Every time…read morewe visit Calivirgin Winery in Lodi, we always hope Rachelle is there--and that alone says a lot. She has a way of making each visit feel special without trying too hard. She's welcoming, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable, but never overwhelming. Instead, she creates a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer and come back again. What really sets her apart is her consistency. It's not just one great visit--every time we've been there, she's gone above and beyond with the same positive energy and attention to detail. Because of her, this winery has become our go-to spot. I even celebrated my 50th birthday here, and it was such a memorable experience. All of my guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing Rachelle was--everyone felt taken care of, comfortable, and truly impressed with the service. The winery itself is beautiful, accommodating, and perfect for gatherings, which made the celebration even better. On top of that, the entire team at Calivirgin is fantastic. Everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which really adds to the overall experience. The wine is excellent, the setting is great, and the people are what truly make this place stand out for us. We'll absolutely keep coming back, and a big reason for that is Rachelle.

Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.

My favorite is the Prosecco DOCG is an Italian import ~ (DOCG stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, which is Italian for "Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin) ...it is amazing! The Tuscan Salt is my FAVORITE!! The staff is always the friendliest we've encountered, and their knowledge of both the wines and the local region always enhance the visit. We always feel welcomed (even without a reservation) and unrushed, and they consistently make the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. It's not fancy, it's just cool. We loved it so much we joined their wine club and enjoy all the benefits that come with that! Bella Grace delivers exceptional wine, a relaxed and scenic setting, and top-notch hospitality/service. As crazy as it sounds, this place feels like home every time we go. Everything wrapped up together lends to a great experience. Can't wait to go back! We went into many of the shops in the town of Murohy and we did not have a bad experience. This particular store was ran by one woman and she was kept busy. Since I was there with a bridal party, we decided to do a taste testing which is relatively cheap. She'll give you a clipboard and you get to choose six different types of either oil or vinaigrette. And if you'd like you can purchase a little bag of bread to dip which I highly recommend. If you like any of the flavors that you've chosen, you can then purchase a full bottle. This was a new experience for me. I had never tried something like this before and was pleasantly surprised. I ended up purchasing a bottle of the traditional vinaigrette. I would definitely go back to Murphy's just for this experience as well as the other shops in the area but this particular location was really nice. Outside there was a seating area and a pretty little garden nearby which added to the ambiance and overall experience of the taste testing.

I had researched them before going in because I was looking for Tuscan herb olive oil and a butter flavored olive oil and they had both! I love to cook and i like to use different oils in my cooking. This place offers free tastings of oils and balsamic vinegar ( you help yourself with disposable containers) and small pieces of bread for dipping. The young lady working was very helpful and gave me suggestions of different oils to utilize. They also carry some salts and jams by the register. They also have coffee available. Brought to you by the family-owned, upscale and very successful, Nugget chain of grocery stores. I became very well acquainted with the Nugget markets living in Davis. There were two stores not far from each other and they were always packed. I shopped at the smaller one as it was closer to my home. It is literally the only place I ever shopped for food.I cannot imagine shopping anywhere else. When I moved to El Dorado Hills 5 years ago... thank goodness there was a big and beautiful Nugget a mile and half away. My point is all Nugget markets are quite incredible. Nothing compares to them. Excellent quality, in-house prepared food, bakery... TDF, floral, meat department, liquor, and fabulous fresh produce section. Fork Lift is to me like the Nugget markets on steroids! I was astonished at the size of the store and cool inside architectural design. Yes it is hip! Super clean, well stocked in everything. Organized. Quite impressive. And the same great departments as I mentioned above that are available in the Nugget stores are right here too! The chatter is that the Fork Lift offers many discounted prices but honestly, I never see them. Then I heard the lower priced items are strategically placed in and around the store. Who knows. I enjoy taking the drive up the hill to Cameron Park occasionally just to wander around and marvel at this shopping mecca! Easy exit off the freeway and fast to find. Plenty of parking. Worth checking out if you are in the area or on the way to or returning from Tahoe. Did I mention super duper customer service!?! And weekly specials! Geez... a girl cannot remember everything.:) Here is to good eating!
