. Free breakfast? Sure, I guess you can call it that, but it's extremely lame! The tired but true waffle maker and cold breakfast cereal, that's it! Oh, toast, yay! No fruit, no yogurt, no nothing. It's sad! The lobby looks like it's under a constant state of remodel, but I don't think it's being remodeled at the moment. The base molding has been removed, which makes it look really crappy, plus there's this giant old beat up table just sitting in the middle of the floor like it's a focal point, but a cancerous focal point. The place as a whole is really large with a nice courtyard and pool. Each room has a balcony, and once again, with a massive remodel it could be pretty shnazy again, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. It's cheap though, and if you haggle with them they'll match other prices. I paid 60 bucks a night and comparatively speaking feel it was worth it. I can't see spending much more than that though, so if indeed you're on a budget and want a very large room, you should be pleased. Enjoy! read more

The grass, and even the weeds are all dead. There was dog poop smeared on the lintel of the door to my unit. There were small black bugs in the bathroom and on the couch. I went there because my a/c quit, got there, it was over 100 in the room. By morning with the a/c on full blast all night, still in the 90s. It was cooler at my house. When I complained, I was not offered anything other than another room, which also would not have had its a/c unit on and would have been just as hot. It was the middle of the night and I could not find another hotel that would pick up the phone and would take a dog, so I stay. Waste of money. I should have gone home once I saw the dog poop. read more

Honestly if you know anything about this part of town, yes it has homeless and yes it's ghetto, BUT the two nights we were here we didn't see really any activity. There is a cop car on location but I think that's just to help prevent anything from happening. Not because it's a known area for activity. I didn't see any bugs besides beetles the first night but we did have some roaches go for our food the second night. I saw them first when I moved the stand the tv was on to hook up my PlayStation. The cable was def hard to get working at first, you have to jiggle the cords or unplug and replug it in to get it working. The jacuzzi tub was by far the best amenity. Highly recommend. The pool sucks bc it's in the middle of summer in az and your pool is closed due to 'Covid' but everyone else has there's up. Another bad part is the phone was not connected, even after plugging it in, and they apparently only had one ice machine and it either was out of ice or wasn't working. read more

Wanna catch some type of disease or wanna feel like you are going to get mugged in the parking lot?! Well look no further!!! Make your way to the Windemere hotel! :D I am embarrassed to say that we even stayed here. We didn't realize how bad this place was until we actually arrived. First of all, the employees at the front desk are rude af and they do some sketchy cash only transactions. It was 11pm and they made us drive to an ATM. We drove down the street to get cash because we were told they only take cash for any type of deposits. We paid our despot fee and made our way to our room. We drove down the sketchy parking lot that has barely any lighting. The numbers are super hard to see and we had to park and look for the numbers several times until we finally found ours. Our room was a "no smoking" room. When we opened the door it smelled dirty and moldy. Everything inside is so old. Don't expect a modern looking room. We paid extra for the hot tub and the hot tub was nasty looking. It was supposed to be a white color I think, but it was looking more like a yellow hot tub, yuck. We did get our deposit the next day and we were so glad to get out of there. Please don't stay here if you have kids. There's a ton of weird people wandering around and it can be a bit scary. To Ruben the manager. I had to check out of your hotel 9-7-19 around 830pm due to bugs being in my room. We already dealt with the hot tub not holding water. You all had to fix that. Then to be laying down in your uncomfortable itchy bed to have a 1 bug crawl on my face is unacceptable. It was a baby roach or something like that. The room cost too much to have bugs. Luckily I got it for less than your site through Expedia. Then there was 2 next to the bed on the side table. If there is babies there is a mother. I cannot sleep or be comfortable knowing that. Didn't want to take the risk of packing up all my things to move to another room. So if I must pack up my things, I might as well go home. Glad it was a staycation. If I came from out of town and that happened I be angry. I feel sorry for any customer that might happen to. This is not right. I wish I never wasted my time and money. I rented a room here through priceline. I learned it was a clear case of false advertising pretty quickly. I was able to stay in the room for about 30 minutes before the stench became unbearable. I would call it a mix of marijuana, a dead carcass, and little tree car fresheners. Other than the stench, it's not an area I'd want to be around at night time unless you're looking for meth or a hooker. On the positive, if you're hungry there were plenty of bugs in the room. I'm now at a different hotel and it doesn't appear Windemere is going to reimburse me. read more

There's a reason this hotel has such a low rating. I have not read the other reviews as I don't want to be influenced. While staying there I wrote down all that I noticed, both pro and con. Here we go... I was given a phone quote but when checking in, I was verbally quoted a different price. I didn't catch this till later. I'll have to see the charge on my CC and verify this discrepancy. For two out of three days, the internet didn't work at all. "We're working on the routers". Hmmmm. I needed WiFi for work. Parking/access is easy. I never ate breakfast there so cannot comment. Good luck if you have noisy upstairs/next door neighbors. The walls are paper thin and you can hear any noise whatsoever inside or out. The towels are threadbare, yet serviceable. No bathmat was present. In general, the floors are dirty. I know this because I wore white socks when in my room. The bathtub plug needs to be completely removed to drain water while showering. The bathroom was a mis-mash of expandable foam, patches, mismatched paint, a rocking toilet, yellowed shower curtain and poor soap/shampoo samples. Should you stay here, bring your own. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the rooms. They worked. That was nice. The room smelled of stale cigar ashes. In fact ALL of my clothing had that embedded smell when I got home. There are very few working electrical outlets. The built-in outlet in the desk lamp didn't work. I had to move a bedstand, unplug the electric clock to plug in a power cord for my laptop or phone. The coverlet was slightly dirty, but the bed was indeed comfortable. The pillows were heaps of foam. I put out a "do not disturb" sign and yet, at 4PM the first day, housekeeping knocked at my door. All of the hotels along Main street are owned by Indian families (I do NOT mean any disrespect) and there is zero attempt to make the place somewhat nice. I really think this is a cultural phenomenon. Put in as little money as possible into the property yet reap the monetary benefits. In spite of mowed lawns and clean numbers at each room this place is really run down. The Windemere has a less expensive nightly rate than other hotels, but this is clearly reflected in the quality of the hotel. I had to book this hotel at the last minute and didn't read the reviews. I like to stay in hotels where the decor and function are up to date. I don't need Shangri -La , but do expect some sort of quality. To prove my point, I should have taken pictures... RUN FROM THIS PLACE!! This has to be the worst place I have stayed. It VERY obvious bad thing happen here. The first sign of this is there is a sheriff sitting outside 24/7. The next is you can tell the room we had gotten had been broken into. You could tell that on the bathroom window they had tried to break in. Also on the door itself you could see wood chipped away where somebody tried to break in as well. Also in the bathroom, on the bathroom door you can tell somebody had kicked it in. There was also graffiti on the wall that had one layer paint covering it but you could still see the graffiti. There's also red spray paint all over the balcony table and chairs. The fact they have to have three ways of locking the back patio sliding door is also very alarming. The outlet sockets were falling off the walls. There is markings and rips in every chair. The bar chairs have been reupholstered in old bedding. Which is just gross. There were holes in the countertops were something had obviously been screwed into it and the holes have not been filled. You could also tell the countertops have not even been wiped down. There was still trash left in the room. Cracks in the ceiling. Neither the pool nor the jacuzzi were available. There was no breakfast as advertised. We requested a non-smoking room. By the lingering odor, it was previously a smoking room. We requested chairs to sit outside, and were told there were non available. The phone connection to the front desk was disabled. And we paid just under $100 for this room. All these items should have been outlined when we booked the registration. I can understand making changes for COVID, but at least let the consumer know. read more

Complaints I am very disappointed in this hotel. I don't expect a lot but I do expect the room to be clean and safe. When we got to the room I immediately notice the mold all over the bathroom trim and under the sink area. As I went to put my bag down I noticed several bugs crawling throughout the room. I killed about a dozen bugs before getting into bed. This was supposed to be a non smoking room except there were cigarette burn holes in the sheets and the pillows stunk of smoke. This was not a safe place for me or my kids. I checked out the next day and was advised since I booked the room through Travelocity I would have to request a refund from them. According to Travelocity the hotel refused the refund. Also when I came back to complain, i went to check the room again and my key card would not open the lock. According to the manager the card became "demagnetized ". I don't think I have unreasonable expectations, but this property was not safe for me and my kids and was not clean at all. read more

Is there less than one? I came back this year for an event, and was not disappointed! Starting with not giving us the room we had reserved, the room has peeling paint, broken tiles, smells of smoke and the front door is past temperamental. Supposedly being remodeled- well they need a better contractor because this has been going on since 2016! Oh, and did I mention the hair dryer sparks? Idiot me turned it on (last year the one in that room didn't work) ... and we were treated to burning electrical smell all night. Thank god we only have one more night here. read more

Check-in was an absolute breeze, wasn't a fan of the needed $100 cash deposit for the Jacuzzi room (Orbitz should add that on), but is it what it is and getting the money back quickly right after check out helps ease the annoyance. Didn't interact much with staff outside of checking in and out, however, they were informative and nice during both scenarios. Seemed upbeat as well as opposed to robotic at a good amount of hotels. Can't comment on the breakfast as I decided to sleep in (wish check-out was 12 and not 11!). Also didn't know there was a pull-out bed on the couch, found out by accident. Just made me laugh. WiFi was real fast and the TV had a good assortment of channels. Air conditioning needs updating as well to be able to set for a certain temperature. The catering staff at Windemere went above and beyond for my wedding day - November 6th 2010! All requests I made were fulfulled! Just to name a few - chair covers for the ceremony, doing away with the ice sculpture (which we got a credit for), adding an additional table for the ceremony, arranging for us to be able to keep the bridal dressing suite for as long as we needed, and issuing drink tickets for the bridal party. Everything was timed out and went according to schedule (Which every bride/groom should have coordinated ahead of time with the DJ and then the DJ sends the timeline to the venue. That's what our DJ did.) which is a good thing because we were on a strict timeline! We left for our honeymoon immediately following the reception. From what everyone has told me, the food (BUFFET STYLE - Prime Rib and Lemon Herb Chicken) was fantastic. I now know that the saying is true, the bride and groom will not really get a chance to eat on their wedding day. But what I did have a chance to taste (had 2 mini quiches, and a few bites of the lemon herb chicken) was yummy as hell! Kinda makes me wish that J and I woulda told everyone to stop coming up to our table and stop ringing the kissy bells and let us eat for 5 minutes. LOL From what I remember of the day, its all a blur now (LOL), everything was fantastic! With police present!! The whole place is dirty, inside an out!! Have pictures of how dirty this place is!! In front of every room door the concrete was Black!!! The front door frame was sort of repaired after someone kicking the door in!! Could see the broken door frame and was not repaired very well!!! Mold around the tub, especially under the soap holder!! Tile grout behind the bathroom door was gray, in the middle of the doorway was Black!! Don't know what they use to clean the tub with, but it was so slippery had to put a bath towel down in the bottom of tub to keep from slipping and falling!! (Needs safety grab rails, especially in the rooms with in-room spa tubs!!) Then the fridge, was running so loud the gal in the office could hear it over the phone!! But? Sorry, would be Monday morning before anyone could switch it for another one!! Had to shut it off!! They did bring another fridge Monday morning, He had to pull the cabinet away from the wall to unplug it, the amount of trash and dirt behond it would have filled a dustpan!! I pointed it out, he just shrugged and said he would let housekeeping know about it!! Bet he never said a word?? The internet kept dropping the signal for 3 to 5 seconds on the TV every couple of minutes, office tried couple times to reset the internet, that lasted about 30 minutes, then started dropping the signal again!! Conference Center is Being Used as a Homeless Shelter!! Did not feel real safe staying there or parking my car there!! Police were parked way out front once in a while!! A very strong smell of sewer walking to and from the car over a grassy area!! Asked for more towels Sunday afternoon, was Tuesday morning, (after another call to office) before getting them!! Then the Barking Dog, had been left in someone's car, the office would do nothing about it!! Said, if the dog was not in the room, nothing they could do about it!! Same for Crying baby next door!! Paper thin walls!! NO Continental Breakfast!! (but, I would not have eaten there if there had been one!!) No Pool!!! Pool was closed!! (one reason we booked a room there was a pool was advertised) No in-room coffee!! Because of the Homeless being housed there and other hotel guests, the POT smell was enough to make you sick!! If I'd known it was going to be this bad, I would have switched to another hotel Saturday afternoon!!! One of the worst experiences ever staying in a hotel, an I've stayed in hundreds!! They can improve by being flexible with their customers and honor their contract for weddings. They did not allow me to postpone or reduce guest size according to the national and Government guidelines due to the pandemic, therefore my wedding was horrible. All they cared about was their money. They did not honor the ceremony agreement with the paid decorations. They ruined my cake. The hotel room was horrible. Crimes have happened their prior to the wedding. The bartender wanted to close down an hour and half earlier due to not enough people there and he isn't making tips. I had the placed paid for until 9pm. My friends ended giving the bartender $150 to stay longer. Just sad that I reported everything snd they did nothing because they had to shut down the next day. Our entire family made reservations here two months prior as we were all from out of town and going to attend my cousins wedding. They were quick to offer a group discount for multiple rooms and I seen just why. I had prepaid for the two nights we were staying. Upon arrival I was leery to even get out of the car as the place looked shady as all get out. I walked I the front lobby and found what looked like homeless people sleeping. The floors were cracked and filthy. It smelled of urine and marijuana. I quickly turned around to leave. I Got in my car locked the doors and told my aunt we were not staying here and I didn't care if we had to pay or not. My safety was not worth it nor did I want to get bed bugs or anything else for that matter. This hotel looks absolutely nothing like the pictures so beware. What a disgusting place to stay! Cockroaches and other types of bugs living within my hotel room. I killed a cockroach running across the ceiling and killed one in the bathroom. After the cleaning people (that's an oxymoron) finished cleaning the room, they left the dead cockroach laying in the same spot prior to their arrival. I took a clean white towel and ran it across the bathroom floor after the cleaning people left and it came up filthy dirty. The trash enclosure really did it for me.... there was so much trash and waste on the ground... you could have placed a dead body within the enclosure and never found it!! They have Section 8 families (6 - 8 people) living within one hotel room. The neighborhood is so bad that Domino's Pizza won't deliver during the evening hours... that says a lot!!! This is the worst hotel I have ever seen. I registered online and when I got there the main lobby was closed and you had to register through a small "bankers window" through bullet proof glass. The outside of the hotel was complete crap. When I got to my room ( All rooms access from outside) the door was forced open and the screws on the strikeplate were missing or loose. We walked I to the room to the strong odor of raw sewage and a completely filthy room. It was disgusting. I went down to complain and they said I could get another room. I declined and asked to be refunded because i would not be staying there. They refused to refund me any money and I was on the hook for the 2 nights. The Windermere Hotel and Conference Center was not suitable to stay there. It looked like an abandoned hotel and was housing homeless along with drug use. There was a crisis center on the property. The hotel room had an old foam bed that was well worn and we ended up with back aches in the morning. The Couch had a urine stain, floors were dirty which left us with dirty feet, no hot water for a shower, the shower curtain was missing and the room had an unpleasant odor. This hotel should be condemned and we spent $627.68 (non-refundable) based on really nice online pictures showing the property as being well manicured with nice rooms and accommodations. It could not be further from the fact! I can't even give the hotel a one star rating but required to make a post. In addition, the lobby has been shut down (no complimentary breakfast as advertised) and the pool has not been available to guests for over 3 years according to the employee who checked us in. Furthermore, the courtyard was overrun with weeds and many of the inhabitants kept staring and watching us which made us feel unsafe. I would not recommend booking a room here! read more

Had a 3 night stay booked through hotels.com with a non-refundable rate. I was coming to attend Baseball Spring Training which was cancelled because of the Corona Virus. I contacted hotels.com to cancel my reservation, they understood and said they would contact Windemere for a refund due to the situation. According to hotels.com, Windemere told them, NO!, because it was a non-refundable rate. Under the circumstances, that's just bad business. If zero were an option it is what I would have selected.The first sign of the quality of this motel (not hotel as it is listed) is the sign on the doors that say restrooms are for paying customers only. It is outdated with old school bus yellow bedding, curtains with a plastic coating on the backside that is peeling off. Gross old countertops that are extremely water damaged, but freshly caulked like a child did it. There was trash (wrappers, cigarette butts, and chipped stucco) outside both my front door and my back door. The manager has not returned my calls in 4 days. This was not just a disappointing stay, it was awful. The excuse that they are remodeling is baloney. I have lots of pictures I'd love to upload of the room. I've called three times to speak to the manager and I have not heard back, it has been 4 days since check out. As with my last review of this hotel for the same stay I would love to tell anyone who is planning to come that the "kitchenette" had a sink without running water, no kitchen soap, sponge, brush, silverware, any utensils, no dishes, not a single pot or pan, or anything, literally NOTHING. The stove top is so ghetto they scratched a mark in the metal to show you where the dial is set. It took 45 minutes to cook pasta on this stove top. ZERO internet in the room. We booked two nights at this hotel on booking.com based on price and reviews. When we arrived we were shocked by how much the property did not meet the descriptions listed. Horrible neighborhood, run down property, no lobby access, so no breakfast and no pool access. While driving around to our room we saw drug deals transpiring in the parking lot with shady characters lurking around. Our neighbor was an obvious long term guest with multiple suitcases and other items stacked outside the room. Room had the lingering smell of smoke that made it smell stale in the room. Next door guests were out in front of our door/window throughout the night talking loudly with a barking dog accompanying them. I didn't sleep, and was constantly checking to make sure my car was still outside and the door was locked. We checked out the next morning and found another hotel for the second night of our stay. Roaches, blood stained sheets, moldy smoked-in "non-smoking" rooms, constant police presence and activity. Much of the motel is a semi-permanent residence for Section 8 and homeless living there on vouchers, so there is 24 hour/day noise level that is unbearable, syringes on the property, people throwing stuff off the second level on cars. Tried to leave on our 7th day of a 9 day training trip, manager wouldn't refund, and when we couldn't find anywhere else to stay, manager April wouldn't give us our room keys back so we slept in the car for 2 days. I've stayed in working mans motels and hotels all over the country, and all over the world as well. NONE were as bad as this place. This dive deserves 0 stars. read more

I stayed at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center and paid market price for what I thought was a nice place to stay. What I discovered was that the place was crawling with very unsavory looking people who looked like they were homeless. Some of them even had all their belongings in grocery carts. When I got in my room, it had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. It had stains all over the carpet and there was a dead roach on the bathroom countertop. Someone had tried to force open the bathroom window and bent the frame all out of shape. At one time I think it was probably a very nice hotel, but the pool was drained, and the grass in the courtyard was dead. When I went to leave in the morning there were police cars all over the place. I was just lucky that my car was not vandalized, but I will say this, I was afraid to walk my dog after dark at this hotel read more

This place was probably cool in the 50's, or whenever it was built. Today it's a disappointment. I wish I would have read the reviews before I accepted the recommendation by a friend. It a 2-story, exterior entrance motel. There's a reason the parking lot is empty. The lobby is closed. You have to check in through a bank-style security window. No food on the property. I'm surprised they don't rent rooms by the hour. read more

Bad customer services from manager and employees! I requested for a refund and change of room and did not receive any. I call front office that we did not have Wifi or cable and they said that they will call me back never received a call back. I requested 2 non smoking rooms and both rooms smelled like cigarettes. Have BED BUGS as you could see my husband got bit by them I showed them pictures and nothing was done. I told there housekeeper that there was something hard under the mattress and she pick it up the mattress and there was a metal stick there she took it to the front desk and nothing was done. Cops there 24-7 on site because the city is taking homeless to stay there. There activity there all day everyday. They said that they will let the ma ay know and call me back and they haven't. I been calling and they don't answer me. read more
