Here's a clearer, stronger version that keeps your points but makes them more convincing and organized: I was sold on these windows after being told they were better than Milgard. The quality of the windows themselves is acceptable, but the sliding door is absolute garbage. From day one, the door would get stuck in the frame when opening and closing, and the rollers sound like a freight train. A brand-new sliding door should not make that kind of noise. Ironically, the sliding door I replaced from the 1990s was significantly quieter than this "upgrade." The workmanship during installation was also very poor. The installers left glass shards all over my house. Three of the windows wouldn't roll freely, so I removed them from the track myself and found bad or broken rollers. The company had to come back on day two and replace all the rollers. Even after that, the sliding door is still very loud when operating. Once the installation was finished, the installers basically walked away from the problem and kept sending the manufacturer's rep instead. The rep had a serious attitude and insisted that the noise was "normal," which is hard to believe considering that virtually every other brand of new sliding door operates quietly. Overall, between the poor installation, defective rollers, leftover glass debris, and a sliding door that sounds like a freight train, this has been a very disappointing experience. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Do not do business with these guys. Andrew the grandson is very polite but very messy and unprofessional work. Finger prints all over the walls and glass. The install was an absolute disaster. He came back 4 times to try to fix everything and still half the windows have problems. From not locking to plastic tracks coming off and even a brand new window letting in a good amount of rain water. Shotty job as some windows are not even and to compensate they started cutting vinyl all jagged to allow clearance for the windows to slide. Vern the old man is delusional as he started off very nice but then sent a nasty text message when I wouldn't pay 100% because the whole job was not finished to a normal operating expectation. Where to begin? I contracted Durable to replace 7 interior and 1 exterior doors. I was quoted 1 day to complete the job. It took them 4 days and they still did not complete my job. When the interior doors were ordered it seems they got confused with right and left hung doors. Two doors had to be re hung. One of which still does not close properly. The last remming door was ordered with the wrong size. They even removed a jamb that did not need to be removed. The door came in promptly. After 6 weeks I gave up.I called, texted and even went into their shop several times to try to get them to complete my job. There are gaps in the jambs that were not filled in. A tile was broken in the bathroom. The mailbox for the exterior door was not installed properly. Their work was sloppy and I would not hire these people again. read more

Sorely disappointed as this place came highly recommended by some friends of mine. Ordered what I thought were white French doors. Didn't know that "white" meant primed/ unfinished. Wish that was communicated clearly. Secondly, the day of installation was a mess. The doors were installed crooked. Pointed this out to the men installing the door to correct. They left my newly painted walls greasy and smudged. Lastly, some of the glass panes on the door have scratches, and pieces of plastic wrap imbedded in them that will not come out. The first job they did for me was to replace a 10' sliding door and a long vertical window. Vern's team was very nice and got the job done right away. I was so happy with them that I asked them to come back and replace the remaining windows in my house so everything matched eventhough some were fairly newer. When I bought another house, I contacted them again to replace some windows. I tried numerously but the phone just rang and no voicemail. I thought they ran out of business. A few months later, I tried them again and finally got a guy on the phone. Vern came to my house and measured the windows I needed replaced. After 37 years in my home my original double front doors needed to be replaced badly. After going to Home Depot, where the service was terrible, and Lowe's, where the service was very good but beyond expensive, I went to a small shop where I thought the service would be good however the proprietor seemed disinterested in doing business with me. I then contacted Durable Doors and Windows. The young receptionist was wonderful and she had the owner get back to me immediately. Vern came to my home that day, Tuesday. There was no pressure to choose the most expensive door. He was personable and professional an it was as though he could read my mind as far as what I wanted. e did bring a product book with him.That night I received an e mail with 2 estimates and a phone call to let me know the estimates were done. A couple of days later I asked him for an estimate on a different door and I received it just a few hours later. This was on Wednesday. I called Vern to let him know I decided on the first door we talked about. My husband and I went to his office on Friday to sign a contract and pay 50% for the total cost of the job. This was 2 weeks prior to Easter. On the Monday following Easter Vern let me know the doors had arrived. On Tuesday I received a call to set up an instillation appointment scheduled for Wednesday. Andrew and Jesus came and bless them both, they worked all day. My house has never been easy to work on and this job was no exception. Vern came to help supervise and help both of these young men. Andrew and and Jesus returned today, Thursday, to finish the job with trim and touch ups. I cannot say enough good about Vern and his employees. The doors look amazing and I now have trim around the interior which was never there before. Upon inspection I pointed out a couple of things I thought needed tweeking and without attitude or complaint these men did what I asked. Needless to say, my husband and I are thrilled with the new doors and the superb service. My husband then asked Andrew and Jesus to come out back with him to discuss changing another door and replacing windows. I'm sure they just wanted to leave after all the time they spent on a very difficult job but they remained patient and professional. As I sit writing this lengthy review Vern called as a follow up. Luckily for me my daughter's boyfriend knew the owner of Durable Windows & Doors in Reseda. Where do I even begin. Disrespectful, rude, anti-maskers, disorganized, dishonest, very poor communicators. Vern gave us the runaround for weeks. I'm not sure if they're short staffed or what the problem was but Vern kept telling us they'd come but just didn't show up and never called. Then they finally came to install our 2 windows but left the job half done and didn't tell us that they'd have to come back. We're not mind readers or window people so we had no idea they weren't done, until we looked at our windows and they looked pretty bad from the outside so we had to call Vern and ask what was up and he gave us the runaround again. It got to the point where we were going to dispute the charge with our bank because we figured they had charged us for this job that they didn't even complete. The 2nd time they came I had to keep asking them to put their masks on. All of us had our n95s on and honestly there really shouldn't have been a problem.
