Jim is awesome!! Jim is exactly the type of professional who you would want to do this type of work for you. He is passionate about window coverings/blinds and doing the job right. He takes great pride in his work (which is hard to find now days) and is essentially a perfectionist. Jim has years of experience and has the ability to be consultant for you throughout the decision making process. I purchased a brand new home that did not have any window treatments provided by the builder. Jim arrived, measured and surveyed all of the windows, then gave me several recommendations. Jim has a full suite of options including traditional blinds (of all types), window shades (of all types and colors), styles (top down/bottom up, motorized, etc). Jim quoted very reasonable prices that were highly competitive. I ultimately made the choice to do white top down/bottom up shades in nearly every window of the house. Jim even made recommendations on which windows the shades wouldn't be necessary for. He could have easily tried to upsell, but he is honest and very realistic for his customers. Jim's prices were so reasonable that I was even able to do about half of my shades in a motorized format. They are battery powered shades with only one battery in each (which is rechargeable) and only needs to be charged once or twice a year. Additionally, they all sync to an app an also to wireless remote controls. Jim ordered them and it only took a few weeks for them to arrive. Finally, Jim came out and perfectly installed all of them. He walked me through how to use them and how to set-up the motorized shades. They are now on timers and go up, down, and to partially open settings at different times throughout the day. It is really a great set-up and Jim did a fantastic job. There was even one shade that wasn't opening/closing smoothly after install, which Jim re-ordered at no cost. He made another trip back out to install the re-ordered shade and fix it once it arrived. Jim truly does a fantastic job and goes above & beyond. read more

You just don't see that many businesses run by hearts like Window Coverings by Design anymore. I rather call Jim a friend than a salesman or a businessman. The job he did is excellent, the advice he gave is excellent, and the service he provided is excellent. Jim is the only home improvement contractor that I remember by heart after 7 years of installation for the window coverings in my house. I just want to thank him publicly for fixing my remote-controlled venetian blinds and a small job he did for my house during his very busy schedule. I decided to have a shade installed to cover a skylight in our house. During the summer, especially this year, the temperature in the upstairs would be at least 10 degrees warmer than downstairs. I did my research and wanted to stay with a local company. The reviews for Window Coverings By Design were very good, so I called them and spoke to Jim Brooks and made an appointment. He arrived early and had all the information I needed. We selected the color for the blind and the type of blind to be used. We felt the price was reasonable and the product was Hunter-Douglas, a well-known brand. Jim is very personable and knowledgeable. It took about 2 weeks for the product to arrive, and Jim then came out to do the install. The blind looks great, works great and Jim provided a folder with additional information, such as the warranty. This was absolutely one of the best experiences we have had with a contractor. I cannot thank Jim enough for his part from the beginning of the project to the final install. He even provided a demonstration on how to properly open and close the installed shade. He was great to work with and I would definitely call him to do any other projects at our home regarding window coverings. read more

We bought a John Day home in North Bend with Hunter Douglas window treatments 2 years ago. During those 2 years the blinds have been experiencing different levels of breakdown from only lifting or lowering to not working at all. Not being the original owner we were trying to figure out a way to get them repaired without having to bring them to a repair business. I figured out that Window Coverings by Design was the installer and emailed them requesting in home service. They promptly were able to fit me in their schedule. The Hunter Douglas blinds we had installed in our living room are beautiful and Top Quality! But even better than the blinds was the amazing customer service Jim provided. A really professional job by a guy that made you feel appreciated as a customer and providing the very best customer service, even after 7 years. We had a small problem with one of the blinds not raising so I called Jim. He came out the next day and repaired the blind with brand new parts and said to me no charge it is covered under warranty and he did it with a smile! Couldn't be happier with our blinds. Jim was top notch with several design suggestions. We have a 1929 house with original mahogany trim so needed something that would work without screaming contemporary. We chose a top down/bottom up shade with very little hardware showing that blended perfectly with the woodwork. Jim's knowledge on product and his installation were professional and he was so personable as well, which was a bonus.
