Our group was able to get seated without one but we got there right when it opened and opted for an outdoor table. The week we were there also happened to be restaurant week. I wish I could've gone back a second time while I was in the area. The food here is amazing. Even the salads were awesome. We had one with arugula, sweet potato, pepitas, and a honey vinaigrette. We cleaned the plate. For dinner we shared the red snapper which was unbelievable with a great cous cous and succotash, and a steak with some amazing mashed potatoes. The restaurant is one large room with dark wood and moody lighting, a bar near the entrance, with a big fireplace on the other end. We ordered the Chef's Tasting menu - HIGHLY RECOMMEND - and she boxed up the portion of each course that we didn't finish (the courses were quite large), one by one, and brought them out to us before we were served the next course. She was very patient and personable with us as we chatted and took our time with our meal, ultimately being the last people in the restaurant. Our meal was timed perfectly, we did not feel rushed and had time to savor each course and finish our paired wine. As for the food, the Chef's Tasting menu was some of the best food I've ever had. It was 6 courses, and we did the wine pairings as well. The flavors were perfect on each course, featuring sauces, flavors, aromas, and spices uniquely prepared to complement each dish. For example, the first course was a piece of salmon served with a citrus butter sauce with a side of pesto, and the second course was lollipop lamb chops served on top of a berry compote. Delectable! As I mentioned above, the courses were quite large, so I'd recommend pacing yourself. The wine pairing was also fun and each wine was chosen thoughtfully to accompany the flavor of the course. We were served 6 wines, about a 3 ounce pour, one with each course. They were a nice mix of reds and whites. I was expecting this place to be really good based on the reviews, but boy were we disappointed! We each ordered the 6 course chef tasting menu and shared the standard wine pairing. 1st course was fried pork belly; underwhelming but edible. 2nd course was fried frog legs; probably the best course, although I didn't love 2 fried dishes back to back at "fine dining". 3rd course was a bland salad. 4th course was roasted chicken, another stronger dish but still not overly impressive. 5th course was a weird combo of teriyaki tuna (overcooked) and a raw potato with inedible bok choy. The dish shouldn't have been served. The 6th course was dessert inspired by a Kandy Cake Tasty Cake. It was dry, salty, and missed the mark. The wine was good, but a few of them did not pair well with the food. Overall very disappointed and certainly not worth anywhere near the $250 it costed us. No idea if the tasting menu is always a bust or if the kitchen had an off night- I can't imagine the restaurant getting the rating it has serving food like this. This is our second time dining here when vacationing in the are. Soup of the day was cream of potato with blue cheese and it was delicious. For entrees we had new york strip and scallops. The food was amazing, but it was Rob, our waiter, who absolutely knocked it out of the park. He was incredible perceptive to our needs and wants, was superbly invested in us having an amazing meal. Our six year old asked to drive 1.5 hours to this exact place based on how he was treated by rob. We dine out a lot, and I would say this place takes the cake. A pricey dinner for food that was just average. The tomahawk steak had several fatty and chewy pieces, which was disappointing for a $150 dish. The scallops were overly salty, and the portion was mostly potatoes. Additionally, the Caesar salad could have used more dressing. I called the restaurant, but the manager only addressed seating -- which wasn't even my concern -- and offered a 10% discount on three future meals, even though the restaurant is three hours from home. The manager was unhelpful and came across as quite rude. Restaurant is a complete waste of money. Don't go! read more

Somehow I forgot to post this A WHILE AGO: Actually, 4+ STARS based on our two visits. In recent weeks we enjoyed a excellent, creative menu and informative courteous and friendly service at Water's Edge. Frankly, I never would have thought of Memorytown as a dining destination but, thanks to a comment I stumbled on in a FB group, we gave Water's Edge a try - and we are very glad we did. We dined here twice within about 3 weeks. A good varied selection of vegetarian options are available. Last evening my dinner consisted of mushroom vegetable soup (delicious and slightly peppery) an excellent summer vegetable salad plus three generously prepared appetizers; Ahi Tuna Tartare, Cauliflower Risotto (cheesy risotto topped with sautéed cauliflower florets and a skillet-made Mac & Cheese (about four different cheeses). My wife enjoyed the Mushroom Veg soup as well (a special of the day) as well a s beautifully prepared Striped Bass on a bed delightful slaw and perfectly roasted Yukon Gold potatoes. On our prior visit, we each had the outrageously delicious and rich Loaded Potato Soup. Water's Edge presents a respectable wine program with a modestly priced line of house wines by the glass and quality bottles at a range of prices. A wide choice of specialty cocktails are presented. My one criticism is that the bar itself has. It yet matured to support a full range of cocktails (please get some Campari so I can have a Negroni when we next visit), even as it has a solid choice of Bourbons and Scotches available. Honestly, I'm not sure where to begin. When we arrived, the host was arguing with a potential customer, who appeared upset that his party couldn't be seated. As the man walked out and we walked in, the host shouted, "I can't wait to read your review." While everyone has bad days, this situation should have been handled more professionally, especially in a work setting. Once we were seated, our server, Rachel, initially made a good impression--she was kind and took our orders. However, after that, she disappeared. She never checked in to see if our food was served correctly or if we needed anything else. It felt as though, because the tip was already included due to our larger party, she didn't feel the need to provide attentive service. Checking in with guests is a basic part of the job, and it simply didn't happen. The food itself was decent, especially the complimentary hummus, but the poor service left a lasting negative impression. I actually mentioned to my husband how nice it would be for a rehearsal dinner or a large get together. Our waitress was incredible. She was so attentive and just all around wonderful. We have visited this restaurant several times. This time was a disappointment. We invited our daughter and son in law and promised an excellent steak. That was not the case. We ordered the NY Strip, pittsburgh style rare. It is supposed to be charred on the outside and rare to medium rare on the inside. It was brought to the table as rare steak. Not seared and definitely not charred. As anyone knows, you can't fix an improperly prepared steak. To make matters worse, they were poorly trimmed. I'm not sure they were actually NY Strip cuts. Far too much effort to find pieces worth eating. We noticed that the table next to us was having the same issues with their steaks. On a positive note, the service was excellent and the other items we ordered were very good. I will not be ordering steak their again. read more

Cooking was not in the cards that Sunday. But the choice of place was a bit of a disappointment. The is probably incredible but I would say some lighting at night at the lake might go a long way. Even in October. Service was great but the food was a disappointment. Mussels seemed to be old. Lobster pasta had enough lobster to not have any. Duck breast was good. Aside from that I am disappointed. From the moment my girlfriend and I walked in I knew we were in for an amazing night. Where do I even begin! To start we decided to order a couple of appetizers. We enjoyed the steak tartare the most but you can't go wrong with the Cesar salad or the salmon as well. For our entrees we decided we would split the NY strip steak (which may I add was cooked to perfection) and the Parmesan risotto which was delicious (must order so good!). We topped the night with the crème brûlée which was one of the best desserts I've ever had. While away for work I came across this restaurant. When I arrived I parked in their private lot. I walked in and was greeted. The restaurant was super cute and had a lakeside view. I decided to sit at the bar and Rob was my bartender and he was excellent. I started with a lemon drop martini and at first it was sour but Rob made it better for me. I had the mussels for appetizers and they were so good. The flavor and the broth were so good. I then had the shrimp and gnocchi entrée and that was just ok.
