Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

I was really impressed by how aware of allergies and dietary restrictions that are. Seating is ample, the space is huge, and the service is good. That + good food + excellent beer options (their own beers and some guest beers on tap) make this a great place beyond a quick drink.

The flatbread was just okay, cheese was tasteless and broccoli was nearly raw. The beer was also just okay, I got the pumpkin, blueberry, cream ale, and Hefeweizen. Nothing to write home about. The blueberry was particularly bad - but the pumpkin was good. There was musical bingo which was fun, but they play the songs waaaaay too long, never been to a musical bingo like that. Maybe play each song for 30 seconds, this guy played each song for like 2 minutes it was crazy. In almost 3 hours they only had 3 rounds of bingo! Overall, I'm not running back to this place and didn't get any beer to go - rare for me from a brewery. Some staff was nicer than others. Shout of Aliya our sever for being very kind and attentive.

Made a reservation almost two months out and when we arrived, we waited 45 minutes for our table. We were unapologetically told that they have staffing issues and that they "can't make people leave". Well-managed restaurants know how to handle this. Yes, you can advise guests that time is limited on a busy night. And as far as staffing, they could have limited reservations to pace with the amount of servers. We were eventually seated but it was in an ancillary room attached to the restaurant with zero atmosphere. Didn't appreciate that given that I booked weeks out. Room was filled with empty and unclean tables. Food was a mandatory buffet. Set up in a very cold room, displayed unceremoniously considering the night, and it was average at best. Beef and the Brussel sprout salad were good. Everything else just ok. Only potato option was tater tots - odd. Desserts were an embarrassment. Maybe they were mostly gone - not sure. Server did the best that she could. Was very friendly and attempted to be efficient but was beyond overwhelmed and left us hanging several times. I understand that it was a super busy night. But, this hotel has been around for nearly 100 years and I assume they've managed countless busy nights of food service. So, pretty disappointed to say the least.
