    Yummy pre dinner bread
    Jennifer Z.

We came here for a celebratory dinner and we were not disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive. We started with a crispy calamari appetizer, definitely worth ordering. The complimentary garlic bread was warm and wonderful, definitely hit the carb craving. We decided to split the filet mignon Oscar medium rare. It was prepared artfully and big enough for the two of us. We also ordered a Caesar salad as a side. We enjoyed the entire meal and will definitely be back.

Our first time here. Food was prepared exactly as ordered. We sat at the bar and kevin the bartender was very friendly. The portions were very generous and well seasoned. The steak and lamb were delicious.

A very nice solid sophisticated option for dinner in Hartford. If this was a football team I would describe it as professional, well run with no mistakes. Starting with the service, the wait staff knows the menu and the wine list and can really give you nice advice and recommendations. The chef actually also came out to talk though options with one of the tables. The wait staff are there when needed but not obtrusive. The ambiance is nice maybe a bit tired but no complaints there. The tables are far away enough that you can have a nice conversation without hearing your neighbors. The food is excellent. Starting with the complimentary rolls that are clearly home. We had the caprese for an appetizer and it was presented beautifully and tasted great. While the name implies a steak house they do have an excellent menu that includes tons of pasta. I had the lobster ravioli. It had plenty of nice lobsters pieces, a wonderful sauce very similar to a lobster bisque and the pasta was al dente just how I like it. The wife had these large shrimp that were perfectly grilled with a light but tasty Alfredo sauce. The tiramisu for dessert was home made and very good. Great option for your meal in Hartford

Dated date night spot, big portions but lackluster meals. We made the trek to this location because we wanted mussels and steak, and this place offered both. Came here as a Friday night date night. Early enough in the evening to miss the crowds but late enough to still go out and do other things afterwards. Coming up to the place, was fairly large and reasonably decorated if not a little non descript. Got seated quickly and was delivered bread to the table. Seats were harder than anticipated, and everything for decoration was clean but dated and sparse. We ordered the mussels to start while we debated on the steak choice. Munched on the bread while we waited, which took a good 20 minutes to get. We decided to eat the mussels first then we would order our entree Weirdly enough, these mussels were presented, flavored, and cooked all wrong. None of the shells had the mussel meat in them, it was all piled on one side of the plate. The mussels were overcooked, gritty and had no flavor. It tasted like they took frozen mussels, threw them in sauce, added a bunch of shells, then warmed it up. The Sauce was a red mananara watered down with red pepper flake added. We decided that we were not going to order the steak after that. The server never checked back in so we couldn't fix the blunder. And as we were leaving the server tried to ring us out for the mussels. They didn't actually charge us for the mussels, so I'm willing to chalk that up as a blunder. But it doesn't excuse the kitchen. From what we witnessed other tables getting, they do offer large portions of their sides. So they might be good. But this was not worth the trek for us. Approach with caution, and avoid the mussels

Wow!! What a great place! April our server was so very sweet ! She got us a nice table near the window. She told us about the specials, and got our drinks. It was quiet at the time, looking around- it was very clean and cozy! Table decor was quaint. Overall a very nice place. We got our appetizer, delish!!! Scallops and risotto When our main course came-- nice!!! Rib eye steak-perfection!! Oh my! Oh, and I almost forgot the home made bread!!! Don't fill up on it- soo good!! Then dessert-- anything is awesome!!! Food, Service 5 star!!! Thank you April for a great birthday for my husband !!!!!

I picked them out after the fact. Sandwich was good, had it on wheat bread. Did not really fill me up though, even eating the oatmeal cookie afterwards. I also ordered a large beef stew to take with me to work. Ate it cold which I didn't mind. I enjoyed it. "And there's fire on the mountain Lightening in the air…read moreGold in them hills and it's waiting for me there" (Marshall Tucker Band) Fire On the Mountain has one of the most unique menus I've ever encountered. Seriously, where else have you ever seen breakfast quesadillas, catfish and grits, cheesecake cornbread waffles, smoked brisket hash, deep fried pork ribs, catfish, mushroom, and alligator tacos, and a Puerto Rican Rice Bowl all happily living in the same menu's neighborhood? And then, the icing on the cake was our server - a charismatic and uber-friendly gent named Bromwell who lights up the room with his personality. He made my list of the five greatest servers I interacted with this year. The restaurant's location is as unusual as its menu. You'll find it occupying the front space at the Suffield Commons Senior Living Apartments! Yup, as you walk through the restaurant and out their back door, you actually enter a common space for the housing complex. The restaurant itself has two dining rooms with booths, tables, and chairs and a bar with dining room chairs. That eclectic menu is chock full of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices with Mexican and barbecue flairs. We were there for lunch and ordered two things. The first was an enormous Cheese Quesadilla ($9.35) with pork ($3.12) on a grilled flour tortilla served with sour cream and pico. It was a thing of beauty, cut into five thick wedges loaded with smoked pork. Our second item was a Caesar Salad (Half size for $6.23) with a side of smoked brisket ($9.36). I passed on the croutons and Caesar dressing in lieu of barbecue sauce as my dressing. I gotta tell you, the brisket was GREAT, a big serving of tender and juicy smoked beef cut into four slabs that must have totaled close to a half pound. We loved everything about Fire On the Mountain and agreed that we need to return for a proper breakfast when we are out that way or making a morning airport run. PRO TIP The restrooms are located in the housing complex's common space I described earlier/ Just exit the restaurant by the door in the rear dining room, and you're just about there.

And when I order scrambled eggs with cheese this is exactly how I want them made, fluffy and mixed together. This one's a bit further than I normally trek, but decided to try them anyways. Got here early and the place was quiet. The plaza is relatively new and this was the only non-chain I could find there. Wandering in, had the front end lady greet me. Debated on the French toast, but decided to buck the trend and try their tacos. Also ordered a latte, which took a few minutes to make. Coffee is lavazaa which is okay coffee. Coffee wasn't too strong but it also lacked any flavor beyond milk. The tacos did take about 15 minutes to make, and I appreciate the attention but it did takes while to come out. The tacos were actually pretty good! The delay was because they did a heavy burned cheese layer on the tortilla. The avocado creama, creamy eggs, spicy homemade chorizo, and pickled onion lead to a very well balanced and well seasoned bite. Plus they were huge in size but every bite offered a similar experience. If I had to be a stickler, there was a lot of potatoes on each taco. Filler is fine, but I did notice the amount. As a taco, it's a very solid contender to one of the better tacos I've had in ct. the quality is there, the quantity is plentiful, and the price is right. If I only got the tacos, and I was warned that it would be a few minutes to make sure they came out right, then it would be a five-star taco. Because the coffee is okay and there was a bit of a wait, I did dock a star because of it. It's a great place for a local breakfast and lunch spot. So long as you go in knowing that it might take a little bit to get your order then the wait is worth it. The vibe is chill, the food is good to great, and the staff are very nice.
