I LOVE Windmill gardens! They have some of the harder to find plants and unique varieties of typical favorites. They even had a Raspberry Monarda ! Great selection of pots in unique colors, shapes and sizes. All plants I"ve ever bought have been quality and the staff is friendly and there's always someone ready to help. Don't miss the summer preseason sale to get your garden going. Get there early tho- cause things go fast and parking can get a bit fussy. read more

Windmill Gardens did the flowers for our wedding this summer. Erika was SO amazing. My daughter and I met with her this spring, talked through everything. Erika was so enthusiastic and creative. We shared photos on Pinterest, and she worked separately with my mom (who lives in AZ) to do a garland for the trellis/arch we stood under. The day of, Erika and an assistant arrived on time, built the floral arch, and made sure we had everything we needed for the tables. She was super efficient, and the result was just beautiful. This is a lovely place, especially decked out for the holidays. You'll find some wonderful gifts in the shop, and the plants are fantastic. I'd say this is a destination shop/garden store, worth a drive. The thing that really brings the review down is the staff. How sad that you can be shopping in a store, with only one other customer, and the 5 employees chatting in a group do not greet you. Not once. Nope. Not a "hello." Not a "goodbye." Nothing. It's a pet peeve of mine. If I'm in your shop, I like to be acknowledged. I was thinking of signing up for their wreath making class, but am having second thoughts about supporting them, because this is not the first time it's happened. Can't give it less than 1 star. Would if I could. Where to start? Way too expensive for the services provided, would come up with demands for more money but we're hardly available when needed. Had to deal with several people, not like a REAL wedding venue where you have one coordinator. Had to deal with the Bistro staff who were often too busy with dining customers to really be of help... unless you were giving them more money. Only good thing is the place is pretty, but not worth the rude staff and the overpriced service. read more

I have shopped at Windmill nursery for years and spent hundreds maybe into the thousand dollars there. Bought a fiddle leaf fig and it died at a fast pace. Well I did not keep the receipt no of course they could not find me on there computer as usual and I am a card member and this is not the first time this has happened to me there. So know I am stuck with a 150,00 stick in a pot after fooling around with these people my warranty on the plant ran out of course. I will take my business to another nursery they just have gotten to busy and into to much other stuff and forgot about customer service. You call and ask question about prices and they are to lazy to go look for the item price and size. Like I said customer service is bad. And prices are way to high bought some pots found same ones at another store for half the price. Through with this dog and pony show!!!! read more

Very disappointed!!! Diseased plants that were extremely expensive. I have also eaten at the restaurant and it is mediocre.

After waiting 40 minutes for the staff to find the plant my family member ordered on the phone, we were finally allowed to bring it home. I understand that you are very busy on mother's day weekend, I do. My job is always busy this particular weekend. But we at least have our stuff together and can fix problems quickly. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in on a weekday about 4pm. Very quiet. I was there to spend my budget of $300 in house plants (re-decorating my home). Could not get ANY help. 3 sales clerks whizzed by me and I could not get their attention nor would they look my way. At one point I literally stood in their path and they walked right by. I will never spend my money at the Windmill again. Complained to cashier who was very apologetic and said she would let someone know. She seemed genuine. Left with spending $20 and that was only because the woman in the nursery was nice and said she like the plants I chose for my containers. They missed a large sale (at least it seemed larger to me) and my future business do to their lack of customer care. read more

Great nursery. The tea shop was GREAT!! Enjoyed my visit. Honestly the entire shopping center is great. Mid range on prices. Customer service was 50/50 in the nursery. Some were nice, some were short and not as friendly. But the nursery had a cute gift shop and lots of organic plants. read more

I hate to bring down their rating, but since there are few (if any) reviews about booking this place for wedding flowers, I wanted to warn against it. In January, I went in for a consultation regarding booking them for my May wedding. I can't remember who I met with now, but we had (what I thought) was a very productive, informative meeting. She wasn't the friendliest person to say the least, but she did give me good info and tips regarding flowers (hence the extra star.) We were both taking notes the whole time and the meeting lasted about an hour. I felt confident about choosing them to do my wedding flowers, and I expressed that to her. At the conclusion, she said she would get back to me with a quote by Monday (it was a Friday when I went in, so very reasonable.) I didn't hear from her on Monday, but gave her a few extra days before I reached out. I called and left a message- no reply. A week later I emailed her a summary of our initial meeting just in case she needed a reminder- still no reply. I'm not quite sure why she went through the trouble of meeting with me when she evidently didn't have any intention on providing flowers for my wedding. Very disappointing, especially since I drove from Kirkland to sumner on a Friday afternoon, and if you know about southbound 405, I5 and 167 on Friday afternoons, you'll understand the added angst. read more

I came to visit you guys after leaving Fred Meyers garden department and there is such a difference in the quality and the prices are about same. Amazing place. Spring and summer this is the place for entertainment, great food and a place to shop for your garden. It is one of the most beautiful nurseries in the area. The attract quite the crowd not only on the sunny weekend but also during the week. It's worth checking out even if you don't have a green thumb. This is THE place to have a wonderful breakie or lunch with friends. Grab those girlfriends, your daughter, fiance, etc and head here for a lovely meal. Its reasonable (under fifteen each for lunch) and lots of variety and atmosphere. Why go to Europe when you can get that little bistro, cafe feeling right in Sumner WA and save the hassle of travel? Plants are expensive but you get what you pay for here. Remember cheap plants at large box stores are usually stressed out from lack of care and wharehousing. Not the case here. Every plant gets full attention and they are happy little guys to travel home with you to your garden, not freaked out plants that wither away later in your garden. read more

We had to wait in line for ten minutes to pay. When another register opened up, we walked over there. Then the lady told us that it is a separate business and she can't ring up. We had to go back to the original register, and by then another customer was waiting. We had to wait some more. The store was not very crowded, but the cashier said that she did not realize that we were waiting for a long time. It was ridiculous. They should have signs if multiple registers are for separate businesses and people can't pay for certain things. Very frustrating experience. read more

We have been a member on the Green Club for many years. We used to get as many refills of fertilizer as we wanted however this year we are limited to 5 per visit. This wouldn't be so bad if they enforced it with EVERY customer however it seems they have an issue with my husband. The lady in front of him filled 12 gallons and nothing was said to her, he filled six and one of the staff ladies told him he would have to pay for the 6th one!!! We drive from Federal Way and really enjoy Windmill Nursery, classes and guest speakers however we'll be spending our money at a nursery that doesn't hassle us. read more
