Place needs a makeover to freshen and lighten it up. I ordered appetizers, calamari, Cesar salad, mushroom. They were all tasty but pricey. Service was excellent. I visited the place again, this time for takeout. I ordered the calamari. The price was $13. I gave the waitress a $20 and she asked me if I wanted my change?! The Tuscan salad presented me with both grilled scallops and large grilled to perfection shrimp separated by fresh greens, drizzled with a smooth balsamic; all so very tasty. My friend's mushroom ravioli were delicious. Both served on attractive rectangular plating. Service is serious; this place could use a customer experience upgrade before customers are turned away from lack of friendliness. However while our dinner was split onto two credit cards, my credit card was grossly over charged. Fortunately I noticed the error a few days later, called, and was told I needed to stop by for a cash refund instead of a credit to my card. In doing so, I planned to leave a bit more than the planned tip which involved the errant charge, since we all make mistakes and the server need not be penalized. Before I could even do so, the bartender 'resolving' this, took the tip from my cash refund! It was open and usually when you pull up to a place and it's-during operating hours and find the lot empty, first reaction is to do a 180. Came so close, but decided to give it a try. Not being from the area, the place appears to be clean and looks like it could be used as a filming location for the Sopranos. Menu looks pretty limited, and the price range is more like $$$, not $$. We just wanted something small and simple so I ordered eggplant parm, and the wife ordered lobster ravioli. She said the lobster ravioli was very good. The eggplant looked like it was prepared as an individual serving, rather than from a pan. It was good, but the sauce was excellent. Due to just wanting something small, we passed on dessert. Great new addition to the Windsor area! We have a paucity of restaurants in this area so it's nice when a good one comes along! I've only ordered takeout from here so far but my husband and I both enjoyed our food. The individual taking the order was friendly and helpful in choosing items from their menu. Both of our pasta dishes were delicious! Looking forward to dining-in but also happy to know there's a local spot we can order take-out from on a night in. Definitely show them some love and check them out! *Why the great review but only 4 stars? For restaurants that I'll likely frequent, I like to see if they remain consistent in food quality and service. I am here per the recommendation of Carl McManus. I am going to try some Happy Hour items and see what comes out. Starting it out with a Cosmopolitan (only $5?!). Are you kidding me?! Well, these are the smaller Happy Hour versions but it is good and done perfectly. This Happy Hour (3-6 PM) is everyday too! Love the Italian background music with a little Christmas mixed in. Definitely a feel of Italy here. First up are a couple of complementary, strong garlic smelling pieces of bread. Very good. Warm and soft too. If I recall my Italian geography correctly, this place is named after the San Marino which is a small country located in northern Italy. I believe it is the also the oldest republic in the world. Next up, the shrimp cocktail. Love the presentation! The cocktail sauce is placed in a wrapping of greens. Yummy! It says "jumbo" in the menu, but these are really medium-sized. Next up, an order of steamers! I haven't had these in years. Boy are they good! Nice, toasted buttery crostini in the middle! For my next drink, a pomegranate martini. I think this is a first for me! I like it. It appeared to be much stronger too! Next up, vanilla vodka and seafood stuffed (crab) mushrooms. These are good! Done just right! Next up, their meatballs (with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese). Very good. These go down easy. Next up, the blackened shrimp. Don't cheat me on the "blackened" I told the server (who doubles as the bartender). Perfect! Medium-sided shrimp, but they should be. Interesting, the Happy Hour menu says "select martinis." In reality, "whatever you want." OK. For my final, dessert drink, I am having the Holiday Spiked Egg Nog martini (Egg nog, vanilla vodka and Disaronno Amaretto). I'm drinking a lot very quickly so it's time for some water. Ah!!! This has a little (very little) kick to it, but I like it. This drink is to die for! Graham cracker crumble rim. Heaven in a glass. Time for dessert! I'm starving. I have just been told that FIVE appetizers is the all-time record for one person (per the server, that table of FOUR women over there only had THREE appetizers). So for my dessert, I am having their homemade creme brûlée. The (new) server, the guy who greeted me at the door, was stunned that I order not one, but TWO desserts. The second is the key lime pie. I have never had it I don't believe. The creme brûlée doesn't have the usual vanilla bean extract powder at the bottom, but does have a stronger "torched" flavor to it. I do like the extra strawberries. To each his own I guess. The key lime pie is good. It tastes like a lime-infused piece of cheese cake. Finally, a little cup of black coffee make it safely home. Pretty good! It's an semi upscale-ish restaurant in Windsor that just opened a few weeks ago. The menu is pretty classic Italian-American food (penne a la vodka, fettuccini carbonara, spaghetti & meatballs) but has a handful of more interesting dishes. Lots of fish options and a handful of other chicken/veal/steak dishes as well. Opted for the chicken a la vodka since that's a pretty classic dish. It was alright. I felt the pasta was cooked a TAD too much, but it's a tough thing to get exactly right in a restaurant. The sauce was good, but wished the chicken was a little more grilled rather than ?pan fried. I like the taste of a little char to go along with the pasta, but that's a personal preference. Overall, pretty good. Service was good. The manager of the restaurant was very visible on the floor which was nice. We ended the night with a sample of the house made sambuca which was syrupy and sweet. We had made a dinner reservation at Windsor Steak and Seafood last evening for the 2 of us and 2 close friends. My partner and I had dined there frequently while living in Windsor and always thought their food and service were wonderful. During Covid we also ordered take- out frequently for ourselves as well as for nurses at Saint Francis Hospital ICU... they loved it! Our friends raved about the food last night and we agreed it was as delicious as ever. The Snapper Francaise is amazing and the special that evening of Chilean Sea Bass was superb. Our server Emily was excellent.We will definitely be returning in the near future. It was obvious they have made some decorative improvements in the Bar area and Dining Room. Our one major complaint is in regard to the lighting.... it is much too bright and needs to be dimmer. Exceeded all expectations! Restaurants near commuter hotels can be mediocre, but you've got to eat right? We tried this spot for the location and the varied menu, and what we got turned out to be a real 'destination' restaurant. Delicious food of all kinds. My husband ate a perfectly cooked sirloin with shrimp, I had a large and perfectly cooked fillet of sea bass on a bed of spinach. My daughter ate a beautiful wedge salad with bleu cheese and bacon. The service was perfect and our dinners left a great impression. I've been thinking about my Chicken Ala Vodka and my friend's Jack Daniel's NY Strip everyday over the past week. Both dishes were flavorful and the strip was cooked to perfection. It would give any overpriced Hartford County steakhouse a run for its money. Family style restaurant with a nice outdoor patio. It's very cozy and clean. We recently used this establishment for a police retirement party. Although it got a little too crowded, because there were more guests than we originally expected, the staff did everything in their power to try and accommodate us. The food was top notch and the service was excellent. Sammy and his entire staff treated us very well. Sammy was able to feed 150 people with no problem. Everyone raved about his prime rib, baked cod fish, and his chicken Marsala. Please get these folks a try if you're in the Windsor area. I promise you won't be disappointed. Like I said, our retirement party was rather large so we could have used more space and parking, but anything under 100 guests would be fine. Yesterday we celebrated my husbands birthday with a party for 25! We could not have asked for a better restaurant! The appetizers were: crab stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and fried eggplant. Each one was superb!! The garden salad was great and the dressing was fabulous! Meal choices were: Pasta Ala Vodka, Chicken Marsala, New York Strip, and Baked sole. No complaints from anyone. Even though we had a cake, dessert was still included in the price. Dessert choices were: Cannoli or Tiramisu! We were so stuffed from the meal, but each one was fabulous! Our reservation was for six but we arrived a few minutes early to set up and to have a drink from the happy hour menu! Happy Hour was great with great prices on appetizers and 5 dollar wines, wells, and martinis. This is a great addition to Windsor and I'm happy to keep supporting it! Although the food was very good, I have never experienced such rude service in my entire life, and I spent a large part of my professional career entertaining. This was truly abhorrent. My guests and I were celebrating a very special occasion and chose this restaurant based on the rave reviews. We arrived between 8:30-8:45 on a Saturday night (they close at 10) and were seated in the dining room where two large parties and several smaller ones were already dining. Things started well - the drinks, appetizer and pasta courses were all very good and I complimented our waitress several times. Then things started going downhill. Our main course arrived literally on top of our pasta, we had to beg for bread, and we were asked if we wanted to go boxes when we were only 5 minutes into our meal. When I replied that I would know better once I had finished eating, our waitress responded by delivering an armful of various sized takeout boxes to our table. In fact, she had to reposition our food in order to make room for the boxes. Of course there so many boxes because we hadn't had a chance to finish anything yet. We checked the time and found it was only 9:15. Around this time, the largest of the private parties finished their celebration and departed the restaurant leaving what must have been a substantial tip as one of the waitresses fell to the floor (not kidding) proclaiming that this was the largest tip they had ever received and it was "just what they needed.". We were then asked if we wanted dessert (still trying to eat entrees) and the music was turned off. Feeling totally insulted and offended, we declined, left a paltry 10% tip (only because the food was good) and left. I'm glad the other parties were able to enjoy their celebrations, because we certainly were not. Despite the quality of the food, I would strongly dissuade anyone from subjecting themselves to this kind of treatment. I certainly won't make that mistake again. read more

I had the Veal Saltimboca Scallopini of veal topped with thin slices of prosciutto and fresh mozzarella cheese over a bed of spinach in a light brown Cognac sauce $21.32 No salad or pasta came with it. The music was good for the bar area but in my opinion, was not appropriate for the dining area. Plus, there were thumping sounds coming from the floor above. People living there? They do not have a salad included with their dinners (important to me). I had a piece of veal on a thin layer of spinach. The prosciutto was very hard to find or taste. No sides included. Just give a side of Pasta with sauce to help fill me up and to accompany the veal. I guess I am spoiled from sitting down with the real Mamma Leone with my wife in New York back in the '60s and her telling us knowing about serving a side of pasta was mandatory at her restaurant. I had to ask for a spoon (none placed at the table so that I could get some of the skimpy sauce to my mouth. About the salad. When a young woman brought our 3 pieces, should have been four pieces for equal sharing. I asked her if a salad came with the dinner. She said that she is only the Bar Maid and did not know. Something (instinct)told me that she was connected in some way as well as our server and so on into the business, she passed my question over to our server. I would not recommend him. It almost seemed that we were a bother to him. My suggestions always offer the free side of pasta with sauce. Have appropriate soft music to dine by. Have anyone from the bar or anyone serving something at the table can answer at least a simple question "Does the dinner come with a salad? In my case, it did not happen the 1st time. It seemed that all the staff does not know the menu and what is included. At least on this day. If it was not for the 20% coupon off the entire bill coupon and wanting to support Windsor, it would have not been worth it. read more

Prior name made this place sound much more respectable. The inside of the place is just a typical nothing fancy or special restaurant with used wobbly tables. The food itself priced on the higher end and really nothing special but you can eat it. Certainly wouldn't make this a go to place for Italian food though. When the manager? owner? came by to ask about the meals,my wife indicated we did not see,or taste, the kale or Sun dried tomatoes in the ravioli,the person (supposedly) checked with the kitchen ,and said the ingredients were ground so fine we could not see them!!!!!
