There are many healing properties with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, while making different foods, even drinks, even more flavorful! You can sample their olive oils and balsamic vinegars before making your purchase, and the staff teach you about each vinegar and oil type. I've learned an abundance of cooking tips while sampling! What I also enjoy here is they have a variety of foods, skin and hair care products, sweet treats, and more, so it is a perfect business for buying goodies for yourself and to gift! The staff always check on you and make sure you are taken care of, as they answer your questions and give helpful recommendations. Shoutout to Folsom, CA. More Than Olives shop in Historic Folsom. I had no idea what to expect as I walked in. Would there be jars of olives? Olive themed merch? Hmmm. What I found were large steel containers of different flavors of olive oils and vinegars. The names and flavor profiles are written on each container. You can sample. You'll need to ask the employees for assistance. But with only a limited number of employees working in the weekends, assistance goes sideways quickly. A bit of a free for all in getting assistance. Yup, and of course they did have jars of olives. And small gifts such as pinch bowls, kitchen towels, garlic plate grater, etc. Plus they had olive oil based body lotions, balms, and oils. I sampled the lotions. They rubbed in easily onto my skin. Went on with a nice thickness and texture and dried with a light luxuriousness. No overpowering smell. read more

This is a beautiful shop with the best olive oils and vinegar I've ever tasted! So many unique flavors, plus all kinds of other interesting and delicious food products, cheeses, boutique soaps, lotions and gadgets. I haven't named them all! Sampling the oils / vinegar plus the selection of jellies and condiments were amazing to put together for the basket. If only they had better customer service... The products are great and make for great gifts when you have someone on your list who is a bit hard to shop for. I got a few olive oil sets, and preserves. My Grandma loves the Meyer lemon olive oil so I got her a gift set with that. My issue with this place is the service. The only time I was addressed was an attendant asking to take things out of my hand and keep them at the register. Other than that, not a greeting or offer of actual help. Just a feeling like they thought I'd run off with their product. Once at the register, the cashier once again did not greet us and instead spent the entire transaction talking with another older customer to the side of us. I feel this treatment is primarily due to age. I'm younger than the general demographic that was in that store. But I dress very well and give no indication of being a dishonest shopper. The only way a respectable business should deter theft is with polite customer service. Try saying "Hello" next time. Not hard. It doesn't make me want to return. I can go to the farmers market on Saturday and find similar products, plus a friendly greeting. So please be kinder next time. read more

I won a gift certificate for an olive oil tasting party for 12-18 people. It was so fun! This is a locally owned family run business. Please spend your $$ here for your olive oils. We learned a lot as we tasted different types of oils and vinegars. They also had a snack spread for us using oils and other condiments from the store. The artichoke pesto dip is a must make! And also bloom orange olive oil brownies. All in all a fun night and my friends learned something new! read more

Ten years ago, a friend of mine asked me if I would go olive oil tasting with her for her birthday. I was like, "Wow, that sounds kind of weird. Of course, I'm in." At the time, More Than Olives was located in El Dorado Hills. I don't remember the exact menu, but I do remember there being bread, salami, oil, vinegar, and more. My life was changed that day. I was now hooked on artisan olive oils and vinegars forever, and there was no going back. We each left the store with our very first sets of six small bottles. A new passion was born. In 2013, More Than Olives was moved from their old location in El Dorado Hills to their new location at 713 Sutter Street. I seriously can't believe that this shop only has 5 reviews so far! They are comparable with my favorite artisan oil and vinegar shop in Old Sacramento, which currently has 110 reviews on Yelp! Anyway, I love their oils and vinegars, but they also carry all kinds of other artisan products, such as dishes, cutting boards, cheeses, salamis, and loads of condiments. It's a great place to find a unique gift. Staff is incredibly friendly, and is usually able to offer a sample of just about anything in the store. My favorite product that I've recently sampled was an alcohol-infused hot fudge sauce. Sometimes, they offer samples of items that they've cooked up using store products as ingredients. My daughter became so obsessed with their blood orange olive oil brownie samples that I ended up having to buy that oil so that we could make some ourselves. No regrets, of course. In fact, I recommend trying this at home. A few weeks ago, I was walking up Sutter Street on a particularly hot day, when I noticed a sign that said "free pink lemonade samples." On this day, somehow, I had forgotten my water bottle, so I was immediately drawn in by this offer. The lemonade was so amazing. The woman behind the counter told me to take a few cups worth if I wanted. She said, "It's hot out, and we have plenty!" Totally made my day. This is one of the best artisan shops on Sutter Street. The great thing about their shop is, if you purchase any flavor of Olive Oil and/or Balsamic, you are provided with instructions to clean your jar when empty and bring it back in to refill @ a discount.
