I have been working to get a live body for nearly 1 month. I found out today from their location in Seattle that Portland closed. The Portland number sends you to their corporate location. Today I made a point to call on the hour, every hour to get a live person. No luck whatsoever. The automated service says for emergency press 7, and when you do it says it is not supported. Ok, I'm fed up. I ordered several windows a couple years ago and had a pretty good experience, so this year when I needed to replace a couple windows I went back to Window World. The process of ordering is pretty straightforward, but notice that they don't include an reference to delivery in their paperwork. I ordered in February, was told 2-3 months, and here I am in late September still waiting. To make it worse, I only get an update when I finally get ahold of someone and they tell me they're probably on the next truck. They aren't on the next truck. I know its not the fault of the guy who gets stuck answering the calls. I feel bad for him. They simply aren't designed to follow-up with you, and they don't intend to commit to any timeline with you. I wish I'd paid with credit card so I could contest the charge due to lack of delivery. Learn from my mistake. There are local window companies that have more skin in the game. read more

I have to start by saying I have NO idea about the work they do - this review is about their "sales" or lack thereof. We have a custom-sized door we wanted a storm door for, and were recommended this company by the manufacturer. The guy did show up, with one pamphlet on the door options, and said I could take pictures of it - but it was his only one. He told us "you know more about this storm door than I do" (what?) He went outside and did a half-a$$ measurement on the door, didn't care about the measurements, and said once we paid half - a guy would come out and measure. He handwrote everything down, and we asked about an estimate on a window as well. He had a giant book of supposedly all the window work they've done - to which I could not have cared less. 4 days later I heard nothing from the company, nor the salesperson - so I followed up via email to their support and also to the salesperson. 6 days later, I get an email with one sentence, a picture attached of the [same] brochure and two numbers for what I suppose is a quote (which was 30% higher than he wrote on his notepad). I have no idea why they would send someone out who "quotes" like this, but it really was the most unprofessional thing I've seen for work that would be in the thousands. I just can't give my business to a company that "estimates" this way, and support/sales was so lacking. Disappointing - I will have to go with another door manufacturer and vendor. read more

Bill came to our home to go over the possibilities on siding and answered all of our questions. We had Windows World of Portland replace 35 Windows and 2 Patio doors. It took a little over 4 days with 2 workers which I consider faster than expected. At the start of the project I was concerned with potential damage to the siding and trim from extracting the old windows, but in the end the work was done with great respect to the property. We had to do a little trim touch up, but the new windows look fantastic. We received bids from 3 window companies that ranged between $30,000 and $60,000. Our cost was a little over $30,000 which after shopping around I think was very fair. As with any remodel project there were times when we had questions or concerns and every time we raised an issue it was dealt with and the response exceeded expectations. I would definitely recommend Windows World and I would hire them again. read more

We had new windows put on our house on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. I worked with Bill Harte on our project on April 16, 2020, and he was very professional. Due to the Pandemic, I felt that he gave us a very reasonable time frame on when we would actually get our new windows installed. He stated that we would most likely see a turnaround time of 8-12 weeks because of potential shutdowns in their factories. We actually ended up getting our call on our new windows 4-weeks later and they were installed the next week! They scheduled 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday) for the window installation and the installers ended up getting all of our windows replaced in 1 day. We are extremely pleased with the look of our windows and are very happy with the entire Window World team. Bill was great and gave us realistic expectations, the office staff was very friendly, and the installers were quick, efficient and very nice. You also cannot beat the price of these windows. We had another quote from Windows by Anderson and it was astronomical ($30,000 but with discounts it could be yours for $24,000.) for the number of windows we needed. Window World was much more affordable ($6,325!!!) for just as good of quality windows as Anderson. Our windows are beautiful and we could not be happier with them! -windows are leaking. I will update as window world gets back to me. Though I doubt they will. If I could give zero stars I would. My wife and I have been remodeling our home, and we've hired many contractors for various tasks. Flooring, carpentry, plumbing, framing, painting, HVAC, electricians, roofers, masons, you name it! This company has been by far the worst we've allowed into our home. I don't understand how they're in business. Last February a two to three day installation ended up taking as many weeks. Incorrect windows were delivered and the crew was incompetent. They left trash around, damaged brand new dry wall, and spilled something all over our carpet. To the point that the owner of the company came out with his personal in-house carpenter to look over everything to fix it all. On the day that carpenter was supposed to arrive, a sub contractor arrived instead. Who was not briefed on what all needed to be done. He tried pretty hard to do what he could, and ended up having to come back several times. The owner did get our carpet cleaned eventually. However some of our drywall is still damaged. And we ended up just replacing almost all of the molding around the windows ourselves through a separate contractor. I was just glad to not have to keep dealing with this outfit at the time, since they kept promising to fix things then not. During this resolution they also attempted to have us pay the remainder of the bill before they were complete, and were rude to the point I hung up on them when I expressed my concerns about paying 100% before the work was complete. The following spring one of the gaskets on the windows started popping out. After an email and repeated calls I gave up trying to get them to be true to their warranty and fixed it myself. Today I got home to find two windows leaking. The first was so bad I found it because I could heard something dripping in my 4 month old son's nursery. After looking at it, I found that it was leaking between the window and the framing. Demonstrating it wasn't installed correctly. The other window appears to be leaking between the sliding window and it's own frame. I've called them and left them a voicemail. I will update this review based on how things go. But this far they have not acted in good faith. So naturally- my faith isn't very high. read more

Purchase new windows for the entire house. Had ~6 month delay between purchasing the windows and install (installed in February ~2days for install) Had an issue with a leaking glass unit and a leak from a screw plug between two window in the master bedroom. After several phone calls (may 2020), John came out and inspected the windows (I was at work) After the inspection received an email from their admin, "John went out this morning and took a look at where you indicated the window was leaking.  It actually is leaking from the window above ours the half-round.  That window we did not install.  He says it looks like it is coming in under the siding, under that window and then leaking down on to our window which would give you the opinion that our window is leaking, but it is not. That window would need to be re-set and re-sealed to the house under the siding." I informed them that I had purchased all the windows from them, including the half-round and would need to fix the bedroom windows. After another month, had a couple of contractors from WW replace the leaking glass unit and inspect the bedroom windows. His recommendation was that both the half-round window and window below it needed to be removed to repair the seal between the two windows. Same thing John said in his original email. But...he then pulled the plastic plug that covered the screw hole and put calking on it and reinserted the plug. That way I wouldn't see the leaking water between my windows/behind my siding... I asked what the point of doing this. He told me that this is what Window World told him to do and he knew it wasn't the right thing to do. At this point I was pretty much flabbergasted. I emailed the company several times to address this issue, but haven't received any more responses and the rain is almost back again.. Looks like I'm being ghosted... So what do I think of Window World? Window World has cheaper prices than most of the other big sale guys, ie anderson, debella, homedepot. Their calking the screw hole of my leaking bedroom windows and trapping water between my window and behind my siding is creating a situation that could cost me a lot more money to fix than just replacing windows. They do not stand behind their installation. read more

The increase in star is for the owner who stepped up to address my frustrations. Where I work, having to address frustrated, angry people is a requirement. So, here's my big nod to John for being a responsible business owner who will take on those not so pleasant issues. The beast I turned into after this lengthy ordeal has been appeased. Without diving further into detail, he acknowledged my frustrations and outlined steps they have taken to prevent others from possibly experiencing similar situations. However... there's no way I can really take this rating higher as the blame is fundamentally with the quality from manufacturer. If you drop almost $8k on windows (lifetime warranty included) you should not have to replace the same slider twice, and one large window in less than 6 years. read more

The project included removing the original siding on my entire house, and replacing with Hardie Color Plus siding, which is painted at the factory. They also painted trim and my garage door to match. They custom fabricated decorative trim onto two gables. Also, they replaced a french door & transom with a very high quality french door, improving the look inside and out. Window World impressed me from my initial quotation through job completion. When I called for a bid, they came to my home the next day and their very knowledgeable salesman gave me a very accurate quote immediately. Their price was very reasonable, and I visited several homes with their siding work. I also called James Hardie to ensure their installers were high quality. Window World recommended Hardie Color Plus siding, which turned out to be an amazing product in appearance, and it has an excellent warranty. Window World of Portland's co-owner,John Rouse, visited regularly and had Hardie reps visit the job in each phase, and they used the highest quality materials. They also installed with meticulous care and craftsmanship. I have curved windows and I was amazed at how they cut Hardie Trim and Siding to fit perfectly. The installers were extremely helpful, minimizing interference to our home & garage throughout. They cleaned up at the end of each day and tarped materials to prevent them from damage. I didn't have any problems but I did have questions and concerns, and the owner of the company gave me his cell phone and immediately responded and acted on all my questions and requests immediately. I have already recommend Window World of Portland for siding and doors to my friends. For a company named Window World, they certainly do a outstanding job on siding and doors. Window World is a franchise, which is an advantage because they can negotiate low prices on materials from manufacturers. However, your experience may vary depending on your franchisee. Poor communication, lack of professionalism, inept, NO customer service skills, zero understanding of the negative impact they create in customers lives and overall lack of doing what is morally right. They postponed a project to replace one window by seven months and can't seem to understand why I want to cancel the whole deal and get my money back. They expect the customer to be flexible and understanding while they go through a "change" in management but can't provide that same level of empathy. After expressing to them how upset I was, all they could say was literally, "so when can we schedule the installation?" I'm furious!!! read more

I ordered windows the end of August, 2021. Said with current conditions should be up to 16 weeks before installation. Got a call on December 23, 2021, that company under new ownership. I could either cancel my order and get my money back or have them place the order again. This process of placing the order starts the whole process over again. Now my delivery isn't for another 12 to 16 weeks. I will be lucky if they arrive before summer. New orders will probably be placed before the ones that they originally received last summer. What happened to the months of September, October, November, and December when they were supposed to be working on them? If you order windows from them, good luck!!! read more

I had a great experience with Window World Portland. The estimator/salesman was knowledgeable and responsive to my budget, wishes and needs as well as being very pleasant to work with. The quotes for good quality products were significantly less than those of competitor with good info about why to choose one over another window. COVID delayed delivery to them but their delivery to me and installation were timely and efficient - all done well by very nice fellows wearing their masks of course. The result is excellent. Placed a request for quotes on home advisor to replace 2 large windows. Got an immediate call from Window World asking when they could come out and measure and offer a quote. I told them I would be home in Approx 2 hours and any time after that would be fine. The person said they would contact their salesman and determine a time and call me back, which he did, with a time of 11:30 AM. At 11:30 AM, the time he was scheduled to be onsite, I get a call from the person who would be doing the quote who stated he was in Gresham and boy would it be a major problem for him to make it to my Battle Ground location and if I could just tell him the window size, he could quote me over the phone. I begin to measure one window and start to explain that these windows are not standard but before I could get more than 2 words out when he starts to explain that my window may not actually need replacement. When I told him one window was failing and the other had fungus between the flashing and the Hardiboard he interrupts and requests for me to get my ladder, go outside in the rain, and explain the type of flashing present and how he thought even with the fungus present that windows with a glazing strip like mine could just have the glass replaced and oh, by the way he's in Gresham and it would be sooo many hours before he could make it. At this point I said I didn't want to get on the ladder in the rain and how, clearly, he was not interested in doing the job and for him to have a nice day. Apparently he thought the job was too small for the effort to drive 25 miles to quote me properly. Which is fine, I just wish they would have said so at the outset instead of trying to make me do self-service for the quote. All I can say is if this buffoon is the customer facing side of the business, how much more screwed up is the rest of the company? read more

This is the worst company to deal with. I ordered new doors in January of 2018. Today is August 27, 2018 and my door installation is FINALLY complete today. They are terrible about communication. When my front doors finally came in they were the wrong size. This was after waiting for 5 months. The front doors were too small for my entrance so they filled it in with trim since I don't think they wanted to take the doors back. The back door I ordered was wrong as well and it took them another month to get the correct door ordered. The owner kept asking me if I could live with the door handle on the other side? WHAT? I ordered the door a certain way and that's the way I wanted it. Once the sales person sells you the product you will never hear from them again. I wouldn't even give them one star since I can't believe they are in business with such poor service. The owner, Bill, is terrible too. I would be humiliated and asking what I could do to make my customer happy but not this guy. I would go somewhere else instead of dealing with this terribly run company. read more

As representative for my church, I contracted with Window World to replace 17 windows in our church building. Their price was competitive, and I liked the fact they were local, as opposed to a big box store. Our project was not simple, it included 10 windows located in our sanctuary that were enormous. The crew took it in stride. Each day they would move the pews in order to access the window area, and then replaced the pew as needed. (Other installers had told me we would have to have the pews moved out of the way before they would install.) Jeremy, the lead man on the job, was courteous, professional, and a true problem solver. Part way into our project, I became aware there were those in our congregation who were very unhappy about the replacement of one particular window. It was comprised of five panels, three of which were stained glass and dedicated as a memorium. The window was old and highly inefficient. The replacement window had been ordered and paid for. I shared my problem with Jeremy, who in turn suggested I call the owner, John. John responded by calling Jeremy and instructed him to carefully remove the window, separate the three stained glass panels, frame them and, after installing the new window, place the panels safely back inside the new encasement. Jeremy undertook the project with great respect and care. The finished product is a work of art. Those who were concerned about the window being relegated to a storeroom are now delighted to not only have the stained glass returned, but in knowing the glass is preserved and protected for many years to come. I need to add, Window World did this as a gift to our congregation. We were not charged for this precious and delicate service. We love our new windows! And I can't say enough nice things about this company. Professional, knowledgeable, caring. I highly recommend their product and service. read more

Great windows, best price, and non-pressure salesman. I had 5 other bids and window world beat them by thousands. Cool windows, sliders that open either way, with a screen that slides back and forth or up and down. Immediately after installing (which the installers were cleanifull, courtisfull and knowledgeable). The windows are doing there job no drafts, sound diminishing and have already substantially made my furnace and A/c has run way less than before. read more

We had hardie siding put on our house. We love it, the color was exactly what we wanted, and had picked. The crew with Pedro as the lead did an excellent job...Put down tarps, vacuumed when they were finished, cleaned up everything. Follow up: if you choose to do business with WW pay cash or check. Jennifer keeps credit card records when the client authorizes a one time down payment (she calls them "cards on file") and makes charges of outstanding balances to the cards without the owners consent or signature at times of her choosing. Nothing in the contract mentions "filing" cards and I certainly didn't authorize future charges. Not sure this is legal, BBB will sort it out. read more

I had an egress window installed in a daylight basement home so I had to hire a sawcutter for the window and Window World had to coordinate their work with him. Everything went very well. Communication was great, everybody was on time and the window looks wonderful--it was also all done at a very reasonable price.
