I get lot's of compliments on my shades from Window Design Group. I have them in every window in my home that has a shade on it. They were very competitive with their pricing, it didn't take too long for the shades to be produced and the installation was done in a few hours by Anthony and his team. I did have a couple of faulty shades and WDG replaced them as promptly as possible and Tanya updated me with the progress so I felt in the loop. Window design group is a one stop shop! We remodeled our house and chose window design group based on their Yelp reviews. We called and made an appointment and Keith came out and took measurements and gave us recommendations based our needs and our home style. We placed our order and had them installed just about 5 weeks later. After having new Windows installed we realized we needed window coverings too, so since we ordered our windows through them, they gave us a great price for shutters and blinds. All in all we are very satisfied with quality, craftsmanship, customer service and lead time. Price wise it ended up not costing much more than if we had bought Windows through Home Depot- but Home Depot wasn't an option for us since our window measurements are non-standard. We decided to use this company for our plantation shutters based on yelp reviews and ended up signing for 2 properties. I can't comment yet for their quality because we haven't got the shutters installed yet in neither property. I am writing this review based on the customer service we've received from the company so far. I don't know how they got other compliments on customer service, but my experience has not been up to par. They said it could take 4-6 weeks to get the shutter installed (also stated in the contract). After the sixth week, we called for a status and they asked for another week. Another week passed and nothing from them. We called again and they asked for the end of the week. Still got no call after the end of the week. We called the third time and they asked for more extension and even said we were put on "priority" list. We called AGAIN after the extension they asked for and ... surprise!! They asked for another extension AGAIN. That's 4 times that we have called and we are now into the 9th week since the day we signed the contract and paid the 50% down payment (06/06/2015), or if counting from the re-measurement day (06/09/2015), it's now the 8th week. What bugs me was that the last customer service rep had the gut to lie straight to my face and told me it's just the 7th week. If they have production delay, at least have the courtesy to let customers know on the promised date, not waiting for customers to call... just to get put off again and again (even after being on so-called "priority" list). TL;DR Production delay, no follow-up, bad customer service. That to me is not professional nor responsible. I don't know how well they will do to honor the lifetime warranty that supposedly promised on their products. In all honesty, the sale rep / designer - Stephen - was professional and courteous. They have to, right? To get contracts signed. We indeed felt comfortable with Stephen to get 2 contracts signed at the same time. (That's why the 2 star review instead of 1) It all went down hill after though... Will update with product quality when the shutters are installed... hopefully not next year. UPDATE 8/7: Though I had to call in the 5th time to check the status of my orders, they did have the shutters on the way to their warehouse. The customer service rep also went out of her way and made arrangement to pre-schedule for installation. Normally they don't schedule for installation until after the products actually arrive at their warehouse, but I guess they are trying to make up for the production delay. Best Prices & Service By FAR. My husband and i had been dying to have the windows in our new home redone with shutters throughout. We had gone to several places in the Simi Valley area and found that most of the businesses had mediocre prices for the quality of shutters they offered. When we finally found Windows Design Group, we were immediately impressed, not only with the service provided, but the quality of the shutters offered, and over all feel for the company. On Monday we had a home invasion occur while out of town. The kitchen window installed by Windows design group was broken. I contacted them and requested the window to be replaced as soon as possible as the back of the house is on a main Street. I am now told that the window can't be replaced until February 20222. This is unreasonable and unheard of as our kitchen window is boarded up. It's the holidays and I can't get in the spirit with the broken window for three months. I would strongly encourage any sensible homeowner to stay away from this company. Though we are very happy with our shutters the process of having them installed and trying to have them serviced or repaired has been beyond frustrating. It took over 3 months for the initial install, and despite several follow ups and inquiries about the duration of time that we could expect, we never really knew how long it was going to take. When we remodeled our home last year we tried to work with them to remove and reinstall as well as repair one slat in our 4 full sized sliding glass door wood shutters. They did eventually work with us to do this several weeks after it was needed despite multiple attempts to work out the plan and many weeks advanced notice. We were required to pay a full day service fee for what equates to in total 4 hours of work. We were not reimbursed for any overage and were required to pay in full up front. Note the cost for this service was 1/5 the price of our original purchase and installation...note this was just for service. Recently we had some damage to one slat caused by movers while moving out. Upon inquiring about the fee to repair one slat, we were told our only option was to purchase an entirely new set of shutters for our sliding glass door as the manufacturer went out of business. This was honestly the solution provided to repair ONE SLAT. Please do not work with this company. Save your time and money and give it to another local company that will honor your business and partner with you to ensure quality work and ongoing service. read more

I took a handful of bids for my project which included shutters for 7 windows and rolling shades for two sliders. While shutter products did not seems to vary greatly from company to company, pricing of bids and quality of salesmanship varied quite a bit. In the end, I was most impressed by WDG's salesperson Stephen S. and the quality of both the company's product and very competitive price. I was a little concerned before installation because of some delay caused by the holidays and some sort of machine failure (see other reviews for similar tales of woe), but in the end the product was delivered and installed in a timely fashion. Installation was a breeze -- right on time, professionally done, in and out. The shutters look great, too! We got the 50/50 split with hidden tilt on all 7 windows. They look and operate beautifully. THANKS TO CABRAL INSTALLATION, a small windows installation team out of Moorpark, CA. The rolling shades look great, but they are more see-through than we had hoped. The swatch held up to a window is a far cry from the whole shade being up. During the night you can see in and during the day you can see out (not so bad, kinda nice actually). We now are discussing cost-effective ways of working with WDG and their factory to get us new rolling shades in our master bedroom. I am hoping that goes well... Overall, despite the terrible reviews I have seen on Yelp and Google, we are very pleased with WDG. read more

I was contacted by Tanya within 20 minutes is posting yelp review. She apologized and assured me that she would schedule a supervisor to come to my home and view the terrible installation and poor quality of the shutters. I was happy that Tanya was going to help. She called me back and scheduled an Appointment for 1/24/18 at 11:30 for a supervisor to come to my home. On 1/23 I got a call stating they couldn't come out and would reschedule. I followed up twice from yesterday and Tanya isn't available. I left two messages with NO call back. I can't believe that an appointment scheduled 1 1/2 weeks ago by Tanya was cancelled. Had an appointment with Jenna on July 13, 2021. Very impressed. A worker came the following week to take measurements and we were told that there was not enough space for the brackets on one of the four windows and someone would contact us. We waited 5-7 days and didn't hear from anyone so we called Jenna. Because of death in her family she understandably asked if she could followup later. We agreed. Heard from her last week and she requested another appointment to bring someone to measure tbe space again. She never showed and did not call. Called her to ask what happened and she said she didn't hear from the new measurer and made another appointment. SHE DIDN'T SHOW OR CALL!!! We paid 50% down on this $4000.00 project and have requested reinbursement today August 17. 2021. We have also stopped payment on the future payment plan we arranged. We can't comment on the their product or labor because we never received either. But we can comment on their lack of professionalism and the feeling that we were "ripped off" and would NOT never recommend them. It's been 5 weeks today and we have not received service or product. My review for window design group has been long overdue. I am more than happy with the results. I noticed the reviews about lead time, which is expected to be long since you are ordering custom products. This is not a mail order catalog people... These are custom products being made to your specifications! With that said our windows were installed a little over six months ago. And everything is perfect we are very satisfied and are glad that we decided to get our custom windows instead of ordering standard sizes from Home Depot and putting in shims to make up for the gaps. The reason this company is so busy is because they offer great products and they have the best designers and consultants I have ever dealt with. Terrible communication every step of the way, and extremely late. We ordered our blinds and received them four months after we were scheduled. They blamed the manufacturer for losing them on the way from China. Couldn't be more frustrated. They never communicated to us and continually would go weeks without updating us. Once they finally did say they would install they showed up late the day of and didn't communicate that again so we wasted the entire day waiting while they never called. The install went fine except some of the items were already peeling off the wall by the next day. Ultimately the communication was horrendous and the one they did call all they did was pass the blame to others. We tried to give them space because of covid but this went beyond that. All around the product was fine and it works, but everything else was frustrating and we never felt like they provided an acceptable level of communication.
